Excellent patio and excellent service. Live music throughout the day. Surprised to find a page of cigars available on the menu. Some good options for vegetarians which is not what one expects in black bean obsessed Tempe. Very good selection of taps. Family friendly.

The fish was fantastic but the chips were kinda meh, could've been crispier and less bland... but the fish was dynamite! It wasn't too crowded or that late but the waitress seemed like she just wanted us to hurry up and leave....

Great place with Smithwicks on tap. We came as part of a food tour in Tempe and although I had been told about this place in the past, I'd never made it there. Appetizers they prepared for us were great and the place is really cool. Definite return trip in the near future.

Just went there the other day. Had the Irish lamb stew. It was very good and highly recommended. The atmosphere was excellent as well as the wait staff. If you want some real Irish. Feel food and service. This is the place to go. Being Irish myself. I can tell you you won't find a lot of places around Phoenix as good as Rula Bula. Ray Fitzgerald

The live music was very entertaining and talented. I always love a Smithwick's...my favorite ale, made all the better with a phenomenal bartender who was engaging, charming and conversational!

This authentic Irish Pub has regular live music, and the best fish and chips I've had outside of England. Services friendly and efficient, there's outdoor seating for days when it's cool enough for that kind of thing and it's just a fun experience.

Do you like hip vibes, fancy mixed drinks, and culinary adventures? Don't come here. But if you like Guinness, meat, potatoes, and Ireland come here. There's a great selection of Irish and English beers. The place does get going in the evenings and weekends during the school year.

We looked up Rula Bula because of the Iron Druid Chronicles. Happily surprised that it actually exists, we decided to try it out.

The pub is beautiful, and full of history in its own right.

The host who greeted us was welcoming and attentive.

Had a bit o Tullamore Dew while we waited for our fish and chips.

The fish and chips were the best I've had since my trip to the UK in the 1980s. Light, crispy, flakey fish, and perfectly done chips-- crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

We shared a delicious Apple Crumble for dessert, and had half of it left to take back with us.

Our server (who had a majestic Mohawk) was attentive and personable even though he was at the end of his shift.

We'll definitely return the next time we're in the area.

Great service but beware of the Sheppard's pie right now. I got horrible food poisoning after and have been throwing up all day, great way to ring in my thirtieth birthday. I've had to push all plans to next week

One of Tempe's best. Nothing beats a cold Black & Tan with a side of Sheppards Pie. Wonderful live bands on select Fridays will keep you entertained with the beautiful earthy deco and friendly staff.

Did not have any food items. We just went for some drinks. The food that the servers were serving looked pretty good though. Found a table outside and we're warmed by the outdoor heaters. Would go back again and try some of the fish and chips.

Everything we tasted in this Irish pub and restaurant was absolutely delicious! For lunch we selected the fish and chips, shepherd's pie and potato leek soup. All were flavorful and everything is prepared fresh daily. The pub is conveniently located near Tempe Beach Park, Arizona State University and the base of "A" Mountain on S. Mill Ave. We will definitely be going back!

Our friends took us here for dinner. It was great traditional Irish fare. From the pot pie to the lamb stew to a turkey Reuben everything was delicious. The bar itself is beautiful and has a great story. Stop by, you won t regret it.

In a vacuum, I probably give four stars. But I recently moved from Fargo, where I was a regular at the Blarney Stone pub, and Rula Bula suffers by comparison. The fish and chips was excellent, but the corned beef wasn't up to par.

Sooo, my boyfriend, my son and I just left this place. The hostess was rude. She had to move our table a couple of times because the other tables were reserved. Once we got our table and menus we waited and waited. We got no water, nobody came to check on us. Multiple waiters walked right past us and checked and served other tables. I felt totally uncomfortable sitting there about five mins maybe longer with not even a glass of water. We continued to sit there and wait and I was already feeling not welcomed and ready to go. Everyone in the place was white. We are a black and asian couple and I felt discriminated against. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Yes, I did see the other reviews that mentioned they had terrible service and had to flag someone down. However, I looked the waiter dead in his eye when he walked by us again and he looked right at me and continued ignoring us. He didn't stop and we got no service. We left because I'm not about to sit there a feel uncomfortable with my with my family. Try the other Irish place down the way Their service and people were way better.

Good food, great portions. Nice selection of Irish, English and Scottish ales, beers and ciders.

If you're a dyed in the wool Irish food fanatic, you'll find this place better than most claiming to be Irish, but not quite the 100% deal. But close enough for the other 99%.

First time to visit Rula Bulaga. The music and the decor were great. I has a Black and Tan and the "Shepherds Pie" - made with beef not lamb. The pie was very good. It's worth the visit.

Very pleased. Had a group of 35 on the back patio and all I have to say is well done. Service was utterly outstanding, no joke, outstanding; friendly, prompt, quick and patient. The food was very good, drinks were cold and always full. The atmosphere was pleasant. I recommend coming here individually or as a group.

This pub gives you the home away from home feeling with a safe, festive and rustic atmosphere, the amazing food and an attentive, friendly and professional staff. The live music nights are incredibly entertaining and the outdoor bar and patio is very relaxing. The fish and chips are to die for as anyone who has read The Iron Druid Chronicles and given it a shot knows; and the Shepard's pie is second to none. There is not a single beer on tap there that I don't enjoy and they really appear to take their sanitation very seriously. Parking can be tricky during a busy time but that goes for all of Mill Ave. All in all this is my favorite location in Tempe.

11/10/2018 - there for the Marine Corps Birthday Celebration (6th year in a row). Top notch service and we were made to feel at home. I think Tun Tavern would be the only more welcoming spot. Thank you Rula Bula for hosting us. Semper Fi!!!
