This was one of the most incredible hotels we stayed at in Abu Dhabe. The attention to details was outstanding, everything from the quality of the sheets, sufficient electrical outlets, delicious restaurants, view of mosques, powerful shower, well coordinated furnishings. We didn t want to leave.
We really appreciate the staff upgrading our rooms.

Disappointed to learn that there was so much traffic right next to the hotel - not a very tranquil place.... We booked Horizon Club, but were not informed that kids were only allowed in a separate room, which was not very interesting. Especially since we had looked forward to sitting outside on the balcony and enjoy the nice weather. Very friendly staff
This was a next level experience that felt modern, but old fashion in its hospitality. They are very accommodating, have incredible restaurants - the breakfast buffet is totally worth the extra monies. It is not near the corniche, but it is closer to the airport and right across from the largest mosque in Abu Dhabi (visible from the pool). The cleaning service was very good. And I would highly recommend the Chi spa as well. I would definitely stay here again.
We've stayed here many times over the last few years. This time I was a bit disappointed with a few items. Check in was really disappointing and the lady who checked us in bordered on rude. We weren't offered to check in on the 7th floor either. I asked as we were there for so long if there was any chance of an upgrade on our exec suite we had booked. She told me the hotel was full. This was clearly a lie as the hotel was virtually empty. Why didn't she just say no? I also requested a newspaper to be delivered to the room, it didn't arrive once. The hotel and the rooms are looking tired now and haven't been updated since we started staying 10 years ago. Housekeeping was hit and miss too and the bath wasn't cleaned properly after we'd used it. I felt you didn't make a particular effort for Christmas and in comparison to other hotels and the effort they made you were noticeably lacking. On the positive side most of the staff are lovely, breakfast and our meal at Shang Palace was lovely. We love Abu Dhabi and are regular visitors but I don't think we would choose to stay with you again as there are better hotels for the money. I didn't bother complaining about all of these things as I don't want to spend my holiday complaining, we just wont stay again.
This is a totally different proposition to any other Shangri-La and is more a resort within a self-contained suburb. The hotel, service and staff are again amazing and super friendly. Starting with the airport pick-up, to check-in, to walking into our spacious and well appointed room. Fairly close proximity to malls, attractions and entertainment, if you wanted to go further there is a daily shuttle and a taxi service available if you wanted to leave the resort. It's definitely worth every cent and can't wait to go back and stay there again!
This is a truly lovely hotel, with warm, friendly staff and excellent service. Nothing is too much trouble and the food/drinks were excellent. Ruby and Raj in the bar and the front of house team made this a truly fabulous week for us.
Despite confirming with hotel prior to stay to have interconnecting rooms this was not honoured upon arrival.
Housekeeping missed some key details. Old coffee cups left uncleaned. Wet towels removed from room but not replaced. Toiletries replaced but with the wrong item, so left with multiple bath gels and no shampoo. Housekeeping also remarkably late. Rooms were still not serviced by 4 in afternoon which was not convenient for returning from pools to prepare for dinner.
Service at buffet restaurant lacked any welcome. Despite high price this didn t feel like high quality experience. We were not told how the buffet worked, were not offered drinks, were not given any indication of the menu/price until receiving the bill. Many of the food items lacked labels. Staff whilst friendly were not forthcoming and welcoming.
All in all felt that whilst the rooms were nicely laid out and there were a number of members of staff who were friendly and trying to please, as a collective the hotel management has taken their eye off the ball a little. Whilst nothing was bad about the stay collectively they all add up to a much less than luxury experience. There are other better options locally where I m certain I wouldn t have the same issues.
It was my second time staying at Shangri-La and they did not fail to disappoint. Never waited around for anything and made us feel like family. caterred to our needs. Karolina (Reception) and Youceff (Porter) were extremely helpful, a big thanks to them.
amazing hotel, the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in Abu Dhadi. Staff friendly and very attentive specially Youness thank you very much for your help. I come back each time I can.
Warning! Very low value for money spent (price over quality). Didn't feel welcomed here. 1. Bad odour coming from air conditioning. 2. Bad smelling bedroom. 3. Bathroom consumables for one person only at the shower. 4. Very small and very old tv. 5. Poor check-in software program. Poor communication between hotel and travel agency. 6. Parking not available underground. For a strange reason was kept empty with no access for hotel guests. 7. Parking available only in courtyard parking lot, direct sun, with no sunshade (43 degrees Celsius). 8. Random thermal screening on the beach. 9. Small hair in the breakfast plate found.
Warning: double check, check-in conditions at the counter before, you might have a huge surprise at hotel checkout. Staycation not recommended.
Great service. Very comfortable stay. Location is good. Could have provided complementary tea and coffee in the room. The barista coffee could be improved. Room service for breakfast was awful as it was served in plastic containers.
Usually stay Dubai but gave this a go as friends just moved here and first time in Abu Dhabi. Typical UAE- beautiful hotel, excellent restaurants and amazing service. The ocean edge infinity pool looks over the creek to the Grand Mosque but never went round. Would stay here again.
The most: The room The view of the Mosque if we disregard the work just in front Vietnamese restaurant The friendliness of the staff The abra walk
Cons: Too few deckchairs by the pool The bridge with its noise pollution A wedding from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., loud music, unacceptable !! Impossibility to rest on the beach, at the swimming pool or in the room even with the windows closed !! The airport with planes all day Bord Eau restaurant closed on Saturdays It's not the sea but an arm of the sea
This is one of our favorite hotels, and this time we also got enjoy the amazing upgrade to a suite! Absolutely fantastic!!!! Breakfast was delicious as always in the morning and the yogurt on the buffet is the best yogurt I have ever had. First class experience!
My wife and me feel like at home during our stay in the SangriaLa. The whole Stuff do everything that we feel like so. We have not so many words to explane how excited we are. Everything was really more than okay. Everytime again this Hotel.
We were treated to a very professional welcome and caring staff during our stay. The hotel is grand, the restaurants of high quality and the rooms clean and comfortable.
Everything was simply amazing. We have been warmly welcomed by Karlina (we think it was her name) at the reception, the hotel is beautiful, the room with the view on the pool, the mosque is a little piece of heaven and the breakfast was so satisfying.
Pros: Great hospitality with the front desk staffs, especially thanks to the Chinese girl Anna and her colleague (name forgot). The room are spacious. Views are spectacular especially the view of the Grand Mosque. Cons: No shuttle service during Ramadan. Variety choice for breakfast but the taste is average, not excellent.
we greatly appreciated the friendliness and service of the staff. To start with the team of the Horizon Club, Deirdre, Zen, Pooch and Ayu, Sophia and Jane. In the Sofra restaurant where we went sometimes for breakfast Cindy and Shyamlal have been of great assistance, Grace at the Chinese restaurant, Ruwani at the Pool. Even in the evening he carried the heater up to our table on the level of the Sofra rest. By your attentive and friendly staff you make the difference amongst the 5 star hotels and for us that is a reason to come back. We would however like to suggest that you also offer a room for disabled with TWIN BEDS and not just one kingsize. Our room 230 was located close to the elevator, which was helpful, but a proper disabled room would have been better. we also missed a chair/sofa to sit on inside the room, now only the balcony was available, where at times it was quite windy. What was superb was that the housekeepingstaff cleaned our room whilst we were enjoying our breakfast, so that upon returning to the room, my husband (=disabled) could rest again. Thumbs up for all the staff who made this possible - and also came within 5 minutes after calling for whatever we needed!! I also visited the Chi Spa and would like to have done so more often, but I disliked the fact that female guests could take foto's inside the relax area and were even assisted in doing so by the receptionist. It would be great to have an area without mobile phones and photo's and loud presence of guests .. In the lobby area there are a few steps without a railing, which makes it nearly impossible to sit there as a disabled. It is a good service to offer a shuttle to the city, but an extra departure at 12 midday would also be nice. It is a pity there are building activities in front of the hotel, spoiling the view and creating noise of bleeping lorries (and the noise of the traffic over the bridge...), but that is - alas - beyond your control. the concierge assisted us on various occasions, also by lending us a wheelchair, which was a great help to us. To sum it up : we have enjoyed a relaxing, pleasant holiday in your resort and felt welcome and recognized (and were addressed by name!) by your staff.
I have had the pleasure of staying at Shangri-La properties in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Oman and now Abu Dhabi. Each property is fabulous in its own way but then of course there are many fabulous hotels. What makes Shangri-La stand out from the crowd is the quality of your staff and their willingness to go the extra mile and to think of the little things that ultimately make all the difference. The team in Abu Dhabi are quite simply outstanding. I must make special mention of Chef Sanjaya and Gazel and the Horizon Club team for all they did to cater for my wife s vegan diet and to make a short stay with you so special. The team on reception were extremely friendly and helpful and Malik the young gentleman who did a great job looking after our room has taken towel art to a whole new level. We look forward to staying with you again.
From incredible service to the finest of details throughout our stay, an amazing experience. The most lush beds, beautiful rooms and everything inbetween.
Would highly recommend a Horizon room.
Great food!
We will highly recommend you to anyone and look forward to another visit in the future. Thank you for a beautiful stay!
The service quit poor, no sufficient staff for servicing. Food also not up to the standard. For suit service not meeting the standard like other hotel giving from AUH
Everything is excellent, rooms and breakfast, valet parking. But the reception needs a third employee to speed up the entry and exit procedures, thanks
