Rideau Carleton Raceway Review

It's a standard casino with slots and gaming tables. Didn't expect to win but walked out with more than I spent. Had dinner at the seafood and prime rib buffet. Scallop, mussels and shrimp were good but the chicken and salmon were dry. Passion fruit mousse cake had a nice tangy kick. Didn't have a chance to try the sundea bar. Other deserts seemed like staple buffet food.

Poker room is decent. But the casino really needs to improve their WiFi service if they want to be seen as an attraction for tourists. Cellphone reception out that way also sucks.

Saturday night seafood buffet is amazing, reservations work best as it is very busy.

Its a nice place to hang out sometimes with friends the people are friendly and well educated.

In the men's room, the handicap stall is located where a wheelchair user will have a very though tone getting in. No room to turn once you're in. It's the worst I've seen in many years.

Glad they are starting to clean this place up. Walk around the penny slots and smell the urine. When the Hard Rock takes over it should be a lot better. Hopefully the food at the buffet is getting better. Tried it a couple of times - I'm guessing its on par with high school cafeteria food from the 80's. The Shoreline Casino is a really nice spot if you are out for a drive

I went there for the Capital Fair. IMHO, this year it's a rip off. Even after buying the day pass, we had to pay a $4 admission fees. And the so called donation for the parking is not a donation. You are forced to pay it or you won't be able to park in there. All that when the Casino's parking is free. Some guys will be right at the main entrance of the Casino's parking lot collection these $5. So whatever you will have paid ahead, plan an extra $5 plus $4 per person. Most likely the last time I go to this fair. We get way more for our money at the hit air balloon festival which also have a huge fair equivalent to the capital fair, concerts and balloon festival and more.

Good food, horse racing and casino. Beautiful place.

The only thing lacking is a nightclub and a Texas Holdem poker room

If you like to play the slots or a challenging card game then RCR is for you, there's even a restaurant if you want to feed the family or a large group.

Worst cassino trip ever. No consideration for the patrons. Had to wait in line at players club for almost 2 and half hours. Very unorganized. Buffet smallest spread ever and cold meat. Administration is totally unprepared for transition to Hard Rock. A very very frustrating day.

Great staff. Really disappointed with the quality of food in the buffet with the change over. :(

I'm reviewing the brunch and not the rest of the facilites.

The brunch is pretty horrible. The environment is not inviting. The decor is really non-existant. Service is mediocre. Food is less than mediocre. There are so many amazing brunch spots. I'd suggest you go elsewhere.

Most awesome Buffet I've never left there feeling that I didn't have enough

Extremely frightening experience Saturday evening (starting approximately 11:00 p.m.) due to health issues. Total disregard by the few staff available. Finally was able to reach out to someone who called medical staff on site. After approximately 1 1/2 hours from beginning of this problem, two very capable gentlemen took me to my car in a wheelchair and sent me on my way. One star for each of these caring medical people.

Sylvia our waitress was great. The food.... Not so great.. at all. We wet on all you can eat prime rib and sea food night, it was really disappointing. You wait in a line of 30 people to get 5 shrimp and a slice of beef. the crab legs are in with the rest of the buffet but you're lucky if you get any because people would fill plates full and leave none for anyone else. the line would then stop til it was refilled... Tiny shrimp and skinny crab legs was the "all you can eat" sea food. I also notice that this establishment caters greatly to seniors and it reflects greatly in the food. Very bland,boring choices for the rest of the buffet. and the dessert section was just a mess. Not to mention everyone in the bathroom was being sick... and not out their mouths. Not a good experience at all. Two stars just for Sylvia.

I Love Environment and The Slot Machines and The Buffet in which You can make Your Own Dishes

We were hungry and could have gone anywhere. We pondered a few other places but decided to spend our money eating at the racetrack.

Let me give a break down of my experience this evening at the all you can eat seafood buffet.

We walk in , there s three woman standing around talking at the podium, it takes several steps just to walk up and their conversation doesn t even break until 10 seconds after us standing there. No smile and seats us.

Its not that busy yet Im noticing how the food in the trays were scarce. It is clear that it had been sitting a while. There was no freshness whatsoever. There was nothing that looked appetizing other than the roast beef. Everything was just blah.

The salad bar: They options are extremely slim. The potato and pasta salad didn t look good at all. The mayo around the edges of the bowls and food had turned transparent as if it had been sitting for hours , therefore didn t eat it and I noticed when I passed by it later that new salad was dumped on top of old -gross.

Cold shrimp salad, tuna salad and cheap calamari salad. Low budget- didn t eat it. I mean who goes to a seafood buffet at a casino thinking mmmm I hope they have that tuna salad or that cold shrimp tossed in mayo or that cold squid salad . I sure don t.

The hot food: Potatoes- bland
Chicken-bland. Tasted like nothing.
Breaded fish, was again bland (if you could get some) and there was a few random pieces that sat there for a good 20 mins before it was replenished- didn t eat it.

Penne pasta with random pieces of peppers that were all cut in different sizes in some sort of cream sauce with nothing else in it-didn t eat it.
There were pork chops- didn t eat it as i came for seafood.

The muscles were over cooked and good luck even finding a shell thats not empty. The crab legs barely had and meat in them whatsoever and if you did get some it was just a few shreds so I gave up on that.

There were only two things I filled up on which were cold shrimp and the roast beef . Even the dijon mustard was hardening around the edges of its bowl.
Dessert: you ask for ice cream and you see all these jars behind but I wasn t offered anything. I think it was chocolate sauce n strawberries or something again I wouldn t know because I wasn t offered anything.

Overall this buffet is by far not worth the $31.99 plus tax. If it was $5 or even free I wouldn t eat here because the food is terrible. Just very low quality and bland.

Much too noisy because in addition to the noisy machines the music is excessively loud. Exaggeration in food prices as much for a simple little sandwich as for the buffet.

Pretty good buffet for a really good price. Went for brunch on Sunday and wasn't disappointed with the food or service.

I like the new casino table games. Way more fun than it used to be. I'll be going again soon.

Much nicer since the renovation, 4 star only because, where are the ribs gone?? So sad...

Great people working there machines do not pay like they used to not as much fun when that happens still a nice place to get away from the outside and hang of pace

A fantastic buffet dinner overlooking the horse racing! In addition to the casino, live racing can watched track side and is great fun for the whole family.

Hard Rock Buffet. The food is much better now. $24.99 for dinner for two on Thursday. Best deal in town.

Great buffet. Great gaming. Curtious staff. Lots of parking. Go Saturdays for the seafood buffet - it is worth to cost.

Other than various technical issues they still need to iron out, this place is starting to take shape. The staff are mostly friendly and courteous. Major issues with the Cashiers Desk as there are minimal cashiers available at any given time, leaving a sour taste in patrons mouths. Wait times are unsatisfactory. Please hire more staff!

Great place for a evening out, the restaurant seafood selection is awesome. Three star cause they could do some Reno especially in the restroom.

Reasonable buffet. The slots are a cruel Mistress, however.

Pretty cool place though I can't wait for the upgrades to the facilities since it's a pretty small casino with a limited option for games.

We used to love taking the Family here to watch the Horses race and enjoy a buffet to celebrate birthdays, then they made it 19+ and the kids can no longer come to watch the horses. We will no longer be coming here.

Your average casino, mostly slot machines. Food is average, service is average.

Cashed in a $1000 lotto ticket at the olg office. very nice girl there helped me. Had to wait an hour or so for a fax from olg in Toronto. Tried the slots while waiting. Got the cash. Great service. Thanks olg.

We decided to have brunch on Sunday March 31,2019. at approximately 11:45 am. We had company visiting from PEI and thought they would enjoy the meal. We all were very displeased. Everything was extremely cold except the macaroni and cheese. I even took home fries right when they brought out the full new tray and it was cold. The beef and ham were both over cook and were dried out. The deep fried chicken legs tasted like fish. Maybe the oil needs to be changed. I am having the rest of the family here this summer and I don't think I will suggest the buffet again at your establishment. I feel the price is fine for what you pay for but the quality has a lot to be desired. I have been eating your buffet for the past few years and I think it has gone down hill.

I Tried to speak to someone about their outdoor shows ,but apparently they don`t want to speak to potential clientele. No option to speak live,their automated system repeats the same drivel and my questions continue to go unanswered . This is clearly not "good" customer service . My husband and I have never been to the slots but apparently your lack of a live operator will continue to keep us away. I will take my business across the bridge to the real casino Lac Lemay.

Great buffet. Friendly staff. Nice and clean. Free parking. I have only gone on Sunday night for the races. Lots if fun.

Worst buffet ever. Not worth $25. Not worth $5. Service awful staff looked like they hated their life. Pasta night and absolutely no choices. Plain oily cold noodles or plain oily cold noodles. No sauces to even put on the undercooked clumpy noodles. Dessert just as bad they don't even have vanilla ice cream. Save your money go somewhere anywhere else.

Love the overhaul. I'll go here instead of lac leamy for sure.
