Saw The Nutcracker in Lilian Baylis theatre. The kids all loved it. Seats were large and comfortable. The cast were lovely and kids were pleased to get a photo with them at the end. The snow was a lovely part. Only downside is the seating is unallocated which results in messy and unpleasant queue outside the theatre door which gets in the way of everyone trying to use the cafe.

Rather small, but cosy theater for plays (I assume) and ballet performances (I know). We were there to enjoy a spectacular Swan Lake performance (Matthew Bourne...).

Highly recommended...

This is a great place to see all sorts of dance.
Just one issue. The seats in the upper circle. I m tall, but not freakishly so. The leg room is completely inadequate. I ended up in quite a bit of pain as my legs were forced up on my toes and still rammed into the seats in front. On top of that the angle of the backs is not right. I think at some stage they have just tried to cram too many seats in, which is understandable, but could do with rethinking as it does impact on your enjoyment as an audience member.

One of my favourite places in London. Great shows, great staff, great all rounder. Usually there for Christmas shows / Breaking convention. Very well put together shows! Keep on the good work!

Incredible modern theatre where we watched the first ever musical drama with the National Traditional Orchestra. Nice bar, various levels. Good screens so you can read lyrics for operas etc. Beautiful interior and they have preserved a well that was found during the building works which you can still see through a glass floor tile.

Smart new-ish (built with lottery funds at the start of the 2000s) dance theatre situated just south of Angel Islington. The seating is very comfortable with good leg room. The theatre hosts performances from a variety of different dance troupes from around the world. Most perform for 4-7 days before being replaced by a new show although almost every Christmas Sadlers Wells hosts a Matthew Bourne production that runs for most of December and January.

A short walk from Angel tube station and easy to locate.
I found the booking staff and theatre staff friendly and happy to help to advise.
Cold Drinks can be bought on all 3 floors. When visited I found the bathrooms clean.

Came to SW for the first time last night. An avid theatre goer iv never made it up to London but I had tickets for Betroffenheit. I chose third row from the stage...central it was the best area for this show.
I found the staff extremely helpful and the venue is fantastic. I shall be heading to London more often. The performance was spectacular and made the whole experience so much better.

First class dance venue. Great sight lines, audio and plenty of legroom. It's not perfect but where is?

Still 5 stars, but it could do with better air conditioning and more seats in the foyer / reception / bar area.

Incidental stuff: great historical theatre posters in the stalls corridor and you can peer through a glass panel down into Sadler's Well.

What an evening! Not one, but two fantastic experiences!!
First a taxi journey from SW London to the Theatre, courtesy of Tom & Iconic Black Cabs! I m not unfamiliar with journeys through London in the early evening, but this was something else. A driver who has skills at reading the Road was a joy even in the jams around Clapham Common and through SE1 between St Thomas & Guy s Hospitals. Weekend drivers and boy-racers alike were not allowed to spoil the journey, praise to Iconic and praise + to Tom!!

Then to Saddlers Wells! A theatre somewhat smaller than many others in the West End, it was filled to bursting, for a performance of Cinderella as reenvisaged by Matthew Bourne. Wonderful dancers, with wry humour such that recorded music, rather than a live orchestra did not detract from the enjoyment.

My guest, who had never previously attended live ballet was equally enthralled!

First time I've visited Sandler's Wells theatre and I liked it: it's factional and well designed with easy access to all facilities like tickets, bar, toilets, etc. My seat was at the Stalls and, having paid for a middle range ticket, I was pleasantly surprised at how well I could see the stage thanks to the ground inclination. Acoustics were also very good. It's a 10 minute walk to nearest underground station, Angel.

Absolutely dreadful service - has a show cancelled without any notification, and 3 weeks later no refund, apology or even communication. by the way I could not publish without entering a star - which i do not feel the service merits

Sadler's Wells truly is a place where dance comes to life: there is no stage in London where such a diverse programme is on offer and where you can find track-suited students next to be-juweled ladies. There is a real effort to offer sufficient lower-priced tickets and Sadler's ensures that there are performances for literally anyone: classical ballet, modern dance, hip-hop, experimental, tango, circus: you name it. I have seen anything from Wayne McGregor and Cedar lake, to Matthew Bourne, to Pina Bausch, to Rambert, to...you name it here, and it is always a pleasure. Not unimportant: relatively comfortable seats and leg space.

I went to the Lillian Baylis Theatre at Sadlers Wells. It has family shows and the ballet I saw was a fifty-minute version of Sleeping Beauty. The place was full. Suddenly all the children who had been running around the cafe yelling and rolling around were sitting quietly waiting for the show to begin. I love how the little girls come in dress-up!
The stage was simple. A curtain, a couch, a chandelier overhead, and that s it. Someone came on to the stage to show us some sign language the dancers would use that would help us understand the story. She lost me half way through!
Fifty minutes is long enough for me when it comes to pretty much anything on stage but the dancing was beautiful, the colours gorgeous and the story compelling. I always feel astonishing at the leaps and movements the dancers make without a whispered sound from their feet as they land. I need that secret! The dancer playing the witch was really good, a great actor, and very believably wicked. Tchaikovsky s music is gorgeous, I d forgotten how gorgeous. At the end of the show children were offered an opportunity to have their photo taken with the cast so Juliet and I took our own opportunity to take a few photos.

Sadlers Wells is a brilliant theatre venue in Islington, and this visit was a great opportunity to view a fantastic adaption of Carmen. The venue is air-conditioned which in a heatwave is a welcome comfort. The staff were brilliant and I can't recommend the theatre enough for a visit. It's really great value compared to the West End!
