Union Square was a great neighborhood to explore. Bring an empty bag or two. San Francisco charges consumers extra fees for bags when shopping. Lots of flagship stores and restaurants in a walkable area.

Iconic and bustling, Union Square is in the middle of everything. You could spend an entire day in and around it, because there's shopping, cable cars, restaurants, and more within two blocks of here. Some areas are worth sitting down and relaxing in, while others are always crowded and filled with people crossing the square. At Christmas, the huge Christmas tree and ice rink are always great to visit.

Must see in San Francisco! There's always something going on here. Beautiful lights and an ice skating rink during the holidays. It's surrounded by all kinds of shopping. Great place to hang out for a bit and people watch.

Union Square is a nice public plaza with store lined streets. Its a popular area. The plaza itself has two nice cafes which are great to grab a coffee. My wife and I sat at one cafe and people watched. Despite all the people the area is fairly clean.

Love Union square, especially during the holidays. During the holidays, there is a gigantic Macy's Christmas tree they put up and a skating rink. They sometimes have events there. Even when there are no events, it's a nice place to sit around and relax.

Union Square at Christmas is a magical place. Complete with ice skating, Santa and giant holiday displays from all the major retailers. Macy's had live kittens and puppies in the window waiting to be adopted.

Other parts of San Francisco have changed over the years but Union Square has always been the same since I was a kid here in the 70s. It is the center of shopping and dining and and a good place for the average tourist with access to cable cars and places to spend all your hard-earned money.

The city of San Fran now smells of urine & a person literally steps over the feet of people actively shooting drugs in to their arms within a block of union square. Its really sad to see the decline of the city in the last 10 years. There are better options.

Nice park in San Francisco in the middle of top notch stores. Didn t like the homeless people accosting me asking for money. When you said no they started to call names. When is it that catering to them does not make the problem better.

The Christmas lights and festive atmosphere almost make up up for the traffic and parking nightmare. High end shopping and honestly a lovely experience as always. But never try to navigate the MC Escher streets and central SF parking in your own vehicle. Get a ride or better yet public transportation.

The city of San Francisco is incomplete without Union Square. It is the heart beat of SF and poses a great view amidst the hilly roads of SF! Ride the trolly, the oldest cable cars of US and get to Union Sq. If visiting during Christmas, they have a magnificent Christmas tree lit up in the centre of the square. It is a great place to hang out during afternoon-evening! Would be visiting again!

I do love Union Square. It is bustling, vibrant and there is always something going on. On a fine day, it is a great place to sit, have a coffee and watch the world go by. Union Square always has it's share of interesting characters. The square is surrounded by big, impressive department stores, hotels, restaurants, diners & coffee stops and lots of big name shops. We didn't spend much time there on this 2 day visit but it would be easy to spend a day shopping, eating and just taking it all in.We like staying in or near Union Square as everything is easily accessible from there.Show less

Attended during the holiday season and it will bring joy. Enough space to walk around without feeling overcrowded. Tree was beautiful, ice rink is a nice touch for an area that doesn't experience cold enough weather.

Lots of great places to shop, from high end boutiques (lv, bulgari, gucci, chanel, tiffany) to Macys and tory burch etc. Lots of great food nearby. Employees here are all very nice, I pretty much went shopping in my PJs and went to the the boutiques to get a present for my GF, no one ignored me and were very helpful in helping me find something.

Really nice with the ice skating rink and christmas tree during winter.

Stores all around. Ranging from Victoria's Secret to Dyson to Fifth Street Saks to Burberry and Macys. Around the block you have more stores like Walgreens Forever 21 Mcdonalds, Subways and the Cable Car Station. A good view of the center can be at Macys on the escalators near the front, or at the top floor at The Cheesecake Factory.

A landmark meeting point. But do specify which corner if you are using it as a meeting point. The square itself is nothing flash. Have seen better. The shops around it is a different matter.

A 24 hours public square park, surounding by a lot of five stars hotels and restaurants, upscale boutiques and choice of department stores. An unique and one of the most happening public city park in the west coast of the United States. You can feel the city of San Francisco there.

A lively spot to visit when in SF. Union Sq is host to quite a lot of events on weekends and the surrounding is lively enough to keep you engaged. It is in the heart of the city and worth a visit.

This place has been remodeled for a great improvement. Coroners and pavements are clean and easy to walk around. This area is always busy but it s getting more comfortable for all the visitors and locals. I hope I can come back sometime and I ll try to get the tram next time

Busy part of San Francisco. Tourists or business people will stay here and wonder why people like SF so much. Aside from Fisherman's Wharf, this is the "tourist trap" part of SF assuming you're not shopping for high-end clothing. It can be fun to come on weekends when artists sometimes exhibit their work in the square. Otherwise, this is a good place to avoid once you've seen it and experienced it once.

For the Free World loving soul it's the place to be. I felt so nice in the Union Square and around the area. There was Ice Skating as well organized. It was lovely to see kids giving a shot at Skating. It also tempted me to go skate, didn't do it. A reason to visit again. How I wish every city has a place like this.

This is a five star busy and vibrant place during end of year festivities when the ice rink is open.
The lights, garden and sweet-scented Brugmansia (Angels Trumpets) are to behold and to experience along with the pleasant atmosphere, great shops & many hotels in the area.
You also hear the sound of passing old-style trams and their occasional bells up and down the famous San Francisco hills.
