The staff is extremely friendly and there were several who knew us by name and got to know us. Lanique kept giving my husband "points" which he was so proud of. Oshane made us drinks like we like them. And Lennus is probably one of the best guys we've ever met. The food was good and the entertainment was great. If you get a chance to take a tour given by Dalton, do it! He is awesome and will teach you all about Jamaica. Best vacation ever!

I am surprised by the high ratings if this Sandals resort based upon other Sandals resorts. The proximity to the airport is not a positive - you are right next to the runway where planes are taking off and landing every 20-30 mins. The property itself is really not as nice as other sandals resorts we have stayed at in the past. The rooms and food were average, and the pools were really small for the size of the resort. They were doing construction on one of their restaurants that was right across from our room which added to the noise from the airport. Some of the staff was very pleasant but others not so much... We ended up asking to change to another Sandals on the island and they were very accommodating and had an opening at the Ochi Rios location 1.5 hours away. The Ochi resort was everything that we were expecting, so worth the drive to get there.
Awesome place to stay with lots to do. The staff was AMAZING and courteous. I only wish the grill by the pool stayed open later. There food there is gooooood!
Everything was wonderful except they didn't have very much entertainment. Nigril Sandals spoiled us. They had plenty of exciting shows every night. Dont know if Labor day weekend was a factor not. Just dont go to the one called Carlisle. It was awful.
It's next to the airport and every aircraft can be heard from your room. Do not go there. The food option is limited and doesn't taste good. Not much amenities either. You were warned. That's the runway from the room in the attached pictures.
Me and my wife just got married here everything was beyond expectations from the food to the service and even the wedding itself. before we left we booked our anniversary trip. I never felt so at home in my life before I never wanted to leave I had the best time of my life I will carry these positive experiences for rest of my life.
My wife and I had a great time at Sandal's Montego Bay! Privet airport transfer in a new BMW. Staff was friendly especially our Butler (Dewayne) we got a phone to call him anytime. He reserved us a spot on the beach every morning with a cooler of "Wata" & Red Stripe. It is right next to the airport witch I was concerned about the noise but it wasn't that bad at all. Saturday was the busiest day, The rest of our trip it was just every once and a wile nothing before 8:00 am and nothing after 8:00 pm. Besides Breakfast on or Ocean Front Balcony our favorite restaurant was Butch's Steak and Seafood. This is one of the best resorts we have stayed at and we will return!
It is not Antigua, Or Barbados, its got to step up abit in my personal opinion, having a restaurant,'butchs"on the premises that requires close toed shoes, kinda irritating considering your staying at a resort called SANDALS!!Just sayin
Overall a super great experience! We had a few issues with room service taking a while one day or some staff members being rude, but overall the food was delicious, drinks were made well (albeit very strong!!), staff was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome and at home. By the end of the week most of the staff knew our faces and some even knew our names. A great week spent in Jamaica!
I'd like to start off by saying that the staff at this location was absolutely amazing and if it was an option to only rate them I would give them 5 stars. Unfortunately, my rating is based on the overall experience and why I won't be choosing Sandals for our upcoming trips.
First - When we booked our reservation, we chose one of the honeymoon villas with butler service. We went back-and-forth between the swim up pool, or the villa with walkout to the ocean - we chose the villa. After waiting 3 hours to be escorted to our room, we were taken to the second floor, which not only was not a villa nor walk out to the beach, it overlooked the basketball court and the bars; we couldn't even see the ocean. When I explained to the concierge the mix-up, she said the confirmation that was sent did not give us the villa, nor a butler! Which we specifically made sure to choose. It was our honeymoon and we wanted the best experience. The concierge was able to move us to a room on the lower level with a better view of the ocean, but still no butler service. We were told to call the main Sandals, just to be told that we would have to deal with the front desk since we were already there. No help whatsoever. I can't express enough how VERY DISAPPOINTED I was - it was one of the main reasons we chose this resort. We even picked out the specific villa location we wanted.. and walked by it each day (it looked empty, probably because we booked it and were put somewhere else).
Second - It was our honeymoon and we chose a honeymoon package. There was supposed to be champagne, rose pedals and a special breakfast in bed. However small this was - yet again - we never received this package.. even after I called to inform the concierge that they had forgotten and was promised to have it the next evening. . never received.
Third - Room service took over an hour every time and the charcuterie board looked like a piece of american cheese sliced into four pieces with 2 rock hard crackers. Not impressed by the room service at all. *I will note that the actual restaurants were very good for the most part, especially Butch's.
Fourth - We were given a BMW chauffeur service to-and-from the airport with our package. When we went to leave they tried to put us on the bus since it was also not noted in their records (go figure). Luckily, the lady was kind enough to call for a BMW so we did end up receiving this service.
Overall, we were very disappointed that we had spent a lot of time finding the perfect vacation package and never received what we were promised. The villa and butler service was a huge mix-up on Sandals and it was never made right. We'll definitely be switching to Secrets for our anniversary trip.
I enjoyed my stay here. The place is kept very clean and the food is decent. The only thing i did not like was the airplanes constantly going overhead. The good news is they stop flying around sunset and dont begin to fly again until morning.
We could not have been more pleased with our honeymoon trip to Sandals Montego Bay especially during COVID! Melissa from entertainment helped get us a great seat at one of the celebration nights, Cory the butler was amazing for our one day cabana with an amazing espresso martini, Dwayne the bartender by Butch s became our favorite bartender from his jokes, knowledge and ability to make the best drinks on the resort. The resort was clean, efficient, fun and gave us a break from our uncertain world. Definitely will recommend and be coming back in the future.
Overall I'd give this place a 2 out of 5. We had a good time, because we were together, on our honeymoon, but we were really surprised at how expensive it was for the experience. We have been on multiple vacations and this place was the most expensive with the least to offer. Food is not good and made us sick every night. Almost every interaction we've had with the staff is painful. The drinks take forever to order and are definitely watered down. My husband ordered a drink at the bar and the bartender was so annoyed she rolled her eyes and talked to herself slamming stuff as she made the drink. When we went to change our excursion based on the rain the attendan looked at us and laughed... I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing? But very very weird and uncomfortable. We definitely won't be coming back to Jamaica and I'm positive we will never do a sandals resort at the end. Lastly, the photos at the end of the trip to purchase were $540 for 43 - 5x7 photos. I understand they are "professionals" taking the photos, but that is just absurd!
My wife and I have visited this resort four times. We have been in standard rooms and in butler rooms. I am a bilateral amputee below the knees and a spinal cord injured individual. They do absolutely all they can at the resort to make sure everything is right for me. This includes when we didn't have butlers. If you can afford it the butler experience is amazing. They are not intrusive, which I initially feared. They help you figure out how best to spend your time and how they can help you do that very thing. When we go to Sandals we know that everything will be taken care of for us and we know that EVERYONE on the property is willing to stop and say hello and make sure our day is going great. So, if you go I recommend two different sets of butlers. They are both great and either set treated us amazingly. Jermaine and Dalton or Orion and Rushane; simply the best of the best. Now, Autumn and I are not big alcohol drinkers. If you are this is absolutely the place for you but if you are not let me tell you how they might have other things that are truly amazing. First, the scuba diving, we are divers and the experience there is second to none. There are two, one-tank dives daily that are included in the price for staying at the resort. (Take advantage of this and forget the alcohol premium that you feel like you pay). England is in-charge of water-sports and does a great job. Termi (the Terminator, Mr. Reid in real life) is their handicapped trained Dive Master. He is amazing. If you do not know how to dive, then go to Sandals and let Termi teach you. Mikey and Heinsworth are the Boat Captains, Duane, McDaniels and quite a few others make the elite scuba squad at Sandals MoBay. It really is a primo team. I will stop about the scuba. They also have other watersports, snorkeling off a great huge catamaran, a glass bottom boat, you can ski and wake board all day for free in the ocean! Try that at a lake :0). There really is a lot to do at Sandals. The first visit I was a bit concerned for an Adult only get away but it is a great time for you to spend with the one you love. One Love : Jamacia. The best Resort in the world : Sandals Montego Bay.
Sandals is a no-tipping resort. This gives you quite a bit of comfort as not one person on the resort is expecting anything from you. Respect is always appreciated but at Sandals, not required.
If you're looking for a resort with an amazing beach and amazing restaurants this is definitely your place. The overall vibe is a lot of fun and The hospitality is phenomenal.
This was our second time here. There was construction on the back half, which lead to some non- relaxing jackhamming sounds. However, there were also fewer guests here than last time, which was nice because there was always awesome service, reservations were no problem and no wait for water sports. I will likely go somewhere else next time.
The reservations process was amongst the worst experiences ever, however that is a Sandals problem, not s Sandals Montego Bay problem, so I'll stop there.
On to Sandals- Montego Bay....At arrival, the transport and check-in portion of the trip went very smooth...considering the COVID mess at the airport and Sandals travel agent spelling my name wrong on my airline reservation (TOTAL DEBACLE). After having a cocktail and lunch we were taken to our beachfront room (AKA basketball court and flea market view room)...I reached out to the front desk to ask to be relocated to another room....I was told that they would reach out to "Reservation" and that they would call me back...That was 9 days ago....I'm still waiting for a call. Reserved to the fact that I wasn't going to get any assistance, I decided to put up my feet, have a beer and watch some TV to decompress....oh wait, no cable....hmmm.... Well anyway, I went to make a reservation for dinner for our group and moved on....Had a good afternoon...7:30 came around and we went to dinner at Soy.....guess what??? NO RESERVATION was made for us....SMH...anyway they made room for us and dinner and service was great..very pleased. Next day I got up at 5:30, got a beach chair only to be yelled at by a butler because she was "going to" put her stuff there (Chairs were empty)...secured chairs then went to get a cup of coffee...guess what? All coffee machines available to guest were broken...after asking the Cafe de Paris folks if there was any place I could get a coffee they obliged and gave me a cup of the staff coffee (Cafe de Paris was great)...The remainder of the week went like this: Wake up and fight with butlers over chairs, eat breakfast, make reservations, drink and relax, get told they didn't have my reservation (every day except 1, but the one they actually had schedule the called and moved my time), have mediocre food (With the exception of the first say at Soy) and have a night cap. Repeat.
The final night of our trip the four us decided to return to Soy...of course they can't find our reservation...however, once again they sat us...45 min later we got our waters....after an hour or so the waiter came back and took our order...30 min later bits and pieces of our order started making it back to the table...1/2 was correct and 1/2 wasn't, pretty sure we got someone else's order...asked for straws 5 times....the waiter then proceeded to tell us that the new managers suck and that the two of them don't make one of the former manager...giggling the entire time...he was as high as a kite...hahaha...I literally thought I was on a hidden camera comedy show because there is no way a dining experience at a "Luxury resort" could be this bad.
PROS Transport, check-in/out process, bar service, waiter service at the pool, and Catamaran trip
CONS Rooms, responsiveness of the front desk, in room entertainment, mini-bar, dinner reservation process, restaurants and food (Excluding Cafe de Paris), service, smell around outdoor dining area, and fighting butlers for beach seating.
Overall, NOT a good experience. I would struggle to spend another 4k to go back to a Sandals resort because of this experience. I have shared this with everyone who has asked about my trip.
We were married in April 2017 at Sandals Montego Bay, This was my first trip out of the US and my first trip to an all inclusive. We were absolutely amazed of the property and the staff, food, Everything was more then we could have ever imagined. Our wedding was more then perfect the wedding coordinator Princes is very professional, patient and down to earth. We had a butler suit I have read some reviews on Butlers and I have read Don't waste your money ect. Well I am not sure about here experience but we had Marvin and Stephan ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. We went back in November 2017 and had the same butlers we go back again in April 2018 and April 2019 and will have them again. We are not needy people by any means and don't ask for really anything. Its just so nice to have them they are just wonderful and know what you need before you even realize it. The staff is so talented and professional but at the same time so down to earth and really want everyone to have a good time and not because its there job they truly enjoy what they do. The food is very good, there are so many choices. The atmosphere is so relaxing, the beach is secluded which is nice. This is all lead by an amazing GM Carl Otto Beviere he has created a very happy staff. He is always available if you need anything.
Over all if I could give Montego Bay 10 stars I would
Awesome updates, beautiful room and great beach! Food and service was excellent! Will be 5 star once they finish updates on the pool and restaurants. Also control smoking better
I visited this location with my wife and we ate at Stew fish for a quick snack and drinks. Service was great we sat facing the Caribbean Sea. We also stopped and got ice cream at Cafe de Paris and also received excellent service and our ice cream was delicious we will definitely visit again!!
Real nice resort so long as you stay there and only go on their excursions. The rest of the island is pretty much a third world country, no cell service and don't count on cab service.
Amazing beach. Amazing staff. Amazing experience. Took my wife here with her twin sister and boyfriend for their 30th birthday. Sandals caters to their guests requests like no other. Rooms are spacious updated and beautiful. Best things personally are all the acitivites and events they host. They also offer packages for off-site excursions for a little extra money but that is optional. You and it back in a beachide Cabana with drinks flowing from morning to night and not have to move from your beach side chair.
Our trip was FANTASTIC! Every single staff member we interacted with was courteous, helpful, and made us feel right at home. Our room was beauiful, the food was amazing and we had a great time getting to know others on the resort. So many people we talked with have been traveling to Sandals resorts for years and we can now see why!
I love Jamaica the best vacation ever We stayed here at sandals Montego Bay they treated me and my husband like a king and a queen they arranged for us to have a private driver the upgraded our room for anniversary this is a beautiful resort well-kept excellent food and friendly staff tips from CynthiaTravelingQueen find more of my traveling tips on my YouTube channel
Currently under construction and it was not mentioned on the website. Also had to forgo all water sports due to the hurricane that didn't hit. Very upset about how this was handled as sandles did nothing to compensate us for this.
The place was beautiful. The staff were friendly and kind... But, nothing was exactly on time..a bit slap dash...we arrived on a Sunday and got menu from Friday two days in a row...activities not well advertised or organized...Dinner at the Oliabder. Worst steak I have ever been served...but we would visit again..it was beautiful
The room is 1 the staff is 5 . We didn't have hot water for 3 nights. Maintenance would fix it, but somehow it wouldn't work the next day. My friend and I actually paid extra for our room but had to shower in our friend's every night. We also had no window in our room = crummy view (which wasn't a big deal since we weren't in the room much) and the light outside kept us up. The pools were cold. But the food was delicious and the staff was AMAAAAAZZZING. They were so friendly and made sure we felt like we were on vacation. I was surprised at how well they were able to remember every individual
We love Sandals. We took our honeymoon to Sandals Antigua and were so thrilled with our experience in Antigua. We have been so anxious to book another Sandals trip, only we made a mistake by choosing Montego Bay. :( The resort is nice, the food was good, but the majority of the staff was so awful here. We were so heartbroken to have had such an unpleasant experience at the resort of Montego Bay. The staff plays a HUGE role in the customer experience with Sandals. Our first morning there we sat down for Breakfast at Bayside. We ordered coffees and waters. The server brought our waters and we assumed our coffees were to follow, no biggie! Another server walked by and he stated "it's comin" and my husband said "no problem could I just get some silverware?' That server shouted "I said it's comin!" We were kind of like oh wow okay.. so we continued on thinking maybe that guy was just having a bad day. The same day we went to a bar and ordered the Jamaica Smile that some other guests strongly recommended to us. The bartender told us "I don't have banana so I am making it without." Okayyyyy.......? The drink was pure chunky ice so we had to walk all the way across the resort to re-order this drink from another bar. She made it perfectly, it was so yummy and exactly what other guests raved about! The next afternoon my husband wanted to go wakeboarding. We walked to the Aqua Center at 3:15 because they close at 4. The guy behind the counter told us they are closed for the day. Yet, all the kayaks, sail boats, paddle boards, and all the other water toys were still out and guests were still using some of those items on the water. Our final morning while waiting on the shuttle to arrive by 11:30 am, my husband went to the main bar in the lobby where we are told to wait and ordered two glasses of champagne for us before our exit. The bartender looked at him inconvenienced and said "I don't have champagne right now so you need to walk all the way over there to get it." We only had three nights here as we don't have a babysitter often. We were so looking forward to another Sandals trip together and the staff of Montego Bay purely ruined that weekend get away for us. We were so disappointed in the attitudes the majority of the staff had and were truly heart broken by our experience. We will never recommend Sandals Montego Bay to anyone. We even had friends already booked with Montego Bay and they switched resorts because of our experience.Truly sad.
We have admired the culture of the island of Jamaica for years, and after long conversations with a Sandals rep in the uk, their Montego resort in Jamaica seemed like the perfect option for our 2 week New Years trip.. With a great mix of relaxation, activity and leisure, we wouldn t have to put much thought into anything as everything is included.
My husband and I have been putting money aside for this once in a life time trip via our pension for years. We first stared planning our trip to Montego Bay over a year ago. So needless to say we were more than a little excited.
My son got married this September, and my daughter the summer before (and is expecting a baby in the new year!!). So the idea was to organise a once in a lifetime trip as a family to celebrate, and most importantly - totally relax.
Upon arrival it s obvious that the resort delivers on the majority of its description, the beach front property is truly beautiful. However after about ten minutes after our arrival, alarm bells started ringing. A low flying aircraft wooshed overhead.. The planes continued through until 10:45 pm. After a 14 hour journey we were absolutely exhausted and all we wanted to do was sleep! Unfortunately the planes started up again just after 6:30am.. this routine repeated daily throughout our stay pretty much.
Reading online and checking various apps, it seems that there are between 30-40 flights ARRIVING to Montego Bay each day. My son works in music and sound and used an app to record the decibel levels within his room, apparently one flight registered at close to 100db.. which is what you can expect to hear at a rock concert! This is a detail the Sandals rep certainly forgot to mention! As well as the pollution aspects of course.
Unfortunately this is not where it stopped. My husband and I opted for a room upgrade and paid a premium for a Suite with a butler as a treat. We booked the others a walkout ocean view room with a soaking tub . Our room in particular was not as we had hoped and definitely not worth the extra money. In 2015 we stayed in Sandals Antigua in a beachfront rondel with a butler (which was amazing) With no direct access to the beach, and Inadequate privacy from our neighbours. Our suite was virtually indistinguishable from the other rooms booked which was disappointing. Although the butlers were good.
Unfortunately we felt we had no choice other than to request to move resorts. Although the staff were nothing but polite during our stay, the alternatives offered were completely inadequate. Because of the time of year, we were told that there was no way of moving to any of the other the Sandals resorts in Jamaica immediately, so we had to grin and bear the noise until they found a solution. In the end were offered the option of moving to the Sandals South Coast resort on New Year s Day.. we decided to take this option on the understanding that our rooms would be exactly the same, if not an upgraded quality of room ..We were extremely disappointed to miss the spectacular New Years celebration with fireworks we had thought we would have because of the airport. We d experienced this in Antigua in 2015. Such a shame.
It has to be said that the South Coast resort is truly beautiful. The vibe is much more in line with what we were expecting. This time our suite was close to the other rooms and really luxurious. However, unfortunately this time the other two rooms were a lower grade, and didn t feature the soaking tubs, and beach access that we had been promised. However at this point we were sick of complaining, and really just wanted to get on with our holiday..
I hope this review acts as a warning for anyone travelling to Sandals Montego Bay - if you re after a relaxing break WITHOUT jet engines. Make sure you book one of the other resorts on the island. We have to say though that the staff have been wonderful and are happy and want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The island of Jamaica is absolutely beautiful. However we wont be staying with Sandals again.
Overall good experience. The resort is very nice and the staff is great. One thing to be aware of... We got the Oceanfront Swim-up Butler Suite w/ Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub. It was oceanfront. There was a swim-up pool and the tub. However, this was no suite. It's a basic hotel room. It's actually a fairly small hotel room. After about 4 hours in Jamaica you will start to tire of the constant "yeah, mon". If you go off the resort, be prepared to be hustled for tips. For us it started right off the plane.
Wonderful friendly staff, unlike I have never experienced anywhere else..great gourmet dining..superbly kept grounds, spotless pools..just cant say enough about the staff..a little rainy for us but otherwise perfect
Booked for 2 weeks 6 months in advance, based on online reviews and photos :( Filthy room, ants crawling up the walls in longgggg trails, light in bathroom was broken as was the front door light, bed headboard and frame badly damaged, sand on floor upon arrival, 2 dirty used glasses at bathroom sink (one still had lipstick on it), toothpaste in sink, constant issues with door lock, mildew around edges of bathtub, toilet stains, only 2 towels. Contacted management and housekeeping several times, nothing done except some extra towels brought on day 2. Requested a different room, was told there was none available. Nearly 2 hour wait to checkin as lobby was packed and staff was very overwhelmed. Man who helped us with our bags for our room did not even say one word to us. Wrote Sandals 3 times after our return home and they never responded. 4th and last letter to them I received a short note back saying if we wanted to book another week they would give us one night free. No thanks! I am not a drinker but the few drinks I had over the 2 weeks were very weak. Food was average and we are not picky. Hostess and staff at main restaurant were great however.
Great atmosphere, it's Jamaica!! Food was okay. 90% was food that I could have gotten in the US. The on-site restaurants were okay but nothing to get excited about. The staff was very friendly and eager serve. The rooms were spectacular, pool with bar-divine. I was just expecting more from food.
Great time, great atmosphere, and great staff. The food was just okay to me because I am Jamaican and I know what real Jamaican food taste but it was good for feeding the mass. I think we went at the wrong time of the year because it was not much partying going on at all. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Over all a great place to stay and my husband and I had a great time going outside the resort to visit my family and get real Jamaican food and really share the culture and the island with him.
