Sandals Montego Bay Review

We spent a week at Sandals Montego Bay understanding that COVID19 protocols would be in force. The vacation was wonderful. The most appreciated things include Latitudes over the water bar with the A-team bartenders of Rajiv and Sashana. They make the drinks right the first time every time. Drinks are spotty everywhere else. Soy stands out for the quality sushi and the manager Roberto and server Danika as well as Asheka. They were just so welcoming that we went to Soy 3 times. Our room in the Almonds building was ocean front and you can hear the water lap against the rocks. We did a couples massage and Verona and Odane are an excellent team. The only disappointing thing was that the entire staff wears masks for the guests safety and you can't see their bright smiles. And despite not being able to go off the property to visit Royal Caribbean due to COVID19, the crystal clear waters and clean beaches of Montego Bay took your mind right off of that. We would go back.

What a relaxing week at a great resort for my wife and I, celebrating our 25 Anniversary. We booked a Butler Suite. Our Suite was in building 17. Unfortunately there was construction going on directly next door and on Day 2 they started building a pier with heavy equipment and giant boulders being dropped and moved all day long. Our Butlers, Dwayne and Wilson, acted quickly when we asked to be relocated. They moved us to a beautiful suite in building 9 with great views and situated nicely between the Piano bar and the main beach. The rest of our stay was perfect! Dwayne and Wilson made sure that we enjoyed our stay to the fullest. they knew that we liked to take a break in the afternoon for a few hours before dinner and on several days, a bubble bath was drawn and waiting for us as we returned from the pool. Special recognition goes out to Ahkeem from the Swim up pool bar, Dr. D at the beach bar and Jasmin from the Red Lane Spa. You were the best! Everyone that we encountered was friendly and intent on making sure that they attended to any need we might have. The food was good. We really enjoyed lunches from the Mariner, the Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork were excellent. We frequented the Cricketer's Pint for the chicken wings and the Bangers and Mashed. The best kept secret was the Brasserie at the Bayside. They share a kitchen with the Oleander Room, but does not require reservations or Resort Evening attire. The French cuisine was delicious. The Cucina Romana is also recommended. If you take an excursion off site, be on the lookout for Dalton, the tour guide. He will teach you about Jamaica's Island History and dialect (Patwah) and keep you entertained all day. We enjoyed everything about our stay and look forward to coming back here as well as visiting other Sandals locations.

I didn't stay over, only went on the island routes cruise, it was fun. Staff were fun and made the experience a good one.

Amazing staff, beautiful resort, and great beach. The water temperature is amazing. I also enjoyed the food. Sandals really knows what they are doing.

Sandals Montego Bay is definitely all-inclusive. The personnel treat you like family. The resort is super clean with all measures to prevent COVID-19. The room accommodations are fit for royalty. As for the food, the restaurants features multiple cuisines with gourmet-style delicacies. If you like water-sports or just relaxing on the beach, or by the pool, Montego Bay is your choice. And, by the way, do not forget your favorite beverage. Belly-up to the bar, or be served by attendants, you will definite be kept quenched with the best beverage.

We were staying at Montego Bay and we were going to take the shuttle to go to Royal Caribbean for a dinner reservation at 6pm. We were 2 minutes late to the arrival time and the shuttle was already gone. My wife was very frustrated and seen a manager on site names Nana. We explained him what happened and he offered to take us there himself with no hesitation. He also called the restaurant to let them know ahead of time that we were on the way. He really went above and beyond to help us and exceeded our expectations. We are extremely grateful for him; it's the little things that truly make this resort and staff a 5 star experience.

As far as resorts go, this one is fantastic. The more updated rooms are beautiful. The beach is pristine. Food is pretty good. Drinks are great. Staff is all amazing and wonderful.
Big shout out to Rodlin down at the scuba centre. If you have a chance or desire to scuba, it s great. All dive sites are quite literally a 5 minute boat ride away. We even saw a dolphin one of the days.

Latitudes over the water is so gorgeous. Super great views.

Jerk chicken and Butch s are the best. Get the special Wonka dessert, it s life changing.

The only real negative we had, is in comparison to other Sandals, there is no large communal pool. There s a bunch of small pools, and pools in front of hotel rooms. Only one of the pools had a small swim up bar.

My first All inclusive. I liked it so much that I booked for next year

Nice resort! Some staff were awesome! Others seemed to be inconvenienced for asking for stuff. Overall, had a great time! Definitely recommend a room with butler service!

Awesome experience, Cassie the butler was incredible!! Nice mix of quiet or active beaches and only a 15 min ride from the airport. Entertainment was really good, very coordinated and you could tell they really worked at it. Food was overall good but the Sushi restaurant overdelivered.

Some of the places to eat at were a little chaotic. There was no flow and many people seemed unsure of where to go.

We had an awesome time at Sandals Montego Bay ,all of the staff were always happy to help you out. Our room was always made up every day with the nice origami design of some sort on the bed .
I went on 7 dives including the recertification and the dive masters and the Captain and mates were very acomidating and very professional also very safety conscious. All of the dives were great and had an amazing experience

Wonderful vacation! From the weather to the food to the room it was perfect. And everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return!

Beautiful resort. Recently renovated rooms. Great service, especially from our butlers, Aaron and Mykel. Food is way better than other all inclusive and alcohol is all top shelf. Great experience overall.

My mom is a Sandals Select memeber and has stayed with Sandals for 6 years prior to this trip. We are here together. This trip is a disappointment. My iPad was in my room and in the safe. I discovered it to be stolen this morning. The staff has been no help. How ridiculous! When I pay this much money I expect this kind of situation to never happen. I am so disheartened by this situation and by the way Sandals is handeling it.

We visited from Sandals Royal Caribbean. Montego Bay has a beautiful beach, but it's a lot busier than the Royal Caribbean, which may be a good or bad thing depending on your preference. We didn't care for it, and went back to the Royal Caribbean after a couple of hours.

Spent a week there on my honeymoon and had a wonderful time! The staff were friendly and the service was very good. Every meal I had was excellent. The beaches and pools were clean and we'll attended. I stayed at the Smaller of the three resorts, the Carlisle where the price was right and for a short trip in the provided shuttle my wife and I were able to enjoy the activities of the sister resorts. I was disappointed when going to play darts or billiards at my resort as the equipment was in very poor condition. A number of other small details were missed such as our honeymoon bed turn down but an important detail they missed was notifying us of the transfer of our starlit dinner from our resort to a sister resort due to construction. I'm glad I had noticed the construction that started in our resort and inquired if there were any changes or I'm afraid I may not have found out until too late.
These small details are the reason I only give 4 stars. Not a perfect experience but I would still recommend a vacation or honeymoon to this sandals resort.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and it was beautiful! The beach is amazing and all of the rooms are so close to the beach! The food, drinks, and service is always great at Sandals. We did an excursion that took us to the Black River, YS Falls, and the Appleton Rum Factory. So much fun! Definitely check out the Royal Caribbean Resort too. Beach isn't as good but the private island has some great snorkeling!

Don't recommend a butler but the stay was wonderful

We had our wedding here. This resort is beautiful and the customer service is outstanding. We will visit again.

This was not my first time at a Sandals Resorts nor my first time at a 5 Star establishment. Based of the resolve of my wife's and I experience this maybe my last time at a Sandals Resort. The rooms were half cleaned during a pandemic. The service staff were rude. The process was rushed and very unorganized. My wife and i had to leave in a rush, due to the front desk failing to let us know what time we would be departing the resort. At this point my wife left her wedding bouquet and top layer of our wedding cake. At times on several occasions we felt like second class citizens at your resort. I have issues when a service is provided at a cost and it falls beyond the advertised mission. At this point I am thoroughly upset at the services provided and at your ability to provide rectification of my grievance. My advice to anyone traveling to Sandals Montego Bay who may experience a issue, please address while you're there. Once you leave it's like you never paid for a service. Don't bother to leave a a generic response like the rest...

My husband and I had a fantastic time on the resort. We enjoyed the hospitality and wonderful service of the staff. The resort was kept clean. The spa service was amazing too.Our trip to Crodon plantation was also refreshing. We will go again.

Staff is great.... but you can feel the tension from the states it the resort.. if your a person of ethnicity come with your own group because the tourist still bring the animosity from the states to vacation

The all inclusive resort at Montego Bay was absolutely beautiful. Free bus service to other 2 resorts. Free shuttle pick up and return to airport. Beautiful ocean view. The entire staff and everyone who works here are absolutely outstanding employees. Rooms with balcony overlooking the pool was very relaxing. Everyone took care of anything you need immediately. Dinner for 2 on the beach with your own waiter was a highlight and the food was excellent as was the service. Has exercise rooms. 24 hour security. Super entertainment. I will definitely return to Jamaica and stay at Sandals.

My wife's and my favorite place on earth! We have been there 6 times, and have already scheduled a return trip.

Beautifully renovated property with the friendliest staff. The beach makes up for the small pools. While the ride to the resort is only 10 minutes from the airport, the downside is that the property sits at the end of the runway. VERY noisy & distracting while planes fly directly overhead all afternoon.

It's really nice to be so close to the airport, but the planes are loud taking off. Maybe 1 plane flies over the resort every 30 minutes? Didn't wake us up at night though. The staff is wonderful and the resort has a lot to offer. They make vacationing easy.

We were here on our honeymoon and right from the start the service was amazing! Absolutely beautiful resort, so much fun, lots to do there, great entertainment every day, the food the food the food simply the best. Although i must say all the staff was kind and friendly there are a few that particularly stand out as exceptional: our Butlers, Mill & Jerome they went beyond the call, the special things they did for us are so memorable it was such a pleasure being around them they are thee best, Damar was outstanding u will be awesome as a Butler as well, the Wait Staff, Nola & Kayonn & Jamellia, also goes beyond the call for us, beautiful spirited woman thank u ladies for everything, Marie the cook, love that smile Marie. So professional and caring, thanks for the great food, and also the Entertainment Team Wow wow wow u guys need a raise, lastly to Kerriann in the Loyalty office thank you my dear beautiful young lady was very patient and attentive we appreciate u all, Sandals we will definitely be back thank you for that phenomenal experience. Everyone from the housekeeping staff to the loyalty office staff is so kind and helpful. The food was fantastic at every place we ate. Always plenty of chairs, and towels for the beach or the pool. Love love love

Stayed during an off week where only 3 other couples were at this resort. The 2 others included in the package were fairly busy.
The food was "meh" everywhere we ate at. The drinks were very good.
Staff was nice, bartenders seem to really enjoy their job.

We just got back from our couples getaway to Montego Bay, Sandals and I have to say that they could not have been more accommodating! As soon as we arrived we were brought a delicious Caribbean Delight and shown to our rooms promptly. Our room was breathtaking, but really all of the rooms there are. They even left us a bottle of iced champagne because they heard we were there celebrating our 9 year anniversary!

We didn't do excursions because we were truly caught up with all of the excitement that the resort provided inclusively. From water skiing to wind sail boating to glass bottom boat rides and so much more..everything was unbelievable. We tried Cucina Romana for breakfast our first morning and ended up coming back every day because of the service, delicious food selection, mimosas and Thanesia! She was the absolute sweetest and always went above & beyond the make sure we were happy. I wish that I got more names while staying at Sandals Montego Bay because we were truly treated like friends and family our entire stay. I have never met more friendly, helpful, exciting and respectful people in my life. The resort gets an A+ just on whom they employ alone! They deserve big pay. Even when met with irrationally rude guests they always had polite responses to deescalate and an overall positive demeanor.

Upon getting settled into our room we tried to book reservations at Butch's Steakhouse. I wasn't entirely surprised when they told us that all reservations were all booked up (I've read so many reviews saying just that), but I was completely surprised that they pulled a few strings and offered us a reservation for the next night! Let me tell you, if you go to Sandal's Montego, you need to go to Butch's Steakhouse!! It's an absolute must. The filet mignon was to die for and the fried crab & bay scallop balls were amazing. Overall, not one restaurant at the resort disappointed (and we tried all but one) and they all offered something completely different than the last restaurant. We loved every single meal that we ate and that is basically a miracle because I am quite the picky eater at times. Special shout out to the chef at Dino's Pizzeria also! He was not only a joy to be around, but made sure that we got exactly what we wanted and was just a great cook and person! The seafood pizza will change your life btw.

The weather was beautiful our entire stay and it only rained once for about 5 minutes. The rest of the time - pure sunshine. We played a little volleyball, took advantage of the pool tables, the shaded hot tubs and we even snagged some shaded beach chairs while we swam in the beach. It is true that butlers do place towels for others, but finding other options (shaded and non-shaded) are totally possible. At night we enjoyed drinks at the bar, music and many other fun things they had going on.

Our trip not only exceeded our initial expectations, but left us wanting to come back for more ASAP. Sandals Montego Bay is a paradise and really allows you to break free from your typical day to day life. I would recommend this resort to anybody and everybody.

Definitely not the usual sandals experience! our 6th stay at sandals was a bit of a let down! Overall still a very enjoyable vacation but did not live up to the Sandals reputation! problems with AC, not stocking room bar and a few other minor things. swim up bar closed for renovations! of course, these things are necessary at times but i wish I would've know this ahead of time. Nothing that totally ruined our stay but this resort definitely goes to the bottom in the rankings for us!

Ian and Aaron were amazing butlers!! It was our first time in Jamaica or a sandals resort. It was a fantastic vacation!!

I enjoyed myself from the moment I arrived. This place is worth more than 5 stars. The staff was phenomenal in every way.

I m editing my original review of 1 star. I wrote it in anger, after our experience the first two days of our week long stay. Here are my final thoughts:
Concierge - (1/5) This needs some work. After the orientation I was only able to get a hold of a concierge once. (Calling or in-person) They were always busy welcoming the incoming guests, not so much the existing guests.
Room - (3/5) Our view was spectacular! The mattress, however, was terrible. After the first night, my wife s back hurt so bad it effected the entire trip. We turned it, added extra blankets, extra pillows.. nothing helped.
Food - (4/5) The food was good but by no means great. There were a few dishes we really enjoyed but to each his own. Butch s and Soy were our favorites. I would say the food was on par with Texas Roadhouse in the states.
Drinks - (4/5) The Top-Shelf Liquor claim is laughable. But the drinks keep coming so you just have to get over it.
Service - (3/5) There was just something about some (not all) of the staff that gave off a what do you want now vibe. Body Language is a big deterrent. The staff at Butch s, however, were all great and very friendly.
Entertainment - (5/5) The entertainment staff is spectacular! There are activities all day, everyday and they make up for concierge short comings. They are all welcoming, friendly, and love their job. Melissa is fantastic and should be on the short list to management!

This is a wonderful resort, and everyone was very helpful and friendly. We tried all of the restaurants and Robert at the Oleander was awesome. Ceresa on the beach always made sure that everyone had what they needed and they really try to make sure you enjoy vacation and not have to lift much of a finger. The room was clean, fridge was stocked, and everything worked and it was quiet. They carry your bags to your room and from your room. They call you when it's time to go to the airport and there's guards walking around everywhere and we never saw any issues or problems. It's next to the airport and from the beach you can only hear the planes for a split second right as they leave the runway but we thought it was cool to watch them take off and they ended around dusk. The water was warm and swimmable. There are tons of workers out all the time cleaning and keeping everything nice. Everyone looked to be having a good time and were doing photoshoots. If you looked lost for a second, someone would come up to you and help you out. Coming into the airport, I got nervous because there weren't many friendly personalities there but once at the hotel that changed and everyone was very welcoming. By the bar two guys were having a dance off and it was entertaining they also do beach volleyball and made it funny to watch. They have entertainment by another bar inside at night and a gift shop that takes USD. They always run shuttles to their sister properties. There was, some construction on a roof or something and a gezebo thing out in the ocean but it didn't bother us at all, we only heard it when walking by. The beach is a beach, don't expect a football field size of one and you won't be disappointed, we didn't come out super early and still were able to find chairs. The butlers do tend to grab the shade chairs for their guests though but we always managed to find sun and shade chairs. Overall, we had a great time and all of the amenities were great for us.

This was our first time visiting a sandals resort, and let me tell you. This place is beautiful, everyone is so welcoming and so nice! We were definitely not expecting such a great service and atmosphere. We are booking another trip, so THAT much my wife and I loved it. When we got to the airport the experience started there. Shaniel received us at the hotel and she was excellent, she received us with such great energy and welcoming feeling that made us feel great. The entertainment team was amazing! Melisia, Kimberly, Crystal, Sapphire, Javada Alllll of them were amazing! They made a great atmosphere making our vacation a great and fun moment to definitely remember! On the restaurants all of the staff was so great! Gerdeen on the Bayside restaurant was so friendly and welcoming knowing we were celebrating our 5 yrs. Hands down, our best vacation ever! We are visiting again for SURE!

What a great trip!! From the time we arrived in the lobby we were treated like we owned the place. What a pleasure it was having the courteous, professional and most importantly fun staff they have pamper us. Great Food, awesome drinks most go. ONE LOVE from the 301

The employees are extremely polite the view and the resort itself are phenomenal...would definitely recommended this resort to anyone. Plenty of things to do and entertainment etc...and yes the food is great.

This place was a marvelous setting for a wedding/honeymoon. The staff are magnificent; they are very attentive and courteous. The grounds were clean no issue with cleanliness at all, I actually walked around bare feet! I left off a star because of the WiFi issue, it did not work my entire stay which caused me to miss several important messages.

My wife and I stayed here for a week for our 22nd wedding anniversary. We had a good time, the food was hit or miss - some was great others were poor. There were lots of different restaurants, but the resort is broken up into 2 sides, 1 next to the ocean, 1 next to the hills. You can get back and forth on a bus (The Hop) witch runs constantly. Riding back and forth in order to get to the Ocean side got old pretty quickly. The worst part was, it seemed every time we got on the Hop, to go to the other side for dinner, all dressed up, the people getting off were coming back from the beach - leaving the seats all wet and sandy. We were in one of the nicer rooms - Romeo & Juliette, with a small private pool and hot tub and included Butler service. The rooms were, honestly, a little on the run- down side. There was very little water pressure, but that may have been a blessing in disguise since not a single sink drained properly. The room service was quite slow - on at least 2 occasions it took at least an hour to get our breakfast. The butlers were excellent, they tended to our every need and were extremely kind and helpful. I honestly don't think that I would stay here again, but it was not the worst place I have ever stayed.

I could go on and on about my experience at Sandals. I loved every single second of it. From the moment we arrived everyone was very helpful and pleasant. The food was amazing. The drinks were awesome. (LOVE THE BOB MARLEY'S). Our room was amazing. The soaking tub is the best. The service is simply the best. I will be back.

We're here on our honeymoon, and the resort is beautiful, rooms are clean. We went all out and reserved the M1 millionaire butler suit. The room is very spacious, but the butlers we have helping us are anything but what we expected. They aren't timely, attentive or professional by any means. We have asked them for specific things, and they just make excuses. There is construction going on all around us, to where we can't even hear the ocean. We have called management about the inconvenience, and they have done nothing to help.
Two stars are for the cleanliness, and other wonderful staff like Robert the waiter!

Plane noise all day. Right next to airport. With beach view we had basket ball courts and vendors selling stuff right outside of our room. Get ocean view not beach view. No privacy if you don t.
