Very nice reception. As for my room .. Old, more damp spots on the ceiling. I got stuck in the bathroom the handle was stuck
The pictures promise more than you get.
Room partially run down. The wooden elements in the bathroom are modern.
Few free parking spaces available. WiFi is awful.
But the location is good for exploring the city on foot.
Very tired hotel.
Unfriendly welcome upon arrival.
Rushed by server to eat in the restaurant and then get out. Although the food was good.
With Covid we had a continental breakfast.
Gale the breakfast was the most friendliest and happy person in the hotel.
Well done Gale keep going!!!
We had a very spacious room, great facilities (showing a bit of wear and tear but that's to be expected in a hotel of this age). Great food in the restaurant and some very good DBB packages available. It's right in the city centre and next to the railway station but noise isn't an issue. Very relaxing stay.
Nice hotel could do with modernising a bit in the rooms, right on the train station but you didn't really notice
Beautiful old hotel with plenty of modern adjustments.
We arrange to meet family and friends here as central to Railway and Bus Station. Taxi Rank and town centre. Hotel reception has Lounge table and chairs; Cafe and Bar.
Booking accommodation we do when family come to town; main reason being Location, Location, Location. Rooms are large, clean well presented. Breakfast Buffet is help yourself. Tea and coffee machines rather than Cafetieres or table service.
Gorgeous hotel and friendly staff. The hotel was very clean and exactly what we needed for 2 nights. The breakfast wasn't amazing but it was still tasty. Overall the experience was great.
Lovely old station hotel - the staff were all so friendly & welcoming & we could see they get a lot of returning guests
The room was fine not huge but clean & wellappointed
The breakfasts kept us going all day
Great central location
Spacious very clean room and bathroom. Food could be improved. Very convenient for train station.
Location was great next to station. However, Carpet was dirty, there were bugs in the bathroom. We booked two doubles and my friend got a twin instead. Breakfast is good. Would not stay here again
Nice Victorian style, but doesn't have room air conditioning.
When you enter it looks really chique! Unfortunately the room we had was a little less chique. Really hot room at the top floor. It's location is Ideal, due it's next to the train station. Breakfast is basic.
Yes it was cheap. The room was tiny but then, it said it was 'cozy' so no real complains. Take the 'free parking' statement with a pinch of salt. There's not a car park, there are 10 bays, 2 are disabled for the entire hotel only accessible if you can get through the taxi traffic jam to get to them. Nice enough though but the bed sheet had a nasty black stain. Didn't think it was anything contagious though so I didn't complain.
It's next to the Inverness Station. The restaurant is nice and the service is pretty good
Great staff and location. Only downside is the limited parking outside the hotel.
One can only guess what was going on here 150 years ago. Back then it was probably the non plus ultra. Still a recommendable hotel today.
The WiFi is terrible, we had to pay to park half a mile off the premises, and if you get a room next to the alley you re gonna be woken up early in the morning from someone collecting the rubbish. Definitely would not stay here again.
If you do stay here don t get breakfast at the hotel, go next door to the filling station and get the same thing for half price.
Quaint old hotel with updated features. We had a wonderfully large room with a good sized bathroom at the back of the hotel. The beds were comfortable and the TV large and modern with a good selection of channels. The lobby of the hotel was beautiful and felt welcoming. People would enjoy afternoon tea in the lobby. The hotel breakfast is in the ballroom and is a wonderfully large Scottish breakfast.
Lovely hotel, beautiful rooms and really good service (even when we arrived very late at night the staff were friendly and happily got us some drinks and cakes when we asked), and a huge, delicious breakfast in the morning which even included vegetarian sausages - a big plus for me
Went for coffee, seated in walkway near lift. About six tables in use. Lovely place.
Staff very helpful and friendly service /food good and plenty of , , accommodation good and clean , well worth a visit .
Service a bit slow and clutter totally. But the food very good
Old style country house hotel
Cleanliness - excellent
Service - excellent
Food - first class
Plumbing - could be better
Value for money - very good
Would definitely recommend
Old building with Titanic shaped stairs. Clean with good good and attentive staff. Am returning soon.
Lovely, central hotel with an amazing staircase, apparently the staircase on Titanic was based on the one in this hotel! Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable with everything that you need. Food in the Ash restaurant is lovely and a good selection of food was provided for breakfast, hot and cold buffet style. I'd highly recommend staying here.
Hotel is beautiful as you walk in but that is were it stops, the rest is very outdated. The customer service was really not up to scratch. Breakfast was a continental breakfast, which you except to be easy and good even during Covid times but the croissants where stale and soggy (Probably defrosted before serving) , everyone was sharing milk jugs, which is fine in normal times but not currently. Rooms where very hot even with the fan supplied. On a upside, it is located really well but that is about it.
A wonderful setting to while away a bit of time over lunch or afternoon tea. Recommended.
It's one of the great hotel in the heart of Inverness. It's located just next door to the Railway station and very close to shopping centre and town. There are lots of good restaurants around the hotel. The hotel service is good with the professional staff.
Was a great place to stay nice rooms food was excellent I would recommend this place to anyone
Just finished an overnight stay with my wife and 2 young children. Rather disappointing all round. Advertised free parking..9 spaces in a hotel with 130 rooms? why bother?? This simply misleads people and forces them to pay elsewhere. Hotel is very dated and in need of some TLC beyond the grand entrance. Rooms were very stuffy and also extremely dated. Check in 1500 and check out 10:30 am. From other hotels we have stayed at I found those times a bit late in and too early out in the morning. Breakfast ending at 09:30 sharply as they start clearing stuff away while you eat is a tad strict also as your away overnight you may want a slower paced start to your day. But apparently you have to get up and get out. Pricewise i did find cheaper when searching online but booked here becuase it looked nice and was happy paying a little extra for the surroundings.Overall whilst nothing dreadful, Although lunch in the Ash rest can only be described as rubbish. Upon reflection I have nothing that would encourage any notion of recommending or returning.
We spent a couple of nights on a deal and overall the experience was good.
We had to move rooms twice due to problems with the TV's which was a bit annoying but the reception and staff were very helpful.
Only criticism was that the cooked breakfasts were very cold and I had to ask for my plate to be microwaved.
Had a lovely afternoon tea before going on City link bus. Staff were very helpful and gave a discount because they had few gluten free options. Loved the staircase and the toilets. Great place to wait in if you are travelling. Really comfortable seats.
Very nice place, staff were quite accommodating dining room was a little bit pricey but very good
Room was right next to the tracks...soooooo loud. :/ the fire alarm went off for no reason in the middle of the night apparently because someone else set it off with steam in their room. Bed was not comfortable, shower line was backing up, and the staff was indifferent to our concerns which was upsetting. Hotel is generally gorgeous, but I was relatively miserable here...:/
We stayed for one night on a very cheap deal. The room was very dated in the decor and was at the very top of multiple sets of stairs. We were a little disappointed at the lack of view from the room; we overlooked a courtyard rather than More
You're going back to the "Golden days" in the 20:s..
Great classic style hotel, rooms arent huge but are cozy and well furnished with great great bathroom and shower and a good sized TV, all you need for a night over.
Lovely old hotel in the centre of Inverness, clean and comfortable, and very well priced
Lovely rooms at good also very nice and polite friendly staff
Very convenient location, right next to the station!! The room was cosy and warm. Fantastic value for money :)
Wonderful to stay in a place with history !!! Good location, next to the train and bus station, a few blocks from downtown.
Strategic location however it's a 160 year old hotel so you'll need to manage your expectations. Limited free parking
Cozy hotel in the middle of the city. We were very satisfied, also our dog was allowed
Service was efficient with staff being extremely helpful in explaining certain dishes and menus. We did not feel this was a ' bums on seats ' restaurant and took as long as we wanted. This is a definately to be recommended eating establishment and would consider returning at a later date
The Hotel was beautiful. A wonderful advertisement for Inverness. Room was perfect. We could not have asked for anything more
Very friendly staff, very clean, good beds, shower in bath and very noisy room
Ticked all my boxes, comfy bed, great shower, 24hr reception and room service, marvellous art feature in the lobby and helpful staff especially Gary and Jemma who kept me entertained until late one night.
Hotel very well placed but difficulties to park.
Friendly staff and rich and varied breakfast
Excellent hotel, food, location and very friendly staff.
Afternoon tea with a delicious sandwich, small biscuits, delicious scones and strawberries
Food was nice but incredibly expensive for what it was. Service was very odd, asking for desserts before giving main course, stopping me at the door for the bill when I'd already paid and so on. Some of the staff were quite abrasive. Not impressed.
Great hotel. Right in the center, right next to the train station. Room was as always (I have been here for the fourth time) clean and comfortable. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Only parking spaces lack something.
Clean rooms, good service, great breakfast selection, great location.
Lovely hotel but could do with a little love and attention and a lick of paint to make it nicer. Pity about the lack of parking but the art on display was a sight to behold.
Great, our 4th visit and the charming atmosphere is just so inviting, breakfast is a dream.
This hotel has a weird mix of posh and cheapness. From the outside it looks stately, but inside it is worn and creaky. The rooms are big and clean and the personnel friendly though and for me that is what counts. Breakfast was incredibly rich and varied. Also free WiFi.
Friendly staff dealing under difficult circumstances set by the Government but handled requests for alcohol politely and professionally
The building fabric might be a bit dated
But the staff and service more than compensated for that very good stay
Very welcoming staff very friendly would definitely go back
Lovely traditional hotel lobby with a modern arty twist
Central location. Tiny carpark. Catering prices steep
Comfortable room. Helpful and friendly staff. I appreciated the free meal in the restaurant on the first night.
Booked a cheap overnight stay due to a mistake on the internet.
Stayed Sunday night on a bargain deal and had a lovely time. The room was a good size for a twin and looked out onto the main street which was interesting and surprisingly not noisy.
Breakfast was excellent value as always (we've stayed here before) and we will be back as the location is perfect. The staff are very friendly and helpful with allowing us to leave our luggage.
We really liked the hotel! Old English style, extremely friendly staff, comfortable beds. Large bathroom with toiletries and bathtub. The hotel is located right next to the train station. If there is no room left in the hotel car park, you can park for a few pounds in a parking garage 5 minutes away. For guests arriving by train it is perfect. The eclectic shopping center is also just minutes away.
As on previous visits, we had a wonderful time. Cannot fault anything about our stay.
Staff on reception were great,I arrived at 10 pm after travelling for 4 hours the gent on reception asked the kitchen if I could have a sandwich made up as I was very hungry and tired as the hotel was quiet I assumed it wouldnt be a problem however I was told I would need to wait until 11pm for room service ,not great service.
I went with Rolf's Bus Travel and they had booked us in there
The hotel is in a great location and looks very grand when you walk in with a nineteenth century lobby and large staircase gaming out onto the first floor. The continental breakfast and the cooked breakfast were good. However, you didn't get a choice of what you wanted for cooked breakfast, you just had to leave what you didn't like. Also, the croissants were a little stale. The receptionists were friendly and staff said hello to you as you walked through the hotel. Staff did seem a little surprised when you asked them to do things. We hadn't booked breakfast and I asked the receptionist whether this was possible for our last morning. She said 'yes' but seemed to require an extra command for her to book us in for it. The decor in the rooms is quite dated compared to other hotels. In one sense, this is much more environmentally sound but perhaps this should be reflected in the cost. We asked for a room to look out on the trains. However, whilst the room seemed much larger than most other bedrooms it was darker and unless you really like trains the view is quite unattractive. We were happy with a our stay and the beds were comfortable. However, I felt it could have been more reasonably priced considering the decor.
Good friendly staff, nice room with most comfortable bed and tasty breakfast. Oh and 41 malt whiskies in the bar, what s not to like!!!
