Amazing Vietnamese food in this hidden West Loop gem.

I tried their (very reasonable) Prix Fix menu to grab steamed dumplings, steak bo luc lac (stir fry with oyster sauce and veggies), and fried cinnamon sugar bao with a coffee caramel for dessert...all for $36! Check OpenTable for deals as we got a buy one get one free fried chicken bao that saved us $5.

Our server also made up some delicious cocktails (try the Saigon 75) but there was a nice short list of Southeast Asian beers available too--including a personal favorite Beer Lao Dark.

The food was delicious! I ordered a build-your-own bowl with the Vietnamese barbecue Waygu beef and my husband had the curry soup (ca ri da) and both were very comforting and full of flavor! We highly recommend this spot as the service was prompt, food was great, and the owner was very friendly and made sure we were taken care of. Great little spot!

The food is superbly flavorful without being spicy hot - very well balanced flavors in both the dishes I tried. The fish special (sea bass tonight) was served whole and cooked perfectly. I had to ask for some extra rice at the end to not leave the broth behind. Extremely warm and hospitable service from everyone with the owner stopping by to check on everyone. A lot of guests seemed like regulars. Will definitely stop by here every time I visit the area for work, the fish was amongst the best I've eaten.

Came to Saigon Sisters as this was the place with the most authentic menu. I must say I was not disappointed! Had the grilled baby octopus and a few Bahn Bao s as appetizers and they were incredible.
As my main dish, I had the Bun Bo Hue since I like my dishes spicy and this was right on par.
Delicious!! I finished the whole bowl and broth!
Highly recommend!!

Let me start off with the fact that I was going to take photos of my food, but I was so excited to dig in that I forgot to.

Excellent service and impeccable food. I am thoroughly impressed. Vietnamese food is one of my go-to s and after moving to Chicago, I hadn t found anywhere near the Loop that were up to my standards.

A round of applause to Saigon Sisters for making this an unforgettable meal. The server and one of the owners were welcoming and allowed me to create one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes even though it was not technically on the menu. I will definitely be back!

Great menu with some authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The worst part about this place is that its generally really busy and can have a wait. Great lunchtime atmosphere a bit outside of the business of the loop.

Way Way Way overpriced. 1 bowl pho, 1 spring roll, a side of kimchi, a fried rice with some sparkling water was almost $100 out the door. Ouch! Food is run of the mill Vietnamese with far less of the trimmings you'd find at an authentic spot.

This is my second review of this first-rate, famil...

This is my second review of this first-rate, family-run small business. Well-deserving of repeated adulations, Saigon Sisters is exceptional in its cuisine, service, and its tenacity to survive an ongoing pandemic.

My friends and I discovered this hidden gem near the Chicago River when I had a desperate craving for Banh Mi one July afternoon. At first, I was uneasy about eating indoors anywhere given COVID-19, but our host and restaurant-owner, Dan, made us feel right at home and assertively followed indoor-dining restrictions. The food was SO GOOD that we came back three times that week to enjoy more Fresh Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls, Banh Baos, and Vietnamese Coffee.

Over the past eight months, I have sampled almost everything on the menu from Papaya Salad and Pho to Bo Luc Lac (beef tenderloin) and BBQ Eggplant and I truly love every dish. The crown jewels of the menu are the Laksa and the Whole Branzino. It goes without saying that you should definitely make room for the desserts such as the Bread Pudding (with Vietnamese-style whipped cream) and Fried Baos.

Beyond the bold fusion of flavors, Saigon Sisters offers plenty of vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, and Halal dishes which I can attest are equally (if not more!) delicious. In addition, the extensive non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverage offerings (especially the Saigon 75 cocktail) are very refreshing.

Mary, co-owner and behind-the-scenes food visionary, is constantly innovating in the kitchen. While she pushes the culinary boundaries, her esteemed mother plants the roots on homestyle recipes (such as her special prawn crackers) as a testament to their homeland of Vietnam from where they became refugees to the US.

Their motto of hospitality and culinary excellence extends beyond their Lake Street restaurant and outposts at the French Market and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. During the pandemic, Mary collaborated with fellow womxn and immigrant-run, independent restaurants to offer cross-cuisine menu packages which besides exciting even the most scrupulous of foodies provided an inspirational level of support and fellowship in these difficult times.

Saigon Sisters is an esteemed staple in the effervescent Chicago food scene. And yet, Dan and Mary treat you like family whether you re a first-time diner or a frequent flyer like myself. On your future dining (and carry-out!) excursions, be sure to visit Saigon Sisters!

If you think lunch here is good, dinner will absolutely knock your hair back. The Vietnamese lunch staples always satisfy. Although the Pho could benefit from extra protein portions in each bowl, its a heck of a deal at the price point. All the Bahn Mi are delicious, each in their own way. As for dinner, the menu constantly changes, but it remains delicious. I'd order whatever they just added to the menu.

If it looks trendy, it's not good or authentic! I was in the area and decided to stop in, totally not worth my time. The pho was bland and portion was small (literally a couple pieces of brisket and noodles). The mint and bean sprouts to accompany the pho was insulting (maybe 10 pieces of bean sprouts?).

Really GREAT food. Lots of options, salads, appetizers, dumplings, pho, entrees. Always consistently good. Owned by a husband and his Thai-born wife, he works the front and she cooks magic in the kitchen.

Excellent food, spirits, and service! Like others, I have not had Vietnamese food before. I was able to sample the shrimp spring rolls, a small sandwich made with unleavened bread and a crunchy spiced meat, as well as the Bun Bo Hue as my main dish. Fantastically flavorful, but spiciest meal I've ever had. The meats were incredibly tender and flavorful. I also recommend the pork belly. It's much sweeter, like many Thai beef dishes I have had, but exquisite.

Where do I even start with this restaurant. The food, the service just impeccable. I cannot stress how delicious the food and drinks are. As a vegetarian, I relished the jackfruit baos, the vegetarian laksa, green curry, and my lychee martini. My non-veg friends were drooling over the steak baos, baby octopus, the pork belly ramen, and the amazing signature Branzino.

**If you are looking for a sign for whether or not to go here... this is your sign.**

Finally, I just want to stress how wonderful of an overall experience I had. The owner and staff at this restaurant are absolutely lovely, and treated us with such kindness. I want to give a huge thank you to them you will definitely see us again soon.

The food is good enough. I love the light taste of the food. It's not too salty or too sweet like some other restaurants. The place is especially clean. The waiter and the owner are friendly. They was welcoming and taking good care of us. I love the atmosphere here, it makes me want to come back again.

Looking for new lunch spots in the area and was beyond excited to find a place that does tofu banh mi. Ordered a sandwich and a single bao and both were incredibly dry. Bahn mi bread was almost stale, the tofu on both was rubbery and dry with an overwhelming teriyaki flavor, and both items needed a sauce of some sort. After waiting over an hour for delivery, this was a total let down and nothing like the bahn mis I've enjoyed in other cities. Hopefully the rest of their food is better, but I won't be back.

Vietnamese cuisine is among one of the best in the world because it is fresh, flavorful and balanced with a unique combination of culinary influences from French, Chinese and Southeast Asian cultures. But the most exciting place to savor it all is in Saigon which has an amazing variety of regional cuisines from all over Vietnam.

Saigon sisters brought me the BEST ever birthday experience during Quarantine 2020. I can t appreciate more.

Thanks for Saigon sisters and Ambassador of the restaurant for this memorable day!!!

First of all...OMG the Branzino is AMAZING! It so flakey and the flavors are fresh and bright. Definitely try it...you won t be disappointed.

We ordered from the 2020 restaurant week menu and got the sriracha wings, the fried pork dumplings, the catfish (ca koh?), the Branzino, coffee flan, and bread pudding.

We also got the Thai iced tea.

I can t say how delicious everything was but I ll give it a try...

IT WAS ALLLLLLLL DELICIOUS!

...and to top it all off, Dan and the staff were all wonderful.

Chef's special of the night was whole trout. Excellent preparation with citrus and herbs. Really enjoyed the fish and spring rolls. Slight twist on classic Vietnamese that works. They carry Beer Lao which is a treat as well, one of the better SE Asian beers available.
