Cycle City USA Review

Called to ask about installing my SRAM Eagle group set, dropped in to make an appointment, and now I'm a happy man with a new group set. Will definitely recommend this local business to anyone new to cycling and to experienced riders, as well. They have everything you need to start riding too from U locks, breaks, tires, shoes, gloves, lights, and much more. They're always willing to answer any questions you might have, so don't be scared to ask for help

Friendly staff. Purchased my daughters first Trek bike here.

I bought a Trek Checkpoint SL6 gravel bike. I test rode a Checkpoint SL5 first and really liked it. But wanted to upgrade to Ultegra components and a different color. David ordered the SL6 for me had it ready in less than a week. Josh did a great job building the bike and David went through everything I needed to know and made some minor fit adjustments matching the measurements from
my other bikes. They gave me a good price on the bike and discounted some accessories. I highly recommend Cycle City. The last bike I bought there was a Trek SL2200 in 1998. I m a happy customer, can t wait for some decent weather.

Quality service is hard to find. Quick and efficient service from a friendly staff. Great accessories for bikes of all types. I am very happy to have found Cycle City right in my own back yard. So, I have had horror story bike builds, which I carry with me forever, from a place in S.F. with the reverse name ;) but I was cautiously optimistic because the painter Cycle City folks recommended (D&D Cycles) and the work they did on some wheels gave me the much needed confidence for the full bike build. I heard Josh, the master mechanic, was meticulous. That is an understatement. He s a machine; in a good way. No bolt goes unchecked. He and the whole Cycle City crew are real pros, steeped in years of expertise and real thoughtfulness in their customer service approach. Thanks for your professionalism. See you for the next one! TLDR: masterful bartape = masterful mechanics.

It's like going to the "Cheers" of bicycle shops. They always know your name. They treat you with respect, provide quality service, and honesty. It is obvious that they love what they do and have a vast breadth of knowledge. After moving away from Alameda almost 20 years ago, I have returned to this shop because I could not find the level of excellence close to where I presently live. Can't say enough. I have been buying bikes, helmets and accessories from Cycle City for 15 years. I recently stopped by to have my wife fitted for a new helmet and the team was professional as usual. They didn't have the color she wanted and special ordered it, followed by text updates on its arrival. Thank you!

I have shopped here for decades. The staff is great! They are always helpful and competent. I trust them to correctly diagnose any problem with my bike and to fix the problem right the first time. The staff is very good about meeting the time for promised repairs. They patiently research the best choice for any parts or accessories that I need to order. I always feel that my safety and riding comfort are their top concerns.

Had exactly what I was looking for and more - The service is the best!

A few weeks back was my first time walking into Cycle City after a friend of mine had recommended this shop. I was shopping for a new road bike for commuting purposes and wanted to learn more about the different options. Well, I cannot overstate how incredibly pleased I was with my first visit to Cycle City.

David is an employee of Cycle City that has a genuine passion for biking of all sorts. He spent over an hour explaining different bike styles and answering questions (and I had plenty). Not once did he seem annoyed or that he had something better to be doing.

The other two employees I've interacted with since making my first TREK Checkpoint SL5 purchase have been nothing short of solid. Heck, there's even a 17 year old kid in there that upholds the stellar reputation of this shop.

It is very apparent that this bike shop is the gold standard in the East Bay. I would HIGHLY recommend this shop to anybody. It's simply that good.

This place is awesome. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I came in to upgrade my pedals and my seat, and they told me what to buy, which made the experience stress free. The parts were very affordable, and are working great.

This is a great local bike shop. The inventory is not huge but the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They have a small selection of great bikes and accessories. If they had larger inventory it would be 5 stars!

The staff. David, Josh and Harry are the best. This is the best bike store in Alameda. They go out of their way and the extra mile to make sure your happy.

Friendly, personalized service. Excellent knowledge base. Equally attentive to beginning, moderate (like me) and super-skilled cyclists. Quick turnaround on repairs. Don't push stuff on you you don't need, easy place to drop by and ask questions or just get something fixed. They enjoy cycling and want to share it. I had some health issues that had stopped me riding for a while, but they helped me get back out there with a better bike and seat adjustments. Great selection of new bikes but I have been able to hold onto my Trek hybrid for a while thanks to them.

I had a flat tire. I took it in for repair and it was finished in 15 minutes. He even helped lubricating the chain and gears. The price of the repair was very reasonable. I would go back again.

Great troubleshooters - had a tire sizing problem that the pros at Cycle City were able to sort out in about 15 mins. Friendly, fast, and very professional shop.

Went in and basically said "I'm looking for a bike" and Harry, an employee, told me everything from the ground up. No pretension. I highly recommend this bike shop. My Fiancee and I bought bikes there the day of. I am not stupid enough to just buy a bike without research prices so I know this place was worth the time and money.

It isn't the biggest store on the block but they sure are friendly and knowledgeable. Check it out.

The folks here were hella helpful, honest, and friendly. They were very good on keeping me updated with all that was needed to be done with my bike...it has been a long minute since I've biked. I recently broke my ankle, and the folks at Cycle City were great with holding onto my bike a few extra days until I could have a friend pick up my bike for me. My seven year old grandson had crashed on his bike and broken his front reflector. His bike also had an eerie looseness at the stem. We took his bike in to Cycle City and they had us back on the road within the hour. The gentleman who waited on us was very friendly and knowledgeable.

These guys are great. Dave is a sharp honest guy and we've been buying gear here for manu years with no regrets. Highly recommended for well trained staff.

Dropped my bike off for a tune up. Upon leaving my bike I was told to come back the Friday after any time after 1:30. A week passed and I went in to get my bike and work hadn't been started on it. I took time off work to drive over to pick up my bike at the scheduled time. Inconvenient waste of time and fairly in professional for how much I payed to have the time up done. Will seek another shop next time.

What do I like about Cycle City? Everything. They have great products. There s something for everyone, from a racer to a cruiser, and a range of prices. I m just a weekend warrior, but I never felt like I was beneath their notice. From day one, I got the best customer service. The technician listened well, picked out the right bike for me, made some modifications, and I still use this bike years later. I can get a courtesy tune-up annually, and a comprehensive tune-up when needed for a reasonable fee. Over the years I ve returned to the store for this and that. Staff consistently helpful, knowledgeable, give me undivided attention, and spot-on advice. As we all know, there s a ton of great bike shops in the Bay area, but Cycle City is a cut above.

They really know their stuff, they've never "upsold"me, and they always have time for me.
They are doing above and beyond during the pamdemic.
