Personally I think the exhibits at the Exploratorium or Boston's Museum of Science are a bit better, but those places are also more expensive. Science World was not crowded at all when we went (in fact it seemed a bit empty) which meant no waiting in line for any of the exhibits.
We spent a very pleasant four hours here with my 14-year-old daughter on a hot August night, and we were grateful for the air conditioning. If you can, go on Thursday night when they are open late.

Seriously the coolest children's museum I can imagine. Educational & fun. Not much for adults on their own, but maybe borrow some kids & bring them here?
Such a fun place to visit with kids . My 10 year old had an amazing time with all the displays and neat experiments . And my 2 year old also had a blast at the the little kids playcentre , equipped with fun structures and tons of water play
10th visit and planning more. Fun date outting, even groups! On site restaurant and gift shop. Sky train above, Olympic village.. So convenient and fun for all ages. Guided tours, hands on
Volunteers could do a better job if they interact more with kids. Most of them are passive or uninterested. Some just sit there rolling their own playdough and do not initiate any interaction with kids at all. There must be better instruction to the volunteers.
Lots to do for young kids. We visited from Ontario, and the Ontario Science Center is better experienced by tweens and up. My 4 and 2 year olds had a blast at Science World, and we got in free with our OSC membership.
have to give this place 5 stars especially for my little cousin. i take him here every couple months and he gets to nerd out cause he's not too into sports. as far as taking kids places it's nice cause i dont get too bored here either. staff is super helpful and friendly.
Great spot for kids, way better then the one in Calgary but it is so busy. The number of people make it tough to enjoy all the amazing and educational activities available.
Visited science world for free for healthcare workers. It hasn't changed much since 7 years ago when I volunteered here. Great place for families to bring their children but not for adults for the price, at least not for a second time. Staff is wonderfully friendly.
I love this place and so do my kids! We've been going there since our oldest could walk. It's a great option for a rainy day (though be prepared for crowds). Awesome for kids of all ages.
I have 2 year old, and live in Vancouver. It s rains a lot in Vancouver. There are many free activities you can get up to, but eventually you ve done them all. Buying a pass here was the best $ spent. My 2 year old runs around for hours and hours and is learning while he does it. Tons of new exhibits coming through every few months and new attractions being added often. Science rules, dude.
Incredible destination for the family. Many, many rooms of magical fun and learning. Plus a restaurant, play zone (for 6mos to 6+years), and outdoor play area. I ve noticed they are constantly improving the facility from small to large updates.
Super interesting hands-on exhibits and a well-designed layout didn't make up for the outrageously high prices and large, large crowds. It would be perfect on a weekday with discounts.
I think it is a MUST-visit for people who live in the Vancouver-area and or in the Lower Mainland. BUT if you are visiting Vancouver for a vacation or for a couple of weeks, I would not put this place high on your list to visit. During the school year, the place is packed with kids on field trips. (expected) But with that fact comes long lines, dirty restrooms and sometimes dirty exhibits. Definitely recommend the OMNI-max though.
Same interactive items for 20 years over priced parking and you would think being a future technology display they would have electric car plug in stations
This place is fabulous, but really it's meant for kids. I managed to stumble on it during a community day that was free for everyone. That said, I'd have been more than happy to contribute to the facility in the future as I had a marvelous time.
The place in itself had a lot of interesting things and facts and information to keep me as entertained as a small child. We ended up playing the games and doing the on hand experiments alongside little ones.
If you have a day to kill and want to learn a little more about the world from a simple scientific standpoint, this is a great place to do so.
I didn't get to check out the IMAX theater, but the movies they were showing were a wide variety from, "How Sticky are Geckos" to "Space Suits."
If I do manage to get back to Vancouver, I'd love to take advantage and see all of their films.
tl;dr Amazing place for kids, with hands on science activities that rotate weekly. For adults, there is some pretty cool stuff for you too, especially if you are a kid at heart.
Was there today at around 4:45 and the staff never let us in even though the sign at the door says they closed at 5pm. One lady even told us that they don t let people in at 4:45? I guess they have to change their hours of operation at their door signage into 4:45pm and even to their website instead of 5pm? I bet the staff are paid to be there until 5pm anyway? I don t understand the logic of their 5pm closing time but stop the visitors to enter by 4:45? I assume the staff are just lazy and wanna go home by 5pm?
Its ok I guess but the main problem about this is that there are barely any attraction and they are mostly games and activity for kids. If your like a teen or older than i recommend going to the Seattle science world
Lots for kids to do and even on a repeated basis. We are enjoying having a membership. Seems like a much better option for repeated visits with kids than the aquarium.
Although rather informative, the whole experience felt largely, if not entirely, geared towards children. Additionally, the 'Featured Exhibit' was not open during my visit, regardless of countless accounts of advertising with minor attention to the opening date of the 'Featured Exhibit'. Although there is some blame on my part here, it is a bit mind-blowing that they would not take extra effort to ensure guests (especially those over the target age of 6 years old) were aware that specific exhibits aren't actually available despite widespread advertising. $25 for a basic run down on anatomy, illusion and some complimentary disappointment led to a bit of time wasting. Oh, and $12 parking felt a little steep for open air parking.
It may be aimed at children but it is definitely something adults should go visit too. Very interesting and informative, pleanty if useful knowledge will be gained. Could spend the whole day here.
A Classic, must-see spot in Vancouver right by the Main Street skytrain station (thats the best way to get here due to lack of parking). It has a series of special rotating exhibits coupled together with a few more consistent displays. A great place for adults and children alike.
Overpriced parking. This place is good for groups and little kids. Many areas of the exhibits need maintenance. If you go too often, it starts to get boring. But there are always those new exhibits every month so you could still go every now and then.
Fun exhibits and now host to all kinds non-kid things which is when I tend to go! Was last there for a whiskey tasting, but they also have cocktail nights, food oriented events as well as late-night electronic music events.
I had a blast over there with friends. It was my first time and i enjoyed spending almost 3 hours in there on a Saturday. It s more for a family activity but still I had a blast. Will definitely suggest you to go there. They have good fare for family and also military discount.
Went for "Adults" night where they serve beer/wine. It was an overall good time. The exhibits are aimed towards children. Some of the areas were closed.
This place is very chaotic and not well organized. There are not nearly enough food options for the amount of people crowded in here, and the only ones they have are very unhealthy. So beware and bring your own food and don t forget earplugs!
This is a fun interactive place for anyone, no matter your age. There are lots of new exhibits which bring in new people. The only negative is the admission and extra costs can get expensive in a large group.
It was a very cool experience and would recommend to anyone of all ages as it supports knowledge learning and interesting exhibits for any age to learn or experience.
