I was here for a performance of the Marriage of Figaro the other night from 7:30 until about 11pm. The time went by very quickly during the lively performance. This is one of the top opera houses in the world. The acoustics are excellent, the performers are amazing, the seats are comfortable.
Tip: bring some sandwiches and snacks so avoid the rush at intermission

Make a reservation at the North Bar for intermission if you're visiting there for an opera. If you don't get a live person leave a detailed msg with your credit card info as well. Preorder your intermission snack, the crab salad and cheese board are good choices. During your intermission go straight up there. Your table, champagne, and refreshments will be ready. Oh, don't forget to check in when you arrive. The menu can be found online. The service is impeccable. The opera house itself is classic romantic. Depending on your taste in opera and music you should have a lovely time with a friend or a loved one.

I volunteered at a fundraiser. The space was phenomenal. There are women's, men's, and all-gender restrooms on each floor, ADA accessible restrooms and access throughout the building. No parking, but nearby parking garages or street parking.

Beautiful Opera House, seats just about anywhere are good seats, acoustics are pretty good and they have supertitles above the stage in English so you can understand what's going on. Lots of parking close by for about $20, food and drinks on sale at the Opera House. You can also make a reservation in advance for dinner or for a snack at the second intermission to be ready for you to sit right down to your meal with enough time to eat and get back the show for the second half.

If you are an art lover, then make sure to add the War Memorial Opera House to your list of best things to do in San Francisco. Keep in mind that tickets sell out quickly. Therefore, if you d like to attend performances such as The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, and Frankenstein, then book a few months before your trip. If you decide to take in a show at the Opera House, you may wish to dress up for the occasion but it is not required.

An absolutely beautiful venue, even if the seats are desperately in need of an upgrade. The stage is very large and the acoustics are fantastic. Considering that they are one of the few California ballets and operas with a full orchestra, sound is key.

Beautiful building, amazing shows!

Beautiful building, amazing shows!
Seating is a little weird in the front rows, chairs are low and people in front of you obstruct the view, so upper seats are better visibility ones...of course a little far from the scene...

We usually attend a matinee and have brunch first at Prelude at the Opera House. The food is excellent- fresh, flavorful with a good variety of choices even for vegans. The opera is always simply beautiful in so many ways.

Nice.

Beautiful venue, great acoustics. Handicap accessible. Seats and carpet are worn and in need of repair. Full buffet is great! Toilet seats are very low. Interior stairs to seats are very steep.

Stunning interior! What are place to see an amazing production of The Nutcracker. Hey here early, especially if you are getting food or drinks beforehand. This is a great place for the kids to, they look forward to The Nutcracker here every year.

The performance of The Nutcracker ballet was stellar! As far as the War Memorial Opera House is concerned, it's an extremely old building that could use a lot of updating... Their ADA accommodations are laughable, and the elevators are extremely slow... There are not enough restrooms for all the patrons that attended, and I heard several people say the alcohol was extremely watered down. But it's an absolutely beautiful building, with a lot of history!
