Nice clean casino, walked out with more than I came in with!

Hotel room clean but bathroom light blindingly bright ( very unpleasant if you get up to go to the bathroom at night). Casino was well staffed. Had a fairly awful buffet dinner on Jan 2 when the buffet attendant was oblivious to empty hotel pans and dried out offerings. The casual restaurant in the dining room was a very nice dining experience. Had an affordable meal - steak cooked correctly and flavourful and great service. Other than pool area and casino, any hotel seating is very limited. It would be nice if there was a bench or chair here or there to say, eat my Tim Horton s at while my room is being cleaned.

We like going to this place for the water park. Always nice and warm inside and not to overly crowded. Good place for bday parties

Awesome!!! We had a lot of fun! It was clean, nice pool and hot tub! All the staff were very helpful and friendly! Food was good! We will definitely be back!!!

To much sigarette smoke in the place. Not a smoke free casino.

First time in Shooting Star..the rooms are ok.kinda small.
We also find that our bathroom has molds around the tub faucet area , underneath where you don't see when you're taking a shower but really gross to see it if you're soaking in the tub.
The staff are mostly friendly.
The reception is a different story , every time I ask for something , they keep referring me to the Casino side ( band- aid , etc ) seems like you're constantly inconveniencing them.
The food is reasonable , we only ate at the diner and mostly to go.
We enjoyed the pool and hot tub though.
I'm not sure if I want to go back there.

Great rooms and pool. Deli and buffet have good food. Barbecue place is overpriced and okay. They need to step it up a notch there.

Money goes too fast here, lack of free spins, bonuses ect... It's not even fun anymore or entertaining when you're constantly feeding the machines your hard earned and $100 doesn't last u 10-15 minutes! Thinking about changing casino's and taking a trip to northern lights more often!

Helpful hotel staff and a very nice clean hotel. We were pleased with the service and the prices. This was our second trip there and we will go back again.

There is a variety of things going on.
Celebrate monthly birthdays, monthly give a ways and many fun machines. I enjoy elders day on Tuesday, live bands on Thursday, Friday's bingo n band, every Saturday Karaoke and the bands last night until next week.

They sold my reserved room to someone else even though I called them directly for the reservation instead of using a third party like Hotels.com two weeks ahead. They offered me $20 off my room for the second night for selling my room!! Checked in for second night and they pretended to be strict with covid restrictions until I found someone else's LEFTOVERS in MY fridge!!! They didn't offer an explanation or discount...

Lots of fun with family. My son and father went home with a little in their pockets. Facility is very clean. No smoking which I love. Masks are mandatory. I felt completely safe in our COVID-19 world. Same safety protocols I have to use while working in my ND nursing home which has no COVID-19 positive residents due to everyone following procedures .

Due to the covid19 protocols, the service to the casino guests like myself was slow or non-existent. Lack of adequate staff I believe was the issue. The 6 foot rule was in place as well as all people needing to wear masks. Also temperature and ID check at the door.

Amazing place to be yourself and a fun way of doing it

The worst customer service I've ever seen. Waited forever to check in, front desk staff was rude, gave us no info, acted like it was an inconvenience to even tell us how to find our room. The casino itself sucks, does not pay out at all. The deli was always long lines, slow service at all the bars/restaurants. Most of the employees were just plain rude, like we were a bother. We called front desk for an extra pillow and recieved it an hour later. My husband went to the desk for coffee cups and staff was rude to him. He asked if we could have a cart to take our luggage down and she said it's not her department... For some reason this morning of check out we had only cold water. Not to mention the room was extremely not worth the money. Small, stinky, dirty, outdated. All in all, it was a terrible experience for us.

Casino is nice, Hotel rooms are just okay at best. They gave us hard wood floored pet friendly rooms instead of normal carpeted ones which made it a pain coming back from deer hunting each night, and we couldn't change. Food is good, but service and price isn't quite right. I paid 32.99 for seafood buffet, and wasn't nearly as cheap or had as much of a variety as Hinkley Casino or St Croix Danbury. Went to the restaurant twice, and the second night the service was aweful. Our drinks weren't taken until 10 minutes after sitting down. Ordered food, took about 20 minutes to get my salad, and another 5 after that to finally get silverware for our table. Took another half hour to get our food.

called and reserved about a week ago. Got into town around 2pm, and drove out to visit a friend who lives in Gary. While we were waiting was wondering when we could check in, so called. Was told normal check-in time is 4pm, but they have rooms that are available, so we could check-in before that. So we left and came straight away. We got here, went to check in, and was told we'd have to wait. So we sat down, and waited, watching as guest after guest came in, and was given key cards. My brother has degenerating disk in his lower back, and has to walk with a cane. He likes to play the slots, which is why we booked a room here for the night on our trip, but they placed him in a room at the farthest part of the hotel rm #32XX. So by the time he made it to the room, he made the decision not to go back to the casino and just stay in the room as it was too much for his back. I later walked down to the Mino Wilisini, where I spent $33.40 for 2 bacon cheeseburgers, a whole pepperoni/sasauge pizza and 2 soft drinks. I got back to the room, and we tried the pizza. It was one of the worst pizzas we've ever had. The crust wasn't fully cooked the cheese was runny like it had come out of a can, and overall flavor not worth the $17.00 they charged for it. Will we stay here again? Probably not. Would we recommend this to family/friends..No, and will share our experience with them.

The urinals have these weird devices in them. I think its to prevent blowback while you're doing your business. Never seen anything like them. Anyways I lost $60. Had absolutely 0 luck and couldn't smoke due to covid. But at least I didn't get pee on my trousers.

The shower head was chest-level and I'm only 6 foot tall. Room was ok... nothing to brag about.

Only came here for a concert in the event center, but the casino as a whole seemed to be filled with tons of great side bits, like a non-smoking area, live "lounge" music in one of four(?) mini-restaurants/bars within the casino, a huge variety of slots to try out, many free-beverage AND pay-per-drink stations/bars throughout the entire area, and a pretty fun aura overall. Would have loved to spend more time gambling but the concert was the main reason I was there. Event center seemed a bit sparse on ammenities but was still a fine space for the concert.

Went to the Nick Swardson comedy show! Will visit again.

Came for the dinner buffet and ate way too much but it was definitely worth the price and the trip. Only real downside was we didn't have a room booked here.

Wide variety of machines. Wide variety of food venues. Multiple bars throughout casino so don't have to walk all way to main bar n sit n wait to be served. Free coffee & soft drinks. Waiters walk around so don't have to leave machine to order drinks.

Rooms were nice and clean. Hotel staff very nice and helpful. The food at the buffet was very good and there was a large selection. The food in the Smokies restaurant was exceptional! The server was friendly and efficient. Can't wait to go back and try another entree. Casino was greedy, couldn't win no matter how hard we tried.

I recommend to seek lodging accommodations elsewhere. The staff are uneducated about queer identity at the basic level and the bar staff openly discriminated myself and a my friend who identifies as transgender. The facility is heavily policed and routinely walk drug detection dogs throughout the property and down the halls of the hotel. Do not stay here!

Friendly and inviting atmosphere. I like that they have a non smoking section in the casino!

Fun but noisy. Food is best in Northern Minnesota at the 218 Restaurant tucked away in back part of casino. Make reservations!! Service and food are great.

You end up spending alot,to get very little, slots are very tight,it takes the fun out of playing.Plan on leaving your money there,cause they don't want you to take any home with you

Slots are tight, room cleanliness was not good at all. (Hair all over in my bed, toenails on floor, Captain Morgan bottle cap in middle of floor, dirty toilet, ect ect.) Our group of 4 still had a great time even tho I did not hit 1 bonus game in $200 of playing. The other couple about broke even. That being said, I want to mention that a gentleman named Jon that works at the Tim Horton's is an absolute delight of a human being. Slightly hungover, my husband went there for coffee in the morning. Jon was the shining star of our trip just with his personality. He was chipper, funny, and delightful. It just made our day, as well as an adorable little boy/family of 4 behind us's day. I hope this gets back to him some how because he is an amazing employee and wonderful human being. We would return either way, but he definitely made our trip that much more of a delight :) His fellow co workers were amazing as well

I attended the Trace Adkins concert on Friday, May 24 which was excellent. After the concert my friends and I went to play the slot machines. Unfortunately, this casino allows smoking inside the building which is absolutely disgusting.

If the facility was no smoking inside I would have given it 5 stars.

Some of the smartest people around work here. They figured out that covid-19 is more active at night, so they made it a rule you have to wear a mask ONLY AFTER MIDNIGHT. because that is when covid is the most active

Had a great time dancing with friendly people. Bartenders know me n have drink ready for me. Even my wife has prompted service for her coffee when she shoes up. Couldn't think of going anywhere else.

Went to the Ronnie Milsap concert 1/25/2020 and was disappointed. His singing voice was very poor and week. I truly enjoyed the one song Rhonda sang, I could have listened to her all night. It was a very short concert, thankfully.

Typical old casino. Cigarettes and mildew. The people that work there are fabulous, though. DON'T GET THE POP UP BUFFET! Service was terrible and there's no way that a buffet that small and cheap is worth it. Worst buffet ever.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Casino is average, but the hotel experience will flow over and affect the casino experience, and my review as well. The last three times I've stayed there, I've had to call security on the "neighbors" twice and had them called on me once. The walls are sooooo thin, I can barely hear myself think cause of all the noise. Seriously, you can hear people right next door simply talk (or cough) through the walls. Toilets are purposely weakened for the fact the flush might wake someone up, and don't even think about taking a shower after a night on the floor. You'll get a noise complaint (IT'S SO FREAKING LOUD)! I'm 36 years old and haven't had a complaint on me in a hotel since I was 17. In conclusion... Work on your rooms Shooting Star. Forget the big names and your "amazing" restaurant and bar. Make the experience more enjoyable through the atmosphere instead of convincing people it's the "cool" place to be. It will truly work wonders for your establishment.

Amazing oasis in the middle of nowhere. Casino, all you can eat breakfast buffet for $8. Convieniently attached is a decently priced hotel with room service. Theres also an indoor pool... Wow how cool!

I used to be what I consider a regular for a couple years. Then I made the mistake of playing the electronic blackjack. I had a ten dollar bet going. I had two 8s. I wanted to split my hand but I didn't have enough money in the machine to split. The machine shows the option to add credits in order to split. Only problem is it won't accept money. So it's either hit or stand. I waved down help and it stumped two machine attendants. They called in some managers after I said I want to insert more money to split the hand or I want my money back. After they refused to do anything about it I said it will be my last time there. Apparently they don't care about losing a customer over a ten dollar bet.

Ongoing observation of security after initial health assessment. I felt more secure, less anxiety concerning virus contamination.

Cool place, but there is no way you won't lose money. If you're coming here to try to make rent next month... maybe put yourself through rehab. If you come here knowing you're basically spending money to chill with friends, you'll have a good time.

It's a small basic standard casino. The rooms are clean and the staff are nice. The allow small dogs in dog friendly rooms There is a decent selection of games. They could only use a little more food options which is the only negative I have to say.

Great entertainment including live bands. There is a nice selection of old and new slot machines to choose from. Beautiful interior and it includes a must-see non-smoking area. I highly recommend the restaurant for the buffalo burger. Very friendly and helpful staff. This is a great casino to check out.

It would have been nice if the machines paid out a little more often. Don't need to win a lot, but something to keep you interested.

Good setting very well kept and clean casino . Played a long time off of $100 seemed well balanced for win loss played for 4 hrs and enjoyed the newer slots . The 5 dimension ones are awsome

It's always good and clean... friendly employee's. I don't normally gamble much, so no expert. I like Mustang's with live bands over the Bar.

The staff are really nice and helpful, but getting past the smokey atmosphere is really tough... It's intense in there. The parking is atrocious... Do they really need giant medians? Every show I've been to I need to park at the mall next door. Food is pretty expensive.

It's a casino. Clean and loud and flashy and takes your money :) I however happened to win a extra 200. So hey.

The place is not very pleasing,me and my wife have been here many times but the experience on 7-6-18 has us at a struggle on were to get away for a few hours or overnight! After getting into our room it smelled like the people in there last had a cat after investigating we found our king bed soiled, now we went back to the check in desk and they said they were sorry but didn't have another king room, ended up with a double queen and no compensation, then came supper!! Oh my might as well just stop. Good luck with your experience people
