Overall value for money. Lots of signage re covid, people reminded to wear masks etc. Room clean, hot breakfast generally good (at surcharge). Shout ot for Gail (brekkie service) and irish bar tender, lovely, couldnt do enough for everyone. Pity rest of staff seemed fed up and were quite abrupt.
We paid surcharge for hot breakfast, on our last day arrived half an hr before end of service. My friend asked for just scrambled egg, however apparently chef refused to make any more! Not great customer service. Also communal reception area and bar cleanliness questionable, saw flick of tea towel on tables as standard, towel then used in bar. Given current need for vigilance this didnt seem fit for purpose.

Booked this hotel for my parents, who said:

The room was large and bright, and the bed was large and comfortable. We appreciated having a means to make tea or coffee in the room. The dinner was excellent and the buffet breakfast was out of this world for choice. The room was always warm and we were so near the shops.

The room was big and warm. I found it to be clean, large TV, and firm bed, plenty tea, coffee, drinking chocolate and water. The bathroom well stocked also. The meals were very good with good service. This is my kind of hotel, would love to come back.

My sister and I made the trip of our dreams to Ireland, Scotland, and Iceland last September. We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Highland Hotel in Inverness. The hotel is beautiful with a rich history spanning over 150+ years. The grand staircase in the entrance was awesome as was the rest of the hotel. Much of the original grandeur has been maintained. It is situated in a small square next to a ScotRail station and a few offices. Parking is the only drawback but there is an underground park just 3 blocks away that is quite convenient and safe. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the food was delicious. Well worth it!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Food is good. Rooms are clean and comfortable although a little old fashioned, some would call it quaint. Situated town centre ideally situated fore both shops and rail links

The interior of the hotel is really impressive. Unfortunately, the elevator is very slow. The ceiling on the 3rd floor is very low. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Mold broken flow and peeling paint. Even the window was just not tight. Food and staff were good.

Customer service has been lovely so far and room is just what I needed. Clean, all the basics and comfortable. Looks grand as you enter and really convenient near the station. I stupidly read the bad reviews and expected it to be grim, but its lovely actually.

Friendly staff, good food with unbelievable selection at Breakfast and overall a lovely hotel. Have stayed several times and will definitely go again - also very central - right next to Train Station and five minutes walk to Bus Station .

Unfortunately the best thing about the Royal Highl...

Unfortunately the best thing about the Royal Highland is also one of the worst - its location. It is located in a great area for walking to and seeing everything in Inverness, but it is also extremely loud and parking is most definitely an issue. There is no complimentary parking and very little discounted parking. There is no place to stop and unload your car, there are no doormen to help you, no bellman to help you to your room, and no convenient place to leave your car while you check in. While most of the desk staff was pleasant enough, there were one or two who were simply rude - the ONLY rude people we encountered in Scotland during a three week stay! The hotel itself is run down and desperately in need of a renovation inside - the art is at best odd and at worst horrific and the floor and wall coverings dated and peeling and ready to be completely redone. The bar area was nice enough. I never once found someone at the coffee bar during the morning when you would really want a cup of coffee. While I was thrilled to be in Inverness, I deeply regret my choice of hotel and would not recommend it to anyone.

Hotel way past it s best. Room was just about ok, with NO view whatsoever as it overlooked Inverness train station roof. We stayed on a groupon deal, and the hotel usually shoves the purchasers in one of the iffy rooms. It s a very old More

A great value two night break in Inverness at the Royal Highland Hotel with afternoon tea , cocktails and an evening meal. A very nice hotel with super lounge area and a good sized bedroom. The staff were very helpful when I could not log into the wifi. We will return to enjoy again.

I gave it a one because I can't give a zero. Worst place ever. Oldest in Scotland and reflects it. Unlevel floors made it difficult to sleep. Had 3 nights booked and checked out after the first. Ask for a refund and was refused. Hope you check it out before you decide to stay there.

A little tired in places but the staff were very friendly and the room comfortable, the entrance lobby is very grand still and the location great. If you get the right price it is well worth staying here. Would recommend

The perfect experience for myself and my twin sister, who has MS - the room was exceptionally large and the perfectly clean. The dinner in the Ash restaurant was amazing and I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Room was nice and loved the atmosphere of the hotel, breakfast was above and beyond. A problem for me was the room was too warm and with no way of cooling quickly was hard to sleep the first night. Second issue is parking as there's only 9 spaces for the hotel so had to park in a local car park.

Although the hotel has fallen in years, it is still a small treat in Inverness. Personally, I really liked the flair. However, this hotel is more of a dump for older guests, we as a family of five between 19-53 did not feel so comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely bad. On the first morning we as a family had to have breakfast at three tables and the next morning we got a table for all of us, but the plates and cups were literally taken away from us during breakfast because you need the table again. Not really a problem, you just have to talk to each other. I also found the protective measures due to Corona questionable. Everyone has to be put apart, but everyone goes to the buffet without a mask and mostly everything was touched with the hands. We saw that much better on our tour.

Superb location right in the centre of the city, next to the train station. The lobby area is very nicely maintained with a grand staircase leading up the rooms. Our room was clean and cosy with a decent sized bathroom. WiFi connection was amazingly fast! The only issue was that you could hear the sound of others walking down the corridor early in the morning. Breakfast (included for us) was a buffet Scottish breakfast was quite tasty, plenty of options available. No issues with parking for us (about 8 free spots at the front of the hotel) but it can fill up easily. Overall, we had a lovely time in Inverness, and would be very happy to stay at the Royal Highland hotel again.

It has been 165 years that have stayed here, from travelers to Queen Victoria, been here

Once a grand hotel, our recent experience was less than grand. Obviously catering to mass tourism the room was cramped and the walls so thin we could hear coughs and snores and showering from next door. Breakfast served in the ballroom with trestle tables which reminded us of a school canteen. Food plentiful but very average and coffee dire. I certainly won t return.

Lovely clean hotel with friendly staff right in the centre of Inverness and the food was amazing huge selection for every taste at the breakfast. We had an itison voucher and had a cocktail on arrival 20% discount on our dinner and a half price second drink. I intend to return.

Interesting and beautiful building but rooms, hallways, lift etc rather old fashioned and could do with a bit of updating. Reception service a bit brusque but breakfast staff extremely friendly. Stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal which was excellent value. Location perfect for the train station.

Hotel very well placed in the city, right next to the train station.
Well soundproof we can not hear the train, but we hear the neighbors, we know when he gets drunk and if he takes a shower.
The breakfast is ok but not famous, the more choices of coffee drinks, the less orange juice that is surely powdered at the base.
As at the restaurant of hotels that I see strongly advises we see ridding faster than you want.
Brief hotel more convenient than standing.

Atypical setting freaking out in the halls of the shining :)
Decor of the room in the style of the hotel. A bit dated though but not disturbing.
The breakfast room seems gigantic, the buffet is appreciable.
We stopped there for only one night and everything went well.
Even with the train station nearby the noise level was not disturbing.
Access by car complicated at the parking level. Do not expect to park in front of the hotel if you are arriving by car.
I didn't care if there was parking.
Then the city is not the most folichon but there are still a few places to eat (at worst at the hotel).

This hotel has totally disappointed me since you can not shower with hot water until 9:45 pm because that water passes through the kitchen first and until you finish your homework you can not shower. Shameful!!

The place is beautiful but wouldn't know what vegan is if it bit them on the nose. After not having a Christmas dinner for me, and then trying to serve me pasta covered in cheese I was a tad bit surprised. Also my Christmas dessert was poorly drained canned fruit. Anyways rooms, and location is amazing they just don't cater to plant based people.

Fantastic value . High Tea to die for. Decor and facillities excellent. The breakfast manager her name escapes me was very informative regarding hotel history and surrounding area. One of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten . I will definitely be back and I have recommended this hotel to my friends who do a lot of short breaks .

This was our 4th stay at this hotel and we hope we will be back. Our Groupon voucher makes it really good value. The food is excellent and, although the a la carte menu is pricey, there are good value-for-money offers. The beds are comfortable. The staff are very friendly - nothing is too much trouble. All in all we had a great 3-night stay. Here's to the next time.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The bathroom alone is the largest and exquisite bathrooms I've had in a hotel room. The parking is not the best as it shares a parking lot with the train station, but there's a cheap parking structure right around the corner. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel very nice. Cozy and comfortable rooms. Nothing is missing: bathroom well equipped and supplied with bath and care products. Huge bed and good bedding. Charming a little retro. To advise in Inverness.

The hotel once had its shine, but long lost. Everything is pretty run down, broken or very dirty. The ladies at the front desk are unfriendly and there are only 5 free parking spaces, although it meant free parking included. Otherwise it is very centrally located, right next to the train station. Also here at night noise from the trains.

Friendly staff. They wanted to deliver my bags to my room, but because I didn't immediately go to my room, I had to stop by the desk to pick them up anyway. I'd like another pillow or two as well. Wi-fi isn't consistent in bedroom. Lastly, not their fault, but guests can be loud and easily heard from within rooms.

Staff friendly and helpfull apart from the waiter that thought he was the owner told me that It was the rules that I could not have two bottles of wine on the table, never heard this in my life, of course I refused to let him take one away, the other downside was the extremely hard bed very uncomfortable. The hotel was well kept and the rooms and other areas were very clean.

The overall experience at the Royal Highland was good. The location is ideal for getting around the city , the only downside is the limited parking but this is understandable because of the location.
