Very busy like the rest of San Francisco but it s fun to see all the hotels and shops around, it s a quiet place in the middle of all that. Our hotel over looked union square and it s really pretty at night

Fun spot to visit. Iconic. Fun vibe. Watch your belongings lol. Ice rink was cool.

The crowd was not good -4 but it was in itself good so +1 .

The food here is always amazing and the service is always sub par. It seems like there are new servers every other week. The service isn t so much bad as it is unfriendly. But I can put up with that for great food.

Also if u just want a pastry you can cut the line to get it and go. But you might get yelled at for doing it.

Great place to hang out especially after shopping. even if you're not shopping, a visit here will not disappoint.

Lots of great shopping and it is beautiful at xmas. Wish there was a little better monitoring during late night hours. Have seen lots of people using drugs. One guy was pass out with a needle still stuck in his arm

The center stage of San Francisco. Enjoy shop til you drop at all of the premium brand stores nearby Union square.

Can't go to the city and not hit it. Iconic. Do daily grill for brunch

Great during the winter when the ice skating rink is there. Seems more homeless take up residence during the warmer months.

Pretty neat place to stand in the middle of. Good shopping close to the square. Restaurants were very busy. Nice and handy to explore the Dragon Gate and Chinatown too.

Great place to people watch and get a feel for SFO . Also a tourist trap.

It is basically a outdoor park. Winter time there is ice skating. A good starting point for walking tours.

Great place for girlfriends to hang out. Wear your flats and everything is walking distance.

Great place to shopping. Visit Cheesecake Factory on top of Macy's store, for a great view of the square

And if you like to smoke weed the homeless get blazed here all day long.

A small patch of outdoor space in downtown SF. A great place to eat outside and people watch. If walk a little away from the "chain stores" that surround the square into the local neighborhoods, you can find some great places for food like the Beanstalk cafe (see my and other reviews for that).

Lots of traffic like most city area. Full of activities. If you like shopping, this is the place. Near to a lot of attractions but parking fees is very very costly.

find most of the prestigious brands outlets for all kind of retails. One can find hotels, art galleries, restaurants, snacks points and theaters for best of time spend here. We strolled for around two hours in the market particularly visited the Macy s. The Union Square has a park which was a gathering place for demonstrations by union people. Now a days it boasts to be a political and cultural gathering place where some activity always on.

So overwhelming but so worth the shopping experience.

Great open space to grab a table and play a 2v2 board game, people watch, eat lunch, look at the market art.

Union Square has a few places to grab a bite and glass of wine. There are always various live performances as well as art exhibits.The Angels Trumpet flowers cover the entire park with a pleasant aroma. Union Square hosts Santa Con in December along with an Ice Rink throughout the holiday season.

Lovely outdoor place nice and clean for inside city

The buildings are always uncomfortably unsymmetrical. Union Square was constructed originally on a very large sand dunes that overlooked the port.

During winter, there is a large christmas tree that lights up 24/7. There is also a place to do ice skating. The ice skating is a good place families and couples to hang out. It makes a memorable moment for everyone.

Beautiful and awesome place in San Francisco. You can spend your leisure time to sit and read in a sunny day. Centrally located and near to Macy, cheese factory, market street and the cable car station. Relax and chill in a cold Breeze with sun light is definitely great..

Love the whole experience! The people the shopping if you are fancy this place is for you. Plus ice lessons for free!

Nice shipping area and open space. With good public transport connections from other parts of town

Union square was as it always has been: beautiful. The pleasantly brisk winter air blowing over the almost completed ice rink serve as healthy reminders that you might want to start looking at the surrounding shops for Christmas gifts.

It's not a massive square like some of us travellers think, but it's great! Surrounded by a great range of shops from Tiffany & co to cheap souvenir shops. Catch the Cable cars, lovely restaurants, day tour buses and more. Stay around here when in town.

Very busy area. Populated with many things to do and see. Also the starting point for the BigBus tour. However the queue can be fairly long throughout the day.

Great shopping and walking area. People watching is very rewarding, some unique characters out there.

Nice during the day... creepy at night with lots of creeps creeping about.

Always looks nice around holiday time. Went here for the skating rink and it's just so pretty with all the lights and there's even a DJ while your skating. Nice date night

Great place to go when you need Louis Vuitton Gucci or MCM gear

There's some construction going on, for more than a year I believe? It's nice for shopping or for a coffee break and during the holidays just have some city of lights experience.

Lots of shopping and people. There's construction everywhere so please be careful and watch where you're going.

Macy's at Union Square was awesome! It is sooooo big! Bars, restaurant, and shopping!! Love it!

If you need to walk around and enjoy what you see in SF, pass by Union Square.

Pay a visit but protect your bag while walking.
There is low ground parking which is fantastic.

Union Square has a good atmosphere and there are cool heart sculptures placed around. The stores and hotels around have very neat architecture. The square is right next to the Macy's where you can go to the top floor and have a view of the whole square.

Lovely place to relax and chill or shop until you drop the architectural buildings are spectacular

Great place lots of shopping places to go the mall is near by u can use the trolley or the electric busses lots of places to eat and enjoy a day in the city

I visited this place at night, i have given it a 4 star because even though it was closed for cleaning it was still attractive.

It was decorated beautifully for Christmas. I could feel festive energy in the air. People come from around the world to visit Union Square. The city and surrounding shops make it special with decorations and by hosting special events there.

Large open area with a lot of assorted shows that change every weekend. During the winter, there is skating. During the summer, there are a ton of art exhibits. Right in the middle of the shopping area, Union Square is a fun place to walk through and hang out.

Beautiful place, I ve been here multiple times and it was great to visit for Christmas. Reminds me of a smaller version of Bryant Park in Manhattan!

Was wonderful to walk around, witnessing the huge Xmas tree by Macy's and an I've skating rink- befitting the end of the year experience.

Lots of things to do and see. Several post holiday sales.

I walk my dog here... The grass is less abundant than most parks in the city, but that takes nothing from Union Square's atmosphere. With a never ending mass of tourists and tour buses, as well as, locals, walking thier dogs it's hip to be square but only if you keep inside these 7 X 7 square miles.

Busy area, shopping for jewery and apparell, good eateries and great during Christmas.

Big surprise on my last trip here. I went out from my hotel to get a bite to eat at a highly rated place. It was like .4 of mile so I decided to walk there. The human feces, urine, people openly shooting up drugs and actively asking for hand outs was crazy! One guy even whipped it out and peed as I walked by.. I was a bit shocked that parts of Union Square have such humanitarian issues, especially with the supposed wealth of the city.

Watched the Chinese new year parade her. Very fun!

Inner park was under construction. The cafe was awful. I might have liked it more if I was into shopping. Probably a good place for people watching when it's not under construction. Just get your coffee/snack/etc somewhere else.

Dirty sidewalks and homeless people everywhere, my wife didn't feel safe

Union Square is always a great place to be in San Francisco, really the heart of the city. It becomes especially nice at Christmas time when the big tree is erected and the skating rink opens. Also the upscale business surrounding the square, such as e.g. the Macys department store, do their very best to contribute to the Christmas atmosphere.

Great place to sit down and relax within the crowd of SF.

It was a warm sultry night in SF tonight and by this/the historic Hotelier ode to the Magnificence of BygoneEras. I took pictures. I had fun.
