It ain't great

They charged me for the entire building's heat for multiple months and didn't notice. To make matters worse my own heat has been broken the entire year. My apartment was 50 degrees during the winter and now that it's spring it's 80+. I've submitted multiple maintenance requests and it still isn't fixed.

I'd recommend you look elsewhere.

I stayed at 721 S Forest Ave. The elevator was almost always broken. It broke basically every other day. Also, they will shut off the water in the building for an hour very frequently and give you 5 minutes of warning (if you're in the shower when they send out the message, too bad for you!). One really fun story: one of the employees yelled at me multiple times to wear a mask when I was going down to do laundry (and continued to breathe down my neck while I was in the laundry room). I have severe asthma and walking up 6 flights of stairs, especially while carrying a heavy basket of laundry and wearing a mask, is near impossible. However, since the elevator is always broken, I have to take the stairs.

Yeah, you do get what you pay for as far as living space and included furniture, but I really don't have a bone to pick. Beds, desks, couches, tables all included in the place. Maintenance has always been quick and effective. My dishwasher died and they replaced it within two days amidst a global pandemic - I'm so impressed I decided to leave this review, and I'm someone who generally leaves reviews on things only if they're bad.

I lived at a one bedroom apartment on Hoover for two years. Location was great with convenient parking spot. Price was very reasonable and the apartment was fully furnished. Maintenance staff were very responsive. Everyone at the leasing office was professional and super nice.

Always good experiences! Quick maintenance response time (writing this because they just had someone over within half an hour for an oven issue), super friendly staff, and good upkeep on building.

Prime housing may seem like a good deal bc it's cheap but there's probably better places to rent if you look harder. They do multiple random inspections of their units every year and will only give you a few days notice via email. It's also super creepy that they will just enter your apartment even if you aren't there because they have master keys. With COVID spiking right now, they wanted to do some sort of furniture survey in all the apartments in my building and there were two people who came into my apartment. Neither of them took their shoes off and they touched practically everything in my apartment (including opening the microwave? Like what is the purpose of that) without sanitizing afterwards. They went into every room including bedrooms. I wish management was more conscious about the pandemic because I do not think this was appropriate in the current circumstances.

Do yourself a favor and save your time and energy ...

Do yourself a favor and save your time and energy to choose a better housing company. Extremely disrespectful office staff who usually do absolutely nothing to resolve tenant issues. Many things would always be broken or of bad quality and maintenance would rarely resolve the issue first time around. The rent may be lower than other apartments but it comes at a cost: faulty plumbing, water shut offs, faulty maintenance repairs. Also prepare yourself for the plethora of hidden charges that will come your way - prime student housing is a scam. The overall apartments are constructed poorly with bad paint jobs and broken items. Most of our furniture was covered in paint splatters and many of our towel racks were basically falling out of the wall. The cons outweighs the pros and the overall apartment is not worth it. Much better idea to invest in another company or better apartment to avoid the hassle of dealing with unhelpful staff members and random people walking into your apartment every month.
