Ruth's Chris is always a wonderful visit. From the steaks to the side dishes, appetizers and desserts, they always live up to their name for great food and great service. The steaks are tasty, yet simply seasoned (butter salt and pepper are all that is needed for these great cuts of meat).

Last month, I was with my lab team in a conference, and we decided to eat in this steakhouse based on our previous experience with their name, unfortunately it was booked till the end of that night...my 4 years old daughter was with me, and it was late for her (8:00pm) by that time she was starving and she wanted anything to eat! so while we were waiting and deciding where to go next...I asked for takeaway some bread for my daughter to calm her....I was very impressed from their fast service...and they even didn't charge me at all for it and packed it very nicely for her.

By the way this is my first time that I write any review for a restaurant that doesn t need any extra star :) but I planned to do because they made a smile on the face of my little poor thing!

This place is becomming too crowded. Had to wait 45 minutes for a table after our reservation time. And the full size filet had a large amount of fat on it. Too busy is resulting in too careless.

mself and only did so upon coming out to tend to the table in front of us. I m a lover of seafood, so at the table I m front of me (waiting long periods of time for waiter to tend to us we had time to scoop every plate outside) I asked the waiter what a certain dish was on their table. Instead of telling me the dish he states,

Ruth's Chris stepped in to provide superb service for a large group of family and friends on Thanksgiving. Although they were packed and very busy they treated us as if we had come home for dinner on this holiday. The menu incorporated variety yet tradition in their unique style of fresh, deliciously delectable food. They staff served us with care and efficiency expected only in New Orleans. And every guest received a special signed note with a Thanksgiving goody bag to take home from the Chef to ensure customers didn't miss the experuence of taking Thanksgiving leftovers home! They earned rave reviews from this group. Thanks Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for a new tradition and great memories!

The hostess (Sherry) has a very negative attitude and rude behavior. I arrived to the restaurant waiting 5 minutes for her to pay attention and then telling me go and seat in the bar!!
I told her but I am here for lunch and I want to have a table!
She roled her eyes and said, you can have lunch in the bar! what is your name! Spell it for me! ( with a very rude attitude and tone).
I said my name and just walked a little backwards, she rolled her eyes again and said you should stay where you are to be seated!!!
It took her another 5 min to seat me on a table.
I sat for 10 min and no waitress came to the table!

I was really late for the airport and had no option to go to somewhere else! Otherwise, would not step in to this restaurant with the rude attitude of such a person at the enterence of the restaurant.

Excellent front and back house staff. I had the petite filet, 8 oz; Curtis had a 16 Oz bone in filet. They were both cooked to perfection and the meat just melts in your mouth. Perfection! Spicy shrimp, creamed spinach and lobster mac n cheese. OMG. Took all the remainder to Andrew. He can eat or give to the dogs. Max would be in Heaven. Ruth's Chris you never disappoint! We will be back soon. Dickie Brennan's steakhouse used to be my favorite but Ruth's Chris wins this time.

Being a city that relies on tourism the way New Orleans does, it's easy to become disappointed when you go for an experience and walk away with empty pockets and no fond memories to keep you warm. Bustling shops and restaurants abound in the area and most go out of their way to make you feel at home. Our experience at Ruth's Chris steakhouse was crowded, (almost seemed elbow to elbow with adjacent tables), and loud with service that was inattentive. While I can expect these things from most places we visited, I didn't expect it from a restaurant that serves $50 steaks billed as prime, (ordered medium ribeye and got one charred- not seared and well done), but need to be knived and gnawed. I didn't particularly appreciate the waiter's attitude when I returned my food either. There was no way I was going to reorder and agonize through another long wait or deal with the server again if I wasn't pleased. I decided to sit with my wife while she enjoyed her meal and she appreciated my patience with both her and waiter. If you're looking for good hot food that warms your soul, personal service and a jingle in your pocket, go to Mom's down the street.

Despite the New Orleans restaurant being busy, due to the holiday weekend and Decadence Festival, our server Renee Smith was attentive and served us in a timely manner. We appreciated her courtesy and professionalism with making our dinner enjoyable.

Worst one I have been to. Slow service, reservation was 7:45 didn't get seated until 8:15, waited an hour for food after we ordered, Waiter didn't bring glasses for the beer, potatoes were not cooked all the way through, place is really loud. All in all not worth the money at this location.

My husband and I ate here on Monday evening around 6pm. We did not have reservations. The service we received was excellent. The crab cakes were full of delicious, moist, crab surrounded with this lemony butter sauce on a sizzling plate - loved them! The chopped salad tasted fresh. The filet mignon and two lobster tail chef's special, also served on a sizzling plate were the bomb! The steak was cooked to perfection. I would have liked a little more seasoning; garlic. The lobster tails were meaty not rubbery and cooked perfectly. The creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes were delicious. The only bad thing I noticed was the smell. I know I have one of those freakish noses, that can smell something a mile away. Nonetheless, I smelled a sight vomit smell. Maybe, it was the leather or wood, let's say it was..(Our table for two was located a few steps from the bar to the right in a little room with a large, round, table beside us.) However, I am so glad we tried this place out as we had never eaten at a Ruth's Chris before.

Located in Harrahs Hotel in downtown New Orleans this steakhouse has good steaks and sides. Shoestrings served on a huge cone! Salads are very good but the steaks are excellent if a little pricey as you would expect. A salad and a petite filet (8 ounces) make a good meal unless you are really hungry. Great cocktails and a nice wine list. Valet parking (dont forget to get you ticket validated) $10.

Came here for Thanksgiving. I ordered the stuffed baked chicken and it was amazing! The steaks aren t worth the hype in my opinion. Wife ordered one and it was very salty. Our cask iron skillet makes better stakes lol. Other than that great venue! Service was also top notch.

I came here for dinner. It was great. The steak and sides did not disappoint. I got the ribeye with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. It was all delicious. The steak melted in my mouth. It was cooked exactly to my liking. The staff was very attentive and made sure we were enjoying ourselves during our stay. I am definitely coming back again when I am in the mood for a delicious steak. Oh the complimentary bread is also delicious!

Very very long wait just to be disappointed during lunch. My hamburger was bleeding in the middle and cold (asked for well) & my wife's filet on her Cesar salad wasn't even cooked. Had to send back twice to get med well.

Meh. It was alright. The appetizers were fantastic and the servers were as well. I loved the calamari but the potatoes au gratin wasn't as good as it used to be. The $130 tomahawk ribeye wasn't good and not nearly worth the price. I was expecting a great steak but instead it was extremely chewy, it had no flavor, and the outsides were crispy more than normal. I don't even think it was seasoned. The Ruth's Chris in Metarie is great and it was my first time dining at this one but the least to say I won't be coming back. The only thing I really enjoyed was 2/4 of the appetizers we got.
Price for experience: 3/10
Food: 4/10
Service: 8/10

Edit: I just found out the waitress who put our food in boxes didn't put the chips nor sauces in a box even though we asked her too. We didn't eat many since we were full and were hoping to take them home. We don't live in NOLA so we only go there on occasion and the chips are one of our favorite things there and I'm really disappointed the waitress threw them away. So I'm changing my 3 star review to a 2 star. And for a $280 dinner with tip and valet I'm extremely disappointed and won't be visiting again.

allllllllllllllllllllllllllllways great food, the service is good, and the ambiance of being downtown is fabolous, I had the NY strip, medium cooked to perfection, the right amount of butter, salt and pepper, just melts in your mouth. the creamed spinach probably needs some nutmeg but still very good

Worst Christmas dinner yet. We were seated for our reservation over an hour late. They ran out of their 11 ounce fillet, couscous, and makers mark. Our drink orders took over an hour to arrive and they were incorrect. Our server was rude and overworked. We have been coming here for Christmas dinner 8 years in a row. This was our last.

The start of the dinner went very well. We got our drinks and appetizer (Seared Ahi Tuna) was amazing! The bread was so so so good!!! We got the celebration surf and turf and it was phenomenal!!! The side dish: Augratin potatoes was not good at all... It want cooked long enough and it had no flavor. For $11. I expected it to be better
Then after the entrees service was horrible. We waited forever to get our desserts and then we waited like 7 to 10 minutes just to get our change. Overall it was way too overpriced for the food we received. It was my first time going and I was not impressed..

Really just a very good steak. You literally can't lose with the sides, too. Like the creamed spinach and sweet potato casserole are just wonderful. I've heard that they treat their chefs pretty well, too.
