Amazing food and lots of options no matter your preferences, quick walk to the beach and other places nearby

we originally booked 4 nights but left after 2
terrible value for money. poor service, average food and all very expensive.
we have been to many luxury hotels around the world, and shutters has been one of the worst

Went to Shutters to meet a work contact. Say in the lobby/lounge which has a living room feel to it -- if your living room was filled with 500 people. Nice ambiance, but day too loud and crowded. Also the server took my CC when I ordered coffee and disappeared with the card for like 20 minutes. I'll have to watch my account activity for a while to make sure I wasn't ripped off.

Great food at Pico1. Parking needs a lot of work and a functioning manager.

I didn't stay here but attended a one day event. The hotel staff was very attentive to our requests, food was delicious, and setting was beautiful.

The meal was excellent and all the waiters were polite and fast to fix any problems that arose.

What's not to love about this place? Beach, sand, sun and Southern California beautiful coast line. I go there every chance I get for a relaxing brunch and a stroll to the pier.

Went to Shutters for a work event. Space was very nice, as were the drinks. Hors d'oeuvres were very tasty, but the overall meal was a bit overcooked and underseasoned. That said, it was a work function with a fixed menu (soup, salad, choice of three entrees, dessert).

What a great location for a hotel, the rooms are bright and simply designed in sea shore themes. The hotel is right on the beach and close to all the fine restaurants and bars in the area.
The staffs are friendly and professional, seems like they only hires young and good looking people in the front side of the hotel . Unfortunately as our corporation keep cutting our travel expenses we are getting the smaller and less ideal located rooms
Within Santa Monica this is definitely the hotel to stay if your budget can afford it.

Great restaurant with great view of the beach. For some reason they were out of a few things that we had ordered that night including a couple drinks and appetizers. But the food we ordered tasted great and service was good too, a little slow, but it was a busy night.

Probably my favorite stop on the trip. Great beachfront property, cute rooms, wonderful lobby, terrific breakfast room all right on the beach within walking distance to either Venice, the Pier or Santa Monica. Grad a Bird or Lime and enjoy!

We had a very enjoyable trip last week. We have been coming to the Outer Banks since early 80's and this is the best place we have ever stayed. Always clean and comfy. Always a very good breakfast. All the staff are very nice. We always get the 3rd or 4th floor as I like to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the beautiful beach. Gazebo is also very nice. Due to prior surgeries I cant always walk as much as I would like and it is so nice to be able to sit out in the gazebo. Also love the walk in showers.

Only had water. The food that I saw smelled and looked delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, despite being very busy.

If in Santa Monica, one place I would recommend you must try for breakfast

Great location if you can afford $400 a night otherwise stay at the Seaview $88 a night special block away.
The restaurant below the shutters is a great place to have breakfast and enjoy the view

Wonderful Hotel in Santa Monica. As a destination wedding photographer I've been lucky to shoot a lovely wedding reception there and it's an absolute gem on the beach with beautiful views. Can't wait to be back :)

Work environment is not very good! Constantly looking for Managers due to Turnovers!

Old Hotel, elevator is very slow, rooms are small, expensive breakfast. staff is nice

Great view and location. Had to wait an hour for my room (despite arriving only 15 min before their typical check-in time).

Don't really know much I didn't stay just happen to be there on a weekend beach trip but from what I could see it looked like a nice place, next to the beach and areas to eat we close by would stay if I could

This hotel is magnificent! We had lovely drinks and brunch at 1 Pico, with amazing service, and enjoyed a quick walk to the beach afterwards.

Visited just for a quick beer at sunset, enjoyed impeccable view from second floor balcony patio. Service could have been quicker and more efficient.

It was actually a mistake that i went in. I was supposed to go somewhere else but google maps got something else, but if i stayed i wouldve probably liked it because it looked so nice. I liked the type of decour

A stunning, boutique hotel! Its absolutely amazing. We stayed here for a wedding. The wedding venue was really nice. Great place for celebrity sightings if you're into that. I fell in love with this place and will defintiely come back!!

Delicious brunch and unparalleled views of the beach!

Ate at the beach cafe and it was amazing. The food was incredible and the outdoor patio seating was beautiful. Definitely looking forward to coming back very soon!

Went to a Cal students event. Great service and food. Other than the traffic in the area which the hotel cannot do anything about, it was great.

We dined at One Pico last weekend for my mother's birthday. The food & view was AMAZING, but the service was slower than I've ever experienced. The wait staff walked back and forth for 3 hours, but we rarely had their services. Worst wait-foul: one of our eight guests broke a wine glass and the three large jagged pieces sat next to his plate for the entire meal as we were served, plates taken away and cake brought for dessert.

We helped to celebrate a friends birthday by having our dinner at the restaurant then she gifted us with rooms for overnight stays, (well worth the price). The next morning I got up and exercised in their gym then had breakfast on the beachfront. A+ high-end luxury suites. My favorite time outside of hanging out with everyone was getting alone to luxuriate
in the huge tub, (large enough for two). Made me wish I was with a fellow rather than the girls...

Loved the location and the room was impeccable. It was pricey, but worth it. My wife and I will come back!

The food is this so so for the price is not worth it.

I've only been to shutters on the beach once to deliver packages to a customer. The front doorman wouldn't let me thru the front door. I was told to go to the loading dock and to meet the customer there. When I went to the loading dock, the loading dock manager told me to go thru the front door. They all didn't know what to do for the customers packages. And none of us could reach the customer, since the customer left the hotels number and not his personal number and the customer wasn't in their room. Then finally, the hotel personel loading dock manager took the packages into the security office till they can reach the customer for pick up. Tho it was not allowed. They allowed it under the circumstances of timely delivery

We had lunch at One Pico Restaurant. It was amazing! The food, ambiance and staff-Andrea was over the top.

More of an old school place I guess. Wasn t disappointed at all it s right on the ocean and has bikes you can take down the strip. The rooftop pool is awesome when it s warm out great place for the family ;-)

The experience was awesome ,the room 304 was very beautifully decorated with Italy marbel.

Bad experience. First of all, the food took forever and there was no bread to help us wait. Secondly, they didnt refil the water the entire 1.5 hours we were there except for the one time we asked. Thirdly the food quality was terrible. Maybe,the same quality expected at Long John Silver. I got fish and chips and,they were soggy, undercooked and smelled funny. My wife had pasta that was flavorless. The only reason i didnt give 1 star is because they took the fish off the bill.

Overall i'd say this place has a nice view and they make you pay for it.

Went to the restaurant coast for lunch with a date and the valet stole $150 from my car, I'll never go back

Very nice location with view of walking path and ocean. Very pleasant and professional staff. Food very well presented and tasty. Only drawback is that the outdoor patio area needs a serious clean up including canvas, paint and netted area

Everything you'd expect and want at a beautiful hotel on the beach. Including outrageous prices to go with it. If you can afford it, it's highly recommend it. Great place for brunch too, whether guest or local in the lower level. It also happens to open up right on the sand.

Very nice customer services but prices is high due to food quality.

Only ate here. But won't bother again. Living off history and monetising what reputation it had. So disappointing I can't bring myself to list the crimes. Best to just avoid completely. This was their heritage tomato salad. Seriously.
