Maid's room on the 3rd floor mediocre bed we had the impression of sleeping with the seagulls so much the thickness of the windows leaves one desired

The bar is great except the barman who gives us the impression of not being welcome

Nice experience friendly staff, restaurant 1st class ,only gripe was bedroom above station platform and the overnight sleeper arriving early morning with the engine running until getting up time.

We had a great time in Inverness and the central locality of the hotel is excallent.
The breakfast is self service and good choice of cereals and cooked food.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the restaurant has a good menu for evening meals.

Nice older style hotel in the centre of Inverness which still uses keys which found novel. Best known for its gorgeous staircase. Rooms are a little tired at parts but still very clean and comfortable overall. Hotel accepts dogs which is great however the city centre location isn't as ideal for letting pets out to do the toilet (hotels we've stayed in by the water are more convenient for this) and the restaurant/bar aren't pet friendly so outside the lobby options are limited if you do have your per.

Stunning scenery combined with a real old country house experience, complete with cobwebs on the walls and cracked grout. In need of a freshen up.

Lovely hotel, perfectly situated, visited many times, always first choice when staying in Inverness. Parking not always available but ideal if travelling by train. Rooms clean and comfortable. Very close to city centre shops.

Arrived at the hotel in the early evening, the check in process was fast and smooth, our room was very good, nlce and warm, clean and perfectly serviced, the bed was also very comfortable, additional bonus was that the room was overlooking the Station Square,
Breakfast was really good and the food in the Ash Restaurant was excellent, we really enjoyed our two night stay and are already looking forward to our next one.

Loved staying here! Love the history of the place. Hard to find a place to park though!

Exceptional , very well lay out service. Great Covid measures. We are on our travels now but I thank the staff who were fantastic. Bed comfy. Breakfast extremely tasty.

this hotek is one of the oldest in invrness ajoint to the train station couldnt fault it in any way&would recomend it to others.x

This hotel is in the centre of the city so its more convenient to have as a base, the staff couldn't be more helpful very obliging. The hotel itself is beautiful a very good example of victorian architecture, Highley recomend will be back.

this is by far my fav hotel love the location of it handy for everything. staff are all lovley and always meet some lovely guests. go visit for sure .

The lunch menu had an excellent the of options, friendly and helpful staff, good selection of drinks.

Centrally located next to the railway station ;cozy ambience; has an old world charm to it.
Clean and big rooms, comfortable beds.Very helpful front office staff. Great base to explore the Highlands. The high street is 2 mins walk away. MnS and a mall are next to it. The restaurant serves nice food . The staircase in the lobby is a treat to look at. Will surely stay again if in Inverness . Great for people watching too.

First class hotel great staff city centre location great for bars shopping etc

Hotel room was fine but the service was very poor.
Dinner is served in the Ash restaurant and having 5 staff members stand staring at you eating your dinner does not make for an enjoyable experience, however nice the food was. Breakfast was altogether horrendous. Again staff like prison wardens but poor food. Didn't go for breakfast on our second day. There it's little parking here but a central location, overall it was ok. The difference is defo poorly managed staff. My honest opinion.

Excellent dinner, good service, but you have to ask for the vegetarian menu: they don't put veggie items on the main menu (why?)

We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Highland hotel. Our room was well appointed and our evening meal was most enjoyable. This is our second stay here and we will return again.

Nice hotel even tho it's old. Bed, pillows and bed linen very comfortable. Nice breakfastand Staff very pleasant. Pity the same can't be said for Ash Restaurant attached to the hotel. Poor food, poor service, expensive for what they serve and not so nice staff. Menu after 6 p.m is twice the price as before 6 p.m
Even though the menu is exactly the same choice of food. Would go back to the hotel but not the restaurant and wouldn't recommend mend it.

Just a fabulous hotel. The food was great. The staff treated us like family. We were there for two weeks and had nothing we could complain about. It was clean. Beds were very comfortable. The location could not have been better. We will be staying there again hands down!

Breakfast was great ... unfortunately the accommodation not ... we had 2 double rooms ... one room was next to the hotel's laundry the other in a "storage room" directly under the roof ...

Full of Old World charm, comfortable, warm and ideally placed for access to the town's attractions and shops.

Good hotel in excellent location....rooms are a bit small and Windows could do with being changed in the rooms....apart from that food is excellent and staff very friendly.

Fiona was the only good thing in this hotel, she is a very patient staff and has an amazing customer service, very passionate and friendly. I hate the hotel, rooms very old and dirty bathrooms, no AC and the receptionist who was on the counter when we checked in told us to check out at 10:30 am the next day!! Have you ever heard anywhere around the world that the check out time is 10:30 am !!

Old-fashioned hotel and unkind types at the reception. Cozy rooms and anyway moderate city.

It was ok. Nice staircase. Staff not happy. Room was small and warm. A bed for the night, no more than that. Breakfast not great.

Excellent NB Victorian station hotel.
At all costs AVOiD the ASH restaurant poor food overpriced served by surly staff at the pace of molasses on a frosty morning.
The hotel could not be any different, clean, if a little shabby, grand and elegant with warm NB friendly staff

First of all, once I entered the hotel I was blown away by how beautiful the reception area looked. So fancy looking and clean. Before checking in, I asked what appeared to be a security guard if there was a bathroom I could use. He clearly judged me on my appearance and assumed I wasn't a soon to be guest. He sighed and said "if you're quick". I was appalled by how rude he was. I sure if I was a well dressed older gentleman he would not have spoken to me the way he did. I left and immediately canceled our reservation myself and my fiance had booked. The management really needs to monitor the reception staff/ security to avoid other potential guests feeling unwelcome.

Room was clean although a bit tired, food was good and staff were helpful and friendly. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would certainly go back.

Hotel is fine not specifically good or bad. Didn't had a choice what hot breakfast I wanted. You get all or nothing, a waste for the things I didn't like. Do not expect free parking spots, there are only a few spot. You can park close to the hotel for +-10 pounds a day.

Perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea if you're waiting for a train. The seating area is well designed to feel cosy and intimate without being twee, although it does feel a little old fashioned (in a good way).

Had an afternoon tea here which was better value than the cream tea and only a few pounds more. Will definitely go again if in Inverness

Very nice hotel. Reception lobby is impressive. Difficult to reach by car ... little parking space! Room was relatively small, but fine. Bar / restaurant staff relatively brisk. Hotel staff very helpful & friendly!

This hotel is fine. If you're looking for a bed for the night and a place to shower then you'll be happy. If you're arriving by train the location can't be beat as it's practically inside the train station.

The rooms are old and not kept up. We had stained window curtains and carpets. Also there is no AC so if the weather is not the room can be sweltering.

Historic hotel in Inverness Central Station. Central location good for evening city strolls. Pubs nearby. Our room was facing the platforms and was simply glazed, directly below the refrigerators of the kitchen. Nets that are supposed to protect against doves are totally filthy. Despite thick carpets it creaks on all corners and edges point food in the large hall reminds of station hall with certain atmosphere point for ONE overnight stay just enough.

Our room lovely , food in the restaurant lovely we decided to have a drink in the lounge before we headed to bed I was needing to use the toilet ( only toilet in the hotel available to residents or non resident are in the restaurant and only 1 Disappointed to find no toilet paper ( not satisfactory for someone with bowel problems after cancer ) or anyone , reported it to reception ,no apologies and when I spoke to member

of staff her answer was that it was not really her job

Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were a good size. Double room was cosy for 2 people, but the twin room had a bit more room. Lobby was beautiful to sit and relax while reading a book & have a drink.

Restaurant absolutely leaking. Seafood risotto fade, shrimp not cooked. Looks more like a rice dish. Entry not in accordance with the order. Everything is overpriced. (GBP 75 for dessert dish coffee dessert at 2)

Beautiful hotel,lovely room,excellent food and plenty of it. Staff were very helpful, friendly and POLITE ! Cannot find fault at all and we will be going back this coming Hogmanay- all being well.

Clean and well furnished room with very comfortable bed. Good size room with nice layout and good amenities - hairdryer, iron and ironing board, trouser press and nice toiletries. Plenty of plus and in convenient locations by bed and by mirror (lots of hotels fail on this point). Some interesting artwork in public areas! Staff very friendly and helpful, we arrived too early to access our room but they sorted our check in paperwork and knew who we were when we nipped back to collect key (actual key not swipe card) later and gave us access to safely locked luggage room.

Location was super convenient for us, very central and right next to the train station with easy access to buses for airport access.

Only down point really was the wi-fi which was a bit unreliable and didn't 'remember' you so you had to reconnect each time.

Rather nice! Expensive but you get what you pay for. Beautiful room and excellent disabled shower, toilet, chair and alarm chord in the bathroom.

Deliciously British! An old train station transformed into a hotel, huge rooms with tall stained glass windows, young, numerous and stylish staff, cozy and old-fashioned decor, pleasant and spacious rooms.

Very nice hotel, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent buffet breakfast with a great choice of food, lovely restaurant with a varied menu, helpful staff with a central location. Stayed here a few times and will return.

Quirky Hotel with but I will add staff were exemplary and friendly

Nice hotel, literally next door to the train station. Great location, old hotel, very good heating (we went in winter!). Lovely staff and the house keeping team do a great job. Some of the decor and furnishing could do with updating, but not urgently. Car parking in very limited (7 x places), however there are other places nearby to park. The Ash restaurant is good with nice portions.

The main staircase is the most sophisticated place in the hotel. The room we were given had two single beds (twin), having requested a double, not like the ones in the pictures. Little. The biggest problem was that the shower water was cold, the room has no heating or air conditioning. It does not have a frigobar either. Location near most places of interest.

Really enjoyed our 2 night break recently. Had a meal on first night , food was good but service could have been better.

Arrived having booked via booking.com. Beautiful hotel, stairs were memorizing - the only good thing going for this place. Unfortunately customer service was horrendous. Short and abrupt. Not sure if it's a cultural thing but never have I come across such inpatient staff. Onto the lady in the dining room for breakfast - she is the little militant one checking your door number - beware of her - don't even think to question her if your confused. I complained to reception about her. But honestly this women felt like she was running some sort of prison camp! When she explained certain rules to us and we may have no understood and we asked for it to be repeated - she actually rolled her eyes at us!! I understand it's a 3 star, but i also understand that customer service doesn't actually cost a thing. She made us feel that we as a family were all walking on eggshells. She apologised at the end of the stay. But quite frankly. Don't do it to paying customers especially in the climate.
The rooms were getting cleaned every 3 days. Ridiculous in this current climate hygiene should be a priority. So i give this hotel a ZERO for cleanliness and hygiene. We were there for 5 days and 3 days in we had run out of towels and our bins were overflowing, therefore we placed our empty bins outside our rooms and hoping for the best. If the hotel will only be cleaning every 3 days - surly provide larger bins? Instead we were having to ask for extra look roll. Felt like we were in the midst of lockdown again.

Don't go expecting a 3 star. Don't expect a welcoming greeting and God help you in the breakfast room when you ask for your hot breakfast to be vegetarian. You will get the look of death.

Ps a uncomfortable picture of Prince Andrew is in one of their cabinets. Think its best that this picture is removed. Especially with the goings on.

The hotel was shabby the minute you go up past the first floor. The desk service was fairly rude and unhelpful. The shower wouldn't even heat up. Would not recommend

We enjoyed our stay on a previous visit last year and were so impressed we decided to visit again - and were certainly not disappointed . All the staff were so friendly and cheerful and made us feel very welcome . We hope to return again later this year

Very nice stay. Clean room. I was a bit let down by the lack of training for vegans. When ordering the afternoon tea I asked what they had in the way of sandwiches, I was offered ham! Server mentioned she was not vegan so did not know what it means. Also when I asked for soy milk I am pretty sure I was given almond milk, good job I don't have a nut allergy. I was happy with some strawberries, I'm used to this!
Service at breakfast was good, I always take my own seeds as these traditional hotels never offer them, its all cooked stuff.
Hotel lounge does have a good feeling and its good for people watching.
Food in restaurant was nice but we had about 5 different servers so had to explain what we wanted to them all.
Reception was nice, attentive.
Housekeeping do a great job on rooms.

The service was a little strange, not quite bad, maybe grumpy is the best way to describe the staff. However as an American in Scotland for the first time, this hotel was an adorable, quaint, experience. The breakfast was not as high quality as the other places we stayed, but for the price we were satisfied. As it is an older building there are some quirks that make it less comfortable, but that give an interesting experience that I enjoyed as a girl who likes time travel romance novels set in Scotland ;) I love the decor. The high tea, for the price, was nice for someone who doesn't have easy access to such things at home.

Great location and friendly staff.. Needs some maintenance work done but nothing major. Room's spacious and warm with kettle, iron, and a hairdryer. Breakfast okay under the circumstances with COVID-19.. Would recommend and definitely be back.
