Ruth's Chris Steak House Review

The food was mediocre. The steak lacked seasoning and was overcooked. The worst part was the service. Barely greeted by the hostess who walked away as we walked up. Then we thought we would have great service as our waiter Steven was talking. Unfortunately the good service ended there as we sat and waited literally over an hour between finishing our meal and being served dessert. The chocolate tort was delicious but none of this was worth the money or our time. Very inconsiderate and inattentive server.

My wife and I have been to many Ruth's Chris across the country and this was the worst experience the two of us have had at one. Considering that New Orleans is Ruth's home city we were expecting more. In thier defence, we did go right after a Saint's game at about 9:30 pm so this may have had something to do with the experience.

When we arrived the hostess was very distracted and really didn't seem interested in seating us. She informed us there was an approx 30 minute wait and offerd for us to sit at an open high top in the bar area. We accepted and found that there was only one chair at that table. I seated my wife and then had to retrieve a chair from across the room. The bread and water girl basically threw items on the table as she passed by with an audible thud and had the look that she would really rather not be there. The waiter was ok, and the steaks were good. I am giving one star because Ruth's Chris should be so much better.

My husband and I chose this restaurant when we were in town to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It s one of so many restaurants in NOLA, but this chain is one that has special significance for my husband and I. I don t think I have words adequate enough to express how pleased and delighted we were with our experience here.

I made the reservation thru google/open table, and when doing so I mentioned that it was our 25th and we wanted a quiet out-of-the-way table. When we arrived we were greeted by a very welcoming staff and bartender. Our table was ready before our reservation time, and was sprinkled with confetti hearts and happy anniversary down the center. It was tasteful and lovely! Our server, Steven, was the ABSOLUTE BEST... very understanding and respectful when we told him we were in no rush and wanted to thoroughly enjoy each course before moving on to the next. He was very knowledgeable with the wines and made excellent recommendations. He was thorough, and very attentive, but not overbearing so as to be a nuisance. He went above and beyond to make us feel so very special on such a milestone of a celebration... and we are so grateful!

Lastly, the steaks we ordered were cooked to perfection. We could literally cut them with our forks. By the way, I highly recommend the Brussel Sprouts. So, sooo good! Thank you Ruth Chris if NOLA, and our server Steven... you helped make this anniversary one for the books! :-)

It was okay, the crab cakes were smaller than the ones in metairie, the soup was cold, but the stuff mushrooms were very good.

The food is delicious I had the sweet potatoe casserole OMG good n crab cakes n stuffed mushrooms were perfectO!!!!!! Just a bit pricey for my pocket but good food.

This is a favorite dining place of mine.....but the service was not good at all this visit. It started when we asked the hostess nicely for another table and her expression told everything! It was downhill from that point. The waiter did not attend the table. He offered to refill a glass that was full of melted ice instead of replacing with a fresh one; I watched 3 tables that arrived after us that were served by the same waiter and gone before we got our food; when we finally got our food after waiting an hour or more....the lobster mac was obviously re-heated in the microwave because it was dried out; another guest at our table potatoes were lacking..;etc, etc. The constellation was the manager did her best with damage control. That waiter need to be retrained or find another line of work! Oh by the way, I'm still waiting on the bread to arrive at the table! You don't get tips that way....

Shared an entree and a bottle of wine with my wife; it was a very enjoyable evening.

Excellent food and drinks. Good wine list and great servers.

Had dinner at Ruth Chis in Harrah's New Orleans last night and I was completely disappointed. I have previously praised Ruth Chris in San Francisco where I had the best steak ever. The server was delightful but the steak was mediocre at best. The first steak (which was ordered at medium rare) had to be returned because it was overdone. The steak a 12 oz steak was replaced but lacked flavor. Again, I want to emphasize that the staff was exceptional , just not the food.

Great steak once again , it was nice to eat in the rebuilt original Ruth Chris Steak House, as usually the staff was great and all food was delicious

I was a major Ruth's fan but lately the food and service is average at best. The days of this Steak House Chain being the best of the best are over. There are countless steak houses in the NOLA area that are just better......... on every level of service and food quality....... If u want an average steak with high $$$$$$ go to Ruths....

Understand it was Christmas Eve and we've (party of 10) eaten here before for past Christmas eves and every time it was very busy.
With that said, they should be aware of the situation but instead after the initial order for drinks and appetizers came in a reasonable time, the main course was a long wait, 30mins? After finally arriving others at the table were satisfied with their entrees, but my tomahawk ribeye had too much fat and gristle, served not hot and tasted no better than a cheap steak.
I don't mind spending money but I must say this was the WORST $125 ($140 w/tip, lower than 20% because of the service and meal) meal I've ever had. Plus because of the slow service, we made sure noone even ordered coffee much less dessert so we could finally get out of there.

The food just melts in your mouth!! Service is excellent. Everyone working there seems to truly enjoy their job. I had a beautiful time, I hope the same for you!!

We were looking for a nice casual steakhouse and this placed delivered!

This NOL A location is great. The service was great, a little on the slow side, but then again, for the price you'll pay at the end, why rush? The food tastes better here than at any other RC that I've been to, and I been to them all over, including Maui.

Last night's meal was not very good. Waiter tried to serve other tables food to our table. He forgot our calamari. Had to ask others for it as he was to busy someplace else. When the calamari did come it was bad, like eating rubber bands. Then came the main coarse, 1 steak was over cooked, the baked potaoes looked like they were saved from the day before, I sure as heck would not have served them to a dog. All in all the service and meal was kinda poor and makes one think there are way to many good options in NOLA for a better dinner experience. Gonna go to GW Finn tonight, never a bad meal there.

I'm a pescatarian but I go to Ruth's Chris for their crab cakes and their calamari is the best in the city

Pretty much they are at the top of the ladder when it comes to food and service. You get what you pay for...

Celebrated my graduation here and everything was excellent. I inhaled the 16 oz ribeye (rare, cooked perfectly) and the house G&T. Our server Peter was helpful, friendly, and made our day even brighter and more special. Thanks Peter!

Atmosphere and service was great. Server never asked how the steak was. Of the 4 in our group only my steak was undercooked.. but by a lot and the server was rarely checking on us. Sometimes that's good or bad. Wasn't great when the food wasn't as expected. French onion soup was really good.

Worst service I ever received from ruth chris I'm from georgia and since I heard that ruth chris was from Louisiana I've been waiting for 3 months to go and eat to only take my food upstairs to harrahs hotel and was told early to just come in and order and we can carry out we got there and was told we had to go to bar order and then package our on food didnt really understand what was the difference than me carry it out my steak and my wife order medium well steaks were bleeding sent ot back to the kitchen came out the same way didn't get to eat a steak on father's day very disappointed and will never go back there again sorry the manager drop the ball on my visit to even make it right

The steaks are excellent and even the appetizers and sides are great

The waiter was professional, personal and helpful. His presence added just the right ingredient to great food and a great atmosphere.

In November I took my father to lunch at the metairie location, the food and the service was outstanding.
On December 30 , I invited my husband to the Fulton location food was cold and service was a D- very disappointed;

i made a reservation for my bestfriends birthday for 6:30. arrive 10 mins before n am told they cant accommodate us and that we have to wait til 7. we wait (however impatiently because we were starving) i go back at 7:03 and she still tells me theres half hr wait. then i actually see someone come in, say they had a reservation, she didnt look at the computer but grabs a couple of menues and leads them into the restaurant i was upset and embarrassed. we left feeling like our celebration wasnt important here. i will not be returning

The people on the phone told me we can t make reservations on the phone for the outside then when I got to the restaurant they told me it was booked up

We had a great time sitting at the bar during happy hour. The drinks, appetizers, and steaks were all perfect!

The bar area is very loud after business hours, but the service and meal are exceptional.

I really enjoyed my night with Steven Gros. He is the best server ever! I will definitely be back.

I was invited to Ruth Chris on 3/27/19 to participate in a networking lunch. Thankfully, the lunch was hosted by Ruth Chris and I didn't have to pay for my steak. I enjoyed my conversation, made a two business contacts, and had a perfectly cooked rare steak with some broiled shrimp. I appreciated receiving a cup of Louisiana Gumbo and a (small) dessert because I was so full at the end of the luncheon. My service was excellent, but can you please hide some ginger beer for me?

Good steak and awesome service. It was a tad cold where I was seated unfortunately but everything else was fine.

Service is standard, the steak is okay. Apps and sides are better than the entries imo, for the price you can get better steaks else where.

Reservations at 7:30 PM and was still waiting on steaks at 8:40. Wrong side item was served and never corrected...Ordered potatoes was served creamed spinach.Asked for dessert to go and realized when I got to the room there was no plastic utensils. First and last time at Ruth Chris.
