We have been a customer of Ruckerjohns for years. But tonight, something just rubbed me the wrong way. We asked for our check and the waitress went to get it but stopped at the table beside us , who happened to be a younger couple, who also asked for their check but she happily shared with them. Oh do u have a loyalty card? They said no, and she proceeded to tell them how they get points and eventually would get free meals or money towards whatever. She never even asked us if we had one or wanted one. And we go there at least 4 times a month. We had a $50. Check and the other couple just ordered an appetizer and 1 drink. Just made us feel like we weren t as important enough customer as anybody else there at the time. We will just go to a restaurant where we know they appreciate our business.

Great food! Cold day but warm inside. Fireplaces.

Delicious food. Service was good. And they had a great dessert for birthday guests. Your honey croissants can't be beat

Excellent, beyond friendly service, food varied based on the dish. Great shrimp bisque, poor chilli for example. And we had to have an order corrected more than once. But the friendly service made up for that. When we didn't like the chili, they took it back, no questions asked, and gave us something else. Cozy atmosphere. I would definitely go back and tell my friends it's a nice family restaurant.

Love this restaurant! Having rib eye sandwich. It is my all time favorite.

This is one of my "go to" places for dinner. They have a number of delicious items but my favorite is the Prime Rib.

Better than national chain restaurants not quite fine dining. If you want good service don't sit in the bar area. My server was uncordial. But the food was good.

My husband loves this place! The menu has something for everyone, and the staff is friendly and professional.

Food was just ok. No one in my party liked the frys, beware that they are not really frys more like potato chips. They really needed to be cooked longer. Waitress was good.

This was a great pick for our team to get together and relax after a long tough week. The atmosphere was convivial and the restaurant seemed busy but not crowded. Our server was a master at juggling multiple checks and seemed unflappable through all the complexity of it all. The food was tasted better than Iwas expecting.

Great service and ambience--but TERRIBLE food EVERY TIME. I've been there for lunch five times and have literally hated the food every time. It's loaded with unnecessary salt--sugar--fake butter--for example, the sweet potato fries are coated with sugar. Why? When people want sweet potato fries, that's supposed to be a healthy alternative to regular fries. But not when you coat them with a thick sugar coating.

The place is always very packed, and parking is difficult, so people must like it. However, I am from the West Coast where standards for restaurant food are much higher than they are in the South. West coasters are overall much healthier eaters and prefer simpler, undoctored fare. Southerners seem to be used to high-salt, deep fried food, etc. So you might like it.

Just go don't go in the ladies restroom expecting to be pleased with what you see in the mirror. I was horrified due to the horrific lighting. They really need to do something about that!

The service is absolutely the greatest highlight in my opinion. Food tasted great as well, though the chicken seemed a little over cooked. Probably a one-time thing though. Would certainly recommend this to anyone. Kid and baby friendly too!

My favorite restaurant in Wilmington area. Love the food, and service.

We have been to Rucker John's many times and the experience is always consistent.The food ,the servers and our visit was very pleasing as it always has been.A great job by Taylor our server.

I love coming here for dinner. They have the best rolls and honey. I always get the chicken fingers dinner. The batter is not like anything I've ever had. Hands down the best I've ever had. The servers are always great! I will definitely be back.

Food was good, cool (temp wise). The manager attempted to remake the food. We didn't want that because we were so hungry and asked to not have our check discounted. I work in the restaurant business so I know things happen. None the less when we received our check our appetizers was taken off. Thank you for that, wasn't necessary though. Will for sure be back!!

Lots of menu choices, and they are all great! Go eat here, you'll love it.

Always has great food. They do run out of deserts easily, they ran out of peach cobbler while were there and the service was a bit slow even when we got there early at 5:30.

I use to be a regular customer. Had not been in years went for lunch 2 weeks ago and it wasn't very clean. Had a musky smell. The food was not very good either!
The waitress sat me my 3 yr old and my mother right beside a group of heavy drinkers. Wont be going back!!!

Bartender acted decent enough. The bar reeked of some type of cleaner. The fresh veggies as a side consisted of about 7 small pieces of soggy/oily squash and onion slivers, meal was mediocre at best.. the croissants were awesome I give them that. I ve been to the one in Emerald Isle a few times and never a bad experience but this place Is sub par for sure

Tuna sandwich with fries was awesome! Get bigger cups for sweet tea LOL

Had a very nice meal there with my wife. The steak was excellent, as was the service. Prices were very reasonable.

A quiet relaxing restaurant. The waitress is right on top of everything. I have always enjoyed going there. The food is great and priced good. I would highly recommend it.

This place has been a family favorite for 15 years. It's a great place to take friends when they come to visit, a place to celebrate special occasions, and a place that has never once disappointed us. The wait staff and bartenders are friendly and attentive and the food is always delicious. They have a great menu selection for everyone, no matter what you like to eat.

Delicious food, quick service, and a very clean restaurant.

I know we had a large party (8) but it took a very long time for our meals to come out. On the whole, the food was good and no one had any complaints. The outside dining area was pleasant and it was nice to have this option.

Half price bottles of wine, live music and wonderful appetizers make a great Tuesday evening!

Our server Courtney is the best of the best! She is extremely awesome! It seems to be everytime my wife and I eats here for lunch it's always the best.

Always good food at Rucker Johns. Staff is friendly. Love the croissants! I'd never consider getting chicken tenders at a decent restaurant like this, but their's are my family's favorites. My wife cannot resist them!

It was very busy tonight but it was worth the wait. The staff was friendly. The food was wonderful. We had fried battered mushrooms for our appetizer. SO good! I ordered the lightly battered shrimp. Cheesy grits and RJ fries. Sweet tea was on point!

Very rude. The food wasn't worth the price. The service I had was rude. Walked away didn't tell me my change. Waited 20 mins for 25.27 in change. Didn't even introduce herself to me.

Great staff, reasonable food that cares about the community (they give a % back to find safe drinking water for people) and not a bad drink lineup. Good with kids and dog friendly patio is always an added plus. So don't expect the best but know you'll enjoy your time there!

We eat there on a routine basis and always happy with the gracious staff and excellent food!

First time I have walked out of a restaurant without paying or my food. The service was horrible. The waitress was incompetent. We walked out without dinner after we sat an hour with out a explanation. Will never return.

I've gotta be honest here, Ricker John's doesn't live up to the curb appeal. From the outside it looks like like a higher scale restaurant. And you would think that a higher scale place would have something that stands out, but no. The food is horribly predictable. It's no different than you would find at a Dennys or IHOP. And it's way over priced.

Excellent food! Calamari was fried perfectly and service was excellent! Try the spicy bacon dressing and you won't regret it.

So a place known for their prime rib was out of prime rib. However, the wait staff was awesome about making things right. The food we did get was fantastic and well cooked and tasty and our glasses never went empty. Even without prime rib it was still a good experience.

Sauteed crab cake was delicious. Tried the hot bacon dressing on my salad, it had a kick and I had never tried it before. It was really good. I'm assuming its not a healthy dressing

My companion had the beach burger. It was good but the cheese was grated and served on the side so not melted. The round fries were not all cooked in the middle.

Overall we would go back. Very good service and a hidden gem among a sea of chain restaurants. I would recommend trying them out.

The food was awesome!! We were visiting family in Wilmington and had lunch at RJ's! I recommend this restaurant!

Great pickup experience during COVID! Ruckerjohns is always on our list of dinner options when visiting Carolina Beach, but due to COVID this was the first time we had done pickup and they did not disappoint. They have a curbside service for pick up orders and workers were wearing mask. The server was extremely helpful in quickly asking for our pickup information and put our food in the trunk for contactless pick up. As always, the food was delicious!! Thanks Rucker Johns!!

Maybe, being Sunday, the staff and chef were unattentive, even though most guests had left. Even so it was 40 minutes of waiting. I ordered the usual Texas Burger medium rare, no bun or sour cream. What arrived was very well done. The manager ordered a replacement that was extra well done. After an hour and 1/2, we left with the dog food, knowing our next visit will not be very soon. This restaurant was a clean, friendly place, familie, with good food and service. Oh well !

Ok place ,great waiter he was super to our family,the prices are a bit steep for no more than You get!!!! Food comes in small portions,and then you pay full price!!

Great food excellent service. The Fresh Catch tuna sandwich is my favorite but the burgers are pretty impressive.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the honey drizzled croissants. The fresh salad dressings are so good. One of my favorite things to order is the Crystal Coast Chicken. I ve actually never had anything that wasn t delicious. I love Rucker John s and would definitely highly recommend it.

Eastern NC staple. I've been coming to this restaurant since i was a child. Surprisingly, the quality of food hasn't gone down over the years. My favorites: fried mushrooms, chicken tenders, and the BBQ chicken sandwich. I can't speak to the bar or beer selection.

This place sucks it took them 1 hour and 25 minutes to make our food and it was terrible

The hickory tuna steak was amazing. Good crab dip and the chocolate chip connolli was awesome!!!
