Silverback handled my move from Milan, MI to Royal Oak, MI yesterday and it could not have gone more smoothly. Mike, Joe, and David were professional, talented, and genuinely nice people. It was a pleasure hanging out with them while they were working. Even though they are paid hourly, they worked consistently and did not try to drag out the time for the move. They completed our move in 8 hours, including roughly a 1.5 drive due to weather and traffic jams. Given the fact that the stairs in the new townhouse are very narrow, I am extremely impressed with their ability to get our large items up to the third floor and around some corners.

The only minor stumble was that there is a 5% charge for using a credit card that I don't recall being told about (but I could be wrong), but considering the relatively small dollar amount, I really cannot complain.

I would absolutely recommend Silverback, especially this specific crew, and plan to use them whenever I move again in the future.

I had a very good experience with Silverback. My move was scheduled for 10am to 3pm, I was moving my two bedroom apartment to another complex about 5 miles away. The movers paid close attention to detail and were very respectful. They arrived early for my appointment with smiles on their face. When moving any sort of pick me up is pleasurable. I would recommend this company to any of my family and friends and that is saying a lot.

My husband and I were disappointed in this company...

My husband and I were disappointed in this company. Make sure you get a written estimate!
This company underbids others to get the business. Our cost almost doubled from the estimate.
The movers worked hard and were careful with furniture, however my boxes were flipped upside down and must have been dropped as many items were not just broken but shattered. Mind you these items were bubble wrapped and in many cases surrounded by pillows. I have moved several times before and packed the same way with no broken items.
The contract that you don't see until the move is completed and you pay states that the company "is not liable for damage to glass, ceramics, China, or mirrors" Maybe not but I expect reasonable care will be taken with a box marked fragile. It should not be flipped upside down and dropped just because they are not liable. These people are supposed to be professionals. The kids I hired to move me a year ago when I moved in broke nothing.
If you use this company you better get insurance.
When we went to pay we mentioned to the movers that our original quoted price had almost doubled and we felt that we had been scammed a bit. The one mover stated that all their customers complained about this. He said customers get mad and he gets frustrated because then they don't want to tip. I told him that it wasn't his fault it's the fault of the business. We gave the 3 movers each $40.
Shortly after they left we noticed our bed frame and headboard was missing. Called the driver and was told he had the frame and would look for the headboard and bring them Sunday. Never received them. We called the company about the missing and damaged items and was told they didn't have them and would do nothing about our damaged items. The owner blamed us. He was rude and hung up on us. Not a good way to do business. I have been in customer service for 40 years. You do not treat customers this way. I have never felt the need to complain publically about a business before. This was a disappointing experience.

Silverback Moving was exceptional in nearly every way. A real excellent to deal with, that's rare that is ever said about a mover. However, all details were paid attention to and that is why I'm willing to write a nice review about Silverback Moving.

I had heard about Silverback Moving from a friend that lived not far from our family home in the subdivision. They had a very pleasant experience so we figured we would call the same guys to come out for an estimate. Silverback Moving did just that and we felt it was very thorough.

Four men and two trucks came out on the move day. They started by padding all doorways wood floors. After prepping, the home they prepared the furniture to then be handled. Quick and careful they were.

After we were moved into the new address, they made sure all was built properly and assembled correctly.

The overall move came in just a few hundred dollars over the initial bid. As my neighbor once did, I too will refer Silverback Moving.

What Ian said below is quite accurate of my experience with this company as well, I just used them earlier this month myself! The two reviews below it coincidentally have the same name as the owner of the company, makes sense, right?

This company moved my stuff 5 miles in a truck, and once they unloaded everything I could see damage to nearly EVERY item I own. My new dining room table has chips of wood taken out of every corner, indents everywhere, and two LARGE gouges, and random screws keep falling out of it onto my floor due to the warped wood they caused. They broke my patio table, a large chunk of metal under the table is literally broken up causing instability throughout the whole table, not even sure how they could break metal off like that, but they found a way. My entire bedroom set (less than a year old) is knicked, dented, or chunk of wood torn out of them...this includes a dresser, end tables, bed, etc. They tore up my other bedroom set as well, one of the door on a tv stand no longer goes on the stand due to a chunk of wood taken out of the door. They lost a couple of items I needed to put some stuff together. Lastly, they actually forgot and left some items behind at the storage facility...so I had to drive myself and get it. TRUST ME...I SHOULD HAVE DONE MY HOMEWORK BETTER...DO NOT USE THEM!

Silverback Moving co. damaged my $2000 leather sectional and blamed me for it. The two men who moved my furniture were friendly, but moved everything without measuring. I even told them to take the legs off of the furniture before moving it! I was more than willing to file an insurance claim for the damage, but since the owner (Jim) ducked my calls for weeks, I decided to let the courts deal with them. Of course they have multiple fake addresses and did everything they could to avoid being served. I hired Silverback in 2013 and decided to rehire them since they did an exceptional job back then - huge mistake. And, I injured my back so I needed a moving service. I feel betrayed and will never hire this company again. I will also spread the word. Stay away.

Very bad.

Very bad.

They were short their regular crew so they sent movers out who were not trained and probably never moved a piece of furniture from one side of a room to another. They were 3 hours late damaged many pieces of furniture, took 11 hours to complete a 3 hour job, did not repair the damages, could not explain the one piece of furniture that never got to its destination; borrowed a cell charger and never gave it back, did not know what an Allen wrench is, ran over the neighbors garbage cans and made promises to resolve and chose not to instead.

Ha ent used their moving services, but their truck almost hit me multiple times. They were tailgating, weaving in and out of traffic, and honking while we were all stuck in traffic. I can only imagine they put this much haphazard care into their professional services .

Very poor service. Tremendous variance from written service contract and what the movers actually performed. Damaged goods, soiled carpeting in new house, little or no protection of items during the move, items were left at old house, and the movers did not place items in proper areas at new house.
Poor customer service from the owner, as well.

I would not recommend this company.

Do not trust this company if you are looking for a hastle-free move. The movers arrived an hour before our appointment, and expected to move to the next job before the minimum 3 hours of service because they had to wait for us to arrive at the scheduled time. The company knew ahead of time that we were moving an upright piano, but failed to send the movers with the proper equipment for the job. Instead, the movers decided to drag the piano through our hallway and down the sidewalk without a dolly or floor protection. The hardwood floors in our hallway have been noticeably gouged because of this. Their dolly also did not have properly working skid belts, which resulted in scratching our wood steps.

When we approached their manager regarding the damage, he was very rude and insisted that we pay in cash for the services despite the damage. Although we eventually got them to refund the extra piano fee, the manager was unable to correctly add the charges in his contract. They billed for the half hour discussion with management.

The manager went out of his way to call us back and assert that "the movers would not be paid because of us" and we were "the worst customers he ever had".

On the plus side, all of our furniture is in excellent condition, and the movers themselves were clean, strong, and a pleasure to work. I am disappointed they have to work in such an environment.

Silverback Moving did well over $10,000 in damage ...

Silverback Moving did well over $10,000 in damage to our property, and has not responded to our claim of damages; screening phone calls and ignoring emails for 30+ days.

Schea Van Lines managed our move from Columbus to Cleveland; however, Silverback Moving showed up to execute the move. During the move, the staff ran out of shrink wrap, and could only cover our furniture with blankets. They promised to fully wrap everything when it went into storage. This did not happen. Upon arrival to our new home, pieces came off the truck unwrapped, chipped, broken and damaged beyond repair.

The boxes packed in the truck were dropped and handled in a less than professional manner; based on the significant dents, collapses and tears in the cardboard. This is beyond the damage consistent with normal handling. Upon opening the boxes, the damage to our property continued.

The added pleasure has been the discovery of multiple cockroaches in our belongings.

The worst personal violation was finding that our property had been rummaged through. We found items from latched bins scattered about the truck, purses and personal property turned inside out and searched and jewelry boxes had been ripped apart. The appearance of the truck, and the treatment of our property is nothing short of negligence.

Since our move, we have filed a claim for damages with Silverback Moving, and the owner Cam Schea. To date, we have had no response from the company in any form. They have screened our calls and emails go unanswered. I have escalated this case with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and will pursue legal action if necessary.

After consulting with several different moving companies for my girlfriend's mother, we stumbled upon Silverback Moving Company at the right price. A lot of the other commercial competitors were priced very high and harder to work with as far as specific detail and care for some very sentimental and cherished belongings. The administration staff at Silverback moving made this move/process from Sterling Heights, MI to Rochester Hills, MI very stress free with promptness and professionalism in a timely manner. I will be referring close friends and family in the near future.

Silverback Moving and Storage certainly came to the rescue when we were in need of storage and packing supplies. We were beyond happy with what they had done to make our move more efficient and smooth. We were referred to them by a coworker at my wife's office.

The storage was climate controlled and all pieces were stored with proper protection. The staff were exceptionally friendly and kind. The overall price for the storage was more than fair. I was thrilled with the service Silverback Moving provided.

Thanks again Silverback Moving and Storage. I too will refer friends and family to your service. Next time we will use your labor services as well.

UPDATE - (DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!) Two months later I am now working with the Ohio Attorney Generals office to mediate an agreement between Cam Schea (owner) and myself. Once we reached an agreement I have now been waiting almost a month for payment to be sent to me. If you've ever an had issue with this business (Shea Van Lines/Silverback Moving) I can not encourage you enough to please contact the Ohio Attorney Generals office. No one deserves this kind of treatment during the most stressful day of your life or to be wrongfully lied to/about and ignored.

!!!! I booked Shea Van Lines/Silverback Moving (SAME PEOPLE) a couple weeks in advance for Friday, May 26, 2017. When Thursday, May 25th came I got a call to confirm my move for the next day. Kim told me to expect the movers between 9:30-10:15am. She also said they would call before they arrive to let me know they were on their way. On Friday, May 26th, I waited until 10:30 before I finally called Karen at Schea Van Lines/Silverback Moving to ask where the movers were and if she knew when they'd arrive. She said she would call them to find out and call me right back. She never did. I called her again at 10:55 to see if she had found anything out. She said Kim was supposed to call me and at that point, I asked for Kim's direct number myself. I called Kim and she also couldn't tell me when my movers were going to show up. She said to give her an hour to find out. I gave her TWO MORE HOURS, she never called me. I called her back and she said they would likely be there around 5:00pm. The movers finally called me about 3:00pm and said they would be there at 4:15pm. I met them at my apartment and they started at 4:30pm. One of the movers ended up being highly allergic to my cat and I had to go to my neighbors to get him allergy medicine just so he could continue his work, it was awful. They were unhappy and exhausted from their whole day already. They also said they didn't know about my move until right before they got there and that no one had scheduled me with them. They got everything packed and got to my new apartment and started moving everything in. They DAMAGED my bedroom dresser and TORE the NEW flooring in my kitchen/hallway. The movers apologized and said everything would be taken care of and I would be compensated for damages. I also talked to Kim about my damages and she asked that I text her pictures of the damages and I did. She said to give them a couple of days to get back to me, I am still WAITING! The movers also wouldn't even try to move in my washer and dryer because they claimed it wouldn't fit through the door. My maintenance man for my apartment came and got the washer and dryer in just fine, he only needed to remove the door. But because the dryer was now blocking the upstair bedroom all the boxes had to be put in the first floor living room and we have to move everything ourselves after!
It's now 6 days later and no one has contacted me about it at all. I called and talked to Jamie on Tuesday, May 30th, she said she would have her supervisor contact me, I've heard nothing from them. I also talked a man/owner on Tuesday (the movers gave me a phone number and told me it was the owner's direct phone number, it no longer works) and he has yet to get back to me as well. I believe they are now screening my phone number and will not answer when I call. I have filed a complaint with the BBB of Ohio.

I used Silverback Moving to move my goods in May 2016. Having moved 9 times, I can tell you without a doubt this is the worst moving experience of my life. The gentlemen moving my goods seemed poorly trained in packing and loading things in a professional manner. They found a way to dirty up my mattresses even though they were protected in plastic sleeves. Both my beds were reassembled improperly, with the master bed missing parts and damaged. I called Jim the owner the day of the move to notify him of the damages. He spoke with his crew and called me back admitting his team did not do the job properly. The two weeks following the move, I communicated with Jim who committed several times to come out to review and fix the damages. He never showed up and never called to say he wouldn't make it at the promised time. So i was finally left to handle fixing the beds and cleaning the mattresses myself so I had a place to sleep. The bed will never be the same as it has structural damage. Only when I contested the credit card charge 2 months later did Jim seem to care. Seems Silverback Moving just wants your money regardless of the level of service they provide.

I would NEVER recommend Silverback Moving. Customer beware.

We hired Silverback Moving to take a few pieces from our storage locker in Troy to our lake house on Indian Lake. We were very impressed with the quick service and professionalism. Each detail was given proper attention and the staff served our family with a smile. Finding a company that you can rely on for a reasonable price is rare. I appreciate the service I had received from Silverback Moving and will recommend to neighbors and friends.

I had received a bid from Silverback Moving for a total of $3,750 to take the items in my workshop in Milford to my cabin in Petoskey. Although they were not the lowest price I had received while shopping, I determined they would still be the best option for the move after doing my research. The day of the scheduled service, three staff arrived at my workshop and promptly began disassembling and preparing my equipment to be shipped. Although my shop consists of only basic drills and saws, proper handling and preparation is essential to safely transporting them. In addition to the tools, the chests and other fixtures were loaded quickly and properly. After arriving at the Petoskey home the gentlemen from Silverback Moving were quick to unload. They even took the time to reassemble the tools and fixtures properly so the shop would be set to go. I was impressed by the great deal of detail and attention they gave. Considering it was a flat rate, I assumed they would unload and get out of there as soon as they could. Fortunately that was not the case. These gentlemen took the time to properly assist me in putting everything back together. A+ service. I recommend Silverback Moving for those relocating North!

I phoned the office three weeks prior to our move date to discuss what size operation would be necessary for my then upcoming home move. The scheduling staff recommended three specialists and two trucks. I was quoted at a rate of $139 an hour for the service, which I felt was appropriate considering I've moved in the past.

The day of the move the team arrived early, prepared the home entirely, and then proceeded to begin loading. All went quick and well. I was very pleased with the overall service. Everything was handled with care and the staff were more than professional, from the office to in our home. The only reason I gave 5 stars and not 4 is because I was billed an additional for shrink wrap (nearly forty dollars). When I phoned the office they stated they generally compliment materials, but they had to use more than usual for my service. Understandable, but I wish I was told about this possibility prior to the move day. Regardless of the shrink wrap, I will use this service again if I every need a truck and service.

Do yourself a favor & do not hire this company! Listen to the reviews, I wish I had!

The movers dropped 2 of our boxes, broke 3 items, got our mattress dirty from placing it against the wall of their truck, spilled contents from desk drawers onto the floor in the hallway of our apartment building & didn't pick them up, manhandled all of our belongings, and stole some on my husband's legal medical marijuana (as well as papers to roll with).

I called the owner (Jim) to complain. He claimed neither of them smoked marijuana and that they had been with the company for years. That was his only excuse.
I asked to be reimbursed and receive a portion of our payment back.
He only offered to give a reimbursement of the products broken.

I told him that we would then have to take it legal matters with the stolen marijuana and he claimed I was threatening him. It was not a threat, it was a consequence for a job poorly done.

DO NOT EVER HIRE OR RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!

This place is dishonest, rude , not customer conscious, untrained at thier jobs. I was quoted about $400 for a move 2 miles away from a 3rd floor to a townhome. I did not have many big items, no appliances. The supervisor came witb the movers, why I dont know cuz she slowed down the whole thing which was the intention I think. My move ended up being almost $700 and they broke my desk, scatched it up and broke a lamp. I complained but the sorry supervisor that sat in her car the entire time lied out her teeth when she returned to her office. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. IT IS A COMPANY THAT CANNOT BE TRUSTED AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR THINGS.

Awful. I was present when this company moved a friend of mine, they moved at the pace of a snail (actually, a snail would probably have moved faster). Took extended breaks and even complained to us how they were "exhausted"...VERY unprofessional. Will never, ever use them again and I will not be recommending them to friends. In fact, if someone tells me they are hiring movers, I am going to bring up how awful our experience was just so more people know.
