To put it mildly, a disgusting hotel! It was built in 1956 and since then nothing has changed yet! The television has terrible quality and few channels. The room is dark. The pillows are too soft. We were accommodated on the floor where the repairs were being made, and as a result, from the morning (8:30) until the evening, we suffered constant screaming and shouting. Crazy banging on the door at 9am and 3pm on Saturday morning to clean the room. We left a day earlier, even though the room was already paid for, as it simply does not support these conditions! Awful disappointment!

Overall charming house and friendly staff. They had nice Christmas decorations and even a small market with cookies. However, while we probably had the cheapest category, that we were woken up at 730, 8 am by the laundry carts being dragged and banged across the hall while staff was chatting away was a bit annoying.

Top location, good service and charming style - the former Sheraton remains one of the best venues for events. Some of the rooms are in need of modernization, parking in front and insolent drivers are less irritating, but hopefully the new project to repair the station hotel to shine in the new environment.

You always have to evaluate a hotel as such and the price / performance ratio against the background of the country. But in 2020 Bulgaria will no longer be a country where converted into EUR everything is "almost free". And if you book a 5-star hotel in the capital of an EU country with Mariott and pay a 3-digit EUR price for a double room, you can expect a certain standard that this hotel unfortunately does not quite meet.

It is certainly an impressive building that looks more historic than it is. (Built in the 1950s.) It is at the end of Boulevard Vitoshka, the central pedestrian zone in Sofia and therefore in a prime location. We specifically booked a corner room with a view of the cathedral. Unfortunately we got a room on the other corner, right at the busy intersection. The room was really big, almost a suite. Unfortunately, that already says all positive things.

The construction site right in front of the door is unsightly, i.e. At breakfast in the really nice restaurant you don't look at Svetia-Nedelya-Platz but in front of a rusty site fence. Hopefully this is a temporary problem. There are parking spaces in front of the hotel between the site fence and the building (EUR 15 per day). However, there is also the path from the subway station to the pedestrian zone. You don't stand there really well.

But what is really unacceptable in a hotel of this class:

- Air conditioning practically without function. We were there in August, it was around 30 degrees outside. The air conditioning mainly makes noise, but does not cool. The devices are rusted and look under the brass cover like from the 70s.
- Chairs are sometimes wobbly.
- Minibar not filled.
- TV in the room is probably one of the first plasma TVs from the noughties with an analog, distorted signal and less than 10 poorly received programs. There is a DVD player there for that. Retro would have been fun ...
- TV in the bedroom without function.
- Shaky toilet seat made of cheap plastic from the practitioner.
- The water came out of the side of the shower. We were able to repair it ourselves. But the maid could also have noticed.

Unfortunately, this hotel is not worth the money. You can get this standard in Sofia for 1/3 the price.

This is a great place to stay. The location is excellent and the bar and dining rooms are open long hours and are very comfortable. I don t know that it s truly a 5-star hotel, however. The spa and fitness room are very disappointing. The food is decent, but I expected better. The menu is small, which I generally prefer, but I would have liked to have seen more variety if not creativity. I would say the cuisine is Austrian influenced more than anything. I would ve liked to have seen a few Greek and Turkish / Mediterranean influenced choices. The desserts were very good and the breakfast buffet excellent. Don t bother ordering an omelette. Dishes often arrive barely warm. Service is friendly, but not knowledgeable about food. I was very comfortable here and do recommend it. I think it s a great value. Getting a more creative chef would make a big difference.

"Luxury Collection" is a misleading branding for this property - "opulence collection" would be more appropriate! According to the plaque in the elevator, the interior must date back to 1985 at least, and it's classic Stalinist style opulence. The rooms are fit for a king. So much for the good part of the experience. The service, unfortunately, is not luxury style - when I checked in, several pieces of trash were strewn on the bathroom floor, and several days later some of it still was around. On one day, the room wasn't serviced at all - when I complained after 5 pm, reception said they would send someone but three hours later, the room still wasn't cleaned. The gym has useful Technogym equipment to sustain a workout regime for a few days but looks more like a nuclear shelter or laboratory than a gym, and when I accidentally touched the window of the door to the sauna, it was so sticky that I assume it wasn't cleaned in a year or more. The executive lounge is very small and the food and drink is just ok - e.g., they have an espresso machine using capsules but they only stock 6 capsules at a time, so you may find yourself without any capsules or only decaffeinated ones. No cappuccino either, not even for breakfast. Most of the doormen are quite surly - when I asked to store an item, there was no doubt about how displeased the gentleman was with my request. Finally, laundry is a rip-off - nowhere else is the cost of washing a single shirt 1/7th of the room price!!!

They obviously are aware of this, hence the saving grace is the price. Depending on what other properties you look at, you might get ok value for money in an excellent location - however, if you are looking for luxury, you are better off looking elsewhere!!

This is not a 5* luxury hotel one would expect. Rooms are rather shabby, you can see broken things all over the place. Perhaps the worst of all is the cigarette smell all over the place despite the hotel being officially smoke free.

Classical, luxury hotel, complete with marble staircases, and large chandeliers. Friendly staff, and good food served in the restaurant. Mini bar is steep like most hotels ( 14 leva for a coke! ), and my swipe card to my room failed on 2 separate occasions, but otherwise excellent. Location is perfect for all the sites, etc, with the excellent 4th century Roman church directly behind it.

This not, I repeat, this is not a Luxury Collection hotel, not even qualifies as 3 star hotel. Yes, the front desk staff is great, helpful, professional and friendly (Veronika and Yohan as an example) but that's it.
Rooms musty and old (had to change rooms). Noise everywhere because of renovations, breakfast at restaurant undesirable, etc. etc. You do not want to stay here. There are some rooms tghat are renovated so you have to insist to get one if you are lucky. Next time: Intercontinental or Hilton Sofia.

Hotel and rooms are grand but lighting in the rooms is terrible. The bad lighting gives a very gloomy feel. Breakfast area is nice to sit but food and service are below average. Location is super. The hotel is in the city center so there are loads of shops and restaurants around.

The hotel is recommended for marriages and official meetings however not recommended for lodging.

Hotel should have been better! It's currently being renovated which is a good thing. But for some reason they saw fit to put me in a room with no coffee and tea making facilities. I asked them about this as the details suggest this should be available in all rooms. The response I got was that my room had just been renovated but the necessary fittings for tea and coffee had not been installed yet. In other words they let out an unfinished room which is unacceptable. The new electronics also did not work very well. On the plus side however, the shower was excellent. Good job on that!

The building is old and needs renovation. The rooms are very hot and while in the hotel's public areas there was air conditioning when we asked the reseption for air conditioning in our room did not work, we were told to open the window. Certainly the rooms need better cleaning. Breakfast was satisfactory in quantity.

Fake customer transfer offers after you enter your credit card information + 50% without notifying you and the explanation is pointless. Room with the smell of old closet, idle lighting, contacts and coffee machine. The building is unique unfortunately with no maintenance. 100% disappointed.

Excellent hotel, central location and great price for what it offers, friendly staff and view from the very nice room, the only drawback are some stucco work inside the room that made it look like a standard hotel b, if one does not look at these things though will find the best hotel in the city in the Sofia hotel balkan

I stayed here a while ago and wanted to give this hotel another try. I was very impressed. The staff are very professional. The rooms have been updated while still raining that old world charm (I am not a great fan of the style, but it is done well). I think currently this is the top value for the money in terms of high end business hotel in Sofia. Obviously the location is killer. Breakfast is good.

As for cons - the gym is there... But it is more of an afterthought although it is well appointed with equipment. The parking in the front is apparently run by the municipality, so the staff is sometimes not all that professional... Overall - easy 5 stars.

Always been here for events and functions. The hotel has very impressive customer service and when ever asked at the reception for information they have pulled it in a few seconds.
Keep up the great work and wish you the best

Special credits to the staff. All the people at the reception, at the concierge (Special credits to Tsvetin) were so polite and helpful. I am looking forward to going back after the extreme renovation. Amazing breakfast, excellent location,

Quaint and central. Lovely halls and good service. Rooms are well equipped and large. Hidden angles of tubs are filthy and need more attention and maintenance. In addition, it needs to be modernized to become environment friendly, an example: electricity doesn't turn off when the room is empty.

Ok
