I really enjoyed this place. It was a great experience and im going back for more.

scene this place is incredible, heard about it from a friend and it was more than what I expected. Juan was a great waiter and very honest. I will recommend Soco to every person I know, great music and great atmosphere we need more places like Soco in Brooklyn.

I ve come to socos multiple times over the last 5+ Years usually to celebrate a birthday with a friend (they planned the outing ) the food is decent. depending on the time of day and actually I found it Where some days it s good other days it s cold an not as tasty. Two things that are consistent though is their Mac and cheese and poor customer service . I m not exaggerating ; my family planned my great aunts 80th birthday brunch there 2 years ago it was unorganized , staff was impatient and rude. The Mac and cheese is the only thing that has me come back after a long hiatus of being turned off with rude wait staff. The latest experience though was today. Before I could even step foot inside they were rude : i called to place a pick up order where I was hung up on. I ordered Mac and cheese was double parked outside and was told wait time was 10 mins . No biggie right ? It s a pandemic social distance wait in the car. I Gave my info and explained I didn t feel comfortable giving my card number over the phone when in less than 10 mins I would pay in Cash. Was hung up on and told to come inside. I kindly took my car out of park and across the street to another black owned business bk lobster and ordered Mac and cheese from there. I can t see my self coming back any time soon if at all. Always disappointed by the attitudes.

Currently waiting for chicken and waffles. Order was taken 45 minutes ago. Waitress is rude. No southern hospitality here. Will update post if food is on point.

On 10-13-2020, I decided to support this restaurant. I received boxed mash potatoes and the $13 I paid for the special mac and cheese was horrible. The mac and cheese was mostly pasta with very little cheese. The pictures are extremely deceiving. I spent over $45 for garbage. It seems the restaurant needs money and they are letting the quality of the food take a nose dive. FYI...I NEVER in my life wrote a review (until today)...but...this experience was so bad..I had to caution individuals who are looking for a good meal.

When we walked in, I noticed that the place was really dark. It also did not have much to do with interior design. But it didnt matter because the food was absolutely delicious! The wings were very flavorful, the greens were good not great, mac n cheese was FANTASTIC, chicken and waffles awesome as well. The only thing we didn't like was the hush puppies. They still get 5 stars. We also got a glimpse of Marc.

Update: the place got cited for roaches and rats. I know its nyc, but damn. Nasty. Marc get it together

My wife made reservations to calibrate my 40th birthday at soca a month in advance only to be bumped out at the last min by a larger group on the day of followed by a hour long wait after being told we would be seated in ten minutes. Once seated we waited 45 min for the first course followed by a 50min wait for the second course after bring at the restaurant for 3hrs and 10 still no main course with no explanation as to why our food was taking so long we decided to leave with out having dinner still no Apologies for the horrible service ..i was extremely disappointed by the service provided to us,and will not be returning.

On Saturday 5/26 @7:45PM I arrived for a 13 party reservation for 8pm. I madethis reservation on 4/18/18 which was over a month ago being sepcific on the back table I wanted for my husbands birthday dinner. Upon arrival I realized the table I had reserved was being given to another party although I was 15 minutes early for my reservations. My party ended up having to be seated elsewhere which was the first issue but I decided to let it go to enjoy the night. We were not seated at the other table until 9PM. At this time we all are already hungry but happy to be seated none the less. From arriving at 7:45PM by the third hour at 11:20PM all our party recieved were salad and appetizers. During our visit the owners were in the building and not one person apologized for the lengthy wait or gave a time frame on the entrees arriving. My party ended up leaving after 3.5 hours and never recieved our dinner. I sent a long email to manager and have yet to recieve a respone nor was there any sympathy or apologizes from staff for the 3.5 hour wait. If your celebrating anything don't waste your time coming here. This experience completely ruined my husbands 40th birthday and we had cake for dinner being that everything else was closed by 11:30PM. WHEN SUPPORTING A BLACK BUSINESS GOES WRONG!!!!!!!!!

Terrible experience. The only reason why Soco is even getting 1 star is just for the food.

I came here on Sunday June 18th for Fathers Day. I came here with my wife and our 1 and 2 year old daughters. Soco opens at 12pm on a Sunday. We decided to come here last minute. We joined the line that was already lined up in front of Soco at 12pm. Once we got into Soco, we were greeted by a hostess who was only seating guests with reservations. We did not have reservations. We were second in a line that was starting to get longer and longer by the minute. I asked the hostess when she will start seating guests without reservations, she said 10-15 minutes. They were catering to guests who were late for there own reservations.

At 12:15pm, the hostess decided to go around to all the guests at the bar and everyone else waiting in line, asking AGAIN, if anyone had reservations. I then asked that we start getting seated since it has been 15 minutes and guests with reservations were not there. She finally decided to seat people. We were seated all the way in the back, outside, not to our preference nor did they even ask.

Everyone seated around us were seated after us. Within 10 minutes, everyone received drinks and an appetizer. We waited 35-40 minutes for drinks. A few minutes later, our appetizers together with our food came after asking our waitress numerous times why our food and drinks were taking a longer than everyone else's. The two tables next to us ordered the same appetizers as us. I would hope that this wasn't a result of me speaking up earlier in line, but it seems like an odd coincidence.

The food was amazing. I had the Chicken and Waffles. The buttermilk fried chicken was delicious. We also had the BBQ Spare Ribs and Mac and Cheese. All was delicious. I highly recommend this place for take out or delivery if offered but the SERVICE was TERRIBLE!

Love this place... both my husband and I have been going for years...

Good food. Lively crowd. The drinks were strong
A little too tight for comfort sitting.
It was shoulder to shoulder at the dining tables. And the stools were so close together that you could actually rub hips with the person who sat besides you awkward

I came to Soco for our girls night out and as usual, it did not fail. Thursday night live entertainment, great food. Mussels, mac and cheese, even the green beans were on fire!

Drinks were great and the vibe was perfect. They have a doorman, awesome waiters and they aimed to please. All of this for a Thursday night?!? It was amazing. I am definitely returning. I heard making reservations is highly recommended for the weekend.

The food was okay, however my lobster shrimp and grits was very watered down and my lobster (the little piece of lobster that they gave) was over cooked. The mac and cheese is great and the drinks are strong and well prepared.

A bit of a mixup at first. However, we were given free mimosas. Food always delicious.

People don't usually write reviews unless it's bad (me included) but I gotta say the service here is probably the best I've experienced at a restaurant in a long time. Our waiter, Rob, and even the bus boys, were very attentive. Food was bomb! This was my second time here and they have yet to disappoint. Keep it up

Love the food, the staff not so pleasant. Booked a party for the outside patio and when we arrived so disappointed in how we were treated. Each time we've visited it's the same overwhelmed greeters rude and rushing.

Never disappoints!! The salmon and burger are amazing!! Drinks are always good and strong.

Visited SoCo today. We made reservations for 2:00 for 4 people. We arrive at 1:55, sat at 2:05...... First person who came to our table was Nessa, whom was NOT supposed to be our waitress but came bc she seen us just sitting there, at 2:25. She was VERY nice and professional. We finished our food and ordered another round of drinks. Nessa drops the drinks off at 3:30. TINA comes right behind her and asks us to leave our table and go find some seats in the front due to them having another reservation. Excuse me?! NOT OK and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. We also made a reservation and was ignored for the first 30 mins of our reservation. Spent $220 and the only thing worth it was Nessa, the drinks and the mac and cheese. THAT'S IT.

We stumbled upon this place walking down the street. We are from the South and found the food to be creative and delicious. Definitely try the red velvet pancakes and fried chicken and the fried catfish and parmesan fries. Yummy!

Haven't been here in a while and decided to go over the weekend. The food is still good as well as the service.

Good isn't all that any more. The only thing that I really liked was the Mac and cheese. I waited for an hour and a half!!!! That's all I'm going to say about SOCO. A bit disappointing.

My first experience at Soco was great. Unfortunately I can not say that this time. The most enjoyable part of my visit was the music. I ordered the red velvet waffle and chicken. The waffle was heavy and thick. Definitely not what i was expecting and the chicken was lO.K. until I got to the wing, in which it was half cooked. Thexwaiter informed the manager who offered me mashed potatoes. I asked could I have fried instead and he he mashed potatoes only. Now I ask what is the difference. One is peeled and one is fried. Disappointed

Came here for my niece's college graduation. The food was luke warm. I dont' t normally cook with salt but they obviously didn't today or forgot to use other seasoning to bring out the taste. I had the gumbo which need salt and pepper. The blackened salmon needed salt. My niece had the chicken and waffles which was good. My sister had the lobster and grits which was delicious. The drinks are okay. Service was not good due to the waiters were inexperienced.

This has got to be one of my favorites for all you can drink brunch. Definitely get the chicken and waffles or do what I do which is get something else and convince your spouse to get the chicken and waffles. Then you get the best of both worlds. Unlimited is for a couple hours depending on how busy it is. Try to avoid the church rush. Come early.

The food was like Soul Food on steroids lol, it was absolutely amazing. The vibes are very nice, when you go to Soco it makes you feel grown and sexy very elegant with a twist of relaxation. The music is good, the people are nice and fast but the decor was fabulous. Last but no least it's not even pricey.

I was looking for a good restaurant to celebrate my daughter s 20th birthday and someone memtioned SoCo. We were not familiar with all the good restaurants in Brooklyn since we were visiting from Florida and Arizona. Wow! What an awesome experience. The food is the best and the service was excellent. My party had the fried chicken, steak with collard greens, salmon, and shrimp pasta. The serving size was enough for dinner and lunch the following day. Absolutely delicious! Macaroni and cheese and corn bread was very delicious. Please check out this place, you would be pleasantly satisfied.

The mac and cheese was great!!! I totally enjoyed my meal and my drink was good. I did not make a reservation but the manager made it happens for my party of 5. And One plus is the music. I love the ambiance.

Been here a few times, I always have to stop by when I'm in NY but the food quality is not what I it use to be. I ordered the chicken and waffles and the waffles did not taste fresh I was disappointed. The service was great too bad the food wasn't.

The red velvet waffle was so thick it was hard to swallow. It was like a really thick chocolate cake consistency. The batter was way too thick I could barely eat half. The fried chicken had a bad after taste. The Mac and cheese was good and the greens were ok. Service was good.

I absolutely love this place! Went out on New Year's Eve with my sister and we had a great time! The food is very good! The buttermilk chicken and the Mac n cheese is a must! Great music, great vibe and the waiter Lucas was very Nice. He was dancing while serving us you guys and it was entertaining :) I can't wait to visit again.

It was very cold outside and they had us standing outside for 45 minutes because they system was down but they didn t seat anyone ! The waiters are rude ! Service was highly unacceptable and unprofessional!!

The food was seasoned well and very tasty. The atmosphere is very cozy, will definetly return.

The food and staff are amazing. Particularly a server name Maurice professional, friendly, warm and just amazing spirit in general. He was so damn good I tipped him well over 30%.

Great location, I found parking right away out front. The wait was about 45 min for brunch on Sunday , you can sit at the bar or walk outside there's a nice art store across the street.

There's outdoor like seating in the back and family seating inside if you have a large party with you. I was a party of 2 and they had seating for us as well . Also very clean bathrooms and handicap accessible.

I ordered the Mac & cheese , red velvet waffle and fried chicken with collard greens. The waffle was EXCELLENT, the chicken was cooked very well , the Mac & cheese was just ok it wasn't flavored enough in my opinion, but it was a great value for such a huge order, our waitress was kind and attentive. It all came to about 45$ .

Food takes too long to come , no free refills, small portion for dinner when I paid $33 for an entree, small glasses for water, collards not tasty, no complimentary bread for the extremely long wait

I went here for my birthday a few weeks ago, on a Friday night. It was vibrant, but not too crowded. Music was great, and so was my server. I'm a southern gal, and the food lived up to the standards! I definitely want to come back again!

Excellent place! Enjoy the whole ambience. We had the Fried Chicken with Red Velvet Waffles and it was wonderful. Fried Chicken season right and fried to perfection! Mac and cheese was to die for! They had a violinist that played hip hop which was fantastic! I can't wait to go again!

Upon entering I was partially attended to pertaining to seating. Managers are professional and ambiance is great. Bartenders were attentive as well. Dress code is not inforced- just no hoodies ON YOUR HEAD allowed. Waitresses were kind but the food was poorly made. After so many recommendations, I thought this place would be a hit but it was far from that. It was bland and tough! HOWEVER, the waitress apologized and spoke to a manager. He said there was nothing he could do other than trade it out for something else...I didn't want to do that because food with that price should taste great the first time around. I ended up pulling the GM to the side and he took care of it for us. Please note that the Mac n Cheese is actually REALLY FREAKING GREAT! I'd give it another try but just to chill at the bar since the vibe is very welcoming.

I been standing outside in the cold for 45 minutes waiting for them to open . They didn t open because they system was down . People who has been seated before me got their food before my table

Made a res.but when I got there I was less than blown away. It was noisy the music was horrible we were smashed in so close I was almost on the next persons lap. I will never go back again. Also after all of that the amount of food rec.was horrible compared to the price I ordered baby back ribs there were no sides and they gave me FOUR 4little baby back ribs NO WORTH IT AT ALL!!!!!

This food was absolutely delicious, and the service was five star premium.

First of all our server Matt....awesome service with a smile. Great genuine personality. We went for a birthday brunch celebration,made a reservation didn't have to wait long when we got there. Three things to note
1.mandatory tip -% of meal total
2. sparkling water- not free
3. Choice of light or dark meat additional charge
Overall experience was lovely. Matt really helped make the atmosphere inviting. The chicken and waffles yummy to the core, the fish and chips omg!!!! Done to perfection. Would definitely be back.Nice location,family friendly.Music was a bit over background music volume ( if you catch my drift) but after a while your ears will get accustomed to it. Would go back.

Drink was good, my salad was wack. Looked like they just cut lettuce and put it on the plate. The added shrimp was good. The mac and cheese was okay, nothing to rave about

This is the second time I have eaten at Soco. I ordered two of the BBQ chicken with the garlic mash potatoes and string beans, and Mac and cheese. The food was great and had a great taste. I was a little annoyed that the Mac and cheese is 13.00. I suspected to receive more than half in the container seeing how it cost so much. The taste was okay. I wanted to support them in this crisis. Plus my neighbor brags about the chicken all the time. My husband and I thought it was okay.

Though the staff were very friendly and accommodating (especially after the heat had been blasted to such an uncomfortable level that both myself and those in my party could no longer continue eating)The skirt steak wasn't the best quality and the sangria tasted mostly like punch. The red velvet waffle was... OK. Nothing I'd travel all the way to Brooklyn for. But the fried chicken and Mac and cheese were so good it could almost balance out the experience.

Sooo good. Very nice vibe with amazing food to match. You have to try the mac&cheese. Menu items priced well$$. Service was exceptional. They make you feel wanted. Coming, going and in between. Something alot of establishments are missing. Definitely a spot. Highly recommend.

I've frequented Soco many times and the food was always good. However, today I placed an order using a delivery app. The Mac and Cheese was awful. I saw cheese however it has yet to be tasted. The Mac and Cheese was dry and had no flavor. This is not the Soco I've been familiar with throughout the years. The chicken I ordered was burned. It didn't taste bad in the parts that didnt taste like charcoal. This was a disappointing experience for a simple order of Wings and Mac and Cheese.

No complaints at all. Great food, wonderful atmosphere and exceptional service. Went for my friends birthday and everyone enjoyed the restaurant.

Our group of 3 arrived around 2:15PM for Saturday brunch and were seated within 5 minutes in the "outdoor" area, which is really a covered back patio. It was nice and toasty on a chilly autumn day. Service was pretty slow, we waited about 20 minutes to receive our drink orders and another 15 minutes for the champagne glass for one of us who ordered a mimosa carafe. It took 3 requests before the glass was finally brought to the table. The Mardi Gras drink was absolutely delicious! The food however, was just ok. One of my friends asked for her scrambled eggs to be cooked soft, but either the request was ignored or the chef wasn't familiar with soft scrambled eggs. The steak in my steak and eggs were cooked to medium perfection though. The home fries that accompany the steak and eggs were mediocre and I personally think sweet potatoes would have been a better choice.

Overall, I was not impressed and would probably only come back for drinks (and to try that macaroni and cheese).
