Spent three days at Shadyside Inn and was extremely happy with my experience. My room was great. The place was very clean and I liked the whole vibe of the room. Bed was nice and there was an abundance of pillows, which I liked. The staff was really considerate and went above and beyond. It was nice to have so many restaurants down the street. Would have no problem recommending the hotel to others. Look forward to returning next time i'm in Pittsburg.

Great service, nice spacious suites with kitchens. The floor of my kitchen though was sticky upon arrival and never was fixed. The bathrooms are a bit old and small but the beds are comfortable. Quiet yet in close walking distance to CMU, restaurants and night life. Hope to stay there again!

Stayed for one night with husband. The parking was a bit difficult to find due to the late hour of our arrival. The room was nice and the kitchen utensils were stocked with a lot of thought. The only thing I found was that the TV wasn't able to be lowered below a certain volume and that volume was quite loud. Otherwise, our short stay was delightful!

I'll give it a 5 out of 5 because the desk staff was so friendly. The rooms were big, convienant location. The de or is kind of basic but it is VERY clean. Maybe a little more expensive than it should be but then again...

Good location in the city, awesome amenities, fully stocked kitchenette (no food though hah), and a comfortable bed. The Inn has free coffee/tea, free computers to use, a gym, and free washing machines to use.

Very nice suites at this contemporary semi-upscale extended stay hotel--more like apartments. Excellent pricing for such nice rooms, especially if you stay a month or more(considered "rental" so no tax).
polite staff keeps the place nice & neat & 24-hour front desk attendants are always ready to accomodate your needs.
services include daily housekeeping & a convenient, complimentary shuttle service for nearby areas.
Each suite is fully & tastefully furnished with big flat-screen tv's,full cable,WiFi,quality air- conditioning, full kitchen+utencils, large master bedroom with cable tv & additional climate control & plenty of closet space all around.
Several suites have a large balcony with beautiful stone walls. Free parking available for guests, lot fills quickly but an overflow lot is provided nearby.
Facilty has small gym available for guests,as well as a conference room, business center/computers,complimentary coffee bar with fridge, outdoor parklet with grills for cookout & washer/dryer in basement of every building.
Beautiful grounds with plenty of lush greenery, large trees, bushes & flowers.
Only negative so far,if I had to choose a con, would be the
Bathrooms. Relatively small compared to rest of suite, small low toilet, gooseneck faucet sticks out too far & the shower is not great, but adequate.
Shadyside Inn is situated in the heart of upscale Shadyside neighborhood, just a few minutes walk to trendy Walnut street for dining, shoping & nightlife,& very close to many other pittsburgh hotspots.
Pets are allowed in most suites & there's even a small but convenient "dog park" on premises.
I highly reccomend Shadyside Inn to anyone who needs a place to stay in Pittsburgh!

Loved the employees especially at the front desk. They were awesome from the very first interaction on. We got a suite and it was gigantic. It was actually a block down the road which was strange but to our delight it turned out we got a 4 bedroom sectioned off row home. It was only two or three blocks from 30+ stores.
Would certainly try and stay here again when I go back to Pittsburgh.

I decided to reserve a room at this place after seeing some good reviews here but my stay was a disappointment. The staff works hard and checks on you every so often by phone or in person to ensure things are okay but aside from the large room and hospitality, the room was cold and the internet was not accessible at all (in fact, my phone had no data reception in the hallway and very sporadic connections in the room and I use Verizon). I stayed here in January and if you are aware, winter in Pittsburgh is brutal. The room was so cold even after I had set the heater to the highest and when I woke up halfway through the night due to the cold air I found out that the radiator had been completely turned off. It got warmer after I turned on the radiator but I had to leave in an hour so it wasn't so useful. The internet connection was equivalent to having no internet at all and I couldn't get anything done for my business meeting, which was the reason for the whole trip. Also, the flooring seems to have been installed improperly that it makes loud annoying sounds every time
take a step. I was the one who recommended this place for all my team traveling with me, so I felt bad. I don't think I'll be coming back again.

This was my first time staying at this hotel, and I am glad I did. My parents, wife and I stayed in a two bedroom suite. As someone who travels a lot for work and who has stayed in hotels all over the world, this was one of the best bang for your buck hotels I have seen. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and perfect for a family to stay and hang out it. I think you would be hard pressed to find another hotel in Pittsburgh with rooms as large and nice for even close to the same price. I would absolutely stay again. If I had one complaint it would be the brightness of the outlets in the rooms. However, they can be covered.

Suites are huge, the kitchen well stocked with items you need to cook, and the bed was comfy. The heating can be tricky though, even with the guides to help you. It took us some time to get it just right. I like the retro bathroom.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay! Friendly and helpful staff! Amenites are wonderful! Maybe the only little thing to "complain" about are the singing showers! Hahaha! I think the water pipes are just a little old and so you get a high pitched song while you shower, but other than that, this place is perfect! Highly recommended and we will be back!

Booked A2 room suite. Had 4 people. Called in explicitly to confirm how many sleeping areas there were. Turns out, there were only three even though I was told 4. One of my guys ended up sleeping on the floor. Hotel refuse to do anything about it. Wouldn't bring in a rollaway, wouldn't put me in a different room. They're only thing was to tell me to rent an additional room. Completely unsatisfactory. Decent property, horrible attitude.

Hard bed. Small sink in bathroom. Tiny gym, but useful. Clean. Curtains don't block all light.

Edit: The owner responded about new mattresses. It certainly did not feel like a pillow-top mattress this past weekend. Also, the curtains do not need to be thicker; instead, light gets in around the edges. The sink is not only small, but is largely blocked by the large faucet that rises high.

Great amount of space for a good price. The business Center has coffee, computers, and a printer for any business needs you may have. The people at the front desk are also very friendly and extremely helpful. They usually have fresh homemade cookies at the front desk for guests.

Great!

This place absolutely ruined my stay in Pittsburgh...

This place absolutely ruined my stay in Pittsburgh and I would not recommend to anyone. First of all, from the second we walked into the building all you could smell was the strong stench of weed. It was all through the hallways and clearly coming directly from the room across from us. The front desk was right below us and could clearly smell everything we were smelling. We tried to be nice neighbors and not complain but it was horrendously potent. My girlfriends and I continued on with our sleepover and we were giggling and playing card games when all of a sudden Hannah from the front desk comes upstairs and pounds on our door. She says "you're being too loud and you need to leave immediately". Mind you, it was 9:45pm on a Saturday night. And we were literally just being giggly girls. Appalled and extremely angry and disturbed we questioned her and she barks out "this is your final warning, or else". We had no idea what "or else" meant so we immediately packed up all our things and headed to the lobby to check out. I was rightfully pissed after paying 250 dollars to stay here and for the fact that a bunch of young women were being thrown out into Pittsburgh with nowhere to stay on a NOISE COMPLAINT on a Saturday night. So I told Hannah at the front desk, "why are you kicking us out when there's clearly people smoking weed in the room next to us". She didn't want to hear it and gave us our receipt and let us wander in Pittsburgh with nowhere to stay. Worst of all, she would not refund us our money even though we never actually got to stay in the room

This is one of my favorite hotels ever (and I've stayed at places like the Four Seasons before)!

Essentially, the place consists of a number of apartment buildings that have been converted into the hotel. So, what you get is a complete one or two bedroom apartment. Most notably, this includes a full kitchen.

The staff is extremely helpful, and they offer a free shuttle service to nearby locations. On my first stay there, they drove me to a nearby grocery store and then picked me up when I'd finished shopping. This let me stock the kitchen and make my own food for the remainder of my stay.

And this is why I love the place: I travel enough that going out to eat every single day for every single meeting is tiring. Just being able to make my own simple dinner is nice and relaxing.

To address some of the other reviews, no place is perfect. Pittsburgh is very hilly and there are therefore steps everywhere. But when I've had lots of luggage, the staff volunteered to help me move it. And, no, the walls are not glass-and-steel like a modern fancy hotel, but rather plaster like you'd find in an average apartment. For me, this is a positive: I want to relax in my hotel room, and glass-and-steel might be shiny but it hardly feels like home.

And, therefore, I come back here again and again.

Amazing hotel! The service was fantastic here. Staff was kind, the maids came and did a good job cleaning, and everything was quiet. Good amount of parking spaces in the back. When you check in, you recieve a bag of snacks and helpful items to guide you around Pittsburgh.

Excellent! This is our second stay in just under a year. We have twin toddlers, and they've cheerfully accommodated all our needs/requests - actually moved some furniture for us before we arrived, to make room for the pack'n'play beds. Having an apartment layout, with separate rooms, is awesome - we can have them nap or go to bed early and not have to tiptoe around.
Be aware - these are typical older apartments of this area. (I went to college here; I'm familiar with the area.) The kitchens and bathrooms are small. There is parking, but it does fill up. But these are hardly big enough issues to downgrade for. And the service and helpfulness more than make up for them. This may not be the perfect hotel for everyone, but they are absolutely worth checking out.

Would give negative stars if possible. Suites nice but female manager was an officious witch. PS my stay was when it was a hotel. If it s still the same owners and female manager my review still applies. Avoid dealing with her. I m sorry I didn t sue.

Better than ANY chain hotel. Great location. Extremely fair pricing. I don't know which was more impressive. The amazingly warm, friendly and sincere staff. Or the beautiful and spacious rooms. I am personally in the hotel business. Most hotel rooms are around 325 sf. This was over 650. I traveled with my two (teenage) kids and we all had enough space to enjoy the rooms without being crowded. I checked the nooks and crannies and everything was immaculate. I will never again stay anywhere else when in Pittsburgh.

A full apartment for the price of a hotel room. Here for a week with my wife and two kids, and we are very comfortable. Clean and modern-ish. Love not listening to neighbors at bedtime. Convenient to everything, tons of shopping and dining nearby. Parking is not ideal, but its Shadyside. will certainly return

My wife and I stayed here on a whim and booked through Expedia. We were very impressed by the accommodations for the price. The only issue we had were that the gcfi plugs were very bright, but that was easily solved with some folded up, dry wash rags. I highly recommend this hotel for a romantic and comfortable night's stay in Pittsburgh.

"Suites" is correct: my booking was a small one-bedroom apartment with living room, kitchen and bathroom. Note that the hotel consists of several buildings, so lodging could be across a street from parking or check-in lobby. A street with several dining and snack options is a short walk away. All told, very nice.
