Best 50th birthday dinner ever. Staff so professional and friendly. Mr Salvatore's eye for perfection is spot on. Enjoyed and was very impressed. Thank you so much. I highly recommend this experance. Food was out of this world amazing.

Great food. Great service. We love this restaurant. However, they seem to refuse to have non-fat milk for coffee, tea and cappuccino. This appears to be a minor item but as a Lactose sufferer it spoils the meal. We have asked before on our previous visits, but without success. However, it's still our favorite restaurant.
My steak was cook exactly to order, and I mean I couldn't complain about the temperature if I wanted to. Medium rare on the nose. The price was very high, this was made okay by the excellent front of house service. That waiter was quick, charismatic, and made great recommendations. The prices is worth paying if you value good service and atmosphere, just as much as the beautiful cut of meat that was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I should say I have had a better steak once, and literally only one, in Florida. So this was the second best steak I've ever had, and that impressed me.
Mother's Day dinner with wife and son. All steaks cooked to perfection, sides were wonderful and service very attentive. But then, we really have come to expect nothing less from Russells.
I go here 2 or 3 times a year. The food here never disappoints but surprises me that Russell's was voted the best steakhouse in New York despite all of the high end Michelin star restaurants in NYC. Makes me wonder why Russell's doesn't have any stars of their own. Here's 5 google stars for now haha.
The food was excellent and the service was superb. The prices are pricey but it was worth every dollar. They have 2 for 1 prices on one section of the menu which are easy on the pocket.
I love what Russell Salvatore does for our community and all his generosity. I, however, do not agree with Mr. Salvatore, coming to my table, with his little flashlight and bullying me about how my steak is done, after the third time it was sent back. This is clearly rare NOT medium!! 1st pic is in the restaurant after 3 x sent back and 2nd pic is at a local bar where I had to go and get something to eat because I was still hungry after a $69.00 meal!! This was ordered as a medium porterhouse. This is clearly rare and a t-bone. 3rd pic was when I got home and tried to salvage something!! Did not work but the dogs were happy! The final bill with Russell was $160.00 I should be satisfied!!. Not fuming!! I will say our waiter was great!! Personable and funny.. the only highlight of our evening!!
Great service great food. 5 star service, 4 star food. It was an excellent meal, but despite being famous for steaks locally, their filet couldn't hold a candle to Buffalo Chophouse's.
My Family and I went to Russell's this past Sunday evening to celebrate a few events. We started off at the bar for a few rounds of drinks then proceeded for dinner. There service was impeccable the entire visit. Everyone was very friendly and educated in their product. I have worked in customer service for years and include this entire restaurant in the category of world-class customer service. and the food was absolutely amazing! I could nearly cut my filet with a fork. Hand's down the best place dining experience in Buffalo! I hope to do business with them in the near future!
It was pretty good. My steak was well seasoned seasoned and my wife said the same thing about her chicken. We also didnt receive bread like the other tables which was strange.
My wife and I are in Niagara Falls for our 20th Anniversary. We were looking for a special place for dinner. I saw the ad for Russells and read the reviews. They did not disappoint. We started with the crab and artichoke fondue. Out of this world. We decided on the dinner for 2. It was superb. Good portions of spectacular food. Jared was a delightful waiter and his whole crew of attendants were efficient and fun. Overall a great experience and we will be back
Always...a special place to go ..for just a quality dinner out with your special girl..or just out with freinds or family. The food is the best..the service is the best. And Russell always thare to make YOU AND YOUR FAMILY and friends feel like a SPECIAL guest.. every time ..when u are thare. Try this featured restaurant this weekend... we garentee you a great night out.. or try the weekend packages too.
Simply outstanding!! We had the Artichokes Francaise, stuffed banana peppers, tomato bruschetta bread, Cesar salad, two 14oz fillet mignon steaks and an order of crab legs. Each and every single item was better than the next. Service was beyond outstanding we never had to sit with a dirty plate in front of us and each course came out at the perfect peace.
I used to go to a steak House in Niagara falls about once Month and after trying Russells I will never go back!! This is my new favorite restaurant in the WNY area!!
WENT TO RUSSELL'S FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTER BELLA CASULLO 11TH BIRTHDAY. EVERYTHING WAS OUTSTANDING THE FOOD, EMPLOYEES AND RUSSELL. IT HELPED MAKE HER BDAY VERY SPECIAL. IT WAS WONDERFUL!!
Our server Nick was excellent, the food was also excellent and the accommodations likewise were excellent. I would have given this restaurant a 5 star rating but Russell's choses not to give a military veterans' discount. I thought he was a big supporter of our fighting forces that protect America and its' allies but apparently not to the point of giving a nominal discount as does many area businesses in appreciation to it's military and veterans.
Very few options for vegetarians. If you eat meat I'm sure this place is great, but for a vegetarian or especially vegan there's few options. The few vegetarian options they do have are premade, so I could not ask for certain ingredients to be taken out. Fairly disappointed, I understand it is a steak house but I expected there to be more options for vegetarians than basically a plate full of vegetables
I dined and stayed here on my honeymoon. It became the go-to anniversary spot for the unmatched quality of the food. This was, quite honestly and literally, the only time each year we go on a date (we have two mischievous babies who have frightened away most of the qualified specialists in toddler-wrangling). Despite that, the only way I'd consider eating there now, however is if they offered take out (they do not).
It's worth noting that I was a vegetarian for over a decade before pregnancy required otherwise, so I'm particularly sensitive when consuming meat. I was also sick the night of our anniversary. I decided to order a salad to ensure my freedom from anti-nausea medication. The only option for a salad is evidently not truly viable, but is synonymous with a swear word. My attempt to order it resulted in an offended look from the waiter, who responded in a clearly aggravated tone that, "The ... [cue a grimace and struggle to utter the next word] salad is small, and not a real meal." Never mind the fact I am extremely petite and eat in ratio to my size.
I calmly explained I did not want any meat, at which point the tension climbed to the point where my husband felt the need to intercede.
"She can eat the veggies from my entree." He offered politely. Wrong thing to say.
I'm genuinely surprised the waiter's face didn't turn red from the frustration so clearly heard in his tone. "Just so we're clear," he responded, "there is going to be an additional charge for that".
I wanted to argue that I used to be a waitress and therefore always tip more than twenty percent. I thought to negotiate the price of the alcohol we already ordered as sufficient* compensation for the $20 difference in exchange for his calming down and excusing my audacity to order what I felt like. But my husband knew what I was thinking. I could feel the sweat about to start beading on his forehead at the idea of this confrontation.
Screw it, I thought. It's our anniversary and we're already spending nearly $300 tonight anyway. Why embarrass my husband over a silly meal? I asked one last time if there were any vegetable entrees, to which the waiter parried with a non-answer insinuating there was not (truly, he ought to be a politician). And then I said the words I would regret for the next 48 hours. "I'll take the Ahi Tuna then..."
Suffice it to say, you know your own appetite better than a pretentious waiter. After paying so much, I felt obligated to try a few bites of the fish that had been the source of such controversy for our waiter. This did nothing for my state of illness and I realize now it was foolish to force myself to eat something I didn't want to. To be clear, I absolutely blame my pre-existing condition rather than the quality of the food. What I myself am not clear on is whether I blame myself more or the waiter who, after my requesting any non-meat option multiple times, failed to provide or even acknowledge the existence of the ever elusive "vegetarian menu". Note: Russell's does offer this option according to their website.
The next day before checking out I filled out the comment card providing as much detail of the situation as I could, but I suppose I'll never know what became of that. I do know however, that I could not eat there again after feeling so belittled. I don't recall what we tipped, but I hope my husband did so accurately and according to the service received.
One silver lining in this, is that as a mid-20 something couple crippled by daycare for two tiny humans and student loans greater than some people's mortgages, we will now be saving a few hundred a year come our anniversary. That by itself is something to celebrate.
*Truth be told, with a 6'2" husband who can eat his weight, the alcohol ordered far out-weighed the $20 difference we were haggled over. It's also interesting that that difference translates to a $4 contribution to a tip of 20%. On a bill as high as ours, the potential of missing that tip was marginal compared to how much the waiter actually missed due to his service.
Russell s used to be one of our favorite restaurants, and now we will probably never go back. We arrived promptly at 8pm for our reservation, and were told there would be a 20 minute wait. We took our pager and went to sit at a table in the lobby, where other customers were also waiting for their tables, since the bar was crowded and there wasn t a place to sit there. 20 minutes passed, then 30, then by 8:45 we went to go check with the host. We were told they tried paging us over and over and looked for us in the bar. We were sitting maybe 10 feet from the bar and never heard our name called. Our pager never buzzed and the light was on, so I m not sure how we were supposed to know that the pager wasn t working. They also had my phone number from the reservation and did not try calling me. Also, if they couldn t find us in the bar, why did they stop looking? Why not look in the lobby where plenty of other people were waiting? When we told the manager, Jay, that we were upset we waited so long for our table, when I made the reservation at least a week in advance, and it didn t seem like much effort was made to find us, he made a whole list of excuses and did not take any responsibility. He made us feel like it was somehow our fault, and clearly didn t care that we had waited for almost an hour for our table, unnecessarily. I was shocked when he gave us a $25 gift certificate for a future dinner, but we were not allowed to use it that night. We told him this had nothing to do with money, we just wanted them to acknowledge that they did something wrong and that they would take steps to correct the issue so that this wouldn t happen to someone else in the future. But that didn t happen. The waiter also had a chance to improve our experience, but he was unfriendly, and maybe only spoke 4 words to us the entire meal. Usually the waiters ask if you re celebrating a special occasion, but he didn t. I listed in the reservation that we were celebrating my birthday, and told the manager as well that it was my birthday, but didn t get a candle or happy birthday with my dessert. For such a high end restaurant I expect more from the service and the management. But mostly I blame the manager for not having the maturity to handle the situation properly.
I really can't say anything other than it is exactly what you should expect from a place like this and a man like Russell. Of course you can expect to see the man there on the busiest of nights, he still cares. Food was great, not nearly as expensive as many people think. Dinner for two is just a name, any number of people can get it and it's good deal. I don't know the connection Russell has but the steaks are buttery soft and easy to cut. If you've got anything special go there and enjoy!
Had 8 people in our party. Everything was excellent from food, each bit of service (server Roberto, water filler, table cleaners)... appraisers were excellent choices, steak was cooked perfectly, desert was delicious and coffee was even good! Will be back for sure again!
Their food is consistently good. The decor isn t not really my style- seems a bit dated and over the top- in my opinion... but having said that, their food is consistently good- they don t skimp on the cocktails, and the service is always excellent. During a recent visit, my waiter noticed a water spot on my knife-even before I did, he grabbed the knife and brought me a new one. I don t think my water glass ever fell below half way mark- and the food came hot, and the flavor of their salmon was really quite good. Of the restaurants I ve been too of this caliber, it s not the best I ve been too, but it s one worth going to for a special occasion.
I have nothing bad to say about this place and our experiences. Gary was our server this night. Well versed in all thing Russell. Quick to assist with questions and recommendations. The young men who also tended to our table, wish I got their names, were quick and unintrusive as they moved about clearing dishes, making room, and ensuring our water was too the top. Also very pleasant and helpful. Our drinks were delish and food, amazing. Cooked to perfection. Especially for me as I like my beef rare. Ate so much we didn't save room for dessert. We'll need to go back just for dessert some day. Did have a fancy coffee afterwards loaded with 5 liqueurs, topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle, mmmmmm. Its an expensive night out, but we only do this once a year. Have never regretted any moment and you should treat yourself every now and then. Enjoy!
We had an absolutely fabulous dinner! The bisque was excellent and the steak was one of the best I've ever had! But what made the meal was the service. Alan was wonderful and made the meal extraordinary! Very witty and personable, made the meal so enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back and will definitely ask for him to be our waiter.
I travel and dine in many restaurants Russell's is at a level that is just incredible. Everything was delicious and service and presentation was terrific.
Service and food 5 stars. I rated overall as 4 stars due to fact that there were people seated who came in wearing shorts. I thought Mr Salvatore had a strick dress code. There are those of us who when paying for fine dining also want fine atmosphere. I know it's summer although the place is air-conditioned. Dress for fine dining as well.
