Rockwoods Bar & Backwater Grill Review

thoroughly impressed by the fish fry and the snow crab meal. Will be back. Great price for what you get.

The facility and room were perfect. The staff was wonderful. And the food was outstanding! I highly recommend Rockwoods.

My husband and I went to Rockwoods on Saturday to check it out, It's been awhile and we typically went for Sunday Brunch. They have an all new menu. It's interesting. They have very limited Gluten Sensitive items that don't involve seafood. I am not celiacs, i have non-celiac gluten intolerance and resorted to ordering the Poutine from the appetizer. IT was great they make it with a demiglaze sauce not gravy. They cheese curds didn't really melt but.. My husband got a juicy lucy however he really got hollow, very medium burger with a plate full of bloody melted cheese. Sigh His experience wasnt' as positive as mine but he had way more food options than I did. It was a nice change from previous menu, ambiance same, food came in little metal pans, lined with parchment or wax paper that dissolved under my poutine.. a real plate would've been better. Waiter was good, prices are fair but they need to learn how to cook a medium-medium well juicy lucy that still has cheese in it ;)

Beautiful wedding venue, tons of room, and great food.

I came with my boyfriend and its a perfect place . My friend suggest me this place . Its a wonder place . Services were good . Great food .

Good food and service! A tad pricey but not out of line.

Staff was very pleasant and helpful. I had a brisket bacon burger I thought it was not very flavorful. French fries were very good. Pizza looked good. I will go back.

Best service and food of anywhere in the area hands down. Bartenders, servers, and management are amazing!!

Rockwood is really nice, but also a bit expensive. The food is excellent, service is great, definately the nicer type of restaurant for this area.

Make sure if you get carry out that they put everything in the bag, got the walley sandwich only to get home and no tarter sauce, no lemon. It's the same price as if your eating there and I always get those things with my walley sandwich.

Called them to let them know about the mistake all was said is that she will let the kitchen know, not really apologetic or offering a discount.

Wednesday nights bands are awesome. Food and service is great.

This was a great restaurant to have some fabulous steaks and a nice cocktail. Our server was friendly and our service was prompt. The atmosphere is very nice and seemed like fine dining but without a dress code. Very relaxed and delicious.

Heard it was on a downward spiral however I disagree. The filet mignon is still fabulous, street tacos are a wee bit messy but worth the mess. Some kind of sausage whiskey pasta dish is awesome!

Amazing place to eat or drink I believe they also have hall rentals for special events my family love to go here for there Sunday brunch buffet after church high quality food and servers are great if you've never been here you are definitely missing out they even have a large patio for additional seating in the summer time

Christmas party for work vary nice place serves was great even knowing we had close to 30 people. They were on top of it food was vary good. Drinks were nice and strong will go again for sheer.

Says that they are open on Tuesday. Drove 30min there and that was not the case. Disappointing.

5 years ago their nachos weren't garbage and I would go weekly at a minimum. I just want my nachos back...

Closed due to covid?! No signs, google update, voicemails......just would have been nice to be updated.

We chose Rockwoods to host our daughter's wedding reception. I cannot say enough good things about them! Everything was perfect. The staff was always very helpful and pleasant to work with, and when the big day came they took care of everything so we didn't have to do anything but relax and enjoy the day. We received many compliments on the food and the venue is beautiful and very well suited for a reception. I could not have been happier!!

Good food. Place was cold the entire time we ate - uncomfortable.

I have an in at this restaurant and they let me try some brisket right out of the smoker. I'm pretty sure I died it was so good.

They also have one of the largest and most thoroughly impressive menus I've personally seen. Maybe I don't get out much but dang. You WILL find something you love on this menu.

Hit the outdoor concert on Wednesday evening and the music was rockin plus the service was great. We'll be back.

This place is always a great place for food or a night out. Bar is solid and the atmosphere is relaxed. Prices seem high, but you are getting what you pay for here and it is worth it.

Service was great. Food, especially the smoked legs and burger was excellent! Nice selection of craft beers.

Great late night happy hour...awesome food selection for a decent price...but the entertainment/music could be better.

Food was ok. Not like it used to be a few years ago. I had a steak the was still purple in the middle. I asked for medium and got more rare.

Good food, there is one weird thing though. The men's bathroom urinals have Windows that face the waiting area, and they are almost like one way mirrors, so people in the bathroom can see out but those in the waiting room can't see in.

Had a catered baby shower here, they did a great job!!!! Reasonable price and we got to keep the leftovers!!!

We had a nice dinner and the service was good but it is not the Rockwoods that is was 5 years ago--sure Miss those days.

Attended a wedding in their banquet facilities. The food was good and we enjoyed the patio area into the evening with a bonfire.

Had my daughter's wedding here. Every thing was spot on. They help so much from start to finish. We are still receiving compliments on the food! My daughter shares her vision ans they did the rest. We used their own officiant and she was perfect. From the set up to the end of the evening all was wonderful! Can't say enough about the great group of people they have from the bartender to the chefs and amazing wedding/event staff. Wow! Thank you so much!

Excellent brunch! Quite a selection of items. Fruit, desserts, meats, cheese & breakfast items.

Service is always good and friendly! I love the food. I have had the pizza, wings, nachos, and both chicken sandwiches and have not been disappointed!

Our bosses took us here last Saturday for our work Christmas party. We had decent service to start but once dessert was done, the majority of the waitresses only came back once an hour (except for one sweet girl, whose name I unfortunately can't remember). So we had to go out to the bar to get drinks so the girls were getting double tipped but kept walking past us when we were seated at the bar. We would have to flag them down to order something. While we were at the bar, we overheard one of the waitresses saying that our party was rude, among other things to other CUSTOMERS. We asked to speak to the manager who was extremely condescending and said that waitress told her someone from our party went up to the bride in the banquet center and told her to run and not get married! Absolutely unbelievable and a flat out LIE! The waitress that said we did it was just trying to cover her own butt since we were so unsatisfied with her service. All of us at the work party are in the service industry and there was absolutely no excuse for how this was handled. A lot of money was spent that night but we will never spend another penny there. So disappointing!!!

If you love brunch as much as I do, you will love Rockwoods! Sunday brunch is amazing! My advice is to get there early. They open at 10am. It is spendy but you get your money s worth. A true mix of breakfast and lunch items. My family and friends raved over the ribs, lasagna and dessert table including a chocolate fountain. I can t get enough of the cheesy potatoes and love that they make fresh omelettes. We went on New Year s Eve day and were treated to complimentary mimosas, a nice surprise. The service was attentive and kept our coffee cups full and cleared plates quickly.

Went for lunch. I had the buffet and all the hot food was old and dry. My husband ordered a burger done medium. It came well done. The bartender agreed it was overdone and offered to have it redone, but we chose not to due to time. Thought she would at least take something off the bill as he didn't eat it, but she didn't. We will spend our money across the street at Pour.

Not a fan of the new menu. Same good atmosphere and I love the bon fire Wednesdays! Wish they were having Jamfest this year, sad that that tradition isn't happening.

Took my son out to dinner there yesterday. The server was fantastic. The daily food and drink specials are very reasonable. The food was great and so were the cocktails. They also have a fantastic events center. If you're in Otsego I would definitely recommend Rockwoods!
