Rockwoods Bar & Backwater Grill Review

If I could give a 0 star rating I would. The quality of the food was awful-everyone that I was with not just mine-(that's 5 meals). I'm normally not one to complain but cold McDonalds would have tasted better and the service would have been the same. I haven't been to Rockwoods in probably 4 or 5 years but I remember it being so much better. We recently moved and I was really excited to be closer and figured we'd start going there more---forget that. It's way to overpriced for cold food and inattentive service. There are way to many other options out there to return.

Very good food, friendly staff, and a very comfortable, warm atmosphere. They also have a large selection of beers, both on tap and bottled.

I use to LOVE this place. However, they had a change in management ( i hear) recently and the food has done a dive. My hubby and I went there this last April and they were out of Prime Rib (what we came there for and I was pregnant!!). The salad was served on cheap plates, and it was generic bread that was served vs the good home cooked bread that they use to have. My parents use to have their holiday partys there and they are no longer doing that. Shame on the owners. :(

I wold give zero if possible.... I can t eat regular or GREEN onion on my food or I get extremely sick like constantly vomiting. I asked the waitress if there were any onions on my entree and she said no and it came out with green onions garnished on it. I told her about it and she just told me oh my bad sometimes it comes garnished that way. Personally I m a server at crave and this would ve never happened especially if I was paying $20 for the entree I would ve made it fresh for them because otherwise I would ve not had a job after that stunt. Plus they barely acknowledge it and the manager told me that it was an accident and the gave me 15 dollars off which was ridiculous. Don t go there if you have allergy because they don t care

We had our ceremony and our reception at Rockwoods. This is the ideal spot for a wedding. The ladies are rock stars at the planning meetings, the food, the decor set up/tear down, the small details, and the day of. I couldn't have asked for a better group to work with, and a more perfect venue. The whole day was great!!!

Great place to meet for business and with friends. Going to be there again this year for our holiday dinner with friends from church.

We recently rented the Boardroom at Rockwoods for a work meeting and have nothing but great things to say about our experience and the restaurant. The room was ready and clean when we arrived and the staff was courteous and helpful. We'd totally host another work meeting here again!

My husband and I had dinner here last night, we have only been here once and that was for the sunday brunch buffet. Both experiences were not worth the money we spent. The buffet is a normal brunch buffet but $19 a person. Could get the same quality food at Golden Corral. Last nights dinner was disappointing as my husbands meatloaf was so salty he couldn t finish it, and my pasta was so bland and the chicken was like rubber. Two stars because the bread was good.

Cool trains on the ceiling as well as a great overall atmosphere. The service was above average so that all saved the food which was sub-par. I wasn't crazy about the fries and I think my burger sat in the service window for too long. I'd give the food another try though.

Burger was great, server was very attentive and checked on us several times. Upscale decor.

This is a very popular restaurant. I've only eaten here 2 times, but each time the food and service were both good. The menu seems to be mostly bar food, but done well. It seems to be popular with Millenials.

Went to see Dueces Wild Dueling Pianos! Was such a great time full of laughter and singing! Can't wait to see them again!

Went for a group brunch. The buffet was a little confusing, as is the restaurant layout. Some of our guests overlooked a side room that had most of the hot food spread. They make up for it with a great spread of eggs Benedict, DIY waffles, an omelette bar and ribs, etc.!

Terrible wait person. Ribeye sandwhich inedible. Tough.

Their smoked brisket is the best food I ve ever eaten. The servers sometimes seem a little understaffed. Wish they had a better selection of cocktails as I ve tried several on the menu and don t like them, but it doesn t matter because I m there for the brisket anyway. Yum!!

Over rated place. Living off its past reputation. Service and food need to be worked on.

Good food but somewhat expensive. Sometimes they have entertainment on not only the weekends but some days of the week also. During the summer they have bands outside. It is a great place to sit outside in the summer on a nice day or evening. Beautiful patio area that was newly built.

Rehearsal dinner we had at Rockwoods recently was exceptional. Food, service, and event staff were excellent.

Really loved it! I had the full rack of ribs and my wife had the ribeye, both were cooked perfect and tasted amazing, great atmosphere, awesome wait staff. I will 100% be coming back here again. 10/10!

This place has some seriously good food. One of the most mouth watering steaks I ever ate came from here. It wasn't anything complex just a petite tender steak with salt and pepper but it was just the right level of done and so very tender and juicy. I may have moaned when I took that bite :) I highly recommend bringing a friend getting a beer and a juicy steak. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy allowing for conversation.

Filet mignon was delicious and service was top notch. Having already dined here a few times both in the bar and dining areas, this is the norm in my experience.

If you like good food this is the place to go. If you like to have nice events this is the place to go. Weddings, meetings, gatherings you can do it at the event center. Their menu is very nice and selection of food and drinks even better.

My cousin works here he always told me the foods it's good and he was not lying the nachos in here are unique ! Best I ever ate

Great spot for a Vikings game, or wedding reception. I have been there for both and had a great time.

I like the atmosphere at this restaurant. Dark wood and cozy. It s clean and they have a nice selection on the menu. The New York Strip was perfectly prepared and their au gratin potatoes are my girlfriends favorite. The Bourbon pasta is loaded with flavor and has a little kick. Service was basic, good but didn t stand out in any way.

Perfect for events. Professionalism, service and food quality rival venues you'd find in much larger cities. The events team makes planning super simple. They're extremely organized and clearly know how to make the event-hosting experience stress-free. Complimentary centerpieces and lots of linen choices make the decorating easy as well. Couldn't be happier with my experience working with this team and venue.

Great place and venue attended a friends wedding there and there food and service was fabulous

One of my all time favorite places to eat and for date night :) happy hour is 2-7 and all day Sundays. Good appetizers and wine/beer selection. Would recommend the Salmon bowl or pizza of the day...those are some of my favorites!

We were there Friday night for our daughter's wedding and the staff was outstanding. The food was outstanding and everyone was so nice and I think if anything else we need we will go back. Thank you for putting out the red carpet for all of us. We had an awesome time.

I knew once we were trying to find the correct door, we should have went elsewhere. Everything is $15, average price. But....the menu wasnt much. Like a very small selection. We tried two pizzas as half off. Thank gosh half off because they were the worst pizza I ever had. They had no flavor at all! This place wasnt impressive, wasnt sure it had a place to actually eat, grounds not kept up, and the pizza was worse ever. Only thing I did like was the firework with sparkles coming from in as it was stuck in a piece of cake. That was pretty cool. Still not worth going there for that though.

This is our second year we went for Mothers Day brunch and was very happy with the food. The staff was very friendly.

After 2 bad experiences in a row, 2 stars might be generous.
The first experience, we were hosting a party with 20 people that we called in 2 weeks in advance... Rockwoods responded by scheduling only 1 server in that area. It took 45 minutes just for our order to be taken. When I spoke to the manager, he was flippant and unapologetic.
This time, my family brought my grandma out for Sunday brunch to celebrate her birthday and we were horribly disappointed. The ribs were way over smoked and dry. The fish was mushy and soggy. There were flies all over EVERYTHING that wasn't covered. And the server dropped a butterknife on my sleeping baby and just laughed it off and walked away. At least the mimosas were good.
Even after living in the area for 20 years, we will definitely not be back.

Thanks for responding, I get you're just trying to do your job, but you're also kind of rude and make a lot of excuses. If you have to make that many excuses for your people and blame customers for crappy experiences, you might just need better management. Good luck.

Patio was pretty gross. Does anybody sweep out there ever? Bugs and flys everywhere. Dirty nasty metal tables and most are wobbly. Server was pretty attentive. Food tasted not very good. Bad cheese. Manager, get with the execution of your place. Needs attention. Menu looked old.

Harvest Salad was top 5 all time! Wait staff very pleasant!

Spent 55th anniversary there and had a great time.

For the price of Sunday brunch I didn't expect to have to put up with kids running around the tables and banging into walls and then also have the waitresses dragging tables and chairs across the floor making so much noise you couldn't visit across your own table. Most unpleasant experience. I doubt we'll be back.
