For Ballet lovers, this is a place to go without any second thought. I luckily got an awesome view from balcony, thanks to my friend who went beyond to get the ticket. As you expect the got a great service and when it comes to food and drinks you get more than you expect. We went early and came out as the last person. We totally enjoyed everything.

Seats are too small for modern man!

We went to see the "Cinderella" Ballet in this beautiful building. There are plenty of bathrooms for the hundreds of guests. The food, snacks and drinks are readily available at normal prices. We could hear the outstanding, perfect orchestra. The dancers were beautifully, richly, costumed. The seats are comfortable and everyone can see the whole stage, no matter where one sits. All in all a wonderful, memorable experience.

Even more expensive seating in orchestra is easily blocked by people sitting in front of you. Seats are dated and very uncomfortable. The performance of the Nutcracker opening night and 75th anniversary seemed more like a children's matinee. Hardly anyone dressed up, mostly jeans and casual clothes, very disappointing

First time at the opera house. It is smaller that I thought it would be. But that make for a more intimate experience when viewing an opera. I am here for the Ring Cycle and am impressed with all the activites included to help me enjoy my experience. Also call the box office about reduced parking nearby. We only paid $14 for parking.

This building has charm & is fun to take pictures in between the performances. All views from every section are nice. Call the Cafe at The Opera at least 24 hour in advance to skip lines and have drinks/food waiting for you during intermission. SF Ballet & Opera have a fantastic collection of props, stage back drops, and costumes. It's part of what makes performances here so spectacular. The building is historically protected and explains why all women's bathrooms are on the south side of the building and men's on the north (women: right of stage & men: left) This is also why the seats are so out-dated, uncomfortable, and close together.

Nijinsky by the Ballet of Canada was intense, emotional, haunting and beautiful. The SF Opera House seats are very uncomfortable. Although a beautiful space architecturally and interior design wise, would be amazing if the seats were a little roomier

Pre-opera lectures are nice. Nice venue. Shows vary. Nice old school building makes it feel like an event. Some folks get super dressed up. Others come as they are. Parking at civic center garage works well. Lots of places for dinner around before or after the show. Seats are old and not very comfy.

Classic venue with a wide range of performance. It is of course home to the San Francisco Ballet. The San Francisco Ballet Orchestra has a playlist on Spotify. I have seen a number of wonderful performances here not limited to the ballet. It's a great venue for performances in general music always sounds great.

Full house on a Tuesday evening for Romeo and Juliet performance. It's a nice experience even for those who don't know music all that much. I strongly suggest getting tickets in advance and arriving early. It's a beautiful place to be appreciated without rush. Most people dress well for the occasion (kind of formal) but it isn't really a must.

We saw the annual Shen Yun show and it was AMAZING. Ok, enough about the show, more about the opera house. The architecture and lighting is beautiful. The curtains and backdrop also adds to the magnificent feeling. The whole thing just makes you feel so small. We also saw Sean Fugiyoshi which was GREAT. It just goes to show that even people like him go to visit these places on a trip to SF.

First time to this venue. We got the cheap seats this time but I've already booked tickets for another opera. They have bars on every floor and let you take drinks into the auditorium with you. It's beautiful and feels like an old school Opera House, which I love.

The Opera was fabulous, but the Opera House, while it's beautiful and elegant, disappointed me. I might get slack for this, but it was kinda scary getting to our seats in Balcony 3. I didn't realize how steep the stairs we're and if I had to go any higher, I think my vertigo would have set in.

There is no leg room. It was hot and after the second act, we moved to standing room because I was getting a little claustrophobic and fidgety.

It's a good thing there was a screen displaying the Opera and subtitles.

But, it was an experience and I am glad I went.

My husband, daughter, and myself attended the Nutcracker performance (SF Ballet) in December and this location made a spectacular experience all the more memorable! We went on a Sunday afternoon and had no issues finding parking in a garage by the Civic Center which we paid $10 for. The garage was a little tight for my husband's 2016 Dodge Ram and if you need a lot of clearance for a bigger sized vehicle I would maybe recommend another parking lot. The exterior architecture of the old building is beautiful and when you enter you will find beautiful marble floors, friendly staff, and several levels accessing the sections for seating. The main floor and basement offer a cafe/restaurant and souvenirs as well as classic Christmas decorations. When we found our seats in the balcony, the lighting was dim with velvet red curtains and gold interior. The seats were fairly comfortable and were plush although they do not recline at all. If you have a fear of heights, I would recommend sitting closer to ground level as the incline to accommodate all of the upper level and balcony seating is intense. The sound from the orchestra is very well balanced and soothing and the stage takes a crescent shape making it appear bigger and more visually appealing. The performance had me in tears as I watched the amazing talent during the two hour show (minus the 20 minute intermission)! The dancers, the costumes, the music and composition, and overall experience is one of the best I've ever had in my life and worth every dollar! I hope to come back again in the near future to see Swan Lake!
