I'm sorry. I really wanted to love this place, but we had an awful takeout experience. We had the NYE takeout meal for two, and with wine and tip ran just north of $300. It comprised seven very underwhelming dishes. Frankly, we would have been much happier with fast food.
Gougeres were good. I would not order again but for one of many courses, it worked
Oysters: absolutely delicious - the truffle butter was great
Foie Gras: portion was too much, and they didn't provide the brioche to offset the overwhelming flavor
Lobster pot pie: good flavor but overly soupy. Probably should've baked longer than 25 mins? The directions weren't very detailed.
Duck confit: good but besides the potatoes was very small portion for two. Also excessive amount of duck sauce and then barely any salad. We literally had two bites each of both the duck and the salad. Portions were just completely off here which was very disappointing.
Panna Cotta: before this dish, I was going to leave a 3/5 star review. But this was inedible. Literally tasted like spoiled cream cheese even though we refrigerated it for the entire three hours it was in our possession. I almost spat it back out. My girlfriend refused to eat it as well after simply licking the back of her spoon. I questioned if this was even the panna cotta because I doubted that this could possibly be the course, but no, I was correct and it was one of the worst things I've ever put in my mouth.
Opera cake: very good. Had to eat in intervals given how strong the flavors were, but enjoyed very much.
Red wine: great pick, very light. We both enjoyed.
I'd really like to give this place a better review, but the portions and taste just absolutely disappointed, especially given the cost. We could've had takeout nearly anywhere in the city for a comparable or lower price. We'll laugh this one off as an appropriate end to 2020, but at least some of the dishes were good.
Only uploading a picture of the salad to emphasize there were about 8 pieces of lettuce to be split between two people. Either create a garnish or do nothing. Really made an effort to support a local small business and have rarely been more disappointed.

Had an amazing lunch today at Le Bouchon with a good friend. Service was terrific. Amazing wine, food and dessert. Super quaint and cozy French bistro in Wicker that is definitely a must! I'll for sure be back!

Amazing French fare. I was lucky enough to get chanterelles in a gravy sauce on toast, which were in season. I also had foie gras two ways and it was delicious. My girlfriend had the steak frites and we finished with a chocolate pastry on ice cream. All was amazing! Nice work!

The food was definitely a 5/5. The truffle waffle is out of this world and something everyone needs to eat. The only reason why it s 4/5 is because of how tight the space is. I know it s part of the ambiance but it s still annoying to be eating dinner and having servers bumping into you.

Amazing experience, the half off wine bottle night was insane! I got to taste some wine I have never had before off of their extensive bottle list.

food was amazing, only one complaint - the baguette that came with the bread and butter service was hard. not like crispy on the outside delicious french bread hard - like I'm chewing rubber hard.

everything else was perfect though :-)

I saw Le Bouchon on Seated and decided to book. We ordered their onion soup, escargot, duck for two and chocolate dessert. The onion soup was a little too cheesy but the broth was delicious and the onions melt in your mouth. The escargot was also delicious and we used the butter they were brought in as bread spread because it was so good. The highlight of the night was the duck. Before bringing it to the table, the server showed it to us, asking if it was well done enough. It was perfectly cooked and the skin was not too crispy. It was served with gravy and cabbage side. Dessert was also surprisingly good. The serving size was small but it was so heavy that we couldn't eat any more. We also had plenty of wine, asking the servers to pair whichever wine they thought best and plenty of French75 cocktails-- ssoooo good!! I would definitely go back again!!

Really phenomenal food, I live nearby and am kicking myself for not going sooner! The mussels were unbelievably delicious, my trout en croute was *to die for,* my partner s scallops were perfectly cooked, and the chocolate dessert was just out of this world. Our service was also wonderful and I found the relaxed, casual atmosphere of the restaurant to be very warm and inviting. We will definitely be returning many times in the future.

Ordered two Tock to Go meals last night from Le Bouchon and they were delicious! I got the burger meal, the truffle fries and garlic aioli were amazing and the burger so juicy and delicious with the stinky french cheese. Salted caramel shake, so delicious. Meanwhile, my partner got the roasted chicken meal which was equally delicious and an equally massive portion! We have leftovers for lunch. Looking forward to visiting this hidden gem for in person dining one day.

Le Bouchon was everything I read in the reviews and more! The food was nothing short of fantastic and our server Marcel was so friendly and helpful especially for two picky eaters who normally resort the the typical cheeseburger and fry we will definitely be returning and highly suggest the mussels!

So I heard the steak was really dope. Went here with my dad because he loves steak but hadn't had a good one since the stroke. I've never had a worse piece of meat. I've also never seen my dad cry. And he did tonigh. After the steak. Not tears of happiness. Tears of sorrow and feelings. Feelings that hadn't been revealed since the accident. Good drinks, oysters, and pate.

I never review restaurants on Google, but this was truly one of the worst, most elitist restaurants I ve ever been to. My girlfriend and I went to enjoy some $1 oysters (their Thursday special) and instead of simply telling us that it s only acceptable to get them with a main dish, they passive aggressively stared at us while we ate. The manager made continued rude eye contact with me and the waitress pouring our water stayed close to us our whole meal, clearly ease dropping on our conversation. We felt pressured to buy an overpriced desert that was so small that it wouldn t satisfy a toddler s appetite.

In the end, I m just astounded that I couldn t take my girlfriend out for a special little evening without being passive aggressively ridiculed for being in my 20 s and not make a six figure salary.

Don t waste your time when there are so many better, friendlier restaurants in the city.

The food and service were wonderful! The place was cozy with a bistro-esque feel. Definitely make reservations! The waitress seemed well versed in the wine selection and recommended a bottle that we both loved.

I had the Parisian style gnocchi and the sauce was awesome with the vegetables. The gnocchi were soft and tasty and paired nice with the goat cheese and pine nuts. My mom had the trout which was silky smooth tasting inside puff pastry. Very warm and comforting. The asparagus was just ok but was seasoned well. For dessert we shared the Marquise aux Chocolat Noir which was also very smooth and decadent with a really tasty sauce.

Would definitely go back to try some other things on the menu.

My husband and I have been neighbors and patrons of this wonderful restaurant since May 4th, 1998, our 1st wedding anniversary! Over the years, the wonderful people, delicious food and perfect ambiance have always provided us with great comfort and joy. We miss seeing Jean-Claude, the owner, but his spirit will forever live on in this very special place!!

Le Bouchon has the coziness of a French Cheers -- minus the round bar -- but with what would most certainly be much better food and drink. I have eaten in Bouchons in Lyon and had Cassoulet in Toulouse and can say that food is as good if not better than what you'll find in France. You won't necessarily find the latest culinary trends here and that's OK. They stick to what they do very well, and that is traditional French food and drink and, on half-price wine Wednesdays, lots of merriment. One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago.

Why travel to France when you can experience France in your backyard? The ambiance is very cozy... ideal for a date night. The space is a bit crowded but it adds to the ambiance of a bustling neighborhood restaurant. The French onion soup was good and the bouillabaisse was a bit salty. I would revisit to try the duck.

Consistently great. I love Le Bouchon for lunch because it feels just like a small French bistro in terms of quality and warm service. Bottles of wine are half price on Mondays which is a great value given their quality selection. The French onion soup is second to none. Their salads are perfectly portioned and delicious. For a bigger appetite, their double patty bigger is sure to please. This is a neighborhood treasure people drive in to enjoy. Steak frites is a must try as well.

Be prepared to wait even with a reservation. The food is worth the wait. The service is very french, lets put it this way hospitality is not their strong suit...let's face it is about the food. This resturant is very small with maybe 20 tables. So, it feels a bit tight. I would definitely go back but now I know what I'm in for, and Ill be prepared to wait as well as deal with a salty server.

Friday evening, June 26 we ordered dinner from Le Bouchon's special menu and picked it up curbside. That was the beginning of an amazing dinner. As we unpacked our dinner, we appreciated how thoughtfully and well it was packed. Brilliant approach to handling the soft boiled egg that topped and wonderful Salade Lyonnaise! Then came the amazing chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. The divine chocolate marquise - with the accoutrements packed separately topped off the meal. We truly felt like we had dined out! Thank you Le Bouchon for a spectacular and delicious dinner. Bravo! And, soon we expect to be actually dining in regularly. Just a great job!
