Best fish sandwich in town! I Always get the croissants and potato skins which are also the best in town. Ribeye steak sandwich is also awesome. Many other things I like that'll take a while to name all of.

May 2017-
I'll tell you what. Those little croissants with the honey glaze are some foodie crack. This restaurant is one of my girlfriends family favorites and we went to join them this Saturday for a meal. There is ample parking and the place itself looks nice. The service was pretty good as well. The more a waiter comes by and refills my water the better I tend to like the service and our server was on top of things. I tasted the potato skins and they were okay, I wasn't amazed with that. For dinner I had the salmon salad and that was really really tasty. I am a big fan of big ole bowl of vegetables and some protein to make me feel like I am not killing my body with junk. It was tasty and I probably didn't get heart disease from it. #winning However, sometimes you just need a meal that defies your conscious. They have some good seafood dishes including crab cakes and burgers. Hopefully, I get to try those in the future. All in all a pretty good trip.

Oh P.S.- they give you mints on your way out and those are pretty good so pop one or 5 in to your mouth and enjoy

July 2019-
I came back here with my family and they have pretty much stayed the same in terms of service and deliciousness. We ordered some potato skins to share to start our meal and they were a bit better than I remember them being. We came on a busy Wednesday night and the food took close to an hour to come out, but they were really busy so we weren't crazy upset. I could see some people getting upset though. I think my mother-in-law was about to kill someone if our food didn't arrive when it did.

I ordered the Ultimate Club Sandwich and it was good. I think it would have been better if they used better quality bread though. It seemed like regular run of the mill sandwich bread. I think using a nicer bread would have really made the sandwich better. As a side I got the smashed sweet potatoes and they were pretty good.

My father-in-law ordered the Texas Burger which comes without a bun, but it looked real good. I probably will try that next time we come here. The little buttered croissants are still crack and it is hard to just have one. My wife ordered the Island Chicken which I had some of and I liked the salsa that went with it. It was pretty tasty, but I didn't think it was a generous portion.

Rucker Johns continues to cook tasty meals, but falls short of being great due to serving sizes being short of generous and prices that seem a tad bit off. Still with that said, if someone wants to come here, it is good food.

I don t write reviews normally but felt the need to share my experience. Brought my wife and almost 2 year old here after scrolling through various restaurants in the area. Our waiter was pretty poor. Asked if we were ready to order, we responded yes, he said sorry I will be back... then after taking our order, he never placed it in the system. We ordered the crab dip, two entrees and a kids meal for little man. Food was decent at best... we waited over an hour for it. Manager came by and apologized which he seemed to be doing to just about every table around. Told us he would take care of our appetizer due to the delay (nice gesture). Waitresses were walking around talking about how much chaos there was and the kitchen was going crazy. They didnt expect it to be so busy. It s Labor Day weekend... come on people. Here s a tip... it will probably be busy tomorrow too. We finished up our meal and my wife took our little one outside to let him move around. When the check came, the appetizer was still on the bill. I didn t even bother... probably would have taken another 20 minutes to get that resolved. Poorly managed, staff unprepared, space-cadet waiter, and okay food (at best) to wrap it up...

I can tell you the Honey Croissants are to die for. Always my favorite part of the meal at Rucker John's. They have great side salads, and I've always preferred their Ribeye. Every good restaurant can have great food, but the waiting staff has the great also. And sometimes it's a hit or miss depending on whether or not the waitress/waiter decides to bring there problems with them to work or if they decide to give the customers a great dining experience.
My biggest recommendation for Rucker John's is to have more & better drink specials!

Waiter was extremely friendly any accommodating. I ordered a Gibson martini. Did not come with the onions. So I asked the waiter why not and he said they forgot to reorder them. He then called the manager who came out and said he asked someone to stop at the store on the way to work and apologized. Waiter brought me my onions within 10 min That's excellent service..

My wife and I had dinner here after a beach day at Carolina Beach. We had our dog with us so wanted somewhere that is dog friendly. Rucker Johns has outdoor seating and is right along the way home, so we stopped here. Really great service and they were also really sweet to Alex. Our server checked on us frequently and didn't forget about us outside. I had a Carolina burger - really tasty and huge cheeseburger. Alex helped me finish the last couple bites. My wife got Cajun chicken Alfredo and it was also good and huge portion. I had the leftovers for lunch the next day. Great food and service, would definitely eat here again.

Wow my daughters chicken fingers were delicious, I really liked the light batter they used to fry them? My burger was even better, probably the best burger Ive had since moving here 4 months ago. The service is pretty good also but the only reason I didnt give them a 5 was because my fries were cool when I got my food!

Nice restaurant, one of the first places we tried when we moved to Wilmington. This is my wife's favorite place. Nice selections and good food. I've never been disappointed. Went just recently and was very disappointed. Waited an hour after ordering. Mentioned to the wait service and was told to wait a minute. We waited again. We had a party of four. We got up and walked out. They dropped the ball. We were done.

Their crab dip is their signature dish. This was my 3rd visit and i wasn't overall pleased. I think its a good place for an appetizer. The meals that i had lacked seasoning, somewhat bland. I will return back for the crab-dip (togo)

We live very close and frequently visit for a decent salad or sandwich. In the past, we had good luck here. Last night we had dinner for my birthday and it was a disaster. A week before, same experience. The waitresses are great but I'm pretty sure there are issues in the kitchen. It took over an hour to get our food and when it arrived, it was cold. My salad was about half the size it usually was and it we had terrible service. Taking a long break from this place

My family has been coming here for years. The food is wonderful. They have a great kids menu, with more options than most. They are also willing to split portions or customize orders to accommodate allergies.

We had our job Christmas party there and it was great. The food was so good . Our wait staff was amazing and attentive. They really put a lot of effort into making sure we were taking care of. I would definitely recommend this place for groups and just going as a couple or solo.

Rucker John's has been a weekly staple in our lives for over 20 years. Food is always excellent, waitstaff is top notch, and management is the best in town. If I had one request it would be to bring back the canollis!

Rucker John's is one of the best restaurant in the area. Their menu is great and their fare is delicious. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Prices are just right. One of the best "neighborhood" eateries south of Monkey Junction. Give it a try!!!
