Beautiful place for relaxing and just spending quiet time for couples.

Went for team dinner. Buffet is good with more choice for non veges but for veges less variety. Dessert is also good.

A Wonderful Resort. From its Excellent Customer Service to the superbly tasting culinary preparations, it was a great experience. Above and Beyond experience. It was My first time and after this its would be my preferred choice to stay in Penang Island.

It was 5 stars until checkout.
Anyway, it was the best.

We were on a bullet tour so we arrived at the hotel late so we couldn't get service in the lounge.
I knew that, so I asked the tourist to negotiate so that I could receive service in the lounge even after checking out, and I got OK.
Nevertheless, I could not receive it.
I asked the local staff to explain the situation over the phone, but I was yelling over the phone and was very uncomfortable. (I wouldn't shout at us)
It is ruined at the end of the trip.

Astonishing greenery with magnificent 200 years old trees, spacious rooms with outdoor baths and serene pool area at the club zone, but the F&B offering lacks flair. Breakfast buffet fruit selection and quality is deplorable, as much as the in room welcome fruit platter. It is time to say no to commercially grown, tastless, imported produce from overseas and embrace the riches of the local markets! Where did the five star hotels get the idea that Green Apples, table grapes (from Australia?), and totally unripe Rock Melons are emblematic to tropical bounty of Asia?! Even the F&B manager admitted that none of the fruit are local...

How about giving your Guests a chance to discover something new, something with a sense of place dear Shangri La? How about replacing an apple that has been sitting in a chiller for at least a month with a cacao pod on the coffee table? Little to eat but at least exciting to look at when entering the room and something your Guests would lovingly steal as a memorable token of their stay!

Not to mention that none of the outlets serves fresh young coconuts, as perfect hydration, that actually grows on the beach and most likely ends up in the bin as garden waste.

Newly repainted (?) balcony balustrade smells terribly in the heat of the midday sun making it impossible to enjoy the outdoor seating.

Big thumbs up for locally bottled in glass complimentary water, next step to take care of the plastic straws and single use, individually packed bath amenities...

It is also the first hotel in 7 years of travels across South East Asia with so many staff present and so few smiles. We were spared one at check out and one more from the security guard at front entrance. Yes we counted...

There have lovely and comfortable hotel rooms, though it's a bit old. Breakfast was great, although it was really packed due to the weekends. The pool was great, the water was warm. The beach they had was also great, the sea though it's not clear but it feels great just to get soaked by the seawater and sit on the beach and feel the wind breeze. The location is the main problem as it takes 40 minutes just to go into town, where all the attractions and food are

One of the best resorts we stayed in, the nature there is absolutely great. Staff are friendly and smiling all the time. The resorts facilities and activities are variable and comprehensive (water sports, SPA, restaurants, lounge, garden, public swimming pool, Saloon ext..). Fast checkin\out. We had our break fast in spice market cafe which was good (indoor and outdoor tables are available). Our stay was in rasa wing room with private pool, it was great. Highly recommended for honeymoon.

We spent a week here from 19th Feb. Absolutely beautiful, great staff, great food and service. Pool is lovely as are the gardens, no parasols in the garden area, only around the pool, but not many and the families need them for their children. Or they get nabbed by people putting towels on them. Location is great and they offer a bus shuttle service in Georgetown, which you really should visit. But the hotel is great.

Great view definitely, just by the beach. But the hotel is a bit old and honestly a bit scary. The gym is so hidden and took a bit of walk to reach. I need to be accompanied to go to the gym because i am just that scared! But the gym equipments were not bad at all!

The service staff are excellent. Patient and ever attentive to their guest needs.

Services and facilities were really great. Nice area, but the beach was not that good

The room we got was dated, but what was worse was that it reeked of cigarettes. The staff made it so much worse by lying right to our faces (do you think we are stupid?! We caught them in their lie and they still tried to deny it). Would never recommend anyone we know to this hotel.

A serene resort with world class service by the ever attentive staffs. Rasa Sayang have continued to impress even for the regulars. Their amenities may not be the top but the service have been exceptional and is well known. We loved the place for a time to lay back and enjoy the serenity. Food have always been good especially their spice garden seafood buffet. Come and just let loose.

Lovely place to stay. Pros is the 5 star service which is seldom heard of in other hotels, great swimming pools, beautifully landscaped gardens.
Cons is lots of mosquitoes. Well, it's Malaysian ....

We were blessed to have recently stayed for 8 nights in the Rassa wing.
If I had to pick fault them on anything I'm happy to say I have nothing to fault them on.
From care and detail in keeping the room tip top thanks to Natasha it was beautiful. To the service and care of the team at reception, restaurants, pool, pitch and putt golf, gym, Clare at the spa to even the grounds people and security everyone we met were very friendly and made you feel very special.
The food was delicious and plenty of choices.
I would highly recommend staying.

Another hotel by Shangri-La! One of the best places to stay in Penang. Good architecture and the rooms are very good. Hotel service is good and child friendly. But no private beach area and quality of food needs massive improvement, specially considering the fact that this is Malaysia! Expected more from the chefs. But a good hotel to stay overall

The resort is good but the staff is not good to deal with and the guests are inflexible and uncooperative and have a hard time handling and my experience will never be repeated at this resort

Hotel is dated but the upkeep is fantastic. Staff are super warm and friendly. Food is average.

Possibly the best resort I have been to. The environment is incredible, you can easily get to know the staff well and every day there are plenty of daily activities that anyone can join in at the pool. I was staying in the garden wing so I recommended that one. Also the food is great and if you do want to get out a bit, go visit the market with many restaurants. The hotel will offer to give you a lift down there for free in a buggy. Also an amazing Indian restaurant called sri ananda Bhawan is just a 10 minute taxi ride away and right next to is an amazing Lebanese cuisine called Lebanon which is more fancy for finer diners. The hotel staff will know these restaurants if you ask them. The only downside I can think of is the beach being boring and a bit absent, but hey who needs the beach when you have a massive pool! Overall a memorable experience and it is worth a shot for you to go too!

Strict security toward the beach...

Not sure was it because we're not staying in their hotel. The security will ask you to leave the beach or not to trespassing onto their beach! Otherwise, they will keep using bangla slang, english speech thru their walkies-talkie informing their management.

Hello! The beach is all connected and it is belong to public. You want to stop people from walking along the seaside. Then, moved to smaller private island!

Great experience here with the family and I d be more than happy to visit again. Nice spa, swimming pools and wide selection of cuisines for breakfast and dinner.

A short 5-15 minute walk into Batu Ferringhi town through the night markets to visit various shops and restaurants down the main road so you may want to take a taxi depending on how adventurous you are but the whole town felt very safe.

Enjoyed the stay, the hospitality, the amenities. Very friendly and helpful staffs, nice room, good food and not to forget awesome view. Near to many attractive places such as batu ferringhi night market, butterfly farm and avatar secret garden. Totally worth it!

It was a very satisfying place for my 3 night stay. The meal was good and the facilities were good.

As a tip, we recommend staying at the Rasa Wing and staying in the breakfast and dinner package. If you take advantage of the complimentary afternoon tea and happy hour provided to Rasa Wing guests, you can enjoy all three meals in the resort. Free drinks are available at the poolside bar.

Best hotel in Penang, general location and fantastic beach

Beautiful place. Perfect, except for the highly polluted sea. Perhaps one day the government might seek to manage what used to be an asset, the sea that laps the western shore of Penang. At the moment, the Andaman Sea where it meets Penang is a toxic smelly mess.

Very good service and nice staff. Very quick in response to telephone rquests made from the room.
Nice facilities and are generous in their services. Buffet breakfast is only missing smoked salmon.

Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort.. awesome malay name. Beautiful Resort in the Gardens. Seaside n seaview Resort. Huge garden pools. Nice staying here. Raintrees around the resort so cool n make this resort near to nature n feel comfort to visitors. Selected in_house restaurant n yummy foods. Have own Spa too with pool.

My trip to Malaysia I lived in Casa del Mar Langkawi, Sunway Lagoon Koala, and now in Shangri-La Rasa, until now this is the best, most beautiful and most wonderful hotel I visited, luxury and well-being, everyone smiles at you, the best period in the Malaysia trip, I wish I had stayed 10 nights .

wonderful, calm and moderen place. when you visit it, you feel like you are in paradise. the staff are very kind and friendly, all are smile. you feel you are in your home. there are gym, sawna and swimming pool too.
room is so good, big and so clean.
I recommend that you visit this place especially in weekends and holiday.

The service was perfectly fine, and the grounds are well kept and quite beautiful. Unfortunately the rooms are very outdated, small and dirty. The hallways and elevators are also in desperate need for a renovation. In my opinion it doesn't live up to Shangri La standards by a long shot, and is totally overpriced.

After 27 years, revisiting this Resort , still Maintain the best place to come here for my Memory .

Came here for a dinner buffet. Price is around RM 156 (sponsored by my company).. ;)

They have a wide variety of seafood choices... the salmon in particular was amazing. They also have a diversity of dishes (from Indian, Malay to Chinese). The lamb satay is something to be dreamt about :) Also, what s a buffet without desserts. They have various assorted cakes and loved the trifle!

Only down side is they don t have a Muslim Prayer room. For a 5star hotel
