I adopted my sweet Noodle (formerly Carmilla) from here yesterday. This was my first time adopting a cat so I was relatively nervous, and was asking questions non-stop. The folks here answered all of my questions very well, and now I have a beautiful furry friend here with me :) They have an awesome outdoor patio setup for the cats, as well as amazing people. Thanks for doing what you do!

Received 2 kittens from this awful place. Both had RINGWORM. They took the cats back, but wouldn't do a refund because they called it a donation. Now I'm left to disinfect my entire house. STAY AWAY.

I had the worst experience ever

I had the worst experience ever
Me my wife and daughter were looking for a kitten to add to our family
But the women I think the boss said we were allowed to get one cat but 2 cats is recommended but after my daughter fell in love with the cat she hung out with most of the time she said we absolutely have to get two two kittens with no exceptions. This place is a scam and I will never come here again

We adopted Miss Wendy from this rescue 2 years ago...

We adopted Miss Wendy from this rescue 2 years ago and recently have begun fostering kittens, their moms, etc. It was an easy process to adopt Wendy, and she's a wonderful, beautiful, healthy gray tabby cat filled with kitten personality.

I'm mainly writing this review because I'm really surprised by some of the reviews written without consideration for their impact to the numerous cats that are rescued and cared for as the rescue center continuously works so hard to find them their forever homes. So, I'd like to offer some alternative points of view. I know it's difficult to step outside of what you may feel was a negative experience and view it objectively, but some of these negative reviews seem to be written without acknowledgement of some of the more practical challenges of caring for hundreds of animals in one place, many of which are retrieved from stressful situations, with an extremely limited budget.

Has anyone had a kid in daycare recently? These kids are constantly spreading germs and getting sick Daycare sites are a cesspool of germs due to tiny humans no matter how beloved by their parents and their daycare staff. For some perspective, think about the resources that child day-care sites have available to them.

Now please consider that animal rescue centers rely on donations, grant, etc. and are not a booming business. I've taken care of a few sick foster kittens and cats and it was relatively easy to nurse them back to health within a few days. The rescue staff is extremely communicative and available to ensure the foster cats get healthy, providing the meds, the vet staff, etc. After the foster kittens and cats have finished their meds, staff checks in to make sure they're healthy and can be cleared for adoption. Despite best efforts, there's a potential for a cat you adopt to get sick. I don't think it's fair to blame the rescue. It's entirely possible the new environment (your home), despite your best efforts, is the reason they get sick. Or perhaps, just like for people, stress of being moved from one environment to another environment has resulted in illness. But once you adopt an animal, YOU take responsibility for caring for it and its medical expenses. A rescue center doesn't have endless budget to provide resources to you once you have adopted an animal. And just like with people, kittens and cats can be fragile beings and sometimes there are sad surprises regarding health that are completely unpredictable.

If you spend any time getting to know the staff, visiting the site and seeing how the cats are cared for, follow RMFR on social media, attend their fundraising events, etc, you will be assured that the rescue obviously does its best to care for and save as many cats as they can and keep as many cats as healthy as they can. I imagine it can be a tough, thankless job at times to watch countless abandoned animals enter their facility but big love for the animals is the mission. And finally, many people in this world just aren't capable of truly offering a forever, loving home and it would appear to me that the rescue is doing its best to identify the best homes with the highest probability of success. I highly recommend this rescue and remember: it's not all about you, it's also about the cats! :)

The woman in charge lied to myself and my 7 year old daughter. After we finished the paperwork and got approved for the cat my daughter picked out we where told that the cat had to be fixed and we could pick her up next week. When that day came, my daughter and I where so excited to get our new family member but when we got there we found out that they gave away our cat. The cat we had already paid for. I convinced my daughter to pick out a different cat but the lady working there said that we could not have a cat unless we took two. I will NEVER get another cat there again. They where so rude!

We were there this weekend after visiting other shelters. This place was welcoming and I didn't feel pressured or judged to get any kind of cat like they do at other places. The whole staff really cares about these animals and the interview process is quick. They just want to make sure its a good fit and you understand what you're doing. There's also a kitten room! That's what the picture is of. It's like a little piece of heaven you can enjoy. We brought our boy home yesterday and they provide you with everything you need to get going as a cat parent. They do tend to be busy on the weekends but they work their butts off to make sure everyone is taken care of. Overall my husband and I were very happy with everything. If you're looking to adopt a cat this is a great place. They maintain everything well for them. For once we didn't feel like the animals were destitute in there.

This free-roaming shelter really allows the cats to be themselves, so you get a great idea of the cat's temperament before adopting. Their incredible staff works hard to make sure that the all the cats are headed to safe and permanent homes.

If adopting a kitten, adopt 2! They are high-energy and need a playmate. For a single-cat household, adopt an adult - many cats have been there a long time, so check John's Room in the back!

Just called for more information on the kittens I was interested in. The lady, Pat, on the phone was very rude and made me feel like an idiot for having questions. I really wanted to adopt a kitten from a rescue organization, but I don't feel like I will be respected if I go to forgotten felines rescue. Customer service is key. When you make someone feel bad about their experience, you push people away from your company.

Amazing no-kill shelter that truly loves their pets. I respect this place so much and have been fostering with them for quite some time. They treat their cats better than any shelter I've ever been to; I love that they have an outside area to play! The prices for some animals may be slightly higher than dumb friends league, per say, but you can sleep well as night knowing you're supporting a great shelter that doesn't put their animals to sleep if they can't find them a good home after a certain amount of time. Love this place.

Absolute horrible experience and would not recommend adopting here if you want to walk away feeling like adopting the 'right way' is worth your time. Who ever did our interview, which seemed more like a interrogation, after waiting a hour for her to get off the phone and my 8 year old son picking a kitten, I was denied permission to adopt. The reason I was given was that I had rehomed 1 single cat during my 37 year lifetime. Ridiculous! Not to mention the same person had no idea if the kitten was fixed or not and to top that off gave me a estimated time of birth which conveniently fell one week shy of the 4 month mark which would have saved me $90. She even got offended when I asked if we could negotiate. Dealing with someone who is suppose to be intuitive enough to decide who is a bad adoptee candidate and who is not. My opinion is that that person needs to be put in another position or fired or better yet take a look at there own issues that need dealt with before being a advocate for these animals. I walked out of that place as quick as possible and ended up adopting elsewhere with good hearted individuals who don't discriminate and me and my son have a beautiful kitten we are in love with. Now this is directly a critical review on that one individual(interviewer). The rest of the staff were very helpful and welcoming:)

The cats where hiding the whole time. The place did not smell very well and the lady that helped me i think her name was kristin or somthing like that talked like if she was laying in bed half asleep. I was not happy with my visit at all this place can use some new employes i feel bad for those poor cats. They do not deserve to be placed in an environment like that I hope next time it's clean amd the cats are out not all depresed hiding from the employes

An amazing shelter with great cats of all types and ages. They have a very thorough adoption process available ahead of time online. The adoption process ensures a good fit between owner and their new addition to the family.

Remember that adopting a cat is making a commitment to that cat for the rest of the cat's life!

When you come to look for a new cat, take your time and meet them all at their own speed. Check in with the shy cats in The Library as they all have unique, beautiful personalities which may fit perfectly into your home and family.

I unfortunately had to relinquish my cats after years of owning them. It was one of the hardest things I've done and I'm so grateful for RMFR. I know my babies are well taken care of and they're going to get plenty of love. It means the world to me that you guys exist. Thank you so much.

Horrible care!! Within the first 8 days of adopting a cat, she had a medical issue which I explained to Cari. I was going to take her to a local vet, but was told to bring her back in anyways. They made me take her all the way back to treat her only to tell me she was running a fever and there was nothing they could do.

They call themselves cat people, but they knowingly made me stress her out with the trip only to slam the door in her face within the first 2 minutes of getting there. Go to a place that actually cares about the well-being of their cats. Absolutely disgusting.

Adopted a couple of kittens a few years back. They were both healthy and beautiful when we got them. Unfortuantely, one of them had a birth disease that was inevitably fatal and we lost him. Thankfully, they allowed us to adopt another baby without extra charge and now the two are perfectly happy and spoiled adults. If I ever want to adopt another cat, it would be from here. Great place, great environment... Not to mention all the lovable cats that are literally everywhere.

First off, there are tons of great cats here that my gf and I would of loved to adopt....until we got kicked out.

Unfortunately, the look and smell of this place is like a scene out of animal hoarders. In addition, it's pretty clear this place isn't run too well. After spending 30 minutes walking around and finding over 3 cats we were interesting in adopting, we made it to the last room. Just like every other room there was a sign on the door that asked us to clean our hands and then we may enter. After doing such, we entered and were surrounded by cats that wanted nothing but our attention. However, after 5 minutes of being in the room (petting, being climbed on, etc) a volunteer poked her head in and scolded us for "being in a room that was being quarantined" and told us not to leave until she got help. After waiting for 5 more minutes surrounded by "who knows what" another volunteer poked her head in the OTHER door (that was marked from the outside not to enter)...scolded us some more, acted like we were trying to cause trouble, and rudely demanded we leave in front of other people there. Oh...and on the way out warned us not to touch other animals cause we might be harboring unknown diseases now.

Here is some common sense for RMFR...if a room has two doors (especially on complete opposite sides of a room), you should probably mark both of them with signs saying to keep out...especially if there are potentially diseased cats inside. Our day of trying to adopt a cat was ruined because of your negligence. Thanks.

We tried to adopt a kitten at 4:31 and they said we could not adopt the kitten that because they stop taking applications at 4:30. Also on the adoption form it asks if you would let your cat go outside and we said yes on a leash. They denied our application because they don t want the cat to be let outside at all. So when we first went into the place it was very nice but when we went later in the week nobody was very helpful. They talk to much and don t listen to the costumers and there wants. They don t hold cats for people under any circumstances. Not the best place to get a cat from.

Adopters beware: RMFR is not concerned about the welfare of the animal. They prefer to make assumptions rather than verify facts. Any cat left in their care is at harm. I would not recommend adoption and/or to relinquish a cat to their care. By far the worst animal care facility.

My family adopted a cat here. He's a good boy, and has been doing great. The people here were pleasant and helpful, without breathing down your neck. I love their focus on getting all cats a home, including traditionally less adoptable cats instead of solely focusing on kittens. They're doing a great job here. The process of adoption was easy, not the deep interrogation some places have, just enough to make sure the cats go to a good home.

Adopting Ellie was so easy we spoke to the adoption lady on the phone and was so nice and we got approved immediately. I would recommend getting a cat from this amazing rescue.

Terrible experience. Can I give a negative stars ...

Terrible experience. Can I give a negative stars review? My family tried to adopt two kittens from RMFR at PetSmart. We got the call from the shelter that we we're rejected for the kittens. Why? Because I had declawed cats in the past (18+ years ago) & honestly stated that in an extreme situation may consider it; because I answered that I might, on occasion, under very specific circumstances, depending on the age & personality of the cat, allow a cat to sit on the deck in my lap; because I had an outdoor cat in the past....30years ago & in a different state...a stray my brother took in. It did not matter that I cared for a diabetic cat for year, and only stopped when his owner & I divorced. Nor that I cared for my previous cat from the age of 5mos until he passed away from kidney failure at 18 years old...after months of Subcu fluids & meds & weight loss. Nope..... didn't matter. I was even asked if we ever went on vacation & what we would do if we did. Or what provision we would make if something happened to us. Funny, though, they didn't ask about microchipping or where I live. So basically, I was rejected as a bad cat owner based on my honest answers on a paper application. Not after a conversation, or observation, or even after explanation of the brief answers. I tried talking to the shelter worker who called me, but she refused to listen. & procedure is more important here than getting cats in loving homes. I will never EVER entertain adopting from or donating to this group again. Good luck if you do try....I doubt anyone is good enough to meet their standards.

In response to those complaining about RMFR releasing sick kittens & denying it or refusing to treat...and claiming other shelters are the same: .my family adooado 2 adorable kittens from Denver Dumb Friends League. We took one home immediately with his full vet medical record showing his neuter, chipping, and treatment for a cold. The the other had to stay for her spay surgery. During the surgery, the vets found she had ringworm. They called me right away to make an appointment for me to bring the boy in for testing. They explained the treatment options to me, and we decided that the girl would remain at DDFL for treatment. No extra charges for any treatments or testing. We had to wait a while, but we got our girl home happy & healthy. And both still have their claws & only go outside on a harness & leash. We got the sweetest kitties, and they are being spoiled rotten. Guess it turned out ok for us. Just hope the RMFR kitties fared as well.

Everyone here was very friendly and knew the cats (who had been there) really well. They were able to give me insight into which cat would be the right fit for my needs and for the cats' needs as well. When my cat was experiencing some issues, staff was very responsive and helped out a lot. They made it a great experience and I would definitely adopt here again.

Also, I only had time to go to the shelter on weekends, and apparently they are very busy then as cats often come in on the weekends and are quickly adopted - just FYI!

I adopted my cat 12 years ago from this NO KILLS cat shelter and I continue to sponsor cats until either they have been adopted or pass over the rainbow bridge. I will continue to do so as I believe we should have more true NO KILLs animals shelters.
I loved the experience in being able to go around and spend as much timer as I needed going to meet all of the cats inside and outside, the kittens who were adorable, and the knowledge the staff had of each cat. I adopted my Torby cat Miss Who and she was 2 years old at the time.
I would highly recommend this shelter to adopt a cat or kitten from Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue(RMFR).
I will continue to keep supporting this shelter financially and would recommend others do so by sponsoring a cat.

Great place for kitties! Dont lwt the outside fool you. Cats mostly roam free. Even an outdoor free roam enclosure w/ trees! Clean, friendly staff and volunteers. My only complaint is didn't find the kitty of my dreams I didn't go through the whole process. I feel I can't fairly give them 5 stars if I find my feline next Friday I will hopefully update.

They really care for these animals. Unless they have a medical need that requires them to be isolated, they let them all out of their cages and roam around. The shelter has grassy yard areas where the kitties can be outside. The volunteers/workers really seem to care about the cats, and they treat them very well while they're there. I picked up an FIV+ kitty the other day, and she is the most sweet, perfect kitty I've ever met! I went into the shelter thinking about getting a cat eventually, but I walked out the same day with this little baby. And really, I couldn't be happier.

Please give the cat in John's Room (FIV/FELV ward). They are incredibly special cats who would love to come home with you!

My family and I stopped in several times over a few months looking for our next family member. I even had an application ready to go and fell in love with a kitten there. However, after reading our application and seeing we may have the cat go outside once in awhile into our yard, they shut us down.

I understand if this is their policy, but at no point during our multiple trips here was this mentioned. When I asked if they had noted this on the website, the head employee said she had no idea.

Okay....?

I rechecked the website to see if this policy was listed anywhere. It wasn t. Maybe you can clearly list this so that people don t spend weekend upon weekend looking for a family member if it s not even possible. I was crushed. Further - why not just write that directly on your application instead of ask a question about something that you have no interest in anyway?

We would be an incredible home! I ve had cats for my whole life who have mostly been 90% indoor, with small visits outside and they ve all lived 15-22 years. All of this could have been avoided with better communication on the part of the organization. I am disappointed in the customer service here and will not be recommending or supporting RMFR.

Absolutely amazing! The women there was so helpful, I called ahead a time and was able to adopt my new kitty right away in just 30 minutes! I have tried every place to find a loving cuddle bug and they were the ones. $100 is well worth the price for a kitten this healthy and plus with free goodies they had given me. Would definitely recommend them to anyone. Love this place and the best part is you can be 18 to adopt. Wonderful! Thank you RMFR!

The adoption process was seamless and easy. The staff was helpful and very nice. The place is kind of a maze, a maze filled with cats. There's a room devoted entirely to kittens, which is both wonderful and terrifying at the same time, that many kitties all in one place.

The little one we adopted, Crissy Houston Cline, is a delightful beast, full of vim and vigor, full of beans. She loves to play and run and explore everything in our house. She'll play with just about anything, including half a dozen old pairs of socks that were in a box, destined for Goodwill. We woke up one morning to find them distributed around the house. She moves them around now, here and there.

So yes, I recommend RMFR if you're looking for a cat to give your life some purpose.

So, my situation is a strange one. I recently moved to this area because my mother has become I'll and for the time being, I'm her primary care taker. We recently found out my kittens were exasperating her illness, as she is on a breathing machine. I called and asked if they would be able to take in my 5 kittens, Carrie said yes and made me an appointment for the same afternoon. Well, apparently there was a misunderstanding because they said I told her there was only 2 kittens and to take all 5 I would have to give "a generous donation". The tech who examined the kittens also adamantly insisted my kittens were 7 months old, not 4 months. I personally bottle fed the kittens and can guarantee they were no older than 4.5 months old. I'm happy they were able to take my babies, but the situation was hard enough for me having to give up babies I bottle fed I just feel like they really have no compassion for the people who are in situations that are literally out of their control.

Office staff was rude upon arrival, and questioned why I wanted a kitten and not an older cat. The shelter is clean and the staff was very nice and informative. They seemed to know everything about every cat, including their personalities. The cats are very healthy and well taken care of. After looking around, we sat in the lobby for a half hour with the cat we wanted to adopt: a beautiful grey male cat with big green eyes. He was playful and cuddly but we noticed when other cats would come near him he would back into the corner. The girl in reception told us he was picked up off the streets in Texas as a kitten and does not like other cats, and needed to be the only cat of the house. As a young couple, he was perfect for us! We've had him for about 9 months and he's a sweet, energetic little cuddler, we couldn't be happier!

This place is amazing. Not only do they know exactly how to handle cats from all walks of life, but they also know how to show you that every kitty is special. My boyfriend and I adopted our sweet kitten girl "Rey" (formerly Emilia) and are so in love with our furbaby. The Employees and Volunteers were so helpful when we made the decision and even gave us veterinarian referrals. Definitely a place for any one looking for a kitty.

Please do yourself a favor and steer clear of this...

Please do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. It is filthy, the cats are poorly cared for and they don't guarantee their animals. First off let me start by saying I am a frequent adopter and I love animals! So when I walked in and smelt and saw how dirty this place was, I was shocked! I took home two girls so I could save them from this awful place. Sadly one of the girls they sent me with was sick and when I tried to contact them about it, their head vet tech, Kristen, was rude, patronizing and literally told me to be quiet multiple times. She then told me they would try to figure out my kitties issue but that if they get it wrong I'm on my own (even though they sent the cat to me like this - claiming her eyes and chin would clear up!). She then proceeded to tell me I'm lucky and should be thankful that they even offer a 2 week guarantee and support on their cats because other shelters don't! Which is crazy since 4paws 4life offers much longer (yes, I have adopted some seriously sweet cats and dogs from them and was MUCH more satisfied!). Please know that these poor cats are certainly not to blame, it is unfortunate that the location is run in the manner in which it is and I truly hope they get new management at some point. In short, sadly while these kitties do need homes, they are poorly cared for, in poor health and the staff was more than unprofessional. Please look somewhere else where they take good care of their furry friends!!

I honestly wish I could give 0 stars. I adopted two kittens from this center through Petsmart. Within minutes of taking the kittens to our home we realized they were sick- one kitten was sneezing constantly and had eye boogers and the other was extremely thin and refused to eat. Both kittens were given to us with the note that they were litter box trained but they were having diarrhea all over the house. We tried calling the center for advice and but they were extremely rude and no help. The vet shares the same concerns about our cats from this shelter as we do. This entire process has only been all within a week. Beware if you choose to adopt from this center.

The adoption process my wife and I went through was very easy and efficient. We were able to visit the shelter one day, return another day (because we wanted to make a good decision and not a hasty one), choose a cat, and take the cat home that same day. Our cat has been incredible. She's been very loving and has become very much a part of our family.

We found the facility clean and well run. The cats were well taken care of. I can't say enough positive things about this shelter.
