Fish was cold, food not great.. Service was poor after we found a hair in our rice. Sent dish back and they returned to us the same dish without hair. Had to send back again and request a whole new dish. Service and food quality has gone down in recent years. No parking. Had to park across street. Only positive is the atmosphere. Will not be going back.

Terrible Service. Food was overpriced. The manager asked us to leave our table as soon as our bill was paid. We were a party of six who had just paid almost $400 for a meal and five minutes after we'd eaten our dessert and paid our bill the manager came to our table and told us that he had another reservation waiting for our table and we would have to move. I've never had that happen before at any restaurant ever and I would think that he would at least have offered to buy us a drink or given us a discount on our next meal!

Would leave a zero star if goggle would let me. Couldn't tell you if the food is good or not couldn't even get a drink in a timely manor, left and went across the street to Branca and had a great dinner and amazing service.

Went here one time when my dad came out to visit me while in college. Can t remember what I had ordered. It was some sort of seafood, but it was so good. Will definitely recommend this as a cozy, fine dining place in the Pittsford area.

One of the very best restaurants in the Rochester area. The regular menu is extensive and expensive. The main dining areas are a little staid. The Grill has a less expensive menu and a nice, informal atmosphere. Dining outdoors along the canal in the summer is exceptional. Taking out of town guests there is a "must." I have used them often for private parties with excellent results.

Beautiful to have lunch out doors. There are tables in the shade as well as in the sun. Plenty of parking. Good food and professional staff. During this COVID 19 time bring your mask, specially for time you are waiting in line.

We ordered a nice takeout meal from Richardson's Canal House and it was wonderful. The scallops were perfectly cooked and seasoned, as well as the steak. The prices are reasonable, the service was wonderful, and we will be returning to eat in the restaurant as soon as possible.

Fabulous restaurant. The food was outstanding. The location, on the canal, is quaint and picturesque. My family was here and we dined in a private dining room. The hostess, Karen, did everything possible to make our meal memorable. I highly recommend Richardson's.

Quaint restaurant. Good food choices. Good bar selection. Everything for food is good, nothing is great. Service is really good. Caesar salad with fresh anchovies is actually one of the best Caesars I have ever had bc the anchovies are really good, not salty. A really nice restaurant, food could be a little better.

Great atmosphere and ambiance. There is plenty of outdoor seating with views of the canal. The food was okay, nothing special for the high prices. We had the charcuterie board and flatbread to start, the charcuterie board was okay, nothing fancy. The flatbread was probably the best thing we ordered out of everything. For dinner we had the crab pasta and gnocchi. I could probably make those dishes better at home so I would recommend coming here for drinks and enjoying the view rather than getting food. Service was friendly and fast.

What great find. Reminds me of my old school building. Interesting rooms available for dining. A menu unlike any other. Authentic Austrian food and reasonably priced wine list. Attentive but not over bearing wait staff. A welcome refreshing alternative to regular american comfort foods. If you enjoy fine dining, unusual delicious food and linen napkins it's a must. This is my new favorite

Just a bit overpriced and the mashed potatoes looked like mush. I felt bad because someone else was paying for my meal and thought that this was a treat for me. If I was paying for my meal I would have spoken up.

Went there for Thanksgiving and was very disappointed. They charged $55.00 per person for soup or salad, the main meal and dessert. There was five of us and the bill came to over $300.00 and everyone but myself had the turkey dinner, not exactly an expensive meal. I had salmon and the portion was tiny with just a couple vegetables and white rice with beet juice over it. My father commented that his turkey was tough, other members of our party said their turkey was "ok". Our waiter was one of the worst I have had. He never brought the dinner rolls, we had to ask for them when we noticed other tables had gotten theirs right away. By that time we were half way through the main meal. He also seemed annoyed when we asked a couple times for coffee refills. The one positive was that the room we were seated in was cozy and had a nice gas fireplace near our table.

This place feels like home. Vintage/rustic look, without looking old and dirty. Food was great, service was great. We had the upstairs for a wedding party and everything was delicious. We had about 35 people and they didn't miss a beat. Water was always full, soda was always full. The scenery is great as well !

Very disappointing, for the third and last time. Worse than last year. Despite the enjoyment of the outdoor patio, the food has declined indicating cheaper quality and, hence, flavor. Additionally, the order did not arrive as requested and the waitress hovered over us while we were getting out cash to pay the tab. Nice setting but overpriced and regrettable food.

The place is very authentic and it is beautiful inside and out when there is good weather. The food was very good, the menu is not so big but they do have lots of options. Above that, the service and the overall dinner were very good!

I have been going to this restaurant on and off for 53 years in a respectful manor. Never been over served or acted outside of social norms while patronizing this place.. even though it is open under new management than in the past this place has always been Pricey. The new proprietorship took the lamb and other long time plates off the menu, and the last couple years they run out of items often in my experiences. The older brunette Hostess of the last couple years is consistently talking down to customers, not just me. I watch and listen where ever I go, Like she is queen of her imaginary kingdom. Hostess talks down to the Staff in front of customers also. I dwell in this neighborhood. She is a commuter that comes to our neighborhood to make money and treats people in a negative tone. Don't come to our neighborhood and treat people this way. If you are a business class visitor and wish to dine alone take note now. Last time I arrived being last night, the hostess refused seating to me as a single claiming they are too busy outside. Like no way, there were 6 tables open under the tent and half a football feild of open grass off the patio that she could have seated me at as a single. I would have been very grateful to have waited for a chair and a small table off in the grass like other tables that were in the grass. The time before I came to eat diner as soon as I arrived she told me in a condescending negative tone she could only seat me if I was done In 20 minutes as she needed the table. I felt like I was horribly treated by this woman, there were plenty of open tables from when I arrived till when I left. The wait staff was very kind to me... very kind, but the older dark brown haired hostess is consistently so rude it is very off putting. Frankly It is best to go to any other restaurant in the 10 mile vicinity knowing I am always treated respectfully when I show up to sit down to grab dinner. At least the other places are more consistent with their menu items and of course most often less expensive.

I hate to leave a bad review. It is very rare for me. But after so many bad experiences with the Bartender here, it seems like it must be done. This place has great atmosphere along the canal. It is also a historic building. But the darn Bartender just has to go. After 3 visits here, and stories from friends, it is clear that he just hates his job - and the people he is serving. Drinks take a long time. I asked for pretzels and he said "really?" and looked at me with incredulity. It was like we asked for the world. He refused to split a $60 bar tab on two credit cards saying "that will take too long." Again - this has happened on multiple visits, even when it is not busy. I really like the atmosphere along the canal. But service is a serious problem that could be easily fixed.

This is an incredible hidden gem that isn't usually on our rotation for dining out. The staff is so kind and not overly attentive, just the right amount of attention. The overall interior is cozy with the low lighting and vintage dining tables. It's not flashy or fancy and the vibe fits well with the menu.

The execution of the kitchen is very impressive! We cook a lot at home from scratch so I find it hard to dine out and not be disappointed by the food I've ordered. I personally really hate spending money out on food when I can make it better at home. The menu has some comfort staples and interesting twists on favorites. You have to try the spaghetti squash carbonara and the pork belly starters, they're both to die for! We ordered the duck breast and scallops main dishes (among other things) last night. The duck was cooked to perfection, rare/medium rare with the most perfect crispy skin I've had in a long time. The scallops were so tender, moist, and had zero grit. It was like butter, so smooth and delicate.

It's also very family friendly as we take our 6-month-old out with us everywhere (even bars for the rare night out with friends these days). The staff was more than happy to be accommodating and loved seeing a young face there. Caveat, it helps our LO is super easy going and doesn't fuss much, otherwise we wouldn't be taking her out so to not disturb other guests dining out.

As a girl who loves dining downtown at Good Luck, Lento, and the like (pre baby)... Richardson's is right up there with the food execution by the kitchen staff. It's dialed up comfort food and not disappointing in any way, shape, or form!

Spent a lovely evening sitting outside watching the canal. Good wine list (Napa, France) and very reasonably priced, but visiting for California, I wish for a little more in terms of local wine selection.

Extremely impressed with the service Richardson's provided for an outdoor event we held! We were particularly impressed with the number of servers they allocated for our 50 person event, all of whom were extremely attentive and ensured our guests were never waiting for a drink. Moreover, they escorted guests from cars to our tent with umbrellas. Both the event coordinator, Lori, and the owner were very responsive and accommodating throughout the planning process and the day of the event. Would highly recommend this beautiful venue for events.

Fantastic! Delicious food and great service. Beautiful scenery on the canal with lights around the trees and new awesome fire pits. My girlfriend and I sat around one of four or five fire pits and ordered drinks and a chicken quesadilla with a strawberry salsa. The drinks were very good and the appetizer was savory and the salsa added a hint of sweetness. For dinner, I had the Jonah crab salad and the Lamb chops. My girlfriend had their house cut fries and the Manhattan Strip filet. This was THE best meat ever. Both the lamb and the strip filet were tender and cooked perfectly (lamb medium rare and the strip medium). I have never eaten such flavorful meat. The entire atmosphere of trendy music, fun cocktails, fire pits, and delicious food made this an unforgettable night. we are definitely going to be regulars here.
