Rockwoods Bar & Backwater Grill Review

Terrible! Our waitress was incredibly rude, honestly I ve never had worst service. I was brought some kind of chicken sandwich when I ordered crab legs, The waitress brought out my food and I told her that my order was wrong she huffed grabbed my dish and walked away, I ended up having to ask another waitress if could bring the food that I ordered, she did. Also I never received complementary bread like every other table did. Their food is very over priced for what you receive. I think you will have a better experience anywhere else you go. I highly don t recommend.

Food is great with reasonable pricing and always have a good happy hour for drinks and appetizers.

A local favorite for great food, quality lunch buffet, amazing brunch, live music. Comfortable atmosphere and great outdoor patio with fire tables. There are lots of great meeting room spaces and this is THE place to host a wedding reception! We love Katie!

Extremely bad service. Waitress are rude. Absolutely one of the dirtiest restaurants I have been too. Owner needs to get into reality. There is no way this place gets 4 stars. Owners are lying and doing something illegal to get good reviews they probably make their staff do reviews! As I was doing this review I saw the owner actually rebukes any bad review it s ridiculous. Who does that! Just because Rockwoods is run poorly doesn t give them the right to harass people doing a review. I am as here with a friend from work and had to wait 30 minutes for a waitress to bother coming to our table. The waitress never could be bothered to ask us if we need anything. I say without utensils and finally had to go find some on my own. The menu was dirty, waitress rude, no refills, no utensils, wait time atrocious, owner has no clue how to treat customers! RUDE RUDE RUDE. I have been here before and boy Rockwoods has gone downhill. Time to get health inspector there I can t even imagine what back of the restaurant looks like when the front people are so dumb.

Everyone was satisfied. I didn't love the menu choices. I wanted Prime Rib on Saturday night like most places have. They don't. Theirs is on Sunday. I wanted grilled shrimp they dont have that just battered and deep fried...no thanks. Their brisket was ok but a bit dry. I have made better at my house. I would go here again but it didn't wow me at all.

Just attended a wedding in their banquet center.This is a very nice place to hold a wedding reception.I would rate this place as 6 stars if could.Well 5 stars is what it is then.The servers did a wonderful job and the food was delicious.

We were at the banquet hall. Plenty of space. Nice atmosphere. But, the sound system seemed to lack quality. The food was pretty good. Staff had a tough time keeping up with the group. Dessert was deserted...coffee was cold. There is plenty of parking.

Had dinner here yesterday with a group of friends celebrating one of their birthdays. Ordered a margarita which was the worst one I've ever had. It tasted like water with very strong lime. Not much, if any, tequila. However, the food was very good. I would go there again for lunch or dinner but would not order another margarita. One of the best margaritas I've ever had was at Applebees. Rockwoods should probably find out how they make margaritas.

Food was good. Service was sub-par. We will not be back. When I'm paying good money, it's not too much to ask for reasonable timeliness on service.

A great place to have a couple drinks on a Wednesday night while listening to live music out side.

Even a catered dinner can be an enjoyable experience! Wife had the walleye which was large, cooked well with tasty vegetables and rice pilaf. My steak was not cooked to order but very flavorful and the potatoes were a great change of pace. We will be back!

To celebrate our kid s birthday, he chose to eat at Rockwoods because of his favorite steak sandwich. We have been going there for years, many management, owner changes and we hit another that recently happened. The menu changed, and they had no clue what we were talking about. The waitress was nice but had no sense of time. We kept waiting, giving them the benefit of the doubt, then realized that it had been an hour and a half. I asked for the bill, we weren t waiting anymore; we had 3 kids to feed! My husband asked for the manager, and the manager didn t come to us, instead seated someone else. I finally had the manager and he was more concerned on comping us right away and the fact that there was 22 minutes from the time the waitress put the order in to when he checked on the computer. Needless to say, we will not be going there again!

Jordan, our server was amazing! Very helpful and polite! Food was good, slightly hard to manuver around in a wheelchair. Great selection!

Easter Buffet was garbage. Normally, their Sunday brunch is good, on Easter Sunday it was horrible. The selection was the same as their normal Sunday brunch except they charged double the normal price. Maybe it's because they had a large bunny ice sculpture? Personally I didn't feel it was worth the money. Most of their food was out and when they did put new stuff it was immediately depleted because of how busy it was.

Sunday Breakfast Brunch was not good. Food was warm to luke warm, nothing hot. The prime rib looked amazing but tasted like the meat had been freezer burnt. Sorry being graphic, but I had to spit it out into my napkin. Lots of food choices, however, other than the prime rib, I chose only breakfast items.

Great food and amazing bar staff! Try the brisket mac n cheese, and ask Tony or Joe for the most complicated drink you can think of when it's super busy .

Don't believe the hype, nothing special, food was average, service was brutal.

We went to Mother's Day brunch yesterday. This was our 5th year going here on Mother's Day and it will be our last. We have not been happy the last two years and this year just pushed the limit. Our reservation was at 1:30 (brunch was from 11-3) There were many empty places on the buffet and when we inquired, we were told that all breakfast items were being taken off (breakfast + lunch=BRUNCH) So, even then selections were slim and many times items were empty. The dessert selection is now about 1/4 the size and selection that it had been in the past, with donut holes, marshmallows and graham crackers for a chocolate fountain making up most of the table. We are moving on....

Excellent venue for a private party. Efficient & very helpful staff with whom to plan the event. The servers were professional & friendly, hustling to get the food & drinks to our guests.

Buying a nice expensive steak and being charged $1.00 for sour cream for your potato??? Really? Lost a customer here.

We had our wedding at Rockwoods and our experience was nothing short of AMAZING! They did most all of our planning for us. They set everything up and took it all down. Katie, the wedding planner was so organized and great to work with! I was so thankful to have her especially as part of our wedding planning process! Katie was also the officiant, she was awesome! We highly recommend her!! I have to say, our wedding was PERFECT! The ceremony and reception both were outstanding! We have had gasps and compliments galore, from food, to service, to decorations. We would recommend them to everyone!

Rockwoods has the most awesome menu and the staff is always great. Love the bbq and the hand crafted drinks. One of the best in the twin cities!

Service was Very Slow, we were seated for 2.5 hours from start to receiving the check.
I had steak with veg and potato. You don't get to pick the veg, and I'm not picky, like most veggies, but absolutely dislike broccoli-and that's what I got. Potatoes were very bland and had a strange texture.
Very over priced for the quality.
On the bright side, my steak was delicious and cooked perfectly!

Can't go wrong with Rockwoods, live music on Wednesdays in the summer. Good patio seating, great drink specials and good food.

The decor was so tasteful, yet comfortable. Food was amazing, service was good! We will be back!

I've been here a handful of times over the last 10 years and I'm never disappointed. A little pricey but worth every penny. Only problem is their mixed drinks are a little too watered down.

We had went to Rockwoods on 10-06-2017 for a birthday party. We were all going to order the prime rib because they have the best. Well we were informed they had a new menu and prime rib was only on sundays while supply lasted. We were very disappointed. And they also did away with your chose of salad or soup and potato! If I'm going to go out and spend the money we did that night we are going to go somewhere where we can get what we want. The waitress was very good and made the evening joyful. We will not go back. Russells is just down the road and they serve prime rib.

Ordered the Chips and Dips off their bar menu last evening. Received 3 bowls of dips as expected and a handful of chips in a goofy container. We had to ask for chips multiple times, when the bill came they charged us for each additional handful of chips. Really? Next time we will bring our own bag of chips, if there is a next time!

Lobster mac n cheese pretty good but a little dry. Could add more lobster. I will go again.

I was here for all-day classes so did not use all the facilities ..public bar and restaurant. Check-in was laid out well. Our conference room was stocked with a.m. rolls and fruit. We had all day access to sodas, coffee and water. Our lunch was delicious. The conference room, video access etc was comfortable. Rest room facilities were clean and accommodating. Comfortable and classy all the way

I would rate this restaurant much better if the service would meet the same level as the food quality. Unfortunately, it never does. The service here is incredibly slow, usually rude, and almost always makes me feel like an inconvenience. I have tried sitting on the patio, in the bar, and in the restaurant, and I have finally decided it must be how they are trained and managed because it never changes. I would recommend Pour which is nearby for better service and comparable food, or Cowboy Jacks for the bar/patio atmosphere.

The food is amazing. Pot roast and meat loaf and wild rice soup are just a few of my favorites! I love going there to drink too! Tony I'd my all time favorite bartender he makes everyone feel comfortable and like your at home. My boyfriend and i will make the trip from new hope just to see him! :)

Fun location for a wedding and reception. Good flow and transition from ceremony to party. Good outdoor area with fireplace and indoor lobby area to get a break from the party if needed.

This is an amazing restaurant! It was our first visit, we will definitely be returning customers. Beautiful atmosphere, top notch service, and the food is a full 5 stars. I had the Lobster Mac and savored every bite! I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity and quality of the Lobster, as it's easy to over cook. Thank you Rockwoods.

Don't order the cajun dry rub wings. Super salty. The beer selection tends to lean to the high IBU side. Basically if you're near the verge of death and have no taste buds left at all, this is the place for you. The lighting here is excellent on the (dark) bright side? Meaning not too bright. Very comfortable. Lots of TVs but yeah it'll be a few years before I'm ever back here, hopefully after a change of ownership.

No offers of refills on pop or water ignored after original check

We had my dad's Memorial Service & Celebration of Life at Rockwoods a couple weeks ago. Staff were highly attentive, great setting, and excellent service. Would definitely recommend to others.

Our group went there for the entertainment of "Suzanne the Magician" (look her up, she is amazing) We were extremely impressed with the ambiance of the restaurant. Definitely not a fat food or quick stop kind of place. The prices may be a bit shocking at first but when you consider the dinner, there dining area and the entertainment, you won't be disappointed. Well be back for another special occasion event!

My husband and I were here on business and stopped for a drink. I hope the food is better then the drinks. Quite possibly the worst margarita I have ever tasted and it was not overly busy but the waitress was very inattentive. I took one drink and left the glass on the table.

The buffet has several options and the staff were friendly.

Love the restaurant. Pizza is great! We're having our wedding reception here in November and have been so pleased with how everything has gone so far. Really great event planning staff, and a beautiful facility.

Not the best place to eat in Elk River, but it's really good.

Food was ok. I orders soup and sweet potatoes tots. Waitress didn't seems very happy. She didn't make you feel like she cared if we were there. She just wasn't very personable. Other staff were happy and very friendly.
