This park is surreal. A hike through the desert forrest is unforgettable. I highly recommend it for visitors to Arizona and Tuscon. We went in late February, and the temperature was perfect: mid seventies (in Farenheit, mid twenties in Celsius). Gorgeous views, well marked trails and friendly park rangers topped the scenery. The park is highly accessible - there are hikes for all fitness levels. People with restricted mobility could view scenic lookouts from vehicle accessible locations. Hikes range in length from a 1-6 hours. Be sure to pack lots of water and sunscreen and lip chap. Bring your own water bottles, the visitor centers do not sell water in single use containers, they only sell reusable water bottles. However, there are fountains to fill your bottles at the visitor centers.

The desert didn't seem like an amazing place, but this is terrible unique and worth the time. There is beauty, there is ugliness. There is desolation and richness. There is life and death. There is a transparency there that is refreshing.

Explore this elegant terrain at all times of the year! The visitor's center had great facilities, a wonderful gift shop, and a great film about the area and the ecosystem. Check out Signal Hill to see petroglyphs (need to go on a dirt road to get here). The ground can be loose and gravelly - I wear hiking boots there in all temperatures. I have been there in all seasons - it's beautiful in every one of them (just bring A LOT of water with you in the summer).

Note: This is a park where visitors can have access even when there's a government shutdown.

This is a compact park with big visual impact. The loop road is a beautiful drive with ample pull-outs and photo-ops. The visitor center is well done and the store is well stocked with your standard souvenirs and local contributions. This park is great for a day trip (lots of hiking opportunities) and also good if you re just driving through on a road trip.

Coming from Germany and visiting the western part of the Saguaro National Park for the first time, I am deeply impressed by the diversity of nature, especially the giant saguaro cacti, which are abundant in the Sonoran Desert in the southern Arizona section and in the northern part of Mexico, and only there, happen. Thank God I did not meet any Gila monster or rattlesnake on the tour. The park is really beautiful and I highly recommend anyone to come here to see and be amazed.

Very special to see these cacti, the visitor center is also a beautiful building. You can also buy nice gifts. Important that you are there early in the morning or late in the day, it gets very hot!

I've visited Saguaro National Park a number of times. Its a unique wonderful place to hike and the cacti are magnificent. If one is in Tucson its so incredibly accessible. Somewhat more used to spending time in the East Park than the West Park...but the scenery and cacti in both are breathtaking. The cacti are a wonder of nature.

(seeing somebody I follow having written a review here, spurred me to add one. ;).). But when in Tucson this is a worthwhile visit and one you can do multiple times.

Beautiful national park with lots of cacti, jackrabbit and other wildlife.

Has a number of hiking trails that run through the park, as well as a driving loop. Be aware that none of the trails leave from the visitor center so you'll need to drive or hike about a mile.

If it's wet out water might be running at Lime Falls, which is definitely worth the half mile detour off the main trail.

I really should have stayed here longer but I was there just to get my national park pass. It would have been cool to see all they have to offer. I did get some souvenirs that my child loved.

So beautiful and a great way to experience the desert in a way that is great for kids. You can also opt to take a more difficult hike if you are more experienced. Great way to educate people about where we live.

If you're anywhere in the vicinity of Tucson, Saguaro National Park is worth a stop. There is an east and west side and Tucson is smack dab in the middle, 30 minutes to either side. We visited the west park and at the recommendation of the ranger in the visitor center, we hiked the Sendero Esperanza Trail which turns into the Hugh Norris Trail and eventually meets up with the King Canyon Trail. We hiked in November on a cloudy overcast day, but still needed plenty of water. We had a picnic lunch close by in the same area where the petroglyphs are located. Beautiful hike that's great for beginners. Visitor Center was a great place to stop for info - they were very helpful and friendly.

Great place to see the magic of the Sonoran Desert. Both the East and West location have their own magic. Go for a drive, hike or even a bike ride and enjoy this beautiful treasure and all the wild life that abounds.

This is one of the very unique locations in Arizona. If you are too lazy to hike, there is a 17 mile drive which leads you to several View points. We drove through the park and stopped for the View points.

As a crack of dawn hiker, I typically beat the rush of late morning hikers.....love the easy trails that are easy to navigate. Lots of trails keep me coming back for a new experience every time....end of Broadway or end of Speedway...both great options for some beautiful views and wildlife sights.

Nothing says Home to me like the stately Saguaro cactus, and Saguaro National Park has a beautiful and dense population of them. Rolling desert foothills host a sea of creosote and sage brushes that permeate the air with the most wonderful aroma. Hundreds of Saguaros rise from the ground as sculptures of the Sonoran Desert, and the myriad of prickly pear, barrel cacti, and other native plants keep the eyes and sense moving. The pagodas offer shady picnic tables, perfect for enjoying lunch at, and the driveways that wind through the park let your mind get lost in the stark beauty of the desert. Early morning and late afternoon are the most striking times to visit as the long shadows exemplify the clean lines of the Saguaros and surrounding foothills. Late spring is when the Saguaros offer up their lovely white blooms capping their heads and arms.

One of the best experiences I had in my travels in the region was the visit to the park. The visitor center has interesting presentations that open your eyes to see this ecosystem under a different ight. If you are planning to have a picnic, make sure to bring wide umbrellas
