If you like bird company, you should not miss it on your travels. Upon arrival in the city, you see a small bird island glowing white in the region. Then we visited the Scottish Seabird Center and went on a boat trip to the island. We liked the trip, you just have to reckon with the interest and that's why we have to wait a while. It is best to book a trip or spend the next day.

I cannot comment on the educational part of the seabird centre itself, as we have only ever been in for food and drinks in the cafe but it's a perfectly nice place with a nice outside area on the water if weather permits. The food is fine but it's pretty expensive for what it is, canteen food at restaurant prices, so if you're looking for a spot of lunch I would recommend going into town. If you're just stopping for a quick coffee though, and it's a nice day, it's a good place to sit and enjoy the views of the sea.
On Seabird safari bass ( fast RIB cruise today) Saw a few late departing puffins, seals, gannets, cormorants, kittiwakes, shags & gulls with an enthusiastic, knowledgeable , fun guide. Good fun with fellow passengers as well.
Seabird centre Cafe - good coffee & sitting on terrace in the sun North Berwick at its best Lunch at Fenton Barns to round off the outing.
Full of interesting information on seabird colonies on the nearby islands with live streaming cameras. Other information on seashore wildlife. Interactive educational material for children. Highly recommended.
seabirds lovers have a lot of possibilities in Scotland. One of the most interesting options is to visit the Scottish Seabird center in North Berwick. Edinburgh is a 30-minute train ride away. A boat trip to the Isle of May in the North Sea is also worth a visit. The island lies about 15 miles northeast of North Berwick. Along the way you sail around the isolated island of Bass Rock, where in June nest up to 40,000 terey . On the rock there is no entry, the rock is dotted (and literally) nesting tereyi. Upon arrival at the Isle of May you guide instructed to conduct on the island, including where is the best show on here nesting seabirds. You can see puffins, spoonbills, terns, alkyls, tereye, cormorants and seagulls. At the time of nesting, there are more than 100,000 of these wonderful birds. it is literally a paradise for photographers. You can approach a few meters to birds that many visitors to the island know only from photos. Beware of terns who protect their nests, located a few cm from the public road. Terners attack aggressively and may cause bloody head injuries (own experience). Otherwise, I spent three pleasant hours on the island.
Worth a visit in this beautiful little town North Berwick. Lots of great information about seabirds. Book your tickets for a boat trip to go see the puffins and view the gannets nesting at Bass Rock. Great day out. Bring a pic nic and spend some time on the beach next to the centre.
Lots of good information. Downstairs had the extra bit which was a bit pricey but worth it for the cameras they have positioned. There was a nice old lady who went through a survey with us and told us both a bit about the beach and wildlife. Got some food there also, again it was a tad pricey but considering what these guys do it seemed reasonable. Highly recommended.
Excellent tour. Had tour to ourselves so plenty of time to try out exhibits. Live camera feed of bass rock gannets my highlight. Attendants very knowledgeable and helpful.
We Had lunch there today, ordered mac and cheese, it was hot, garlic bread was lovely, BUT....The macaroni cheese was tasteless...don't think cheese was added during the making of the sauce. Very disappointing. We will not be back or recommend this cafe .
It's a 1 time visit kinda place but we went as a group and had a tour with an experienced staff member who answered all our questions, showed us videos not on display and even moved forward the viewing of the dolphin and whale video -which was so relaxing as well as informative! Cafe is bit on expensive side but the gift shop is good! It also had live video feed that you can manipulate to get a good look at the famous Bass Rock.
Not quite up to modern standards. It focuses on children so it doesn't come across as a serious place for adults to learn. Very superficial. Expensive too.
One of the best seabird trips we've been on. Dolphins followed us out and jumped out a lot, they surfed our bow wave and swam right under and around our boat. The tour guide was excellent and really knew her facts. The views of gannets, puffins, and many other seabirds were fantastic.
Lovely location, very popular but doesn't have good milk alternatives! Would definitely return if they did. Oat & coconut would be my recommendation. Thanks
The actual sea bird centre is tinsy the shop and cafe take up the hole area the cafe is always solid busy and very noisy but good few hourse out after you have to have a walk along the beach front
Beautiful day at North Berwick 18 degrees in October! Lunch at the Seabird Centre and photographs of the wonderful seaviews and the attractive harbour.
