I was searching for a sectional sofa for my living...
I was searching for a sectional sofa for my living room. The two primary criteria was a deep enough seat and a fill that wouldn t flatten out quickly. I wanted this to last a long time. Nothing is worse than being swallowed by a sloppy marshmallow cushion. My sales associate directed me to the century line of sectionals. I was told there are no fill options but the standard fill would be great. She explained spring cushions and assured me it would last a long time.
The first issue arose when the sofa was delivered. I had taped off the dimensions and this sofa was not the size I had ordered. It was short a few inches in every direction. Through my search to find and double check my dimensions, I scoured the century furniture website and examined every pdf they had pertaining to this series of sectional. Here I discovered they offer not only many fill material options but also firmness options. I contacted the store and asked if I could deal with a manager on the size issue. I wanted to make sure I got what I ordered. The depth did not seem any deeper than the floor model that I was told was not the deepest depth. They send someone out to measure the piece. The technician arrived, without a tape measure. I loaned him mine. Took a few measurements. The manager pushed the issue back to the inept salesperson who was unacceptably defensive and accusatory about the situation. I was very rudely informed I got exactly what I ordered and the measurements are expected to be slightly off for a custom piece. I asked to speak to a manager again. I was transferred to an assistant manager who treated me like a complete idiot and inconvenience. She repeated what the salesperson had said and condescendingly asked, What do you expect us to do? Apparently, the deep couch is not that much deeper than the standard. Furthermore, a few inches here and there difference is completely acceptable by this manufacturer.
So 11 months later the lack of depth is still quite annoying but the real issue is the fill. The standard fill is a fluffy down and soft spring cushion. Now that it is broken in the cushions flatten out completely when you sit down. Only two of the five cushions can be rotated so the more popular spots are more broken down and look sloppy. One of the pillow fabrics I chose doesn't hold down inside very well. These pillows puke feathers. If I am anywhere near those pillows I m picking feathers off myself and the couch. How a manufacturer doesn't know this about the fabric is astonishing.
If you are looking for anything specific, save yourself the trouble and shop elsewhere. If you like being treated like trash and ending up with something you hate, by all means, this is your place. The sales team doesn't know a thing about the products they are selling and the managers have no time for dealing with the issues their brilliant sales staff on the floor create.
