Not my favorite place but when it's Santa Con it's kinda fun :)

Nice place to hangout during Christmas time. They have great Christmas Tree decoration and lights all over the place. They also have ice skating in there. There is Macy's just in front of it across the street and multiple shopping store around. Huge parking lot underneath and its cheap.

The Hub of San Francisco's upper scale shopping. This is the place with all the big names. If you're looking to spend a couple dollars but get the latest and greatest Fashions come here you will not be disappointed.

There's artist selling from photos, painting, crafts very unique then a short walk in any direction you got nice Hotel, restaurant, shopping all around very near, Fishermamwarf, greAt place to start your day and end for dinner......

Union Square is a great place for tourists. However, for locals it could be quite a headache driving downtown. There are a lot of activities to do in the area. The most beautiful time of year to go is around Christmas time because they set up amazing light displays as well as decorations and an ice skating rink! A great place to take visitors to take pictures

I can sit in Union Square all day, listening to the trolley bell and people watching while sipping a non-fat latte. Love the current of personalities that flow through Union Square.

Definitely the place to be if you're trying to take a tour or a trolley. Nice place to sit and rest as well. Plenty of eateries around.

Best place in San Francisco to sit and soak in the hustle of people and catch up some great restaurant and shop from great shops around.

It is nice to visit art galleries, visit consulates for special events and eat, of course

Not my thing. I know people think it's cool. Other places I like better.

It's a shopping destination in the heart of the city. Macy's, H&M, Old Navy, 21 Forever and a lot many stores are very close in the vicinity. The clothes in Macy's were ridiculously expensive and not even worth the price. Starbucks is also nearby.

Union Square is a pleasant place to visit while in San Francisco. Get the atmosphere, visit the upscale stores around and grab some eats at the surrounding restaurants

Part of SF history with nearby shopping, dining, and launching outward via bus or cable car.

Occasional events, and surrounding architecture are easily match by the great people watching from this vantage point. Check out the trendy Apple store, the swanky St. Francis, or the high windows or balcony at one or more of the tall buildings.

Macy's woman's store with its rooftop Cheesecake Factory has a view that I find exciting, but then fear of heights is pretty much in my top three fears... Actually, it is glassed in pretty well, so the view is great, but the vertigo is manageable.

Great central place surrounded by some of the best shop's.

Best vibe in town! Green, trees, sun and people all chillaxin. People playing hacky sack, throwing the ball, drinking some beverages and smokin herb. Couldn't ask for a better San Fran feeling.

I loved watching tourists from around the world walking around wide eyed and smiling with Xmas spirit!

It's a nice Square, with cable cars trundling up and down, a couple of art installations etc. , Posh shops, tourists and what have you. But is it a truly world class, 5 star square? I think not, hence 4 stars. It doesn't have the panache & Joie de Vivre of many European squares, the Kremlin of the Red Square, the size of Tianamen, the razmatazz of Times Square, the column and art galleries of Trafalgar or the usefulness of a set square. Could do better.

Fabulous spot to soak up some sun at the park while being entertained by the Times Square vibe from the huge billboard like ads facing the park from surrounding businesses. Lots of great photo opps here like in front of one of the many heart shaped art pieces on the corners. Also there was a movie screen near the center showing clips from the SFFilm festival going on at the time. Another great reason to pop on over

Another great place to just walk around and just take in the sights.

This is one of the most popular trendy shopping centers in San Francisco. It has a large square park with a cafe, benches, manicured garden beds and modern art pieces. It is surrounded on all sides by trendy stores for technology, clothes and jewelry.

A very small open space with some seating. It's a nice pit stop with restaurants and shops surrounding the tiny square. Otherwise, there is not much to see or do there.

It seems to have going through construction recently. So sad I couldn't see whole view of union square. But it was definitely in the middle of Sanfrancisco. China town is near

Not great. A big square with decent shops around it but the overwhelming impression is not good. Too many homeless people and an unpleasant atmosphere. Just walk through and don't stop.

Beautiful weather! Great time! We walked all over the city.

I've signed up for every class I can attend. I took a huge leap forward as an artist after Rudy's open studio and Ashly helped me learn Procreate. The glass windows opened up to let the beautiful day in. I walked away feeling inspired.

Very accessible for power wheelchairs and beautiful for photo ops

My favorite place in San Francisco. There is always so much to see, do, and eat here.

So amazing the Macy's across the street has a great view and also a cheesecake factory so yum the people are nice and there is a cable car stop near by also don't forget the cool tour busses

I've been to San Francisco 7 times in my life and every time I go you have to go to Union Square just to sit right in the center observe all the beautiful buildings of corporate headlines of Macy's H&M Forever 21 JCPenney's it's a sight to see you have to check it out

Not very spectacular. There was a lot of construction work going on when I was there.

Its undergoing some renovations but as usual beautiful

always fun to walk around, except when one ends up in the TL by accident lol

Union Square isn't my cup of tea, but even if you do like global corporate shopping, right now the construction for the Downtown MUNI extension has made it crummy looking and crowded. Even the holiday decorations are disappointing. Sadly also the worsening local incompetence and and societal failure at caring for the addicted and mentally unstable means that a lot of those folks wander the streets around the clock, leaving their discarded food, poo, pee, and vomit everywhere, and occasionally accosting people. For some reason, throngs of people still crowd it during the summer and winter holidays, making it even more unpleasant. I only go to specific shops (or medical providers) during the workday at lunch, and when I don't have other options.

Parking is difficult. But I found cheap parking lot. A heart art scalapter are there.

It's prettier here at night around this time of year. If your trying to enjoy the holiday feels then yes def come at night and enjoy!

I am not a big fan of this place in the afternoon because it is super hot without any shades. But in the evening it is windy and chill.

One of the the nicest areas in downtown San Francisco

Touristy but fun if that's what your looking for. Great shopping too.

Lovely place to be new years day and afternoons to find yourself shopping at different places right in an area without leaving your destination

All the famous stores are here. Powell BART station has several entrance here. Macys is a separate building. Westfield mall has food court, Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom.

You must go during Christmas season...St. Francis lobby has beautiful gingerbread castles and devorations and top floor of Macus has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Square.

Very central square, but there is nothing special about it, used mainly as a meeting point. However it is in a central location and there are numerous shops near it so it is worth visiting to go and check them out and do some shopping.

Can't say much about this place. Have only visit during the night. Seems calm.

Nice square but not world class or anything like that.

While Union square has an erstwhile named park, it is a far cry from the other green space in the city. Union Square is frequented by locals and tourists in what can only be described as hordes. This upscale shopping neighborhood boasts every large luxury name - LV, Moncler, Burberry, Saks Fifth Avenue and so many others. This place is roundly filled with crowds and crowd noise during most weekends. I would visit this place only if I am looking to buy something expensive while feeling expensive.

Every great city has a location like Union Square. Central location with great shopping and activities around it. We came around Christmas season and were able to see the ice skating rink, the Macy's Christmas tree, the Menorah that was set up. It was all done beautifully! We really got the sense of the holiday spirit in San Francisco.

I recommend coming here for beautiful pictures by the tree and maybe taking your time and ice skating! Children will love that there's helpers to steady you (in the form of penguins!!!) Also, you're very close to transportation and touristy cable cars.

Fantastic place to see city center in San Francisco

Black Friday on Union Square in San Francisco. The store windows were all ready for Christmas. The energy in the square was palpable. The crowds were great!

Good place to see street performers and local artists. The area attracts a lot of beggars. Close to Chinatown. Nice to see but would prefer other areas of the city.

Amazing place. Very clean. Everything is at walking distance. Very centric.

Prepare to spend some $$. Eno wine bar is good for a quick drink. Bartlett gastropub.... yum. Tori Burch amazing

Sometimes it gets too busy but it becomes my favorite on Christmas!! There are 2 little coffee shops on both sides of union square but they are pricey!

There are lots of stores for shopping and lots of restaurants in the area. Accessible through the muni bus or Bart subway. There is an ice skating rink for the holidays.

Great place to relax and seat. In the middle of high end shopping area in downtown SF. Don't be fool though, there are reasonable stores too. And places to eat and places to stay. The place is use for festivals and other holidays

Loved it!!! I went to eat at the Cheesecake Factory ( we sat at the roof top, beautiful view) and the food was delicious and our waiter was amazing!!

During the Christmas Season the best place to have fun shopping

Great area to take a break in the heart of San Fransisco. Definitely a place for tourists - it's fun to hear all the different languages and accents as groups of people walk by. There are food and beverage options and a public restroom. I enjoyed reading the history of Union Square (engraved on retaining wall at corner of Powell and Geary).

Nice location, best views of city but homeless people asking for alms and begging is spoiling the city now.

It's an open park full of tourists where they catch their tourists buses. There are homeless people bothering the tourists. Not a reflection of the park itself.

Fantastic tourist spot! Try public transportation or rideshare to get here if you're a tourist

Great! Cute! Lots too see, different things to do like shop and eat. A good amount of homeless so just be careful. Most are harmless but some got a little testy and agitated.

Plenty of shops and restaurant around, great for dinning and shopping as well as taking photos!

At this hour..the street and sidewalk cleaners. Brave souls.
