Chicken fried chicken over Mac and cheese is awesome!

Everything is good. Barbequbean is my favorite. Cuban with pulled pork.

That's the best meal I've had in a long time and I travel all the time and always look for local fare. Ordered one of every oyster they offered. They were all fresh all legit from all over the country. I watched the guy shuck them. Awesome start. ordered the sirloin with green peppercorn mayo and fries and again wowed. Perfect medium rare, great green pepper corn dressing and crispy not greasy fries. I didn't think I could finish but it was so good I managed to eat all but the last of the fries. Very busy place but go. Flawless.

I eat here frequently and am never disappointed. The bar has an excellent selection of whiskey - particularly bourbon. The only problem is that it can be very difficult to get a table without a reservation well in advance.

Busy place. Quick, friendly service. Great food. A little pricey, but not too bad. Free valet parking.

My husband and I were looking forward to having a nice intimate dinner during our last night (June 18, 2013) in Nashville before heading home on Friday morning. We arrived at the restaurant and had about a 40 minute wait even though we were able to make a reservation on Open Table for 8:15pm. It wasn't honored. The waiter was very nice and thoroughly explained the menus and specials as this was our first visit to the restaurant. We ordered a dozen of raw oysters which were OKAY. I ordered the Fish and Grits and my husband had the Chicken Fried Chicken. The restaurant was beyond "noisy". We could barely hear the waiter or even hear our own conversation.The mini biscuits were the best. The Fish and Grits were bland and the halibut was overcooked. My husband's meal was decent but we are talking about chicken with greens and macaroni all served in the same dish. The greens were too sweet. We both ordered sweet tea and it was awful. My husband did enjoy the dark chocolate ice-cream. The service was extremely slow but our waiter worked hard at making sure our table was not neglected during the wait time. The food was very appealing until I took my first bite. I was expecting SO much more. I probably would not choose to eat at this establishment again. The noise on Thursday evening was just too much. The quality of the food should have been much better. It certainly wasn't worth $105.00 we paid. I want more than "it's okay" when I am spending over $100 bucks.

Look I'm just a simple ol southern gent from Nashville... but I thought this restaurant was amazing! I got the ribs and they were literally the best ribs I've ever had. I also tried the lamb, oysters, pork chop, and filet and I'm telling you they were all outrageously delicious. This was the first time I felt like I was in a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. You pay the price though, this place isn't cheap, but as far as I'm concerned it was worth every dollar.

This is more of a 3.5 star. Good food, but not great. Wouldn't take sometime here to impress them, too many better options.

I would give the restaurant 5 stars because the food was epic. The oysters outstanding. The problem I had was the $3 up charge for a big cube of ice. When I inquired about the cost of the Blanton s abs Angel s Envy I had ($17 and $15 More

Magnificent spot for steaks. try the strip, it was fantastically cut and grilled. Very busy though so make a reservation.

Waited 1 hour for appetizers. My wife was anoid and told waiter if we are not going to get our appetizer soon just give us bI'll for drinks so we can go eat somewhere else and they gave the bill for drinks and we had to go eat elsewere. Very rood and uncaring of there customers.

Nice place to have brunch with friends and family. Best part it had a movie playing on the bathroom wall. It was like my TCM on the go! Also it had basketball games on so I was able to enjoy my company as well my games. Service was wonderful. Only take away the brunch menu don't have a big selection on the weekends. I ordered the gravy and biscuits and left satisfied. Even though it's a limited menu it was very good food. Would like to come back with my spouse. Hint: Need to bring my own cup for the lemonade! Can't get enough! Best lemonade downtown by far!!!!

It was just ok. It was expensive for the menu items. Burgers, chicken, pasta. It wouldn't be my choice of restraunts the next time I go to Nashville. Service was ok. They add a 20% gratuity to all checks so be ready for that. But all in all I've had better.

Bustling bar and restaurant. Place has an electric energy to it. It will cost you a little but the food and drinks along with the classy environment make it worth it.

Good food and great service however drink orders take awhile.

First and most important, service was excellent. The brunch menu includes a wide selection of unique choices that are very satisfying. Highly recommend!

Called to check on wait times, and if a needed reservation. We were told none needed, got to the door and we were turned away and told a 2 hr wait. The entire patio was empty as well as most of the seats inside. This was all within 10 minutes of called to check.

Bad burger very dry. I couldn t eat it. Left hungry.

The two steaks we're both very undercooked. One they cut for us and still served rare when it was ordered medium. The second beer I ordered took 30 minutes to get and our server never came close enough to our table for me to cancel so she gave it to me with the check.

By far one of the best steak houses that I've been to in the country. Great whiskey list if you want premium labels. Do not order the cookie plate for dessert, big let down. Their banana bread pudding was amazing like the main course.

Very very loud. Food is way overpriced. Bathroom was filthy. Service was ok. Food taste was mediocre. Order two entrees and 2 drinks it was $100. Not a place for local Nashville residences. Would not recommend and will not be revisiting.

We come here for drinks and apps before events downtown. Great little place with good food and perfect people watching. We have had dinner here a few times, but we typically come for the oysters which are great.

Based on the other reviews, I must have caught this place on an off-night. The food was expensive and mediocre: my steak was very tough and difficult to chew. The drinks were delicious. We were looking for a place for a group of friends to catch up having not seen each other in a very long time. It was far too loud for this. It s fine. I had a good time. I just wouldn t go again for anything other than drinks. And the desserts sounded great, so maybe dessert too.

1st time guest. I was impressed with the spicy chicken and waffles for brunch. I would eat here again.

Went with a large group of people for a work function. We had a limited menu as everything was paid for by a vendor. Food was excellent. Portion sizes were great. Mixed drinks were very good. Service was awesome. I had the bless your heart salad, steak, and bananas foster for dessert. Will go back if I am ever on Nashville again.

Service in Nashville is some of the best service I have ever had ANYWHERE. Everyone is so genuine and friendly without being pushy or intrusive. Southern steak and Oyster is no exception. The waitstaff was lovely.

The space is great. Love the bar, the look and the feel of seating "in the round", the booth area, etc.

Breakfast was a OK.. I wasn't crazy about my friends Brisket (dry and weird block texture), the side potatoes were on the colder and sitting around soggy side. My crab omelet however was pretty fluffy and tasty.

I ate breakfast at the bar and had the eggs with crab, grits and biscuit. I also ordered 3 east coast oysters and got 4. I had a bloody Mary as well. Everything was GREAT! The bartenders were nice and friendly too. It was the best meal and experience in awhile. I can usually find something to pick at, but they did a great job. Super good grits.

Ordered the nudie suit and was able to pick my choice of cut with the chief. Cooked perfect and now a favorite when I visit Nashville. One of the best steaks I've ever eaten. You can pick wet aged or dry aged bone-in steak.

Had AL oysters....they were very good, and house sauces were also very good... service was acceptable, given waiter had a 6 table section . Concierge had said "best steak you will eat".... not quite...had 14 oz "dry aged" NY Strip steak.....it was cooked perfectly, but was rather chewy for a dry aged steak....maitre d'hotel butter was great. ....as were garlic mashed potatoes and haricot verts. Steak was not worth $ 50.00 price. I have eaten more tender CAB strip steaks cooked on home grill.....perhaps my experience (25 years in foodservice) dictates a higher bar.

I dined at The Southern on New Years Eve, with a Prix Fixed menu. I ordered a red wine and mushroom risotto. The appearance of this dish resembled wet dog food. It look as though all ingredients had been put in to a food processor and served in a bowl. The appearance was so awful I could hardly look at my dish, and the taste was not much better. Unfortunately, the dinner was $75/head. The only reason I am giving two stars, rather than one, is because the rest of my party ordered filets, and they thoroughly enjoyed theirs.

Sunday Brunch was very, very good along with the wait staff!

Came after airport pick up, no lunch 3 ish. We were told the lunch menu was closing in 5 min. We really wanted an early dinner so we waited and our waiter told us it would be 2 hours for a filetans the anytime menu was available. (Which is like nothing). We liked this place at first. We are native to Nashville and felt like we were treated as tourists. Not going back.

I have never tried chicken and waffles before and I feel like I was waiting to have chicken and waffles ("The Highway" on their menu) for the first time here. It was complete perfection. The service was also friendly and fast.

We asked a guy from Big Time Boots to recommend a restaurant for lunch and he told us to go to The Southern. He was so convincing, that we trudged through a rainstorm to try what he called "the best gumbo." It was fantastic!! The oysters and crab cakes were amazing. Our server, Jason, was terrific too!! If you like a little KICK to your food, this is the place for you. YUM!!

Service and food made for a perfect first night in Nashville. The Belle was very flavorful and just the right size. My girlfriend ordered the southern burger and it was amazing. Maybe the best burger I've ever had. Give this place a try.

This place is awesome. They have a side that mixes butternut squash and goat cheese that is to die for. They also make super yummy drinks.

The options are unique and they do an outstanding job with them.

Lighting could be better. The menu is downloaded on an app and you have to look at an image of the menu. Script would be much better. On Android it wouldn't expand so I had to screenshot so I i could enlarge it. Menu isn't the best format. More

Excellent restaurant with a choice of saves and alcohol. The service is discreet but most effective.
It is recommended to book to eat without much waiting in this restaurant of southern cuisine.
The burgers are extras.

Good oysters. We ordered 4 medium-rare steaks and 1 medium. They were all 1 level below what we ordered... My medium rare was rare (bloody in the middle).
Apps are really good
Drinks are good. Wine is very expensive here.

Delightful light late lunch after the country music hall of fame. Fabulous oysters. Delicious catch of the day (blackened grouper) salad. Extensive beer, bourbon and wine by the glass selections. Friendly, knowledge service. We enjoyed it ! Gluten free options too.

Have been here a few times and have always had a fantastic experience. Double-Cut Pork Chop is one of the highlights. Service has always been solid and if you can get past it being a bit noisy, it's one of the best places for fine dining in the downtown area.

I'm from Louisiana and I'm particular about my oysters. These guys know how to do them. Had a filet too. It was great!

Very good breakfast, cheesy grits with brisket and topped with a sunny side up egg. Grits were a little cooler temperature wise but still good, good brisket and grits topped with a sunny side up egg. My friends chicken and waffle, which I tried was well made. Good and cocktails that weren't just run of the mill but unique.

Highly recommend this gem! Owners were very gracious and the house was so Cozy and the memorabilia throughout was so interesting! We celebrated our 30th anniversary and plan to return in the future

Had a wonderful time for lunch! The atmosphere was awesome and my husband and I had a great time! We ordered oysters to start and they were some of the best we have ever had! We ordered a burger and a salad for our meals and they were absolutely fantastic! If you have the opportunity to go you should definitely do it. We will be back!

This is a high glitz low quality restaurant targeting tourists and business men. The food is significantly over priced and firmly average. It was both bland in flavor and options. Unfortunately it has gleaned high reviews making it appear to be a great choice.

Delicious downtown restaurant! I've never had a bad meal and the service is excellent. We usually order mid-price oysters and they're so tasty. You can get an excellent price on them during their lunch specials! If you have room for dessert, I recommend the bananas foster bread pudding.

Food is wonderful, atmosphere very fun. Ask for Dylan to be your waiter, he is the best. He actually wrote down his recommendations on hot spots for us to visit.

Take this review with a grain of salt. The venue is visually stunning. The food is delicious, but over priced. I understand that when you have an abundance of patrons, the owner can set his menu where the market bares. The times I've ate and stayed for great conversation, the wait staff has lost all interest in continuing service. The last time I visited, the waiter added an extra $10 to his tip. When I noticed the difference from my bank statement, I notified the manager and gave all the info with the server's name and copies of my receipt. This was my LAST visit because there was no offer of reimbursement for the criminal addition to my bill. Either this is a common occurrence or the manager was offended by something as petty as a $10 bump in tip.
