Salty's beach house Review

So I've been here a few times before and the food is good. However, on a recent visit I think I received the worst service yet. Actually I can't say that, but as we received no service at all. We were seated, and just waited. People who came in after us were seated, and received their drinks and no one had even spoken a word to us. One server delivered drinks to the people at the next table looked at us and left. I made eye contact with another server who left and went inside. We finally got fed up and left. Very disappointing, food is good but not sure I'll return. Went somewhere else and recieved fantastic service.

I always get the fisherman's pot. Was great as always

Good atmoshere BUT food is no where near what it was and drinks are expensive and weak.

First time here was amazing!
The staff is great. The food is great. The atmosphere was decent and the view was amazing. Not much more to say other than check it out for yourself, you want bre disappointed.

The pulled pork poutine was great and so was the peanut butter pie. The fish tacos were just okay. They seem to really like cilantro. Service was very good.

Their wait list is a joke. We called and they told us about 45 mins and put us on the list. Said we could not make a reservation which is fine being a busy time of year. They also said they would send us a text to notify us when they have a table for 3. We showed up 45 later and were told we would be 13th on the wait list. I asked about how their wait list works and the response was " it only really matters if you are here, we have so many people on the list we have no idea who is even here" I explained we were told we were on the list and told 45mins. It had now been about 1.5 hrs since that call!?!?!??! They need to change their procedures and not take names unless you are on site. Also it was so loud you could no have a conversation with anyone at your table. Music blaring and everyone practically screaming over top of it. TURN OFF THE MUSIC 'cause no one can hear it anyway! They also got my order completely wrong. It had so much cilantro in it that's all you could taste. I I ordered the Pad Thai with . just chicken. Arrived with Chicken Tofu and the odd piece of shrimp! I am allergic to shrimp! Very disappointing experience and would never go again. Not to mention how over staffed they were, which I had never seem in my life. We could at least 10 young girls standing around at any given time doing absolutely nothing. We tried to figure what their job was as they were not waiting tables. Another 6 or 7 standing around at the hostess counter with only 1 or 2 actually doing anything. It was very strange to say the least. Staff were constantly bumping into each other and I have never hear so many dishes break in my life. At least one every 5 mins or so. Way over rated. Cambo restaurant down the street has much superior home made food and is quiet and enjoyable with a patio right on the water as well and no silly long wait. Salty's is way over-rated!

Great Food, but got my order wrong and then had to wait for my food while my family got to eat. Then did not offer to compensate for their error. Good food, not so great service

I called to order pick up and was left on hold for 22 minutes. I get this place can get busy but this was ridiculous.

So delicious PLUS great staff!!! I highly recommend!

Food is ok, and it's expensive for what you get. Servers are friendly, but not always very good at remembering things. Kitchen was excellent as our food came very fast.

Okay experience but was not wowed. Fries came out cold and then sent them back. Waiter offered to take the fries off the bill. Entrees were satisfactory. When bringing the bill, the waiter forgot to remove the fries and charged us twice. He did apologize for the mistake and was very friendly.

All I can say is get the burgers and butter chicken. Oddly for a non Indian restaurant they have some of the better butter chicken I have had in a while. The flavors and spices are amazing and it's not bland at all. The burgers are seasoned to perfection and taste amazing.

The atmosphere is always great and the restaurant is never dead. Highly recommend going here with a small group or family while in Penticton.

A truly creative menu, Poutine made with grated motzorello is actually not poutine, Calamari with a bean dip doesn t really do it, chirozu sausage in a soup only works if there is actually any sausage in it. Clam chowder disguised as fish and tomato soup should I go on. To say the meal was a disappointment would be an understatement.

The butter chicken is exceptional! The staff is great and the environment is beachy and fun! This is our go to restaurant every time we are in Penticton.

Good food. Nice atmosphere. Decent beer selection. A Penticton classic.

Wonderful celebratory night in the off-season, gorgeous patio in the spring/summer but no matter the weather or the season the food and the staff are absolutely wonderful. Extra love to our server Matt for taking such great care of us during an impromptu Valentine's/Birthday dinner celebration, tip him well always.

Meh---- patio on the lake keeps it going, but the food is nothing great at all. Won't go back.

Enjoyed brunch at Saltys on Sunday. We were seated on the lower level patio. The server was friendly and prompt. The seaside Benny and Get in the Hole were served hot and tasted excellent. A great location across from the beach with a really relaxed vibe. The ladies room is really dark and could use better lighting.

Management not able to handle a large group of 20 n the fish tacos had way too much cilantro but good atmosphere

Had dinner as a group of 6 a couple of days ago. Were informed there would be a 45 min wait, which we expected. Not a problem. Once we were seated, we were promptly looked after for drinks. Getting repeat beverages wasn't impossible, but it took a while. My wife's meal was really very bland and not cooked or prepared all that well. Having said that, all of the other meals were prepared excellently and were delicious. We had a great evening, with better than average service, and mostly excellent food.
Will definitely come back.
Would highly recommend Salty's for a great dinner as a couple or group.

A good atmosphere, super nice people. Lots of young people working there. The place isn't really clean but the food was good.

Ordered the Scallops remoulade, Bahama breeze pizza, and Ahi and Avocado Salad.

Scallops and the sauce were yummy but the naan that came with it was hard and chewy. The ahi tuna looked better than it tasted.. BUT I have to say the pizza was delicious. It was thin, soft and very cheesy.. I would potentially go there again and order it as TAKE-OUT

I say that because, though the young waitress serving us seemed nice, she accidentally added two drinks to our order and we noticed after we paid. Getting a refund was a hassle to say the least. She came back and forth and then finally a third time with another woman (maybe the manager). She offered a gift card for the price of the drinks only. We were not impressed to say the least as we were tourist and would not be able to use the gift card. This could have been prevented if the waitress held back on engaging in activities with other patrons that she probably shouldn't have been doing anyways.

Environment and blankets on the upper patio were nice though...

Food was ok. Server brought wrong order and then charged us for it after we brought it up and had it replaced.

Never disappoints! Love this place! Great options for the family, drinks are great, food is awesome! Not overly priced. My meal at Boston pizza was more expensive the night before! We ordered: appetizer: tuna roll. Meals: mini burgers for our little one, shrimp tacos (gluten-free, dairy-free), seared tuna poke plate, fish & chips. We all loved everything! Service was great - restaurant and bathrooms were clean!

Excellent service, groovy music, pleasant atmosphere, phenomenal food, beautiful waitresses.

The view, atmosphere and service was fantastic. The food was disappointing for all. Jerk chicken was bland, the Pad Thai had not 1 prawn, which was supposed to be a part of the meal. The fishermens bowl has 1 mussel that was just an empty shell. We'll be back but just for drinks.

Vegan Tuna Nachos are the best nachos I have had!!! Margarita Monday for the $5 margarita is amazing too. All so delicious! I can't wait to come back for more of the options. Super friendly employees too!

Food was ok other that the rotten greens in the salad! Service was deplorable! I guess when you're on the beach in Penticton you think people will accept anything!!!

We all ordered completely different things of the menu and everything was several notches above average.
If there's events in town (which there usually is) plan to wait a while for a table, but well worth it!
Not much of a wait for food even when the place was busy, but even if the kitchen were to be a bit slow the bar will keep you hydrated until your food arrives.
Parking can be tricky. But between having a drink, parking & helping the environment, just get a cab or walk it. It's beautiful.

It s true what the reviews say- friendly service but so so slow. Wonder what makes it so slow? Kitchen is slow to take prep the food? Orders aren t put in time? General disorganization? Hope they fix all that cuz the views are killed and the seafood is FRESH!

One of the better places along the beach to grab a bite. Second level patios with craft beer and amazing food create a good time. The chairs are a little uncomfortable and a couple minor issues prevent it from being a 5 but still amazing.

The servers and everyone was nice, and while the food was ok it was just that...ok. We had the fish tacos they were fine, but honestly I could get better tortillas at the grocery store. My friend got the fisherman's pot and it was very acidic.

Pirate themed ..good beer ..pretty good food..nice staff. Kid friendly during lunch dinner service but not to sure about the late evening.

Awesome food, awesome drinks and an awesome view of the beach. It's a pretty casual pirate themed pub style place, kid and adult friendly with awesome seafood. I highly recommend the fisherman's pot for those who like some spice.

Really diverse menu with something for everyone, and the patio is beautiful. Service, food, and drinks were also really good. I just wish the crowd control outside the entrance was a bit better

Hands down one of the best restaurants I've ever been to the fish tacos are to-die-for they have this amazing jerk sauce among many other sauces there poke bowl is so delicious way better than a lot of the Vancouver restaurants I've been to nothing tasted fishy everything tasted fresh the servers were very polite welcoming the drinks are spectacular I will always come back here when I visit Penticton

My family and I visited penticton over the weekend and came across Saltys on google, judging from the great reviews we had to stop by. There was a line up out the door but it was well worth the wait! We got a seat on the patio and although we noticed how busy it was our drinks came in a timely manner and they were amazing! Our waitress Emily, who was so sweet and fun, talked up the Maui mai tais which we loved! She was very knowledgeable about the menue and was really fun to converse with! All around the staff were friendly and kind, the food was to die for, we started with the Bahama breeze pizza as suggested to us and it did not disappoint! Definitely will come visit again on our next trip!

Long standing Penticton staple that didnt disappoint! Took awhile to get a table on the patio but once we were seated our server was on top of things. Oysters, chicken tacos and yam fries were delish!

Saltys was a fun atmosphere. I expected campy dining, but I was surprised with perfectly cooked Mahi Mahi.
Very nice drinks, great server. And a plesant time all around.

First I will say our food was fantastic, as it usually is! I have always enjoyed coming to Salty's however, I have never recieved worse service than what we received this past weekend. Service was bad from start to finish beginning with the disorganized hostess', and then waited almost 30 mins until our drinks got delivered to the table (while we watched them just sit on the bar), we ordered an appetizer which we asked to have prior to our meal but all the food came out at once, our server Brought us the wrong bill not once but 3 times! He seemed very overwhelmed. We also noticed little COVID "procedures" being followed and zero social distancing.

Had a great time here, ordered the fisherman's bowl. Definitely would go back when I return to the area. FYI - its the place to be on the water front, so be prepared to wait or have a reservation (if they take them).

This place is one of my favorites. Stop here every time I am in Penticton. Great location, good atmosphere, service and food have always been to the mark. Lots of choices on the menu and prices are very reasonable. Try the ceviche.

Nice location and patios with mediocre food. The side salad was old and brown and spent at least a day in its bowl in the fridge.

Great view, decent food, awful service. Waited fifteen minutes for drinks, another half hour for burgers, and didn't see our waitress again until she wandered over with the bill and tried talking us up for a tip. I've worked in food service, I know it gets busy, but this wasn't the issue today. It was 3:00PM and we were one of only a few seated tables on the top floor. I'd hate to be here during dinner rush, you'd be stuck here all night.

On the advice of a local letter carrier we met at the VQA Wine store we had dinner at Salty's. Great menu choices, reasonable prices, good food and staff and they have the best peanut pie ever. A wonderful casual dining experience.

The service here was great! The was really good and didn't wait long for your food to be served.
