What an evening! Not one, but two fantastic experiences!!
First a taxi journey from SW London to the Theatre, courtesy of Tom & Iconic Black Cabs! I m not unfamiliar with journeys through London in the early evening, but this was something else. A driver who has skills at reading the Road was a joy even in the jams around Clapham Common and through SE1 between St Thomas & Guy s Hospitals. Weekend drivers and boy-racers alike were not allowed to spoil the journey, praise to Iconic and praise + to Tom!!
Then to Saddlers Wells! A theatre somewhat smaller than many others in the West End, it was filled to bursting, for a performance of Cinderella as reenvisaged by Matthew Bourne. Wonderful dancers, with wry humour such that recorded music, rather than a live orchestra did not detract from the enjoyment.
My guest, who had never previously attended live ballet was equally enthralled!
