Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort and Golden Sands Resort Review

What can I say.. a place for relaxation and one of the best resort in Penang.

The most luxurious hotel in Penang on Batu Ferringhi Beach Rasa is a luxury building offering everything I would recommend and the first choice for the Penang traveler

Nice, clean place.
I advise everyone to book it.
His only fault is the lack of variety in breakfast dishes

The 'Eat All You Can Life Seafood Cooking' beffet is superb especially the lobster. Environment, food and service is good.

Excellent Hotel in Batu Ferringhi. The services here are what you would expect from a 5 star Hotel owned my Shangri-la, remember to take your Shangri-la card to get a discount on F&B. I tried the restaurant buffet which covers many styles of cooking, Indian, Malay, Chinese, Japanese, hot and cold food, with a very large selection of desserts. One downside was I was looking forward to sitting in the balcony area with the breeze in the early evening but it seems the Hotel has decided to enclose this area with clear plastic , which obviously can be raised , but not in the evening !

A 47 year old property that dates back to being the first resort on Penang Island. This grand ol dame has aged respectfully and has been well maintained and refurbished to keep up with the times. The rooms are immaculate and the gardens a sight to behold. Haven't seen such well manicured lawns and trees and foliage at any property around Malaysia as does exist here. The team that man this property are a cheerful bunch and as a whole this is as good a Shangri-La experience as one could get.

Excellent stay-very cordial staffs-we thoroughly enjoyed

At night the carpark is so dark and has no lamp post around. The lights projected to the tree and it counts on the mild reflection from the tree to light up the road. Its freaky scary.

Almost always full, same today. The same quality food we expected. =)

Beautiful, quiet, not alot if kids compared to neighbor Golden Sands hotel...

A place for a weekend getaway. Beach is near and the hotel has a spacious outdoor facilities ideal for sun bathe and doing exercises.

Beautiful gardens, swimming in the sea not advisable because of the water quality. Definitely book Rasa Wing with free breakfast, soft drinks, evening canapees and alcohol.

Very resort-style Shangri-La hotel, reasonably priced, good food at the restaurant

The hotel is beautiful, the overall service is very good - it's all let down by it's kitchen. The food is basic and has little taste, even breakfast is well below par. The setting by the beach is wonderful but dont turn around. There is a handful of old stores selling foot rubs and well not a lot else. There is of course a mosque calling its followers to pray on a regular basis which if that's your faith great but if it's not........ I guess given the cost of the resort you could stay in the grounds but then you have to put up with food.

A beautiful, quiet and comfortable place. I spent the most beautiful and enjoyable time. The rooms are large and beautiful. The place is more than wonderful. I recommend visiting it.

Nice place in a great location. You can stay in the resort or take a short walk and enjoy a myriad of local eateries.

Generally speaking the hotel is great. The staff helpfull and friendly.
Unfortunatley our visit was marred by a trip to the Ferrenghi Grill, where we had the worst meal of or holiday.

Very nice dinner at the Beech Cafe Rasa Sayang. Good food and very friendful staff. Fantastic sunset over the sea.

It has been a while since I last stayed here but it was by far the best hotel I have stayed at on Batu Feringgi Beach. Always nice to be directly on the beach when you are staying in a beach resort. I also remember taking part in a very good hike to the waterfalls from here.

Family and friends alike just love dining at Spice Garden restaurant, especially for buffet events.
The 'go to place' for special treats and pampering ones' taste buds.
You'd be hard pushed not to enjoy the experience. Casual wear acceptable in this restaurant but..... not so at Rasa Sayang Ferringhi Grill upstairs. Here you need smart casual polo / biz shirt long or short sleeves and long trousers. No flip flops here in the grill please!!!
Relax settle back and enjoy the top quality service and varied menu.
I'll be a repeat user. Oh... And it's worth joining their 'Q Club' for dining at Shangri La's assorted around and affiliated restaurants around the world with worthwhile discounts as a bonus. Enjoy and thank you all staff who made our Christmas Day Dinner and New Year's Eve dinner in 2018. Our fellow guests were mightily impressed. See you again soon.

Anyone who loves the sea and swimming best sandy beach

Old building but maintained well, beach is so-so. Quiet main pool and quite secluded.

Lovely resort and staff. My family and I had a wonderful time.

This is my third visit, but I love it.
The feeling and response of employees are good, and the inside of the site is cleaned cleanly.
You can rest assured in the hotel.
The kids were a big favorite with the pool.
I like it because it can be enjoyed while interacting with people from various countries and not crowded.
The pool in Lhasa Sayan has some depth and I think it can be enjoyed in the middle and lower grades of elementary school with a little calm atmosphere.
There are many Golden Sands people with small children. This is always a little crowded.
However, even a slide may be difficult for a small child without swimming ability to some extent. It is all right if the parents and children slide together.
The guards in the hotel are closely monitored, so please be careful.

One of the best Penang Island hotels overlooking the beach, excellent service and classic furniture. I would recommend that you book a room overlooking the beach in 7 or 8

Price wise it s one of the most premium/ luxurious hotel in Penang. Facade wise, it s old on the outside but very well maintained on the inside; though it lacks modernism, since a lot of the fittings and interior are old.

Great hotel! The staff, the service, food, facilities, rooms everything is over the top. Enjoyed every day of my stay.

Love the environment especially the dining area of ferringhi grill

This hotel was aged but still well keeping, recommend for family trip as the kid programs are wonderful.
