Came to my house to check line of site. Only to find out my town is to far from the receiver. But the coverage maps says We are covered. No one in my town have any coverage from them. So I dont get how they can state that they cover my town. Isn't it fals advertising?

So far so good. Renting a 20mbps fibre line and we are getting a true uncapped, unshaped connection. Just wish the prices were a bit more humane. 100mbps uncapped costs 1100 rand in other cities and im paying 1000 rand for a 20mbps line. Other than the price, we waited about 5 weeks for installation and the connection is good.

After four phone calls requesting an upgrade on my existing contract, I only receive empty promises that the "technical department" will phone me back. Customer service is certainly not important to them. Sad to say, but stay away.

The only reason I'm giving two is because they respond quickly if I have a issue, however. Nothing ever gets fixed. We installed a 100 Mbps line a while back, when the line was tested it reached around 70 - 80 Mbps (which was explained to us that speed is lost when connected through WiFi -that's fine) but a week later and up until now - we are lucky if we get 50 Mbps or 30 Mbps and the line is never constant. I've complained and called them about 9 times and they always sent out a technician timely (and I say thank you for that), but nothing ever got fixed and they can't explain why it loses so much speed. I'm disappointed due to me paying about 800 per month for internet that I am not even receiving. I went into Safricom to look at premium home packages specifically the 35 Mbps package I believe - Only to be told my speeds won't ever be as fast as my current line. If premium home packages give you what you pay for and not lose more than 50 % of its speed then I'm sure the premium package would be faster. I wish for the lines to be fixed, because to be honest the prices they ask aren't too bad either, as long as we get what we pay for that is, then it's value for money, but at the moment I'm feeling ripped off.

Worst service ever. After being very unsatisfied with the service and closing the account more than a year ago, I got a call today about an unpaid account of almost R4k.
Please save yourself loads of future effort and DO NOT use this company for ANYTHING!

Even better... After phoning and being cut off several times and passed from one operator to the next, they finally said there is nobody working at the moment that can assist me (middle of the day in normal business hours).

I called them in Decemeber to get everything going. Never heard from anyone again. In February I started calling them again and again. Always someone that will call you back and never does. Finally got them out to my house after about a month and took about another 3 weeks from signing to get it installed.
Started with a smaller 5MB wireless connection, but requested and upgrade after 2 weeks to a 200Gb@10MB and there after Uncapped at 8MB.
The fastest connection I have had was 5MB. Averages around 1 to 3MB download and less than 1MB upload.
Every no and again it completely goes down and I have to reset everything on my side, hoping that it will work.
Told the technical guys there that I had intermittent connection and they simply said there is nothing wrong. After two days one of the more senior guys called and apologized to me, as they noticed that it was true. But, still no improvement in the speed.
Writing this review and also sending them various speed tests with some strong words with a little hope of improvement.

They never answer a phone call. Surely they can also give after hour service as most people only get home after 5 to find the internet down and offcourse Safricom is closed by this time. This is not how u grow a company to compete with other internet service providers.

No internet for a week and called the day the problem started. Was told they were busy which was understandable after a storm. Called again 4 days later so someone can tell me I never lodged a querie and no work card was opened.
Pathetic service and will be moving to another service provider at month end.

Very bad service. Do not sign a debit order with these people, they deduct huge sums and refuse to reverse the transaction. All you'll get is a credit note and many more deductions. Installation is free as per the contract but they charged R3400 and it's still not working properly. Save yourself the misery, rather try Telkom or Jenny's internet in Potchefstroom.

I make use of prepaid Safricom tokens for my wireless internet connection and I have found this service to be the cheapest option in town if you don't need fast internet - particularly if you don't want to be stuck with a contract.

However, this service is quite vulnerable to under-performing or just being offline at stages. I often only get half of the bandwidth only a day after purchasing a 30 day token and only using less than 2GB data. In the past 2-3months problems have ranged from 30day tokens deactivating completely within 48 hours, halved bandwidth while within fair-usage, frequent disconnections without apparent reason and lack of signal to the hotspot (although the tower is just 10-15 meters from my flat).

The customer feedback varies widely in my experience. Walk-in experiences for remedying smaller issues have been largely efficient and the staff were always friendly. Getting on-site support from technicians is not the fastest - as I had to wait for nearly a month in the beginning of 2020 to get the hotspot fixed after the December holiday. Online customer feedback ranges from decent to lackluster, but there have been occasions when my messages were not answered until I sent a follow-up request.

Maybe it's just a case of "you get what you pay for" and my R100 - R200/month is not worth their time. I personally know of people who have fiber contracts with Safricom and are quite satisfied, but judging by the comment section there are a number of dissatisfied clients paying much more than me.

Safricom's management is defunctive of poor quality, when a minor error has to be restored, it will take a minimum of three weeks for them to send someone out. In addition to calling you, they will always turn you over to a new person to talk to and when you ask to be taken to management, they are on a "lunch break" no matter what time of the day.

Take note that most of the bad reviews here are for the Safricom hotspots installed around Potchefstroom, and not for dedicated lines. I subscribed to a fibre line from Safricom. The sales and installation were very quick (within a week) and I was initially very impressed with the connection speed, which was, on the install date, exactly what I signed up for. I have now been with Safricom with a couple of months. The Internet speed is not blazing fast, but the connection seems to be somewhat reliable. I have had one outage which lasted for about 15 minutes and some occasional (further) drops in speed, but nothing very serious so far. I shall leave the review at three stars for now.

Update. Safricom is damn useless now. After cancellation of a contract because of moving, they still think we're responsible for the contract

Literally useless. Every second month or so my wifi speed drops to around anything below 0.5Mbps, sometimes even reaching 0.01Mbps. When contacted about this problem they "open a work ticket" for you. Which basically means "We will sort it out for you in a month, maybe two if you are lucky". They might be the cheapest, but wouldn't recommend them to ANYONE who wants constant internet and good customer service.

Had a few poor ISP in my day's
But Safricom takes the Cake by far.
We are paying over the R700 for a 10Mbps line but in three weeks it never whent over 1.5Mbps.
Also did we log the problem with the staff but nothing is done about it.
A fibre line was also promised but still we are waiting.

A 1 star rating for this company is not even near the standards and i wish that Google could provide a 0 rating.

They've confirmed at least 2 times that they will do this today... but no technician to be found up to now (it's 13h30)... Promised to phone me back, but that was one hour ago. Safricom just don't have the will or desire to deliver an excellent service, or even any service for that matter.

Internet cuts off, at the least, 2 times per month, followed by me calling in, technician verifying the connection is off, and resetting it. (this is where I would recommend automation, because... It's the 21st century)

The best part is they keep sending technicians to my place to set a few settings but the problem is not on my router it is the hight site. It feels like they just there for the money but customer service means jack to them. Really guys you give Eskom and telkom a great name

I closed my account last year in December 2018 because I moved away. I arranged that the next tenant can take over the account and the usage of the router to be transferred to him, but I think the tenant later upgraded to fibre and nobody thought to collect the router when he upgraded. Now in October 2019, almost a year later, I get a call from debt collectors saying that I owe Safricom money because I never gave back the router. After that I had to phone Safricom and tell them the story that THEY neglected to collect the router. Now I am being harassed by consultants phoning me to arrange a date for collection while I am not living there anymore, and after I told the first person I spoke to that they should contact the new tenant and I even gave them the contact number for the new tenant. Later, they contacted the new tenant and wanted to remove not only the router but also the fibre he paid for. I am yet to come across a company that is this incompetent.

What a waste of Internet Provider. As a resident of Waterberry Heights you are obliged to use SAFRICOM as Internet Provider. First I needed to wait 2 months to get the internet active, although I had to pay monthly subscription fees, then they charge me through COVID monthly usage fee without any data being used. Out of 31 days in August, there was only 9 days Internet access available the rest I had to buy extra data. Equipment was removed from the flat 27 August 2020, the still charge me for September for Fiber usage, although I didn t had any equipment. If you logg a fault it take days to get it fixed. 1. I have CONSTANT downtime

2. It takes 4-8 days for them to respond to a ticket (meaning if you are a business, you will sit without Internet for that time)

3. When upgrading or downgrading, either of the following happens: they register you on a different package than what you subscribed for OR they don't upgrade / downgrade you at all even though you paid.

4. Checking data balance is such a hassle

5. You have to RENT a router from them. So you must add R150 - R200 to your data package. Of you think your data will cost R500, it'll actually cost R650

6. They shape you SO hard on uncapped packages

7. You cannot choose your line speed / data. The more data you want, they faster your line becomes. (Meaning if you want a 10mbps line with 200gb data, no can do, you MUST take the 250gb data with a 100mbps line which is obviously expensive)

They say I am on fibre, yet I am connected to a satellite. How does that work?

If you enjoy getting connection problems and love slow internet speeds, these guys are just perfect for the job. Just use someone else. Anyone else would be much better than these guys. 10Mbit/s (1Mb/s) connection yet my speed barely breaches the 200Kb/s range. Web pages take minutes to load.

Wish I could give less than 1 star and that truly never happens. As with everything I don't expect the internet to be at 100% all the time but I experience a lot of down time and times that my internet speed just drops. Out of all things the internet speed and reliability is not the worst, try communicating with them... Or just don't because they don't know how email works or don't have the common sense to think about the fact that someone might be working. I started a help ticket about 1 month ago but have not received any direct feedback on any of my requests nor have they tried to make an appointment when i'm available. They just keep booking times i'm at work and they have this **** tenancy to call you on Sunday mornings...

Constant problems with the phone going offline and no calls can be made or received. When we notify them of the problem they say they'll put it through their process. The process takes several days. Which means during that time... Our company loses money.

A technician came to install my WiFi more than two weeks ago, but couldn't finish the installation due to rain. I have tried to get them to come and finish the installation by means of more than 7 phone calls.

Finally scheduled an appointment today (2 weeks later), but they didn't show up. I didn't want to leave my home and then have to go through the whole process again, so I called them after 4 hours of waiting. Lady on the phone promised that she's sending someone to urgently finish the installation. Waited another 3 hours, not being able to leave my house, and still no installation.

This company has no integrity. Seems they have too much customers demanding services at the moment. Safricom, please be transparent about your inability to deliver a service to such a large market. At least this way you'll have your customers' respect and possibly earn their patience. Until then, you have ruined your corporate reputation under most of your clients.

Some of their packages aren't that expensive and it is nice when the internet works. But my problem is that when there is a problem and we don't have internet their service sucks! They can take weeks to come and fix the problem. I pay for a 30Mbs line but never get more than 20Mbs. The average is at about 15Mbs. If you call them about it they just say that there isn't anything they can do. Then why must I pay for 30Mbs if I can never get it?

Connection speeds are absolutely abysmal. They frequently go offline entirely - and usually when you need the Internet most. When someone eventually answers the phone after easily 10 unanswered calls, you deal with the most sullen attitude imaginable from whoever answers the phone that end. Truly...one of the absolute worst companies I ve ever had to deal with for a plethora of reasons. Not one positive thing I can say about Safricom.
