I'm confused by reviews claiming their food is so "epic" but I guess when you're not from the North or have never actually tried authentic, Minnesota Irish-fare, you'd find this place to be quite a gem.

Our table of seven universally were unimpressed with our food selections, however this restaurant does have a broad spread of options.

Two amongst our group had the fish & chips and were satisfied, but let's be honest, how do you mess that up!?

Overall the food lacked in flavor, but the actual service provided was great.

Their fries were seriously tasty so that'd be the only thing moving forward food-wise that I'd be interested in if I were to frequent their establishment again.

This place has fantastic food. I haven't tried everything, but everything I have tried has been great. Pretty good drink prices. Two best bartenders on Mill Ave, Brieanna and Heather are here to get you your favorite libation.

Killer food, great service and really fun atmosphere!

I have many wonder experiences for a casual dinner at Rula Bula. Not many places to get Irish food, so I enjoyed my meal. My coworker had a hummus appetizer, and had raved about how it hit the spot.

Great place to hang out with friends. Good food as well!

Food is always good, but service can be spotty. First time trying the Boxty. Tastes like a warm bite of Grama's cooking. Juicy pot roast wrapped in a fluffy yet dense layer of potatoes with plenty of gravy. French onion soup was delicious with perfectly melted cheese. I added croutons for more flavor. Great wine & beer list. Extensive whisky list and flights.

It had great food and beautiful atmosphere but the service left a lot to be desired it took the waitress 30 mins to take our order and the place only had two other customers and the really crappy part was that we had to feed the meter again only because it took so long for the waitress to take the order and she very rarely came back to fill drinks I will go back but will try to get a different waitress

Absolutely amazing. The Irish classics part of the menu are so flavorful and so hearty. The fixtures and ambiance are so similar to that of an actual Irish pub. The staff are polite and are happy to give recommendations and answer questions.

I love the atmosphere and the food is always good no matter what i order (but definitely try the fish and chips). The outdoor patio is perfect on a nice day.

This has become my favorite pub in Phoenix. The staff are always cheerful and helpful even when its packed at night. The food is also always top notch. They have the best fish and chips in town, hands down. I prefer their cuts of fish instead of the square chunks a lot of bars seem to use. The hot bollix is a must try for your app. I've seen that they apparently have some of the best wings in phoenix as well but I have yet to make it that far into the menu to try them. The fish and chips are just that good. Also having the traditional beers on tap is really nice. Overall this place is a must visit if you are in the area.

It's the best place on mill in my opinion. The service is always great and so is the food. My favorite thing there is the Gaelic chicken or the bangers and mash.

Best food I've had in town, have eaten here every day and yet to be disappointed. Loved the corned beef and cabbage but ask for more cabbage and less carrots. Irish lamb srew was fabulous also. My friends loved their meals as well. Highly recommend it.

Not only is this some of the best food in Tempe, it's some of the best in the entire Valley. If I ever moved away, this would be the place I missed most.

Awesome atmosphere, excellent food, and conveniently a bit away from all the hustle and bustle of central Mill Ave. Great place to sit with some friends, and outside is pet-friendly too!!

The bar here is small and uncomfortable to sit at..there's no space on the bar itself because of serving stations and taps in the way and placed awkwardly..which wouldn't be a problem if the staff wasn't so inattentive and forgetful. Sure we got our first drink fairly quick but our food was entirely missed and no one checked on us at all after that.. skip this one. After waiting 45 minutes and then checking on our order the staff had no idea who was responsible for what, didn't apologize and didn't try to offer any help. So we said don't worry about it and the attitude from the staff was "ok fine."

Love this place. Good food, good vibe and a proper pour. Is it like Irish food in Ireland? Don't really know or care. I just like what they serve. It is a regular place for me.

I love this establishment! It is very familiar! The Whiskey selection is superb! The food is spectacular, and the service can't be beat. For me, the fifth star hangs on the lack of an Irish breakfast on St. Patrick's day. Aside from that it's a solid 4.9999!! Go! Drink! Eat! Enjoy!

I had the wings they were good but they weren't quite as cooked hot as they could have been

The staff was super accommodating to my dogs tonight! They went above and beyond to get us situated and we ended up not staying too long. (We really wanted to eat and missed the kitchen being open.) We will be back earlier for sure! Thank you staff!

Excellent and authentic Irish cuisine (my mom is half Irish so we would know)! Great service, even during the Tempe Festival of the Arts when it's crowded they get you in with minimal waiting. The patio is huge with an outdoor bar and usually live music that is not too loud. Great service, one of our favorite places to go when in Tempe! Thank you!! :)

Rula Bula = best Fish & Chips around! Great Food, wonderful service, and it is fairly reasonably priced for the area. The pub is 100% authentic in every way and they are dog friendly. If you are in Tempe and need some good Irish food or booze this is the place.

The atmosphere was great, the bartender, Steve, I believe, was excellent, quick with a fresh pour, and friendly.

What I always order is the Sheperd's Pie. I never had it and I've seen it in cooking shows before. The fact you can add cheese on top makes it richer. The meat filling has some carrots, peas, and onions. I tasted red wine in there to make that meat filling rich. The mashed potato was buttery and soft. I felt like I don't need sides whenever I eat it but if I'm drinking some alcohol, its necessary.

Heard about this place many times. First time visiting for me the food was fantastic, however the service was terrible. My compliments to the cooks.

Great atmosphere, nice outside patio and the drink menu, especially the whiskey list, is excellent! Food was great too! Try the shepards pie or the fish and chips, can't go wrong with those choices!

Hip spot on Mill ave serving great craft beers and cocktails. The bartenders are great. Very interactive providing great service. They have both, an indoor area and an outdoor one with bars in both areas. Good place to enjoy a Saturday night. Price of the beers are surprisingly not as high as they should be, which is great. Good times, once you get in!

I love this place, the service has never been anything but awesome, the crowd is friendly the food is great, the happy hour menu is perfect for me (affordable). You can't find a better place for a guinnuess and some food anywhere in tempe. My bartender was Matt, solid service, great energy.

We had the fish and shrimp combo. It was prepared just the way we like it, crispy but light batter on the outside. The potatoes were delish, and like my friend Kathryn would say, "the bread pudding was to die for"! The server was very warm and friendly, the atmosphere is very comfortable and cozy. Cant wait to go back.

Rula bula is my favorite bar on mill! Great beer selection, a little different than the rest of Tempe, and the atmosphere attracts a slightly more mature crowd than the clubs down the street. Try to get there for happy hour and order the house chicken wings (Guinness barbecue mixed with buffalo sauce--I believe these are the best wings in Tempe).

Came here because of the Kevin Hearne books. Service good! Fish and chips: good! So many tasty things on the menu, looking forward to coming back! Do be sure to check if it's a game night, as it was VERY busy the first time we tried to come. Lunchtime was much easier to find a table.

Very chill environment and great service. Not to mention the coldest beer in town. You surely gotta check out thier bar as its flown in from Europe and really adds to the flavor of the place. We've Had some pretty big groups meet here and they've always taken great care of us.

This place is awesome. Good food, good service, awesome swords from the Iron Druid Chronicles. A gal couldn't ask for more.

Sheahann aka Atticus O'Sullivan said this Irish pub had the best &chip in the WORLD EVER. So I decided to stop in and try and he told the truth and nothing but the Truth. Great food and fantastic people working. Genuinely friendly and checking to make sure you are fine or need anything. Next adventure to find Oberon and the book store.

Went here for the 1st time over the weekend and I have to tell you that this place is a real winner. Rula Bula Is the real deal. Of course we had several excellent beers which were all great but the best part of our visit was the fish-and-chips. I'm gonna have to come back here again because the fish-and-chips was so darn good. I've had fish-and-chips at other Irish and English pubs in the Phoenix area but nothing and I mean nothing like what they serve here. The fish was fresh tasty and crispy and the chips were out of this world amazing. The service is great and the people are friendly and I will be will be back for more for sure.

Their lunch menu isn't as good as the dinner menu. However, they do have excellent mimosa specials for brunch!

I was not sure what to expect from my husband's explanation of this place before I arrive there. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed the food! There are so many options and choices. I look forward to going back again and trying different things. The servers were all very nice and helpful when it came to ordering.

Fabulous meal. Super comforting to take a chance on a place, walk in and feel the warmth of the wood, inviting wall of whisky and find a glorious plate of fish and chips and pint of Guinness to be everything your Sunday afternoon needed. Go there. Enjoy.

Had the beer battered fish sandwich and it was amazing! The tartar sauce coleslaw was amazing! Stole some of my nieces French onion soup and it was just as spectacular as the rest! It's a must eat when visiting Tempe!

Been coming here for over five years, consistently good. They are one of the few pubs with any vegan options, and would love if they added even more! Good beer, smoke a cigar outside, and a really cool old building. Over the many years I have been there, anytime there was an issue they always go above and beyond to make it right. Also check inside to get the code for free parking. Love this place!

I love it. There's parking, like right there. That's saying a lot for mill ave. The drinks are wild and sophisticated at the same time. Drinks are pricey and that's expected for an outdoor/indoor/live performance atmosphere. With parking. Did I mention that? Bartenders are young and talkative. Tap is mid priced. And you've got to try the creative cocktails. I'm being a little harsh on the price but really I think it's probably the best on the avenue For what you get.

I love their bread pudding!! Oh and their servers are a amazing so far!

I absolutely love the fish and chips here.the fish tastes fresh, the tartar sauce and coleslaw is made in house, and the chips are just delicious.

Honestly the best Irish food in the Valley! The servers were friendly and super nice and Brandon was hands down the nicest Manger I've ever dealt with I will come back just for the good times and straight up Brandon! Thanks for taking care of us and we even got October fest mugs while we were in so for that thank you! You guys are the best and HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
