I have been a couple times and would still go back if the person I was dining with really wanted to go, but I am yet to be blown away by the food. I do like setup however... nice dining area and nice bar area. They have a small outdoor patio that I wouldnt mind trying out when the weather warms up.

Very surprised at how good the chicken parm was. Prepared with what appeared to be home made ziti in an ala vodka sauce with fresh sundried tomatoes, mozz and ricotta. All this was on top of the chicken cutlet. Absolutely delicious and a generous portion so I can enjoy the rest tonite. Service was good and price was reasonable.
I had a somewhat negative experience here. We made reservations in advance, but when we arrived the hostess refused to seat us at a table by the window (which remained empty for our entire time there, and was sized appropriately for our party). Our waitress spilled a glass of water all over my dad, soaking him and the table. Yes, accidents happen, and she was genuinely regretful and comp'ed our appetizer. The meal itself was fine, not bad, but not as amazing as some other reviews. It's a good option if you want something different than a chain.
The service was great with the manager popping over to gauge our dining experience. The food was traditional pub fare including fresh hand-formed burgers and crispy French fries. I usually don t enjoy sweet potato fries because, in my opinion, they re usually soggy and bland. However, not the ones at Rooster Co. These sweet potato fries stood out as they were quite a ways off from soggy or bland. Outdoor tables are also available and parking was easy and convenient.
I like to patronize local businesses, especially restaurants, because if they do well, I believe, we, as residents of this state, all profit, somehow.
Let me be clear: I love this place. The food has never disappointed, the staff are always great. Great dining experience. But my favorite part was that my best friend could eat here without any fear of her soy allergy. The menu always had interesting meals that we're soy free. Or we could always ask just in case, and the waiting staff were happy to accommodate and check ingredients. Unfortunately, that can no longer be the case. We learned recently that Rooster Company now uses a cheaper soybean/vegetable oil. And since many ingredients are pre-fried, we can't even ask for the chefs to switch to a different oil. It's disheartening, you can't imagine how hard it is finding a restaurant that doesn't use soybean or vegetable oil. I hope I can one day change this rating from 1 star to the 5 that it deserves. But right now, this cost-saving tactic has cost us yet another great dining experience.
Came in today at around 2:30pm when there was only one other table and a few guys at the bar. Food took a while to come out and was luke warm even though it was very tasty and was wondering why it took so long to come out. After eating we waited around probably 10 minutes looking for the server to get our check and found her at the bar chatting it up with a few guys and the bar lady, I waited a few minutes watching to see if she would turn her head to see what we were up to at the table, but to no avail I had to get up and walk over to the bar and ask for the check. Prob explains why the food came out warm too...service could definitely better for a very quiet lunch crowd.
This place is exceedingly fancy and hipster-ish. There is not a normal item on the menu, including the kids dishes. Everything is a twist on a classic dish, or something you've never heard of. The wait was very long, and the women's bathroom was tiny. The food was very good in the end, but everything else made me want to leave.
Good, but pricey. A nice special occasion or special night out sortof place, but a bit too costly to go to regularly, and just not quite good enough to stand among the truly great. Still worth a visit and certainly a place I'll be back to, with its unique choices, good quality, and good service. Just not too often. If you're looking for a nice dinner and don't mind spending at least $30 a person, I highly recommend it.
Brunch is fantastic! We went with a group of 10, service was a little slow at times but the food was phenomenal. I love that they use local ingredients. They had some very unique and delicious dishes, such as the local melon. I would recommend trying their Sunday brunch at least once!! We will be coming back!
Can't say enough good things about this place. Food is delicious, drinks are wonderful, service is top-notch, prices are reasonable, and parking is convenient. What's not to love?
Very unprofessional. I ordered food from Flora and they did not tell me to come to Rooster until I showed up. Not to mention they did not have some of the items on the Flora menu.
Bartender gave me and my friend excellent recommendations on food which was great. I had the fried chicken cutlet sandwich.. flavor and execution on point . Beer list was interesting and my friends cocktail was great. Atmosphere was hard to judge given only a handful of people there but definitely got a business lunch and drink vibe here. Recommend for lunch 100%
What a great place! The food is amazing! The chicken was cooked perfect and the cola BBQ sauce was fantastic! I usually enjoy the sauce cooked with the meat but I was still blown away by the flavor! The sangria with the straw cut apple was a hit at our table as well. Can't wait to go back!
I have been eating here since they opened, everything is great but the truffle mac and cheese is ridiculous, the spinach salad is something I order every single time it's so good. Chicken is amazing, cocktails are delish and strong ..but I am writing my review about the customer service. John, one of the owners, happened to answer the phone yesterday when I called seeing if they do deliveries. I mentioned I was trying to have yummy meals sent to my BFF who just had a baby a few days ago and since I can't go visit yet due to quarantine, I just wanted to do something nice. He could have just said yea we do or referred me to GrubHub but instead said he was going to personally deliver to them. I just felt that was incredibly kind, he was super nice to chat with, and I've always known I would continue to go there but this just sort of sealed the deal forever! Eat here, it's so good!
Loved it! Had the Skillet Lasagna and it was great. App was the Pork Belly selection and that was awesome too. Service was good. It was a Monday night and the place was full. Heard they opened another spot in West Hartford Center.
Omg..we had such a great time here! We tried peanut butter toast, breakfast tacos, and chicken & waffles! Absolutely delicious! Our bartender Tina was the BEST!! Bellinis and mimosas..absolutely delish, we will definitely be stopping by again
Only stopped for a espresso martini. Drink was good. Price was fair. Place seems to have a good vibe. Would definitely come back to try again and some more.
This place is outstanding, every meal that I have had here is top notch. The service is always good and the polenta is the best. Hands down a killer concept.
Stopped in on a Saturday evening while visiting Hartford. We made a reservation but didn't need one. For a really comfortable Saturday evening, it was surprisingly not crowded; there were only 2 other groups outside.
Felt safe they were adhering to COVID guidelines. Staff were masked properly. We also saw them running food out to cars waiting for curbside takeout.
As of August 22, they were offering both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside, but there were a couple of groups dining inside too. There were ~12 tables outside.
We got the calamari to start, and we split the half rotisserie chicken with pineapple jerk sauce and sides of polenta and buffalo cauliflower. Everything was delicious!
Our only complaint is that our server was devoid of personality. He was very mechanical in his service, but not going to ding the rating because he still performed his responsibilities.
This place is PHENOMENAL!!! It is evident the pride in high quality fresh ingredients. I ordered a duck version of the quail entree. I must admit, this dinner was quite possibly the best duck I have ever had the pleasure of eating. My hat goes off to the chef. This will become my new favorite "go to" for date nights with my honey.
Dan was awesome and more than accommodating. Food was rad, atmosphere was engaging and inviting. The clientele might not always be your cup o'tea, but the food and libation more than make up for this in spades. Can't reccomend enough.
Offer priced...poor customer service. Got honey mustard without the mustard....yup a small cup of honey...better options in walking distance than this place
So I ordered a cheese quesadilla and they gave me a Chicken and cheese quesadilla and I m not like I don t wanna go back to score for this so why did you guys give me a chicken cheese quesadilla even though I specifically asked for a cheese quesadilla
Unique upscale breakfast options. Great servers and good atmosphere to meet up with friends. A little pricey, but probably worth it due to the unique ingredients.
Rooster Co. never dissapoints! Everything on the menu is delicious. I have been here a few times for Sunday brunch and not usually too busy. Definitely recommend for a relaxing Sunday brunch
I went to Rooster Co. with my family following a funeral recently. I was unable to stay, and one of the staff members boxed me up some food to go (which she totally didn't have to, but did anyway) It was absolutely amazing! They gave me a little of everything, and It was great food! Thanks again, I will be returning!
Horrible first impression it was a birthday occasion for me n my wife and we literally were standing waiting at the hostess stand for at least 5 minutes after 3 diffrent employees made eye contact with both of us and never acknowledged that we were there the restaurant was dead and then we were seated finally outside on the patio and was told the server would be there to help us we sat for another 10 minutes before any contact would be made they never got the chance because we got up and left just terrible hospitality
Each time I've been here the food has been incredible. The restaurant offers a relaxed ambiance and the wait staff is attentive without being overbearing. I don't have a negative thing to say about this establishment and I highly recommend paying this place a visit.
We had a very nice meal outside for Father day. We ordered our drinks and they arrived quickly. My old fashioned was excellent with a little sweetness. The swedish chicken meatballs was excellent. My wife ordered the arugula salad with meatballs. Excellent. I had the Mac Daddy Mac and cheese that had caramelized onions and pork belly. The bowl was hot and cheesey. The pork belly was hot and crispy. The caramelized onions made it. Another pleasant evening at the rooster.
Love getting lunch here with friends from work. John at the bar is great, always knows what each of us drink, and is fun to chat with during our meal. Food is great, locally sourced, and reasonably priced.
Awesome foods, decent beer selection, good happy hour specials. Make sure you call ahead on weekends or Friday night though. Love the weekend brunch too
Average food with great staff. Items prepared fresh stand out, but plates offer a mix of the good and the less than good. Eaten there 3 Times now and they've never made good potatoes, but do very well with chicken. Most recently tried Brunch. Four people, walk in (no reservation) Restaurant was moderately busy with around 3/5 of tables filled. We were seated immediately. We came based on the high recommendation by our waitress on the last visit as well as the appealing menu. We all ordered the Lobster Eggs Benedict. This is listed as:
Having tried the place 3 times now, I find it average with exceptional wait staff. I hope they can improve the deficiencies and become the restaurant we'd hoped for. Good Luck Rooster Co, not sure about giving it another try though.
What a wonderful dinner! I got the mac & cheese (don't let the simple name fool you) and was blown away! Perfect atmosphere, great staff, and some extremely happy customers on our end! Seriously, must try Rooster Co!
