This area has so much charm! There is always something to see.... art displays, stalls or you can pop into Macy's

Busy as ever but it's not bad if you want that "city life" feeling

They've added two cafes on both ends which makes this San Francisco icon more convenient to hang around and enjoy the buzzing sounds of the city (... do some shopping on the high-end stores around if you like)

This place is beautiful for the holidays, they include a huge Christmas tree, ice skating, and happy family and friends. But during the normal times there is large open space for people to play instruments and displaying their art. There is also a parking lot.

This is where the heart sculptures are located. Each heart has a different design and it's pretty easy to get a picture with them. They are located at each corner. There was construction at one of the corners when I went there but the rest of the square is a good place to rest. They also have bike rentals and tour buses.

This is designated a park yet it's predominately stone and concrete. It's always crowded with tourists, of whom, the majority think that the giant heart statues must all be Tony Bennett's.

Best if travelled by public transportation. Can easily spend a couple of hours roaming around and lots of food options are available as well

Surround yourself with lights, shopping, and food at Union Square.

You'll have a great time here. So much activity here that you need to stay focused. Crowds cross the streets and the UBER drivers zip through faster than light. You will also have some interesting people sharing free information about religion and how you look or smell.

Food is everywhere, but you may go a block or two to get what you want. When the sky is dark the lights on the buildings are very beautiful, so stay here as long as you can for the night show.

Really a good place to just travel around and hop shops. During Christmas days, this place is packed and have a huge Christmas tree in the middle of it. Really amazing place. The only downside to this place is parking; the only parking I go to is directly in front of Macy s, underneath Union Square. It s a walk from everything. This place have great shops to go for shopping and great restaurants. My favorite place to go eat is at Cheesecake Factory on the very top floor of Macy s. I would highly recommend going here for a date, or just to hangout with friends, and family and to enjoy a great time around the people you love. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMING HERE.

Great shops around here, with the cheesecake factory on the 8th floor of Macy's too. Wine bar in Macy's gives a great view of the square if you can get a seat by the big windows. Make sure to go into all the department stores - they're great.

Always inviting, and a pleasant place to visit. Minus the contact high from the locals. Watch your bags, tenderloin thieves be about ya...

I love how strategic this place is. A beautiful park, with tram station, shopping district and in town.

In the sidewalk was a lady doing p...why park. The business in that area should keep clean and safety the commercial xone.

All the luxury shops are nearby. Been here about 10 years ago and it looks the same. Husbands will be bankrupt if they do not insist their spouses. Too many luxury goods for shopping. Man, be aware. Haha.

Biggest square in downtown, surrounded by whatever you want to do, shopping, museums, restaurants. or just amusing yourself. Just take a look around and enjoy yourself.!

This should be an amazing downtown square. Its just ok because its not super clean or well laid out. But its gun in the holidays, so that gave it an extra square.

Good place to hangout in San Francisco. Macy's has good selection of products.. Many branded stores nearby including Apple, Nike and Bvlgari

Not too large, but cozy place in the heart of city. There are many stores. Two cafe are located by both sides of square. There are places for sitting, if you are tired or just want to have a snack. I advise to go up on the last floor of Macy's, one of restaurants is located here has a nice terrace and you can make nice fotos of Union square.

A vibrant retail area at the centre of San Francisco

It's ok during the day but at night we couldn't find a place to sit and also we run into a bunch of mice.

The Christmas tree lightning was amazing. Ice skating was available but booked for that day.

The years-long BART extension and weird construction going on at the Southeast corner make the once beautiful Union Square less attractive.

Simply the best weather and Happy People today. Nice to see for a change.

Shopping! Shopping! Shopping! Everything you need is here. From all the best department stores local boutiques and eateries. Fast Pace watch out you might get run-over or be on the lookout it's the city.

Nice place to relax and have a smoke or a beer. Smells like urine in some areas but overall not the worst spot to hangout on downtime.

One of the best locations to experience the Christmas season, or just to shop when it is not the holiday season. Shop, eat and experience one of the most unique cities in the world.

Nice place to sit and relax with plenty activity going on around. Lots of construction was going on while I was there which uglied up the place considerably. Flowering trees and well kept plants helped to offset this, however.

Great plaza in the middle of the city. Since the Covid19 pandemic is still roaring, it was quite deserted and empty. The side coffee shops were shut down, so not much to do there. However I would imagine it's a great location to meet friends, go shopping, as high end retail is all around it, and I am in love with landscaping there. From majestic palm trees to flowering shrubs and smaller trees. It makes it very colorful and pleasant to be around.

Plenty of places to see and get the real San Francisco downtown feel. The Union Square is beautiful. The square has great artwork and beautiful flowers.

Great place to catch the Big Bus city tour. Good variety of shops within easy walk from here. You can watch the trams turn around on the turning circle at the bottom of the street and ride on them to the top of the hill.

It has entertainers. A lot of dining and shopping options. Hop on Hop off Bus stop.

Nothing good about it. Trash. Garbage. Homeless relieving themselves on the street, and sidewalk. Will never return. Your Democrat party at work.

I love going to the city for lunch and some shopping. Union square is a great place to park and start the day in the city.

Macy's! $90 for Coach leather wallets on clearance...pricey!

Great Area to stay. Filled with great restaurants, theaters, very centric. Will definitely stayin the same area next time.

Very beautiful and busy square (actually the main square ) in San Francisco. Now there is a ice skate rink and a huge Christmas tree. On the corner always some arts . You can have some coffees foods or drinks on the both sides of the square. Nice place to hang out

I love it! It's eclectic. There's always something going on here. We always park in this garage to start our San Francisco tour.

Union Square is a cool destination for both tourists and locals. In the winter, an ice rink is setup and a lot of the outdoor space is limited. Often the space is open, but it can be used for tent-parties, outdoor art gallery exhibits, and so much more that is worth a look. Sure, the activity around this part of SF is mostly shopping-related (often for tourists), but there are cool things all around which make this a center-point.

Union Square was my first place to visit in the city of San Francisco. It had the Macys, Victoria's Secret, and everything including the Westfield Mall. A different experience.

A perfect place to spend holiday evenings especially during dec time frame. It is lit with Christmas light with a gigantic Christmas tree. They have an ice skating ring where you can go out for a perfect date or just to hang out with friend or family with young kids. Macys right there for shopping lovers and parking is just under the union square for 2-5 $ per hr depending upon different time during the day. In short a place worth spending ur time.

There are hundreds of shops within this little area. I loved walking around and window shopping. The place is clean and the square was nice to sit down in and relax.

Beautiful mounments but always there is some construction that make that plaza pass unnoticed even when is the heart of the city

A San Francisco staple. Every brand you can think of seems to have a presence here... Apple, Macys, etc. We are here in mid-November and Macys has already decorated and put a tree in the middle of the Square. Very beautiful!

Excellent!!! A real nice experience. Very warm atmosphere, family friendly and enjoyable place. Definitely I recommend this place and everything here to a family or just friends who are looking to have a wonderful time or a unique experience in SF downtown.

Later night trip to the Cheesecake Factory lead us to Union Square. Quite a sight to see when you come from a small town. Both in terms of people and buildings! I would recommend going earlier to full take in the sights and sounds in the daylight. Then finish the day with a nice slice of cheesecake!

Tourist epicenter for sure, but not a terrible place to relax in the hustle and bustle.

Great place to score summer dope. Summers are nice because there is live music on Thursdays with movies and lots of physical exercises.

Small, perfect little oasis. Well designed and charming.
