SENSATIONAL!
A great concept with perfect implementation!
What is served is what can be grown and harvested nearby. You dine in the middle of the garden and you can watch the staff picking, maintaining and preparing the ingredients.
The dishes were very well presented and the taste was amazing. We had only eaten lunch due to the short notice and recommend everything and everyone to visit!
On our next visit we will definitely have dinner.
This is a gem of a restaurant. The setting is beautiful and the food absolutely exquisite. The veggies are clearly the stars of the show and they dominate every dish with elegance and surprising conviction. Its not often that a pea or a beetroot or a tuber perform and the meats play second fiddle. Clearly tables have turned on the animal farm and I am loving it!
Food is good but the overall experience was underwhelming. Service was terrible, far below what you would expect in this kind of restaurant. We even ended up waiting 45min before we could even get started as the restaurant was waiting for more people to come to our table (I checked and did ask for a 2 people reservation in my original request).
That was supposed to be my birthday dinner, very disappointing.
Food was ok, but very small dishes. Waiters were arrogant. Restroom was nice.
It is a fantastic restaurant in Amsterdam. Service quality deserved more than 5 stars. Oysters are super delicious. We took 5 courses menu and experience was amazing. All of them are fresh, super tasty and being served by different proffesional chefs. Wine menu is quite decent and their Dutch house wine (white) was also good recommendation from them. Ambience of the restaurant is satisfying. I can confidently recommend it
Excellent service, starting at the front door. The finest, freshest food in combinations never experienced before. Make a reservation well in advance!
I mean, truly an amazing dining experience from the minute you walk through the doors to the moment you exit those same doors.
The food is so fresh, and memorable because it hits so many points of the palate with quality flavor and a mix of textures. You honestly walk away feeling the money and time you spent was so honest and wholesome.
The service from the Hostess, to the server and her guidance, to the runners explains your dish, all do this restaurant a great service as their face.
While in Amsterdam, I highly recommend this for a premiere dining experience. It s straight out of an episode of Chefs Table. For real.
Tip- pop into the greenhouse behind the hostess stand, to get a feel (visual/scent) of what your about to eat. Great way to preface the experience imo
It is a menu of 5 or 6 dishes all are exquisite .... The last dish is post and I recommend you order both are very rich .. Definitely a place to visit again
I totally get why its been there for so long. The perfect balance of meat proteins/veggies for a conscious omnivore like myself. I enjoyed every dish and the amuse bouche were plentiful. Highlights for me were the pre dessert with hazelnut cream and Gouda; and the wine pairing of Costers del Segre with the main course. Thank you to our wonderful waitress and the rest of the staff.
Great location and great food, this was totally worth it.
Excellent food beautifully presented, with charming service from enthusiastic youyoug staff
One of the best Restaurants I discovered. Whenever in Amsterdam it is a must go !
I only know a very few restaurants that run such a consistent local, regional, seasonal and organic concept successfully for so long.
Amazing food experience in the heart of Amsterdam. We entered the restaurant at 8pm and left before midnight. The food was delicious, the service excellent and the wine pairing perfect. I highly recommend De Kas for a special occasion!
A visit to this restaurant will make your evening and be prepared to revisit! The concept is simple but genius. De Kas grows her own crops and you can eat them at the restaurant.
Michelin star worthy in food, service and ambiance!
A wonderful restaurant - great ambience, excellent food, perfect service. We felt completely comfortable from start to finish!
Not one to normally leave reviews but....this is A must do dining experience when visiting Amsterdam.
The food is next level fresh and the best part is the way they just serve you the menu blind means you try some amazing things you might not have normally, and only what s seasonally available.
It s a bit out of the centre but worth the 20 min walk or 8 min Uber !
The design is sleek and made an otherwise bleak day very bright :)
We had brilliant service and was a birthday so the staff went out of their way to help us celebrate.
You could come back, over and over as the menu changes constantly, and is reasonably priced!
Fantastic Meal! Great presentation, food was all so fresh.
Food in the greenhouse, well my taste was not. Attention despite the greenhouse very noble and expensive.
What a pleasant surprise. This restaurant is located inside a park far from the usual touristic routes. The park itself is worth a visit if you're from our of town as it has dozens of tiny houses where people live or spend the weekend. Now, on to the restaurant. The place is beautiful and well decorated. It's a big greenhouse, where they actually grow vegetables (as far as I understood, some of them are used in the dishes). The food was beyond tasty: it felt fresh and balanced. We were at a corporate event and were served a degustation menu of 6 dishes, plus 2 starters. I ate as much as I could (from colleagues who eat less) simply because the food was (sorry KFC) finger licking good. The atmosphere and service were excellent as well. The only thing I cannot comment on is the price because I never saw the bill. I can, however, give it 5 stars and recommend it because it is worth it.
Such a lovely experience. An extremely fancy place with delicious food and lovely service.
Really great and beautifully plated food without the pretension. Five, six, seven or eight course tasting menu made from freshly grown produce. The entire establishment is a beautiful greenhouse with a dining room, bar and an adjacent garden. If you love artfully plated dishes with unusual layered flavors, you will love this. Price of dinner was very reasonable: five course dinner with one cocktail each plus a bottle of wine was only 85 per person.
This is one of the finest restaurants in Europe. Always an inspiration.
Insanely delicious eaten. An explosion of flavor combinations that give you an oe an ahh a huh feeling. Truly beautiful combinations and a nice piece of menu composition.
The wait staff took time for you and gave a clear explanation for each course. In short, highly recommended
Fantastic food, service and venue. This place should be featured on chef's table - ingredients used for all dishes are grown in-house. Amazing!
A pleasant reception, beautiful location and super beautiful and delicious food. A must as far as I am concerned
Good food.
Lots of space both inside and out.
Very interesting food. I liked it despite the high price tag. Good service, and excellent atmosphere. Make a reservation, it can be difficult to get a table.
While we were lucky to be born Italian, in the country where the food is absolutely a real piece of culture, it is equally true that we are endowed with an extreme curiosity about everything that lies beyond our borders. And so with pleasure we report our experience in this delicious restaurant in Amsterdam: @restaurantdekas!
The first thing that struck us is entering the greenhouse which is accessible from the entrance of the restaurant and hence also accessed by employees of the kitchen to collect the fresh (and decidedly to KM 0) vegetables from their garden. The restaurant is elegant but still has a "casual" touch. And itself is placed inside a high glass structure (a call of the greenhouse mentioned before). We chose the menu with 7 courses and certainly wowed us the fusion section of the kitchen. We started with fresh oysters, followed by the chef's welcome with rice rolls and a sesame cream. All this was followed by an intense refinement of different textures: the crispness of a chicken skin Chips styled with sweet and soft artichoke (our favorite dish), or pumpkin soup with shrimp and coconut milk (very Asian as taste) .. We don't want to spoil too much we leave you the photographs of some of our courses with the firm advice to try this restaurant if you ever find yourself in the surroundings of Amsterdam.
From Bari with Love
Nice place, good food, excellent service. Not ideal for a good conversation, the ambiance is a bit too messy for that.
Need to order at least a week ahead. I was ordering 5 days ahead, and ended up on a waiting list. Luckily enough, we still got a table though.
Service is really good.
Food is interesting, but very much into vegetables.
Expect total bill of about 150EU for two persons, including wine, hot drinks and tip.
My new favorite restaurant in Amsterdam! It prides itself on serving creative and absolutely delicious food mostly grown on site or at their farm, complemented by some meat and seafood sourced sustainably. But at the same time, they have no issue to cater for vegetarians or any other requests. The menu is changed every 1-2 weeks, so you get the produce that is always at its best season. The restaurant itself is a converted conservatory, so it feels airy and spacious, is beautifully designed and you at able to see their own produce. You also get extremely attentive service, that is friendly, efficient and can provide great recommendations. We spent nearly 4 hours there, had 6 courses and numerous small appetizers at the beginning and throughout. So even if 5 course dinner starts at 60 eur, I feel you get extremely good value for what you get. I believe in many ways you get better experience than many much more expensive and renowned restaurants in Amsterdam. I can't wait to be back again very soon!
On a busy Saturday night the service was excellent, there was extensive talk about the food and the restaurant in general and then in three languages! Moreover, the food was excellent, very varied, tasty and surprisingly prepared. Highly recommended!
Fantastic place, team and food. This is a great experience !
Beautiful place with amazing organic food from their own garden, a must need to visit this place you'll come back for more.
Great vegetable oriented food, a modern and stylish restaurant. In my opinion one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam.
The place is very unique (a well-decorated and cozy greenhouse overlooking the kitchen, all glass) and without a doubt the dishes are simple but well prepared where the vegetable is the main protagonist. They offer you a menu of 5 or 6 dishes ( 52 and 60 respectively, without drinks). The expensive wines, that of the house acceptable.
In the end, the waiting time between plate and plate was relativized and we were made something heavy.
recipe with wonderful spices and herb, larger rooms
Not been for years, but it was incredibly nice to be here again. Original, excellent service and just terribly good food. Recommended!
Beautiful dining experience with excellent service. Food was very good, however, did not think it was quite at the level I was hoping for. This could have just been what was on the menu that particular night. For this reason, have not returned.
Not sure why this place hasn t got a Michelin star. Probably in the top three food experiences in my life. Vegetables and fruit grown on site and forming the base of incredibile dishes. All completed by a great ambiance and wonderful More
Amazing service, state of the art food that actually tastes fantastic. Superior service from the staff. Compliments to the chef (forgot his name but something Bear!?) and his kitchen staff. The overall concept, location, design, atmosphere, music deserved a perfect score. Well done! One of the dishes we were served was duck and I don t like or eat duck so i didn t eat it, no fault of the restaurant, it s just my preference but when the waiter came he insisted the chef makes me a special dish in place of the duck. I m glad he did because it was AMAZING! They didn t have to do that yet they did. What a great place! We will be back next time we are in Amsterdam!!!
Very stylish venue and well presented food, but the food itself is plain and uninteresting.
Does it have a Michelin star ? I would say this restaurant deserves one
Nice location where you can eat super tasty! The service was adequate and involved.
Very refreshing, clean tasting food, beautiful atmosphere to dine in. We had lunch here, wish we also booked dinner as well. Will totally come back next time.
Unique dining experience just east of the center of Amsterdam. The food , atmosphere and service are all wonderful. They offer a delicious vegetarian 3 course meal upon request. Looking forward to going back! :D
Marvelous experience on this beloved greenhouse in the middle of a distant park. I fell in love with the cheese platter at the end of my lunch. Sort of a mystical time when a ladybug arrived at our table. A delicate ending. Besides that, the waiter showed us the way to buy more of the blue cheese we had. Lovely.
Very good decor, great food and good service. Frequently visit this place with my fiancee!
Enjoy the time to dine here!
Very good lighting
The restaurant is transparent and directly sees the water and plants outside.
The staff personally introduced each dish.
80% of the ingredients come from the garden next to you.
Everything to eat De Kas's heart and surprise!
Very good, interesting food with a great concept. Exceptional location and professional service. Highly Recommended!
The concept is clear '; you eat what has been harvested in the garden that in combination with excellent service and professional service makes this a very pleasant experience. The quality is good and creative, the Brussels sprouts are very special, but the cod is also amazing. The taste is very good and beautifully presented. You do not know exactly what it is made for you and that just makes it better. The wine list is also full of surprises. We took a Dutch Riesling and it was so good that a second bottle was needed, and that with lunch. All in all a great experience and definitely something to go back.
Yummy,
Tasteful, nice place .. the benches maybe some more filling ...
Amazing food... HORRIBLE service and experience unfortunately. We ended up leaving mid-meal due to lack of attention and communication from the servers. We had very high expectations for this place after talking to many people but were highly disappointed after waiting 2hrs for the 1st and 2nd courses to be served.
Good place in the middle of the park but food can be a little better
Fabulous slow food experience. Wonderful ambiance and menu. Sunset was a perfect time to arrive to take in the garden view and watch the greenhouse transform into colorful magic.
De Kas doesn't disappointed! From a human, friendly and professional staff to delicious dishes, you are in for an experience!
Some flavour mixes are definitely surprising but the main attraction is the freshness of the vegetables served there!
A must-do, I will definitely come back in summer time to fully enjoy this amazing greenhouse view.
If you sit outside on the terrace in summer, you couldn't be closer to nature. The view of the beds with all their bees, bumblebees and butterflies is impressive. Small masterpieces of culinary art are served here by the service team. Taste explosions in the mouth. After dinner the park invites you to take a walk and you can say it was a really nice time.
We had a great evening with some friends at De Kas. The restaurant has a very cool style with a great mix of people. The menu is very much based on high quality ingredients. Some of them can be checked out in the garden next to the restaurant. Wine and food was great, als the service was amazing. One of my all time favourites in Amsterdam.
Fun, innovative, and oh so fresh cuisine! Definitely visit if you're in Amsterdam.
Very good food. Beautiful / unique location and definitely worth repeating. Keep it up!
I love this innovative farm-to-table restaurant. The fixed menu always offers some nice surprises and is really inspirational (there were many "wow how can I do this again at home?!" around the table during our last visit)
De Kas source all their products either from the greenhouse attached to the restaurant, or from local farmers which whom they have a long-standing relationship.
The products are fabulous and the menu affordable for this level of quality.
The restaurant sits under a wonderful greenhouse and the acoustics are pretty good - you can have conversations at a normal voice level, which is rare enough to be mentioned!
Nice environment and service. A bit pricy for the food though
delicious food they were not only very tasty dishes, but a lot of effort was also put into the layout
Lovely location with lovely food. Personnel very polite and professional. Super recommend it for a special dinner
Michelin-starred chef Gert Jan Hageman took what was once a dilapidated greenhouse, and transformed it into one of Amsterdam s most celebrated restaurants. Hageman and the De Kas staff tend two greenhouses offsite, each the size of football field, and a smaller one adjacent to the building, which supply most of the vegetables and herbs used in the restaurant.
Housed in a chic greenhouse that sits next to a towering chimney dating from 1926, De Kas setting is as authentic and unique as its cuisine. The menu changes weekly and all the food is cooked the same day it is harvested. De Kas is definitely worth a visit.
We had heard that lately it was not so good, but we checked. And we totally disagree: we were quite stunned at the great flavors and combinations. They were very available to accommodate dietary requirements as well. Obviously the location and the interior are superb, but really the food is to match
Great place. They themselves cultivate and produce everything they consume. The Tasting Menu is simply wonderful. In the 6 dishes of the menu there is only 1 with animal protein which makes it even more attractive.
My wife stumbled upon De Kas (green house) online before we left for our European honeymoon. Easily the best meal we had in our two weeks traveling in Europe.
Great atmosphere, delicious fresh food with ingredients grown on the spot
Not only is the location stunning and unique, the food experience at De Kas is absolutely remarkable. Each dish is carefully crafted to enhance both flavors and presentation, accompanied by a well selected wine option. The service is top notch!
Sublime reception and super food !!! delicious vegetables reinvented.
Okay service, beautiful location. Bad food, no taste
Absolutely fantastic dining experience. Fresh, unique dishes and fantastic service in a relaxed yet luxurious setting.
