Just a Square as so many others in Big Cities all over the world. Lots of nice Grand setores around Union Square, like Macy's, Apple, Nike, Louis Vuiton, Carrier, Tiffany, etc.
Meh. Another commercial space. Nothing more or less. Seen one, seen them all
This is the place that u can do many things. This is the center that tourists can find this place easily. Union Square is full of activities, surrounded with fashionable shops.
Under construction and rather underwhelming. Nice to say you've been there and an important historical site but not really anything else to see or do other than sit there and eat your lunch.
Very beautiful and scenic spot in downtown. Gets very busy, especially during holidays. Pretty much any shop you can think of here.
Great selections for shopping. Parking is pretty good. During the seasons it's very festive and well decorated for the public.
Great place just to relax grab a coffee and enjoy the day.
Awesome part of the city. Lots of history in amongst all the latest designer shops. Vibrant scene with alot of interesting characters.
Loud music, not seasonal, but great Macy's tree and beautiful weather. Gas @$3.41 a gallon, your heart's not all you'll leave the SF!
I visit Union Square every time I visit SF. There's always a unique experience for me when I visit here. And the guy that comes through blasting his music that gets people dancing and laughing is awesome. I found out he really is a fixture there. I've seen him every time.
Nothing special. Pretty crowded, lots of homeless people on the background of luxury stores
San Francisco is always beautiful, you just have to bear witness to it at the right place and the right time. Union Square can be a little hectic. Lots of peeps walking aimlessly and very narrow sidewalks and factor in the perpetual Construction it can be very overwhelming for some people especially if you have kids.. but if you can get over that then you're all good and the shoppings amazing. So is the food but the shopping is better
I freaking love this place. Always search for the events that happen here. Very accessible and is near to boutiques you love.
Great place all big brands food joint all at a single place
Lovely place. It will take you to a different time zone altogether. The courtyard setting is picturesque. There are plenty of shops to restaurants, cafes. There are tour buses also. Do visit!
Nice area with great shopping opportunities. Only major drawback is that the area is filthy and packed with the homeless. This makes one feel a little less safe overall. Don't let this deter you from visiting the area but be mindful of your surroundings and travel in a group if at all possible.
I have a love hate with Union. While it's very touristy and there is good shopping it also has a lot of homeless people. It's also right next to the tenderloin which is still an area that isn't great to walk through at night.
Busy holiday place with some fun window displays and I've skating. But crowded and hard to get in and out of especially with all the construction
The heart of San Francisco. Lots of shops around. Not the best zone for food
I use this as a place to have friends meet me here because it is easy to find and get here by feet or in a car to swoop me up or drop me off.
.
So I like coming here because when I mean shopping like for name brands or not name brands this is the area which has it all.
.
Also there is a park so you can sit and do people watch. As well they do have a cafe so you can order a glass of wine and enjoy your wine with the people watching.
.
As well this area is so pretty during the holidays so if your feeling the holiday spirits come here during thanksgiving and christmas time.
Beautiful place. Would've liked it more if it didnt smell like weed!
It's getting better now that the construction has finished. They have put up a huge Christmas tree :)
In the heart of San Francisco, surrounded by high-end fashion shops. From there one can start a city tour on a "hop on hop off" double decker or get on the iconic cable car for a different kind of experience.
Iove this area at night it is also a very beautiful view of the buildings
Heart of San Francisco great shopping and touring area
Very touristy and very overrated place. Didn't enjoy it.
Plenty of restaurants bars and shopping. Most of the shopping is upscale with top name brands.
If you are a tourist. You must visit Union Square. Seat and admire its arquitecture!!
San Francisco in December is perfect and union square at holiday time is just magical
I'm not all that find of San Francisco at all but I love Union Square
Walked through this square every day on my way to work when I'm a business trip and it was the bright spot of my morning.
Interesting cross section for window shopping and people watching
Beautiful place where you can find the most popular brand of clothes and food. It's excellent to spend time with family, friends and relatives. I recommend you to visit this luxury area into Downtown San Francisco.
Food is good, but it takes more than an hour to be seated
Union square is surrounding with brand shops and department stores. Many artists sell their products in the union square. Tour buses stop right there. Agents are trying to sell hop on hop off bus. Photographer took picture of a beautiful indian model. A lively square indeed.
Nice spot to stop by in. Really just a big rectangle with a cafe. Not much to see. You'll occasionally find people pushing their charities or political agenda here. Most of the people there are just taking smoke/lunch breaks. On occasion, they'll hold an event on the main area, like a skating rink during the holidays
Made up of large department stores, Union Square is a shopper s dream with tonnes of big name brands, outlets and coffee shops. Very busy, with trams and cable cars regularly running through the area. Macys, Bloomingdale s and Nordstrom are possibly the three largest stores. Union Square isn t the best touristy place to visit if you re here to visit San Fransisco, but it is certainly the beating heart of the hustle and bustle of the Downtown area.
Always happy to see this place specially during Christmas ice skating tacos and icreams how else u want to spend ur eve
I attended the best Free SF Tour at 10am by Filip! Highly Recommend!
Fun. Touristy. Crazy busy and lots of high end shopping. Love it.
Lovely clean and central square with loads of shopping around and places to grab food
But of a simple nowadays. Try not to stay on square if you can help it. SF has changed especially down town.. full of Zombies
Great place to find a sweater that you should have brought.
Great place lots of activities and stuff to do eat and see and shop lot of shopping placese
Nice city park with a true European cafe. The aroma of the baked goods lured me in from a block away!
Not exactly what it used to be, but Union Square still has some of that Big City charm!
Nice who doesn't like Neiman Marcus in Union square awesome
Bad luck for us because it was extra hot the day we went so we didn't spend time outside exploring the square. Locals told us that it was much hotter than normal. So, we mostly explored near by shops to stay in the air conditioning. The shops were nice.
We used the parking garage under Union Square and went to Macy's next door. The parking garage is OK but spaces are tight and the price is about $7 per hour.
Easy parking under the square. Plenty of high end stores within a few blocks walking distance.
It's a awesome place to roam around! Even there is a apple store near. There are many shopping stores there with famous brands.
Overcrowded by different types of sightseeing companys. No regulation. No order. Noone is willing to help or show the way. Needs a lot of work and organizing. Amazing location though.very touristy. I place where u can hop on trams
Santa Con event was Kool. Tho dampened by rain. Today was Sunny weather, so enjoyed it
Union Square is a centrally located historical landmark at the westernmost edge of the downtown/financial district. It's reputation pretty much speaks for itself.
NOTE: PLEASE REMEMBER, WHEN VISITING ANY OUTDOOR/RETAIL LOCATIONS , PLEASE WEAR A MASK.
usually crowded but is very lively and has lots of places to eat. also it's better to take the transit off of Powell station.
I was here in December and watched an ice skating performance, it was fun. It's a nice public space.
Great place to sit and see all the big buildings nearby. Some good street art collection as well
One of my all time favorite areas to shop. We've been coming here for 45 years.
Just wished they had a 24/7 cleaning service because of the smell
Many of us just assume that Golden Gate Bridge is or should be starting point to explore San Francisco. But I would rather start it from union square. This place certainly sums up the diversity that SFO has and gives you the glimpse that you can cover in San Francisco.
visited this place because its a must do if you are visiting SF. great to relax with a cup of coffee watch the crowd and unwind. its quite noisy though, not for those who prefer quiet environment to relax.
It's a square with occasional live music and the most bland tourist art imaginable. I walk through sometimes and it barely registers to me. This is not an attraction, it's barely a landmark.
High energy, must visit in San Francisco. Its always fun to go into Macy's huge shop windows and look upon the city square. Leads to other great shops like Apple, H&M, down the street is Westfield Mall. Sometimes the grass/plants look a little dead certain parts of the year but they look great when its all grown. Sometimes the homeless do hang around but that's part of any big city.
A perfect city central park, bordered by beautiful stores, boutiques, fine hotels and restaurants. Visitors and vacationers, whether lodging in one of the nearby hotels or the other SF hotels and motels located within the city, should include a day spent in and around Union Square, as even locals find it a go-to essential for shopping and dining. It is very San Francisco.
Union Square is a super nice district with lots of stores in the neighborhood.
The square itself is not so big, but is nice, surrounded with skyscrapers.
I was there in November, and there was a cute little ice skating rink.
Around the square you can find Macy s, Apple Store, Cheesecake Factory.
Wide open spaces. Great place to have some time out
Great shopping and dining options nearby. Nice Park in the heart of the city. San Francisco has had a growing problem with the homeless so it can smell like a urinal which is unfortunate. Hope a solution is found to assist those that need it.
Good spots and nice places to chill with shade on the grass along with tables and benches. Also good places to shop and eat around. Cable cars are a huge scam though, avoid.
Lively! Full if action.! Something is happening in Union Square all the time. Surrounded by superb big names in shopping - Macy's, Saks 5th Avenue, DSW, and so on and on. A lovely cafe in the square gives a person a place to just simply sit down over a cup of coffee and laze there for hours and watch the world go by.
The parking lot under the square is with lower parking fee , but I saw many mice there...
A great place to walk with your camera. Street photographers will like it here. Bathrooms are lacking in San Francisco, so plan ahead. Don't count on those green public restrooms. There's a line or they're locked for cleaning. Union Square can get too crowded on New Year's Eve for me, but during the holidays it is beautiful and festive.
No toilets for customers even if you just spent $2,000
Wow how nice! Lovely mix of Urine ,Feces, and exotic handbags!
Very tranquil spot in the middle of busy downtown area.
Homeless, aggressive, mentally ill interspersed with expensive retail. Seedy at best. Frightening at worst, in such a wealthy, socially conscious city. SFO immigration seedy, poorly staffed as well.
Ya, not into the dirty City and tons of homeless. Shopping was over rated, crowded, like my home town mall. Seagull and pigeon poop everywhere. It was depressing seeing the wealthier all around the homeless. Slept up on a 7th floor hotel and still heard a homeless bucket drummer between 2 and 4 am, thank goodness he was very talented!
It's quite a bit more relaxed now that nobody is there.
I was there for waiting for the Big Bus hop in and hop off city tour. It was so fun.
Best shopping area ever!! And you can also watch the art exbits and theres just alot going on
A wonderful Little Gym in the heart of San Francisco Greek restaurants shopping everything right there at your fingertips
My new home.... It's definitely taking some getting use too... But over all I love San Francisco...
