Fun place to visit and buy an ornament at Macy's and eat at the Cheesecake Factory.
Had a blast visiting SF. Laid back people and good smoke
Prepare for some walking. Ultimately, there's a lot of good stuff to do here: good restaurants, good stores, etc.
Like many epicenters of large cities, Union Square serves as a meeting point for many people of all walks of life (though seemingly mostly tourists). It is a great place to stop and people watch, either from one of the many sitting areas within the square itself, or from one of the cafes or restaurants on the square's perimeter. When the sun is out, it shines as it sets over the square, and people sunbathe as they drink their beverages and hang out with friends. Others walk their dogs or play hide-and-seek with their kids as pigeons coo in every corner.
Union square is fine during the year and absolutely awesome before Christmas
great place, but sometimes be careful with homeless people roaming around.
The intersection where SF cable cars (trams) and hop on hop off open upper deck buses meet. Ideal interchange between the two mode of transportation.
Plenty to see, lots of places to eat and shop. Lots of high end brands available.
Not to thrilled. Driving thru at a stop light. I was minding own biz and homelessness guy begged for $5. Told him. I carry no cash. He started to beat my car up. I cannot run a red light but as soon as it turned green. I screamed out of there. 2 other cars witnessed it. Traffic and construction. Will never get done fast enuf. :/
Undergoing building work and unless you want to visit Tiffanys or the Apple Store not really worth a visit.
Usually a nice place to walk around, but as if the date on this review they are remodeling the plaza or under construction, dont know how long is going to take
Today there was saree parade held beautifully arranged everything it was so good ,bhoot of snack ,kurta , jewelry etc .
One of the best place to visit in San Francisco. There are many restaurants, hotels, shops near by. Most of tour operators operate their buses nearby this place. There are shops of famous brands around this place. This is well maintained and has great opportunities for photography.
It's ok..its a centric plaza with malls and nice shops around, but the plaza itself doesn't offer much. In Xmas time there is a skating ring but that's about it. They have some painted hearts around the square, which are usually the photo corner.
At this time there were some construction going on so it wasn't super plesant.
We went to one of the cafes on the plaza and the food was really expensive (around $18 for a sandwich and a quiche) but they tasted very good though.
Great for luxury stores. Friendly, helpful people at most places I went to, except for the Chanel boutique
It's a busy area but beautiful to check out. The architecture is amazing, the air is crisp, the inner square was lined with vendors - paintings, sculptures, etc. It's a really easy Uber to other hotspots like the bridge, Chinatown, the financial district, etc.
Gorgeous area, great views all around! Historic and close to everything. Worth the visit, worth the stay. What a city, to bad I had to go home. My second home for sure!
Beautiful place to visit during the holidays. A family tradition for years.
Great spot. A little down because of Covid hence the 4 starts only. Otherwise, a cool hang out place.
Lots od homeless people. Anyway nice place to see during visit in sfo. Also place to drink or eat something.
What a magical place to visit during the Christmas holidays!
I love going to Union Square during the holidays. The Christmas lights, the sights and sounds of people chatting and Christmas music in the background. It's fun to watch the many ice skaters skate around the ring and see the different skating styles. Most of all everyone there was having a good time. There's a little cafe that serves hot cocoa and coffee which is a warm welcome especially when it's cold outside. The thrilling sight is the Christmas tree in Union Square all lighted up and the Menorah. Across the street you see Macy's windows all decked out. You can go to Macy's and go up to the highest floor overlooking the skating rink . You see the entire square with all the activities going on. You can go to St. Francis hotel across the way to see the magnificent gingerbread house that their bakers build every season. It's amazing how creative bakers can be and the architectural design of the gingerbread house they come up with. So much to see and so much to take in. It truly is a glorious time of the year.
Nice place.. in the heart of SF .. lots of fun... you will love the place !!!
Seems like a nice open space in all this craziness of San Francisco. Plenty of benches, chair and tables. Saw a lot of people taking pictures sitting around reading and relaxing. As well as a bunch of tourist. Just like me. There were a bunch of food options around, but they weren't open when we were there.
The center of San Francisco, full of high end shops and restaurants. Might not be the nicest part of the city, but still worth a visit.
I love San Francisco, I went on a Sunday and a band was playing in union square and people were dancing all over the place. Great atmosphere !
Important spot in SF, a small square, but holding some of the most important shops and facilities in the city: Apple store, Macy s, Fairmont hotel...
Smells like homeless but it's a nice area to stroll through
it's nice, with terrace tables to have lunch coffee/beer. very close to a lot of stores and restaurants. they're fixing it since last year.
Great spot to get a cuppa tea and relax in the sun surrounded by the bustle of SF. Very aesthetic.
Union Square is a very nice place to be specially at Christmas time with a very very large Christmas tree and a wonderful ice skating rink
The place to be In San Francisco, a lot of action over there
Wonderful place to visit during the winter holidays season.
I just love this plaza! The view is amazing from the top of Macy's! Especially when the sun is shining!
We visited for the Christmas Tree Lighting and had a fabulous time. There is construction in the area which made it feel more confined with the large crowd.
Beautiful place for tourists.. so many things around.. shopping, hotels, clubs, bars, live music everything you can find.. street walkers too ;)
Union Square decked out in holiday decorations with an outdoor ice rink.
Lotsa fun things to do in San Francisco to I love northern California
This is generally a very lively place right in the center of the downtown. Good place to hangout. The cable car starts from here. Go for a round all the way till Ghirardelli and back. The parking lot is convenient and pretty reasonably priced.
Beautiful place to visit when in SF! They have all kinds of stores and brands nearby. Around the holidays they put a big Christmas tree in the middle, perfect to take pictures. You can also take the tradicional cable car over there.
Very busy street. One of the finest place I have visited.
Beautiful place to sit in the sun and enjoy lunch and people watch!
Very nice area to walk around and very good restaurants. A good place to spend with friends and family.
Just the place to toast quietly in the sun, in Summer and ice skate your cares away, in Winter.
A must visit area for folks visiting San Francisco. Some amazing shopping and you can find some amazing deals there.
Good place for shopping and there are 4 heart sculptures in the 4 corners of the square, good place to take photos.
Nice looking and the hearts in the corners are good for a photo op.
The square itself is kind of underwhelming. It's a large concrete space with an tall monument in the middle that is covered in bird poop. Most people come to Union Square as they travel between the many high-end stores, hotels, and restaurants that surround it. Occasionally, there interesting free concerts or other performances here. During the winter there is a (not free) ice skating rink here.
Uhm this place is just so crowded. And it has a weird mix of people: locales, a lot of tourists, homeless. If you come here during the holidays get ready for a massive crowd and lines everywhere. The vibes are still nice though and gives you a real big city feeling. It's also a good place to hide from the cold wind and get lost in the endless shopping opportunities.
Amazingly prime and vibrant location of San Francisco. It also has an ice skating rink.
A must see place in San Franscisco.
It has lots of restaurants, shopping shop.
Truly the Middle of a Shoppers Paradise
every store you can imagin
From
Top desinger boutiques to top Department stores if you can't find it here then you wont find it anywhere a Shopoholics Dream!
Lovely little place to shop, take some pictures, or just for sit quietly and people watch
It is an upscale shopping centre. All big brands like Swarovski, Macy,'s, Gucci etc are present.
So much Christmas spirit and decorations. We especially loved the adoptable animals in the Macys windows.
The vibe here is uncanny! This is a must see place for all tourist. The coffee shop here is cute, we got to see the "brides of march" come through. So much fun!
The area is great for sitting to have a takeout meal and enjoying people but they really need to invest in more tables with umbrellas and seating.
If you don't mind tourist and the homeless problem of $F...
Nice city park, small but very clean, there are a few tables to sit and chill. Live music and shows at certain hours, nice spot to hang out after shopping in the area.
Atleast a place where my can finally see some beauty.
It s good square with good seating place. Some times you can enjoy live band & some shows. On visit to city spend some time to observe city from this place, many shopping places around.
So Many things to do around here. Shop, eat, walk, coffee. It s amazing the Vibe is great. You can literally just sit in the middle of Union Square and just chill. Gallery places are amazing, so many great pieces to admire and learn from . High end stores have the best pieces that are sold out anywhere else, if you are into fashion come shop here !
Great place for shopping and must visit cable car to Fisherman's wharf.
Always a great centralized location. Surrounded by Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Saxs and Barneys. Plenty of variety for food, drink and night life. Union Square has it all. Powell Street Trolly runs up the west side. Sight seeing tour rides are also available. Hop on-Hop off.
Nice place to visit during Christmas seeing the tree light up is cool we had a blast a lot of stuff to do and places to eat
Very historic.
Lots of high end shopping around also
This place is has air about it and the store and fashion building definitely make whip out the wallet or Credit Card
Many big department stores and name brand stores are around this area.
If you're going in the car it's okay otherwise great shopping
Center place and easy access to all nearby shopping place. Best place to park.
Like a ghost town, but everyone is in good spirits and ready to assist
It s a very nice square to sit and relax in San Francisco. Calm somehow
A good place to people watch. Lots of shops nearby. Sometimes this place hosts events but you have to check their site. Lots of pigeons around to observe. Some are sadly injured
Union Square is always a lively place to enjoy San Francisco. Macy's Union Square offered along with its many restaurants including the Cheesecake Factory on the 8th floor. Opposite of the restaurant on the 8th Floor using the main elevators is Backstage. The main elevators are the only way to find the New and Now Backstage. Brand new to the Union Square location, the entertainment of locating the correct elevators could only be matched by the great prices, wide assortment and the local shopping experience versus the high end shopping experiences that come with Union Square.
